17. Do you have a writing routine?

Nope! Absolutely none. I work in chaos. I mainly write on my work laptop (oops) during lunch because I have my own office and I can sit and rewrite a scene twenty times percolate. But sometimes I dream of a bit of dialogue, or a particular turn of phrase and have to wake up and write it immediately on my phone in bed (terrible) or on my phone on the bus (worse)

I really want to write something set when the bugs were staying in their cabins at Loch Earn but that hasn't crystallised into a fully formed idea yet, so it's languishing in a document with a few articles links and pictures. One day!

78. What motivates you during the writing process?

I'm not gonna lie and say it's not comments but... I actually do really enjoy the process. There's nothing quite like poking and prodding and forming this little story into life. And then sometimes other people like it! What a time to be alive :')

Yesss there is!! This one I got majorly writer’s blocked on, but it’s @scurator ‘s summer of love prompt!

“Not gettin’ snogged for nothing,” John shrugs, not looking at Paul, and spins the bottle.

Horrifyingly, it lands on George.

“Bet you’ve been waiting for this too, Hazza?” John leers, getting to his knees to lean across the circle, and Ringo wonders how John is able to sound so confident when he’s sporting such a visible semi through his underwear.

George adjusts himself across from John, but he doesn’t say anything. His level stare and thin set to his mouth say more than enough, despite the odd tremor in his legs.

“Used to follow me and Cyn around— sorry she can’t be here, love. You’ll just have to pretend you’re snogging her, won’t you? Or will that not be a problem for you?”

In a moment, George’s hand is in John’s mop of hair. His fingers dig in, and from his seat, Ringo sees John wince. A second, a beat— the cogs in George’s brain are almost audibly turning. He jerks John in, and with it, John’s eyes flinch closed in pain. They open again after a second, the pair staring at each other, and all Ringo can think of is how thankful he is he never got involved in whatever psychodrama the other lads have. He can see it playing out now, in bright technicolor across their faces, as the muscles in George’s arm bunch like he’s preparing for a blow.

“You,” George whispers, and he would be inaudible if Ringo were sitting any farther away. George bites his own lip, takes a sharp breath in through his nose. “You’re just jealous I kissed Paul better than you ever could. Coward.” He spits the last word like a curse, and Ringo swears his heart stops.

Forget green, Paul’s face has now cycled through every color on the rainbow, landing decisively on sheet white. He doesn’t move towards the other lads, though, but watches them with careful eyes.

John moves first, and fucking hell, it’s to whip his head forward, cracking his and George’s skulls together with a sound like twigs snapping. George goes down hard, and his eyes are wide with shock as somewhere, the bottle rolls to the side of the room, forced away from their circle by his fall.

There’s a moment where Ringo thinks ‘This is it, this is the only way this could end,’ as blood trickles from George’s nose, but there’s not enough time for Ringo to move, not even enough for George to wipe the blood from his face. John adjusts his glasses and then is on him again, crashing their mouths together like a solid punch.

From the back of his throat, George makes a surprised noise, just as John’s hands land on his jaw. It’s only to pull him closer, his hands gripping at the sharp hinge like a lifeline, and that seems to be enough for George to close his eyes. Their teeth are clicking together, and George snares John’s hair, pulling him closer until it looks almost painful.

So my dream plot that I don't feel capable of writing myself is this canon divergence story where, in 1968 John tries to get custody of Julian and, feeling backed into a corner, Cyn retaliates by incriminating him for his drug use, in order for him to be barred from custody, but he also may end up doing jail time cause of this, which wasn't what she wanted but he forced her hand. Paul is caught in the crossfire of this, gets forced to testify. John FREAKS. Some Yoko v. Cyn interaction would be great. + of course a whole public uproar.

The best person to write it would be some expert in British criminal and civil code during the 60s.

TBH my toxic trait is that I kind of love reading stuff I find Kind Of Bad. The thing that will make me click away is if it's really boring to me, but I'm not intimidated by most hallmarks of "Bad fanfic".

Buddy Daddies Vol 3

Alright! I’m wide awake and have Buddy Daddies vol 3~ forgive my blankets in my pictures… I am not bothered to get out of bed…

Let’s begin!

The package arrived in shiny plastic - I noticed it was immediately lighter than the first two which had me worried lol. Nothing to worry — the bonuses this time were just very light/ small.

The box cover~ as I predicted in my last post, this one features Rei and Miri together with Kazuki alone. I was also correct about it being blue. I wanted a rainbow but hey, sticking thematically to colours works too!

We’ve all already seen Vol 4’s colour scheme so I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that maybe we’ll get variations of red/ pink and blue.

Now inside! Disclaimer: this volume comes with a serial code for a digital copy of the entire series (Yay!) so for this reason, a couple of papers (with the serial code) are missing. Edit: Turns out I cannot read as well as I thought I could without glasses - the code is actually for an hour special with Rei and Kazuki's voice actors. I can't share recordings or anything, but they play mini games. (Who can thread a needle the fastest, quizzes on small details in the anime [they had to remember what pattern was on Kazuki's underwear lol], folding socks fastest, a cook off where they make french toast and more!)

The DVD case! The only complaint I have about these cases is the fact that they don’t click shut — they’re cardboard, similar to the ED song album. My only fear is that stuff falls out as I put it away, but it’s a small fear and not really a big deal.

Disc on the left is episodes 5 and 6…. And disc on the right is the Drama CD Vol 2!

(I’m not planning to immediately translate it as I’d like a break after I finish drama Vol 1, but if no one else does it, again, I’ll take a crack at it lol)

The booklet! Same stuff as before is in it: image references of scenes in the episodes (the daycare especially). And a new art! You may have seen the left side all over Twitter — well, the right side is here too! Since it’s for the drama, and the drama preview is about Kyu-Chan’s stalker… I’m guessing that might be her?

Wellness Wednesday:

Looking to Finish Strong

I, for the most part, completed my main objectives and goals for the year - but by some strange test of fate I could slip up.

So...

For the next 4ish weeks (26 Days - 4 more posts) my plan is to be easy going, but mindful of diet and exercise routine. With widely surpassing my objectives I could tank/skip my workouts or diet and still come out on top of my goals, but I would like to end on the highest note possible - I would like my last weight to be the lowest I've ever weighed AND I would like to be able to say 100% confidence that I went a whole year without a chip, slice of pizza, or an ice cream cone - let alone a single order of take out.

As well - I would be excited to see my final stats on my exercises. To my current knowledge I think I have only missed 3 or 4 workouts - that's 3 or 4 days out of the last 340 days. I'd like to keep that stat below 5 for the remainder of the year if I could... again... for gloating purposes (don't worry... I have no friends so this sentiment probably won't leave the sanctuary of this post - gloating averted).

The Good:

I decided to simply my workout - and I am still seeing the same/positive results with the simpler workout. That extra stuff I did in November was unnecessary.

The Bad:

It's that time of year where the air is dry and my sinuses and unobstructed breathing is collateral damage.

The Ugly:

My sleep schedule has been trash since my Thanksgiving Break/Vacation. Feel like a walking zombie. There times where I have passed out in the middle of the day.

❤️ What is your favorite line that you’ve written in a fic?

I think I might have two, at least that I can think of right now.

One (which might not be a single line but it's all linked) is from my short character study Diarchy:

He [John] is like Tutankhamun, the fallen Pharaoh; doomed young, buried in gold and treasure, the mask he wears remembered in lieu of his actual face. How he longs for someone to finally open his crypt; how he fears for whomever might stumble upon it and suffer his curse.

I really like this because I find it a really creative and multifaceted simile. That fic is full of these comparisons to kings, but this one is my personal favourite in how out there it is while still feeling completely apt.

The other one is this one from Chapter 9 of I'm Looking Through You:

For nearly ten years now, he [Paul] had been tethered to John by the strings of their guitars, the ink of their pens mingled together like a blood oath, their voices forever joined onto the same track by the single microphone standing between them.

I worked on this line quite hard, I even asked my best friend for advice on wording it. It's actually kind of inspired by the bridge of invisible string, which also has a bunch of imagery tied to string-like objects in its bridge (string, barbed wire, chains, wool). I like how it centers and romanticizes the musical partnership because I think that's sometimes almost an undervalued aspect of their relationship!

👻 What is your wildest headcanon?

I feel like this question doesn't quite make sense in RPF context lol, but I'll say I jokingly headcanon that when John shouted Winston Churchill during circlejerks he sincerely thought that old guy was hot <3 Also, I'm a Day Tripper tinhatter Every Day Of The Week.

🦋 Which character is your favorite to write?

I think it's still Paul though perhaps I've now also tamed John enough to consider him an equal. Paul comes to me a bit more naturally (though he also pulls the brakes on the plot all the time) but I find John a bit more… Illuminating I guess. Some funny things fester in his mind and it's fun to poke around them.

🦈 Which character is the toughest to write?

I feel like it's Ringo because his perspective is just in general the least considered in fandom so he requires more active attention on my part. He's also quite understandable though, and writing about his specific insecurities made me extremely sad multiple times.

Also if anyone else wants to send one… :)
