Top 10 best songs of T-ara

T-ara is one of the finest South Korean girl groups due to their catchy themes, upbeat music and amazing choreography. T-ara was the also the first girl group in South Korea to release a full length album in 2009 with fourteen songs! Their debut album established them among the top girl groups to look out for in the year 2010 thanks to their hit song “Bo peep bo peep”. The song was so popular that television variety shows had a tagline saying that there was no one in the country who did not know the song and if there was someone like that, then he must be a spy!.XD. The following list is my opinion on the best songs by T-ara.

Why are you being like this?(Wae Ireoni): This was T-ara’s first song with their new member Hwayoung. The song is a blend of retro pop and disco. The MV broadly focuses on the members encouraging Jiyeon to open up to her love interest. This song received 2 consecutive wins on M. countdown for this comeback. 

Like the first time: Like the first time was chosen over Bo Peep Bo Peep for determining the title track of absolute first album through a public poll, however CCM went ahead with bo peep bo peep as the title song and promoted it. Must say that was a smart move but like the first time hits differently. It’s something so sensual, so soothing about this music and the singing that you cannot get over it. Also, this song was produced the Bang Si Hyuk! need I say more?

Cry Cry: “Cry Cry” peaked at number 1 on the Billboard Korea K-Pop Hot 100 and won two consecutive first-place awards on M! Countdown. The music video for “Cry Cry” was noted for having One billion Korean won production budget and a thirty-minute drama story line starring Cha Seungwon and Ji Changwook.

I go crazy because of you: T-ara held their comeback performance on the same day as the sng’s release on M! Countdown, and won several music awards for “Neo Ttaemune Michyeo” over the course of their promotions: two consecutive Mutizen wins on Inkigayo and one first place award on M! Countdown.

Roly poly: The single became a breakthrough success, becoming the top-grossing and highest-selling single of 2011 in South Korea with over four digital million units sold. “Roly-Poly” was awarded Best Music Video at the 3rd Melon Music Awards and Singer of the Year (July) at the 1st Gaon Chart Awards, and was nominated Best Dance Performance by a Female Group and Song of the Year at the 13th Mnet Asian Music Awards. It officially established them as the top 3 girl groups in Korea needless to say they entered the forbes list of power celebrities due to the songs popularity.

Sugar free: This album included an English version of “Sugar Free”, which was the first song T-ara had recorded in English, which charted at No. 4 at Billboard’s World Digital Single and No. 12 at Billboard’s World Album.

Lovey dovey: T-ara did the zombie concept before it was cool. And not to mention the shuffle dance which still remains popular. “Lovey-Dovey” scored the number one position on the Gaon singles chart, which is the Korean equivalent to the Billboard Hot 100. In 2012 “Lovey-Dovey” has achieved digital sales of over 3.7 million in South Korea alone

Day by day: The second part of the music video was released in August, 2012. The song reached number 2 on the Gaon Weekly Digital Singles Chart and the Billboard Korea K-Pop Hot 100.It was announced on June 12, 2012, as a 20-minute music video drama starring the group themselves in a science-fiction setting.

Number 9:The EP reached number 2 on the South Korean Gaon Weekly Albums Chart and number 45 on Japan’s Oricon Weekly Albums Chart as a Korean import. The single “Number 9” reached number 5 on the Gaon Weekly Digital Chart and number 4 on Billboard’s Korea K-Pop Hot 100.

Sexy love: Two singles, “Sexy Love” and “Najgwa Bam (Love All)” (낮과 밤, “Day and Night”), were released from the album on the same day, with “Sexy Love” peaking at number four on the Gaon charts and number three on the Billboard Korea K-pop Hot 100 charts.

Also there were 2 other songs which I wanted to include in the list but didn’t because they are collaboration songs.

1.Time to love: In September 2009, Eunjung, Soyeon, Hyomin and Jiyeon collaborated with labelmates Kwangsu, Jihyuk, and Geonil of Supernova for the single “TTL (Time to Love)”. It was released on September 15, 2009, and became both groups’ first number one song as it topped many of the online charts. They performed a cameo of this song on High Kick 2.

2. We were in love: T-ara and Davichi released their Christmastide ballad, “Uri Saranghaetjanha” on December 23, 2011 which was later included on T-ara’s Funky Town re-release album. The single reached number one on the Gaon Chart and peaked at number two on the Billboard Korea K-Pop Hot 100.

Just randomly watched T-ara first win and couldn't control my tears. They serioulsly deserve the best and also the stage!!! It had 2pm, snsd, after-school and not to forget song joongki was the host! It's so heartwarming to see 2nd gen support each other and genuinely congratulating each and no awkward interactions between the boy groups and girl groups ( tb to the time when they were all really good friends) and yuri randomly dancing bo peep bo peep when t-ara was giving out their thank you message and seohyun hugging soyeon giving that feeling out that she's come so far and that she deserves it. It's just too beautiful. Also can I talk about the cute hankbok-dress which is something that needs to be acknowledged that kpop girl groups likeT-ara  wore it even before the new gen fans claim it to have originated from their fave girl groups 🌞.
