One random thing I find interesting is like with the writers and SAG actors strike, for a surprising high number of American Cinematheque screenings this month they're relying on podcast hosts to present at these showings. Like 19 movie related podcasts have time slots for the last two weeks alone!
Obviously I kind of get it because of the strike but wowzers does that seem like a podcaster overload. Very curious about turnout.
Also, one last thing: I got totally conservative boring vibes from that trailer of that A24 musical. Like the two leads seem like squares while everyone else in the movie seems much more interesting, I could be wrong but that's totally the vibe I get. (Then again, I also wouldn't be surprised if my pre-judgment in thinking that the Nathan Lane/Megan Mullally characters will also be square and dull.) Also, the movie looks cheap in a bad way but again, maybe it'll be sneaky decent. idk. it's also directed by the dude who did Seinfeld episodes, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Borat and Bruno, yes he has some of my name in his name but those credits don't spell out give this man a movie musical. idk!
I'm also offput by the lack of Bowen Yang dialogue, like his character looks eccentric, that's fine but I hope he actually has dialogue. idk.
on the other hand, despite being a gravitas V movie, I'm kind of curious about the Slotherhouse movie where it appears that a cute sloth goes on a kiling rampage at a college dorm that houses 30-year old college students. so my millage and your millage may vary!

The Fox and the Bear (part 1)
"Hello kids! A-A-And welcome to F-Freddy Fazbear's P-Pizzeria!" Freddy exclaimed, a creepy look spread across his once happy face. His blue eyes seemed different, and his hat an tie seemed stained or something. They were a dark green. The date was November 26th, 1984. I stared sourly at the table in front of me... and Cristy held a solemn expression. "What happened to that ball of sunshine..." She mumbled.
I didn't know... nobody seemed to know why the animatronics whole demeanor seemed to change. "Maybe he just misses the Boseman kids. Ya know." I said. "Girls! Can you help me move the main trio off the stage and into Pirate's Cove!?" Phillip yelled at us from across the room. "Sure Mr. Guy! One sec!" Cristy said. "I call dibs on Freddy!" I squeaked. "Of course you do." Cristane scoffed.
Phillip had already started to move Bonnie. Freddy was my favorite. Can you blame me? I really liked Foxy too... but he had been acting weird lately. Like all the crew had. It was really sad. I walked over to the stage, and my best friend followed behind me.
"What do you think happened?" She whispered. "To all the kids I mean." She whispered. I felt my heart fall into my stomach. "I think William did it... honestly. He's never liked kids... and he hated the Boseman kids." I whispered. "Why would my Uncle kill my friends?" She asked. "I don't know." I whispered. Christane Kile had been adopted by Vincent and Scott Afton after they got married. I already knew the two, and me and Cristy just seemed to click. We both had an interest in music, me being a good singer and she could totally rock out on a guitar.
But... what else could have happened to Gabriel? He wouldn't just run off would he? I mean... it was Gabriel Boseman we were talking about. He would never do such thing. There was a chance he was kidnapped... but... those words told me otherwise. "There's the most of Cassidy Boseman's blood... but there also seems to be a lot of Gabriel's." The voice said. I hid around the hall... where the "secret hideout" had been. I covered my mouth. "What do you think happened?" Another voice asked. "There's too much to say any of these kids are alive." I heard the first say, ignoring the second's question.
I felt tears clouding my eyes and I stared down. "Oi!" Cristy snapped, slapping me in the shoulder. I ran into the stage after being caught up in the flashback. I coughed in pain from running into the hard stage. "Ow. Fu-" "Please watch your mouth Miss (L/n)." Phillip said. Wow. Dad vibes (Ketchup). "Sorrry Daddd." I joked. He raised an eyebrow at me and Cristy laughed. I climbed onto the stage and stared up at the huge animatronic. "Arent these things supposed to be kid friendly? How come they're so tall? I'm sure you've asked Mr. Emily or Mr. Afton." I said. "Henry said it was because of all the programming and such. Mechanics... they work real well, they're just big." He said.
I shrugged and poked Freddy. "Come on my guy, to the other stage we go." I said. He didnt move. He just stared down at me. "Please?" I asked him. He still just stared, meaninglessly. "I'll boop your nose!" I snapped. He instantly started moving after I said that. "IT WORKED!!! HOLY SHI-" "MISS (L/N)!!! LANGUAGE!!!!" Phillip snapped. "Sorrrrey..." I said. Freddy climbed onto the stage and stood in his spot... Bonnie beside him. "Chica. Les go bish." Cristy said. She actually listened to Cristy and followed her.
.
《Hours Later...》 (lol last scene was pure crack)
.
"Everyone out please! Thank you!" I heard Phill yell. Me and Cristy were brainstorming in the girls bathroom. Which was pretty clean, being a bathroom. I sat on the counter and Cristy stood. "Come on. I have an idea." She said. We peeked out, and Phillip was stomping to Mr. Emily's office.
"Okay. Now." I said. We went over to Fredbear, who seemed to be panting. I climbed onto the stage and glanced at Freddy, who had an even creepier expression on than earlier. "Since when did Freddy have a unibrow?" I asked Cristy. She snorted. "Uh... maybe Gabriel drew it on him. With sharpie." She said. She tied her messy hair back.
"Alright. Test one." She mumbled. She knocked on Fredbear's normally hollow sounding stomach... which now it sounded full. "The hell?" I mumbled. "Language (Y/n)." Cristy teased. My cheeks tinted pink. "Aw shut up." I said. "Okay. Help me pull." She said. I nodded, and we both gripped the stomach plate of the yellow bear I noticed stains around it. We took one hard yank and we both fell back. "Ow my ass." I whined. I opened my eyes and cold, light blue eyes stared back. Cassidy's body was shoved into the bear.
A pure scream of horror escaped my lips and I fell back off the stage. As I took in the smell, vomit splattered against the ground. It burned the hell out of the back of my throat. Warm tears streamed down my face and I stared, shriveled back against the ground... at the girls body. Phillip came running, and William waltzed in right after.
"I-It's Cassidy." Cristy stammered. "I kinda like Cassidy... is that weird?" Cristy asked me one morning. "No of course not. Hey! You take after your dads I guess. Am I right?" I told her. She laughed a little. Now tears were streaming down her face as she pulled the girls body carefully from the bear. Multiple of her limbs appeared to be broken... and stab wounds littered her body. The taste of Dr. Pepper was on my tongue. Gross.
I hiccupped and William sighed. "I was afraid this would happen." He said. He made this whole speech on how Boseman broke his nose. "It was your own damn fault jackass! -hic-." I snapped. "Shut up you little brat." he snapped. "You might've killed them. That's why you don't care!" I snapped. "Come on Cristy. You need to get home." William said. "Call my dad. I want him to pick me up." Cristy sobbed, holding Cassidy's body close. My heart dropped to my stomach again.
I looked at Freddy, and his head was turned towards William. "Well then. I will." He said. He ran off to call Vincent. "Go look in Freddy (Y/n)..." Cristy mumbled. I walked over and the animateonics head snapped towards me. His jaw dropped down and his head tilted to the side. Green... they were green. The bowtie and top hat. I pulled on Freddy's stomach... and I couldn't see in properly. I reached in and my fingers touched ice cold skin. I gripped it, and it felt like an arm. I pulled and I saw who it belonged to. Gabriel's scared... pained face was staring at me. His once life filled eyes were almost white the blue was so light.
To Be Continued...
Sorry it took longer than I said it should. I got caught up in homework. School and all. Sucks right?
- Izzy :)

Tumblr media
Synopsis
Emerson, an ultra-wealthy New England coastal town, has held a strong religious belief in self-preservation and personal success for just about three centuries. This way of life is so deeply ingrained in the town’s history, politics, and culture that now things are reaching an untenable state.
The year is 1997 and the older methods of subtleties and negotiation have deteriorated as the stakes have risen, the egos have multiplied, and the competition has stiffened. People are resorting to sabotage. Slander. Smear campaigns. Shaming. Framing. Arson.
Murder.
A month before your senior year at Emerson Prep starts, you get caught up in the violent crimes of two of your classmates. The course of your life takes a sharp turn into the macabre as you get your first peek behind the curtain of your Machiavellian hometown. Quickly swept up in a series of sabotage missions and contract killings that take Emerson by storm, are you a victim of circumstance? Just along for the ride?
Or a willing accomplice?

Hey I was wondering if you can talk a little about each of the members weki meki's personalities? I want to start getting into them more
ooooh! sure thing!
so first is Suyeon, the leader, who they jokingly refer to as “hyung” because she’s kind of a bro, lol. i love that about her. she’s cool, she’s weird, she’s a perfect leader for this goofy ass group. like a lot of main vocalists, she also doesn’t seem to care that much for some of the intricacies of being an idol haha. she cares about her image to an extent, just as any person in that situation would, but by comparison to other idols lmao Suyeon seems like she doesnt give a flying fuck whatsoever haha. which is awesome. she’s kind of known for swearing on camera without thinking about it, and messing around with the other members and laughing riotously. but also, i can’t finish this without talking about how great a leader she is. she’s not necessarily good at reining in their chaos, especially when she starts the chaos, but she is good at bringing out the best in all of them and they all trust her completely. when theyre just hanging out, she can be kinda casual and forget to be a leader, leading to members like Rina exasperatedly telling them to quit goofing off haha. but when theyre doing idol stuff like performances or shows, Suyeon takes charge and takes care of them.
Elly is silly too lol. Suyeon wasn’t part of the original predebut lineup when it was first announced, and Elly probably would have been the leader in that case, so she has some leader-like qualities too! the members have talked about how she took care of them when they were trainees and stuff. but... i feel like since she’s not the leader, she’s free to be even sillier, and she’s relishing in that freedom lol.
Yoojung is a little ball of energy, especially back closer to their debut. she’s actually mellowed out a lot over the years, but that tends to happen when you hit your 20s lol. she can still be a ball of wild chaotic energy though. she’s surprisingly introspective too though, and she can be really hard on herself, but that’s related i think to just how passionate she is about what she does. i could say a lot more about her obviously, but i’ll stop here haha
people who dont really know them sometimes think that Doyeon doesnt seem to fit in at first glance, and in some videos she kinda spaces out while everyone else is talking, but she fits in a lot better than they realize. she’s just as weird as any of them, she’s just like... introverted lol. and busy, and tired. but when she has fun with them, she goes just as crazy as everyone else, if not moreso sometimes lmao
Sei is great, she’s been described as being like human green tea lol. she talks kinda slowly, which is endearing haha. she’s just a relaxing person. but she also has another layer of being kinda savage or chaotic too a little bit, especially i think in her friendship with Doyeon, which can kinda be one of those “Tom and Jerry” friendships sometimes
Lua is interesting because her newfound confidence and attention-grabbing look are a really cool development, but her personality hasnt really changed, which is good. she’s probably the goofiest member of this goofy ass group. she and Yoojung are the “mood-makers”, because theyre always bouncing off walls and dancing and yelling lol. Lua’s so cartoony sometimes, but in the best possible way. i wonder if people whose first impression of her is her short dark green hair have any idea how much of a total dork she is haha
Rina is the most softspoken member of the group haha. i feel like she’s often the voice of reason. she’s probably the most “normal” member... but like, i said “most normal”, i didnt say “normal” haha. she can still get wild, she’s a member of Weki Meki after all. to be honest though, Rina’s the member i feel like i personally know the least about, because she doesn’t seem to jump into the fray as much as the others, and i’ve only been diving into more extra content like Weki Meki Mohae (their reality show from 2018), so i’m starting to get a better idea of what she’s like, but i’m not fully there yet. all i know is that i like her lol
Lucy is another member who i’m not super knowledgeable about actually. i tend to not know as much about the maknae lines of the groups i stan lol. she’s one of those maknae-on-top types though, i think. she’s the second tallest member and that makes her friendship with Doyeon interesting lol, especially cause Lucy is also really coming into her own as a visual. she’s learning from the best, i guess haha. i feel like Lucy is often getting into the fray and shenanigans, she’s a lively person.
I’ve only been stanning them for like a year, so if there are any OG kilings who wanna correct me on any of this or add to this, lmk!
a year ago, i had been into them for a little while, but i could not have answered this question. i could have told you about Yoojung and a little bit about Suyeon and Lua, and theyre still the three whose personalities i feel like i have the best understanding of, but i didnt really know that much about most of them. i listed Weki Meki as one of my ult groups, and i made “wickymicky” my url, primarily because I love Picky Picky and Yoojung became one of my ult biases really quickly, but i felt kind of guilty because i feel like i didnt really know the group well enough to put them on that level. i felt like every time i listed them as one of my favorite groups, i had to have an asterisk attached to it that said that i dont really know them that well. there are a lot of posts where i did that on this blog back then osdkflmskdgf.
but, like, as time has gone on, it’s become more and more true. when i first started listing them as one of my favorites, i don’t think i was lying, but it’s definitely more true now than it was then, you know? i listed them as like my #5 group or something, and now they’re my #2, and the gap between them and my #1 is actually pretty small now. i feel like i actually do know and appreciate all 8 members now, so when i say “ahhhh i love her” in the tags when i reblog a member, i actually like... mean it now. lol. the only thing i can think of is that i picked up on Weki Meki’s vibe really early on, and i knew that they would end up as one of my ults, but i just hadn’t really learned enough to back that up at that point. well, i have now, and i was right the whole time lol. my gut instinct was correct, i knew that i would love them, and i do <3

Tim Kile Flies Solo on New Release
Tumblr media
Founder of Grammy award-winning groups Arcade Fire and Wild Light, Tim Kile, has just released his first solo album. These Things Are Being Gathered For The Fire is a 10-track alternative rock album that pulls at the heartstrings. Elements of both bands are totally there -- the 2010s heartfelt vocals, banging drums, and beautifully powerful guitar shine through in Tim’s solo project. It’s so cool to be able to hear what he’s capable of when he has complete control over the sound.
Listen here!
https://open.spotify.com/artist/3ef9WOp08sNLnivXDtJmvW
Tim released six of the tracks as singles prior to releasing the full album, including the first track, “Wasteland.” This song introduces the album with some decadent guitar lines and fire drums. The production on this track adds so much to the style of the sound, as well. “Buddy Holly/Seazons,” the third track, is nothing like Weezer’s “Buddy Holly,” contrary to what one might expect. This song is much more chill at the beginning, it has a kind of slow-dance-at-prom feel to it. But then, it turns into something much more memorable.
Each song on the album has a surprise element, including “Nightbird.” The song starts out with a beautiful guitar melody fade in, and then some distorted bass lines start to layer in. The intro comes to a full stop before the first verse begins, which gives us mad Fleet Foxes vibes. Around the 2 minute mark, the song comes to a complete stop again, and a sick drum beat rolls in. It’s almost like there are two different songs within the track until you start to hear similarities in the melody and guitar line.
The album closes with “Providence,” a windows-down, driving towards the sunset, summertime, thinking about life too much, alternative rock anthem. The vocals on this song could be the most important part of the track. The fullness comes from the doubled main vocals and the beautiful, open harmonies. It sounds like a bunch of friends singing together at a campfire in the woods… and we love that.

Lima (A big disorganized hodgepodge of memories...)
-I bought a surfboard! The other day I successfully paddled all the way out in the weaker current near the dock (which is still scary because you have to avoid getting pushed under the pylons of the restaurant) and into the large break way out offshore and catching like a 10-12 foot wave, easily the biggest wave I’ve ever surfed, so that was super exciting. It’s also just beautiful watching the fish jump and the cormorants dive for small fry, the sunset behind the islands off the coast, and the evening swarm of paragliders on the cliffs of the Malecon.
-I’m starting to make friends: I have a group of guys I met at the outdoor workout equipment in the Malecon who train together (and the group is growing). Our whatsapp group chat is nicknamed Los Hermanos Sudados (the sweaty brothers), which i think is hilarious (mostly because it was my idea). The guy I’m closest with (Jhon, a personal trainer from Venezuela) invited me to the beach with his wife and some friends last weekend and afterward we had dinner on the open air patio at their house and played cards. I also spend a lot of time with my neighbors Andres and Ricky, and have been on a couple of fun dates with girls I met at the surfing beach.
- A lot of the fancy/expensive restaurants that are on the 50 best list (Astrid Y Gaston, Osso)  are very good but in my opinion not worth the big tab or the hype. The really impressive food for me has been at the more economical places like the dumpling tacos at Bao, fresh fruit, chupe, and ceviche in the Mercado Surquillo, lomo saltado in the menu del dia places, and the sandwiches and juices (pina or mango and grenadilla) at El Enano and El Chinito. Though my pumpkin risotto and pollo saltado at Tanta was incredible: that’s probably been my favorite higher-end meal.
-People here love grey Scottish terriers. I’m not sure if this dog is like a fashion or status symbol but they seem to be everywhere (like Subarus in Portland.)
-I live about 2 blocks from Parque Kennedy (the unofficial heart of Miraflores) and there are always people walking, buskers (watched an amazing group of 4 female singers kiling a harmony), street vendors selling sandwiches and anticuchos, and of course the wild cats (yeah, cats) that live in the park and are cared for by the people of the city. The city has a really live energy in general. There’s a bustle that makes it feel a little bit like if New York City was a surf town. So far, there’s literally nothing I don’t like about this town. The food is incredible, the prices are cheap, my apartment is amazing, the weather (and the women) are gorgeous, the sea is close by, and the people here are the most friendly I’ve met in my travels since Thailand. Everyone is helpful, kind, and extremely open to being friends right away (and the old ladies in the market call me “papito” and “mi amor”, which I find extremely adorable and welcoming). And in addition, I just really feel connected to the place I’m living, which is really fun- for the first time in my travels I have like my own place to live, walk past and greet the same people multiple days in a row (like the lady who sells arroz con leche, I need to learn her name). The one thing I haven’t really done much of is explore the nightlife, so I’m excited to make that happen soon!
-One evening, Fernanda (a friend from my surf beach) and I went to Malabar, the 38th best restaurant in Latin America. It’s a concept started by a chef called Pedro Miguel Schiaffino that focuses on recreating dishes from around the world using ingredients from the amazon and on avoiding preservatives, dyes, etc to create totally natural dishes. FINALLY, a high end restaurant that was worth the price tag! To me the fun of the meal was the contrast: in types and strengths of flavors (explosive strength from produce, subtle aromatics from herbs, etc), textures, and even temperatures. We had 6 things: Tika Masalu: a “banana ceviche”, raw sweet banana topped with cherry tomatoes, an aromatic herb that had a little bit of a thai/vietnamese food vibe, salty dried banana leafs that reminded me of nori, and a bright yellow sweet sauce. Jamon de Paiche: a cured “ham” made from the paiche, which is a giant amazonian river fish that gets to be between 7 and 15 feet long as an adult. Pato in Aji Negro: a braised or roasted leg of duck and a strip of rare seared duck meat with blackberries, more tiny herbs, a rich brown reduction, and some sort of crunchy roasted and crushed nut that also seemed like it would be really good in a desert with chocolate and caramel. Cocolon: AMAZING. A salty, savory, intensely flavorful stew of rice then fried in a large patty so the outside got crispy, served with shrimp, this sort of pork jerky, fried banana, and a “chorizo” (again made from paiche), and a drizzled in reduction/gravy made from the accompaniments. This is what I’ve always wished paella would taste like: something more approaching jambalaya. in terms of flavor intensity, but savory instead of spicy. Chocolate dessert (can’t remember the name) : A dense pastry of some sort of crumbly rust topped in a squishy white sweet filling (maybe coconut based?) and topped with a dome of dark chocolate but done with almost the squishy, pleasantly resistant texture of marshmallow. On the side was a crunchy roast nut that tasted kind of like caramel corn. This was one of my favorite contrasts of the night: the gooey chocolate-marshmallow texture with the crunch of the nuts. Coco y Pina: a coconut shell served with a sort of creamy, sweet flan made from coconut. The flan was served piping hot with a citrusy, bright, and freezing cold dollop of pineapple ice cream on the top and a drizzle of some sort of thin, sweet, brown sauce (might have just been simple syrup made from brown sugar). The contrast of this was insane also, hot, creamy flan and cold, tart ice cream. I also had a very passable old fashioned, which after months of not drinking any good whiskey was so welcome. Fer had a really cool drink made from gin with citrus  juices, some sort of salty ingredient derived from cacao, and aromatic herbs in it, served tall: really complex and delicious. It was also really nice to have company, someone to agree with me and debate with me on the food, share the experience, and swap stories and chat together while we enjoyed. 5 STARS FOR DINNER AT MALABAR.
-My buddy Joanie that I met doing the salt flats tour in Bolivia came into town this week and we met up to go to the Parque de Las Aguas with some of the people from her hostel. The park is this huge greenspace with tons of different fountains, including a traditional circular one with arcing jets and a parthenon-esque backdrop, a tunnel of jets you can walk through, and a huge row of vertical jets that are lit up in rainbow colors and then every hour perform a show where videos of peruvian people and destinations are projected onto a curtain of fine mist, the jets performed dances of color change and movement, and lazer lights are used to create 3D animals and shapes in the curtain of water. We had a really good time walking around exploring (and in the harrowing cab ride on the way there, where we were nearly compressed between two buses merging towards each other), then afterward we got some mexican food near parque Kennedy. Super nice to see my friend again!
-Went surfing on Saturday and got two of the best waves of my life, back to back: they were still green when I caught them (fast moving swell that hasn’t crested and broken yet) so I got the amazing feeling of riding down the steep face from the top as the wave as it broke and then turning to chase unbroken portions of the face, pushing down with my weight to stay on the wave as it got less strong and then feeling following waves catch up and pick my speed up again. I rode probably 150 meters on each one and it felt so amazing- I finally felt like a real surfer for the first time. I love that “aha” moment in sports, music, etc- when you’ve been putting time and effort into something really difficult and you get the first glimpses of what it feels like to actually succeed. Amazing. After my session, Fernanda and I went to go watch the Neon Night, a night time surfing championship, lit up by the huge on the water at Playa Roquitas. We got there in time to watch the women’s and then the men’s finals. SO COOL. The guys especially were insane to watch: they absolutely charge along the face of the waves, stomping over and over to gain speed, and the curving up to leap off the top of the cresting wave and spin 3’s and even 5’s, impossibly landing and riding out in the whitewater. There was stage set up with a neon background and huge spotlights going into the sky and we watched a local band from Chorrillos (pretty well known based on the number of people singing along) perform a sort of rock-reggae-latin blend that I really enjoyed (I don’t like pure reggae very much but this was enough of a mix that it was really enjoyable and fit the tone of the event really well).
-Andres taught me to cook lomo saltado: cube the meat and rub with salt, pepper, and cumin. Add to a pot with sliced onion, tomato, soy sauce, and a splash of pisco or beer, stew down! Make rice and fry potato wedges and eat everything together!
-Got a couple more really good waves recently- I’m starting to be able to occasionally catch a wave as it crests and really drop into it from the top, which is a crazy sensation- I went one day when the waves were huge (we got a safety advisory text from the city of Lima civil defense service to stay off the beach because of abnormally large waves and all the surfers were like “nahhhh.. We’re getting in”). Caught a wave that like fell out from under me and it was amazing!
-Hung out with Sam and Erin a couple times when they were in town: once we got lunch in Mercado Surquillo and then in the evening met up with them and Fernanda to go out for many different beers and play ride the bus. Another time met up with them and their friends Kirsten and Nick to have beers at Nuevo Mundo, drink more beers at their hostel, and go to Chifa Hou Wha all together for a big chinese food extravaganza. I like all four of those Kiwis- they’re immensely open, interesting, and lovely people. I especially love to talk to Sam- he’s one of those people who just has tons of information and cool stories about the things he’s passionate about, and we have a ton of interests in common.
-Had a day of surfing where I met an older guy named Pablo, who’s a farmer and has a duck hatchery and almost got robbed on the highway one time. Caught some amazing waves including one where i was like pumping and riding along the face all the way to the end of the right break, screaming and hollering the whole time and afterwards he was impressed that I’ve only been surfing for a few months because I’m already standing up quickly! It was a day where I felt really in control and felt all the practice I’ve done paying off!
-OSKAKA: This is the best restaurant in Lima. I went solo the first time and had an amazing experience: an amazing drink with this sort of crushed pink sorbet on the top, steak and quail egg nigiri, shrimp nigiri with parmesan, ceviche made from smoked tuna and crispy sweet potato and these little balls of something that looked like salmon roe but green and with a yuzu ponzu sauce that will haunt me for the rest of my life, incredible slow cooked ribs, mixed seafood sauteed in spicy japanese butter served in shells on a bed of rocks interspersed salt on fire (yes, on fire), and so many other good things. I liked it so much that Sammya and I went back like a week later and had about 8 more things. Some highlights that I hadn’t tried before were a salmon and shrimp roll with this citrusy, creamy white sauce poured all over it that was insane and a spicy whitefish nigiri. I also had this drink that was like a rum old fashioned and came served out of a barrel over a ball of cacao ice (super tasty but not too different, just really loved the presentation). I had the same server (Leslie) both times, who was fantastic, and sat at the sushi bar where you can watch all the prep happening, so it’s like dinner and a show. Both times I went here, I left feeling that for once I got my money’s worth at a high end restaurant.
-I watched Peru play a Copa America game on a big screen set up in the street next to parque kennedy and loved that experience- it’s fun to experience this part of the world has for the sport. I also watched a few games (including a Colombia match) at El Parcero- it’s a Colombian bar so when they scored things went WILD and the sassy lady next to me kept pouring me tequila shots from their bottle service
-Close to the end of the trip, Andres invited me to this event in Chorrillos called The Toro Fest. Earlier in the day, for which I didn’t make it in time, there was bullfighting (Ricky participated and almost got stabbed with a horn). Then in the evening when I arrived (with Andrea, a really cool, down to earth girl I met and danced with when I went out to the bars in Barranco with an American friend named Nate), there was this competition happening in a little ring surrounded by crowded plywood bandstands lit by a string of warm yellow bulbs hanging along the top railing. First was singers, then drummers, then dancers. Basically people from the crowd would sign up and on your turn you had to go in, chug a beer, and then perform in the thing you’d signed up for. After watching you the crowd would be asked “Se queda o se va?” (“Should they stay or should they go?”) and roar its judgement. It was really fun- there was a guy with a huge afro who played the cajon like crazy and then a pair of dancers where the guy was a professional and was such a good lead got paired with a really talented girl who could follow super well, so they looked completely choreographed after never having danced together before. Andrea and I drank some beers and had a blast watching everyone- I wanted to join the singing competition but it was ending when we arrived. After the competition, everyone headed over to the main stage where we got to watch a live salsa band (apparently a super well known peruvian group)- a huge group of latino guys of various ages with horns and percussion in jean jackets, led by this high-energy black singer with a shaved head. They were awesome- It felt so much more electric dancing to a live group, we danced a ton and had a blast!
Overall- I really loved this city. I maybe stayed a little too long, but it was a lovely place of food, friendship, and adventure.

How are the ROs at babysitting?
Gabe's a no-nonsense buzzkill babysitter and he's very, very efficient about it. He can handle a bunch of kids, troublemakers and goody-two-shoes, with his eyes closed 'cause he does it all the time at home 😂 He also knows how to give kids the space to run around and entertain themselves (also because that's a break lol) but most kids won't like him much cause he sticks to parents' rules like glue. But hey, they will always be bathed, fed, and in bed on time. Top tier babysitter; just pay him. 😂
As long as they're set up for success (pre-cooked meals lol), Kile is good at babysitting. Kids often tend to be too scared of them to push their luck or become quietly attached to them (for reasons they truly can't comprehend) so it's easy to get them to do what they're supposed to. Again, just set them up properly: Kile is doing bare minimum cleaning up and will not touch the kitchen if they can help it lol
Jack is great with kids and great at looking after them! He's not the best at discipline and resisting adorable pleading and puppy dog eyes tho so he's prone to being a pushover. Fantastic for keeping the peace and conflict resolution tho 😌
Jessie is similar to Jack here but she has some experience looking after kids and is way better about discipline. She gives off nice big sis vibes p much instantly and easily goes above and beyond to make sure kids are comfy and happy. It tuckers her out tho so she's also the babysitter kids can wait to fall asleep before getting up to shenanigans lol
Rain doesn't like kids and doesn't have a lick of experience with them. They'd probably default to treating a kid like a cat—leave food out, make sure they don't knock things over, give them space 😂
Rupan/Rohan loves kids! And they have a little sister (and many little cousins) so they know how to deal with and interact with them. Problem is they hate both abiding by and enforcing rules so they're not really someone you want babysitting alone 😅 Great for keeping a kid occupied or tiring them out at the park or somewhere, but R is totally a kid fantasy enabler (candy for dinner, TV until late, etc etc). They'll also help kids cover up their misdeeds so... v popular with kids, but they can't be trusted 😆
Vivian/Vincent hates babysitting but is fine at it as long as the kids aren't agitators. They're good at discipline but hate rowdiness and kids who figure out how to get under their skin have an easy job doing so—and then it's Vi making phonecalls for someone to come help them before they defenestrate a child 😂
Heidi is stern enough to be an OK babysitter but is not great at dealing with tantrums and gross messes. Kids tend to tire her out down to a spiritual level, she's not bad with them but she doesn't choose to be around them lol. Would probably call Jessie for help 😂 and if it's really hopeless and Jessie isn't available she'll tag in, ugh... her brother.
Curt loves kids and they love him back! He knows how to talk to them and how to turn unfun things and chores into games. He's liable to get carried away and forget to actually be responsible every now and then 😆 but overall would make a really good babysitter. He's massively popular with kids when he helps Father Gilroy out for Sunday school and other church youth activities (yes, you read that right 😂).

MC: So, we basically just need to have all these straight out before noon. I'll do the notes and designs, you'd calculate it right? Gabe? Uh... Gabe? You're okay?
Gabe *returning his senses: Uh, yeah, I'm cool with it. *Shit (whisper)
MC *totally oblivious: ...Okay then? *nod her head approving
Gabe *mumble: ...Shit! Fuck! Shit!
Jack: ...Gabe has a long way to go.
ROs: Nah, he'll be fine.
Curt: I'm impressed how's oblivious one could be but how am I not surprised it's MC? *smirk smirk smirk
ROs: We're all not surprised too.
Gabe *to ROs: Just shut up! (to MC) I'm not talking about you! Don't freak out!
MC: ...I'm not even freak out though...
Gabe *flustered: ...Sorry.
Curt: That's it! A home run attack!
MC *looking at Curt very irrated: Would you Shut up!
Curt: I'm not the only one...
MC: Shut up! Urgh!
Gabe: *gather all things and walk away with MC who's irrated by Curt
Heidi: RIP brother.
ROs: RIP.
Curt *after all ROs left: ...TT. I'm alone.
(Me aka Anon of fics in the box: Don't worry! Once I met you, I'll write the day you shine! "
Also me: Maybe not as much as Gabe and Kile though... Killer vibe! Murder!)
