writers love saying a character is good looking. in this bracket, you, the average poster, will get to determine who is truly the most attractive.

rather than by which character you like most, pick which you think is most attractive! (though some bias is OK)

rules: the character must either 1) be determined hot by some in-universe selection (such as a celebrity character and a fan poll) 2) have a character who most likely has no romantic feelings for them consider them hot 3) have multiple characters who are romantically attracted to them and like their appearance!

i thought about this for a while, and they should also probably have a canon appearance. sorry, tim stoker, but this poll will ask people directly to judge who is hotter to them, and you have no face and minimal potential to be objectively judged

if there's official art like book covers and stuff, though, we're good! it doesn't have to be a visual medium with a super set in stone character appearance

this isn't a "most sexually appealing bracket", and they can be a minor, as long as they're on the older end! (16-17) .

Inspired by @hotvintagepoll, here's another bracket featuring some hot vintage actors- but instead of being about actors from a particular medium, this one's about actors associated with a particular genre:

The Hottest Vintage Sci Fi/Fantasy Actors Bracket!

I'll be starting with a men's bracket.

Submissions for the men's bracket are open! You can submit in the google form below. Submissions will now be open until April 27th. Rules for who is eligible are under this form.

What makes an actor eligible for this tournament?

In order to keep this tournament on-theme and not have it turn into a free-for-all vintage actors tournament, all actors submitted should have some kind of strong connection to Sci-Fi and/or Fantasy media. This might mean that they're an actor who has appeared frequently in various Sci Fi/Fantasy works, or that their most well-known role is from something that's Sci-Fi/Fantasy. Actors who aren't necessarily exclusively or primarily thought of as Sci-Fi/Fantasy actors are allowed, provided that they have at least one Sci-Fi/Fantasy work that is considered an iconic role for them. You are free to submit actors you aren't sure count! I'd rather have more submissions than less. Just keep in mind that its possible some people may be cut if it doesn't feel like they really fit the tournament.

(Also, as a side note: horror movies with some kind of fantastical/sci fi element also count for this tournament!)

Other rules for submissions & propaganda:

You can submit actors who appeared in work from as early as 1900 to as late as 2000 (so pretty much it has to be 20th century). That way we can cover a range of classic sci fi/fantasy, from some of the earliest SF/Fantasy films to some of the cult classic works of the 80s and 90s.

You can submit actors and propaganda from both movies and television! It just must be from or related to SF/Fantasy material.

Please only submit propaganda where the actor is at least 18! This also means if someone's only notable and eligible SF/Fantasy role(s) is from before they were 18, they are not eligible for this tournament (even if they continued to act generally as an adult, or were in more notable sf/fantasy roles past the 2000 date cutoff)

Live action roles only; voice roles will not be counted for propaganda/eligibility

Actors who aren't considered primarily Sci-Fi/Fantasy actors must have at least one iconic SF/Fantasy role to qualify for the tournament; however, if they've had other lesser known SF/Fantasy roles as well, you are more than welcome to send in propaganda related to these roles, too!

I might put up an FAQ as well if I get a lot of similar questions/for things that need clarifying. In the mean time: submission deadline is April 27th- so send in your favorite hot sci-fi/fantasy men!

tired of tournaments where the well-known characters always win?

well guess what? in this tournament, NO ONE knows the contestants! not even me, the one running the show! all we've got is these little one-note descriptions that look like someone was trying to brainstorm some ocs, but stopped after a single trait or trope!

...huh? what's that?

well folks! apparently, even our contestants themselves don't have any more information about themselves! so what do you say we give them a hand with that? after every round of eliminations, a form will open for each remaining contestant where people can suggest an additional trait for them! the top ten suggestions for each will be put into an inter-poll (not interpol, FUCK the police) where our followers can vote on what gets added to who! the further a contestant gets in the tournament, the more developed they will become!

as for the grand prize, for the contestant that grows above all the others, what else would we give them but a name? that's right! the victor of our little nobody tournament will no longer be a nobody!

there are a few ground rules to keep in mind, of course!

these are nobodies! that means they don't have any links to any existing media! don't send in "firebender" as a trait, or it'll just get ignored! instead, try something media-agnostic like "controls fire!"

i don't want to see any trait submissions that have to do with pedophilia, incest, -isms, cults, or a contestant being an abuser.

fanart and interpretations of characters during the course of the contest are more than welcome! you can tag them with "#nobody tournament 2023" and i'll be sure to reblog! do keep in mind of course that other people won't necessarily see the characters the same way you do, and it's possible that future traits might contradict your original headcanons.

all characters generated by this tournament are the collective property of tumblr, and are free for anyone to do anything with, though i'd appreciate it if you linked back to the tournament so more people can discover it! and whatever you do, i definitely want to see it!

Characters must be overworked, whether it's due to an external or internal pressure doesn't matter.

Characters don't need to have a literal job to qualify, they can be overworked from a hobby, relationship or any other number of things

You know that trope? That one trope *Everyone* hates? The trope in which a well meaning antagonist to our heroes, one looking out for the good of a certain community, suddenly does something horrible and drastic to make not only them, but the ideology they stand for the most villainous of all?

and no, I’m not talking “well meaning” as in… they had a sad life. Their parents died or something. Etc.

I’m talking:

“This person wants change in a corrupt system.”

“This organization made up of a marginalized group only wants their basic living rights.”

“This person wants equality for their people.”

Etc etc etc. Only for it to drastically become:

“This person wants change in a corrupt system… so they BLOW UP AN ORPHANAGE OF GRANDMOTHERS.”

“This organization made up of a marginalized group only wants basic living rights… so THEY’RE ACTUALLY EVIL UNSYMPATHETIC TERRORISTS.”

“This person wants equality for their people… EXCEPT HAHAAA THEY DONT” That stuff. Stuff that makes you really question what the writers were really trying to get across.

But enough of that, let’s talk tournaments. With as much as this trope makes these villains blow up houses of grandmas and likely makes you, the viewer, want to blow up something too, you can now throw them at me and I’ll let them blow up each other!

Welcome to the Element Specific Character Tournament!

This is a tournament is to see which character that specializes in a specific element is the best!

There will be 10 different elements represented in this tournament, and they are:

Pyromancy (fire)

Aquamancy (water)

Aeromancy (wind, air)

Geomancy (earth)

Phytomancy (plants, vegetation)

Electromancy (lightning, electricity)

Cryomancy (ice)

Ferromancy (metals)

Umbramancy (darkness, shadows)

Luxomancy (light, holy)

There will be 10 different brackets to decide which characters of each element is the best of their respective elements. Then there will be a final showdown of all ten characters to see who is the best overall!

RULES

Be nice and respectful please. I don’t want any insults thrown at anyone.

Characters have to use the element that you submit it as (ex you submit Zuko as a fire character, not a water character).

If the character uses multiple elements, submit them under an element they’re best known for/most proficient at (ex Soren fire emblem can use multiple elemental tomes, but he is a wind mage and only he can use SS rank wind tomes).

You are allowed to submit as many characters as you want but it has to be one form at a time please.

No submitting the same character multiple times please.

Please specify where the character is from and please no acronyms!

Propaganda is allowed and encouraged but no anti-propaganda (aka character hate).

My time zone is EST and I won’t be active all the time to answer questions (sorry I got real life stuff to do).

There will be certain guidelines on certain characters and media (I’ll get into more detail later) this is because specific media can be weird on how they classify what power is what element. Especially with certain elements being more vague and loosey-goosey.

I don’t particularly mind who you submit as long as they stick to the guidelines, but I might have polls if I’m unsure about a certain character.

Anyways I’ll edit this post as it goes on if more questions are raised.

Elements, Characters, and Media clarifications

Do they have to be magical

Toph is going to be put as a geomancer. I know she invented metal bending but she’s better known as an earth bender and I don’t want her on both earth and metal brackets.

Since Aang is the avatar, he can use all four bending styles, but he started off as an air bender and the show is literally called “the last air bender” I’m going to put him under aeromancer.

Korra on the other hand, won’t be in this tournament at all. Even though she is apart of the water tribe, she doesn’t really have a bending style that’s she more attached to (I mean she was able to do three of the four bending styles much earlier than Aang).

Todoroki won’t be in this tournament. His fire and ice powers are basically on the same level of importance.

I’m going to in-act the same rule I did for Korra and Todoroki for characters like Kirby and Arceus. Just because they can do/become that element, doesn’t mean they are going to be in the tournament. Their whole shtick is they can be any type (arceus) or copy abilities (kirby).

The exception to this rule is Ben 10 with his alien forms. This is because the aliens will be considered as a representative of their species, since 1. people are more familiar with Ben’s names for the aliens 2. Not all alien species have an official canon name.

NO DEMON SLAYER CHARACTERS WHO USES THE BREATHING STYLES! The breathing styles aren’t actually summoning elemental powers, it’s a visual metaphor. Submit only those who can summon actual elements!

Both rock and ground type Pokémon will be considered geomancers

Umbramancy regarding dark and ghost type Pokémon

Luxomancy regarding psychic and fairy type Pokémon

Aeromancy regarding flying type Pokémon

Ferromancy and robots

Magnetism: Ferromancy vs Elctromancy

Why I am also calling Luxomancy “holy”

If the character is a god that doesn’t mean they are inherently a Luxomancer. They have to have something holy about their attacks.

Please don’t submit necromancers as umbramancers. Being able to raise the dead≠umbramancy, if the character can raise the dead ON TOP of general shadow/darkness manipulation they are allowed.
