His “Sidekick In The Chair” No Longer Pt.2
a/n: I promise that pt. 3 will be longer. Also enjoy Motivational Era quote Pav header cause I made it while sleep deprived
Tumblr media
You honestly thought that living with an alien inside you would be significantly worse than what it was.
Toxin would help you where he could. He would read recipes off to you while you cooked, he would help you with schoolwork and gave his opinion on your outfits albeit that the latter was unwanted.
There was just one thing that worried you: How was Pav going to react?
He was your best friend and it would break your heart if he didn’t approve.
“Are you sad?” Toxin asked as you set the kettle on the stove.
“Well, not exactly. I am just worried.”
“What about?”
“What if my other friend doesn’t like you?”
The voice was quiet, “I don’t think he has much room to judge.”
You scoffed, “Yeah but I just worry.”
“Too much.”
“Shut up.”
“Fine. But I crave chocolate.”
You rolled your eyes as you walked to the cupboard and opened it, “What kind?”
“Dark.”
You pulled out a bar of chocolate and began eating it, “Ya know, I think we should start training.”
“For?”
“Superhero work.”
“I see.”
You heard a knock at your door, you walked to it and looked through the peephole: It was Pavitr.
It had been a few weeks since he came to your house, you opened the door and  looked at him.
“Look what the cat dragged in.” You joked, letting him in. You shut the door behind him, “So, what’s up?”
Pav looked at you, “I- Well… can we sit down?”
“Sure, I got a kettle on for tea.” You said, wondering where his sunny attitude had gone.
He followed you into the kitchen and sat at the table, eyes watching you intently. You noticed but you kept your attention on the teapot as you filled it with boiling water.
“Pav-“ you started but were cut off.
“Is there anything you want to tell me?”
You thought for a moment before turning around with the tea pot and two cups, “Is there something you want to know?”
You sat down the cup in front of him and poured his cup first, then yours.
“Has anything… strange happened to you?”
“There is something.” You started, “But you gotta understand that… I did it for a good reason and I am happy that I did. It’ll be good for us, we can both be out there and we can help people.”
He looked at you with confusion, “I know that it is inside of you that can’t be good!” He said, moving his hands as he talked.
You were shocked that he knew and you were wondering how he knew, “He has a name.”
“Oh he does?”
“Toxin.” You clarified.
“Might as well name him ticket to hel-“
Suddenly the crimson creature partially left your body to look Pav in the eye.
“Toxin!” You shouted, “Be nice. He’s our friend.”
You looked at the creature as it moved back to rest on your shoulder like a messed up parrot.
Pav looked at you with a shocked expression, he’d only seen it on your bed, not as a moving creature, “That’s him?”
“Yes, and he can be really sweet, right Toxin?”
“Right.” It grumbled out, eyes focused on Pav, who was reaching for his tea cup.
“Well,” Toxin said, eyes now locked to yours, “Is he the Spider Man?”
“You told him?” Pav said, leaning forward.
“He can read my mind, he found himself.” You said, taking a sip from your cup.
“What’s it like?” Pav asked. A smile came to your face: he wasn’t completely scared now, more curious than afraid.
“Well, It is like having a second voice of reason in you that you have very little control over. He also is very smart and helpful.” You held out your hand for Toxin to move to and encapsulate. “He can also cover my body, which keeps me safe from anything.”
“Can you feel things? Like if you fall or if something gets thrown at you?”
“Personally? No. But I can feel the force of a hit. Think like went someone turns on a leaf blower in your face or really close to your body.” You stood to allow Toxin to cover you. He stood and slowly moved to touch you, it was like a thick coating of shampoo that was very cool to the touch had invaded you. Pavitr was very impressed by it but a concern can to mind.
“Wow… It’s kinda cool. It doesn’t hurt you right?”
Your voice had changed into a blend of yours and Toxin’s, “Nah, if anything it helps cause I have to remember to take of him and that goes hand in hand with taking care of myself.”
“Does he eat weird things?”
“He’s asked for weird things.”
“Like?”
You had to answer this very carefully, it would either alarm Pav or ease his conscious. “He has asked for human brains but only for the chemicals! Only the chemical phenethylamine!”
Pav regained a look of shock and was about to open his mouth when you added on a small yet comforting detail.
“Phenethylamine is also found in chocolate.”

Frances: Oh baby, what's wrong?
Cletus: I think I'm coming down with something. I've been so nauseous lately.
Eddie, seriously: Maybe you're pregnant.
*they sit there in silence for a moment*
Cletus: I don't know who's the bigger idiot. You for suggesting that, or me because I almost had a panic attack--
Carnage: Um... about that...

I liked Flash in Venom this week more than I liked him in the Carnage premiere. Which is weird because they're written by the same person, but also not weird because I can identify exactly what I didn't like about his setup in Carnage- he's drinking again, and is said to have fallen out of touch with everyone. Andi is nowhere to be seen or mentioned but I feel like her existence is inherently contradictory to that (obviously it's not her job to keep in touch with him but. I don't think she would vanish on him after how thrilled she was to have him back in both Space Knight and Extreme Carnage), plus the fact that both Savage Avengers and the Miles-Carnage-Red Goblin crossover event from earlier this year seem to imply that Flash is very much in contact with Liz and is a somewhat regular presence in Normie and Stanley's lives. Maybe I'd feel better about it if they gave even a little bit of explanation, as to why his friends aren't talking to him or as to what Flash has been doing this whole time instead of showing up in Venom or Red Goblin or ASM, but they don't. Poor character choices and glaring plot holes made by writers often kill my interest in a story.
And that's why I liked him in Venom better, even though his appearance was much briefer: Bren/Toxin gets hurt and they have no choice but to go to Anti-Venom (which raises the question of whether the kids have been purposely trying to keep him out of the loop, and if THAT'S why he hasn't been in any symbiote comics recently), and after healing him Flash immediately tried to get Dylan to get some rest and also asks him and Sleeper what happened to Eddie. He's in Attentive Parent Mode. He's asking for them to let him in and let him help. He's working on the Cletus Kasady thing. It gives me hope that Grønbekk can do a good job with Flash but also a concerned impression that as soon as he learned about Carnage's return he made a miraculous recovery from alcoholism and depression. Which don't really make sense for him to have anyway at the current moment. Maybe we're all just going to ignore that part of the first issue. That might be preferable actually

His “Sidekick In The Chair” No Longer Pt. 3
A/n: I rushed to get this little part out. Pt 4 will be a fight scene.
Tumblr media
Your mother woke you up, knocking on your door, “Sweetie! Pavitr is here!”
You and Toxin groaned as you rolled over, eye squinting at the wall that shined in the morning sun.
The door then flung open, it was Pav. “Let’s go! Come on! Why are you still in bed?”
He yapped at you like a chihuahua until you had your teeth brushed, fresh clothes and a spot of breakfast and tea.
He then told you what the morning would consist of and you were not exactly excited.
Candy bar wrappers littered the top of the roof as you laid, breathing heavily to the side. You had been working on mastering using Toxins abilities for hero work all day and you were ready to call it a day but Pavitr wasn’t.
“Come on! One more lap!” Pav said, blowing a whistle he bought for the occasion. He had been making you do laps, pushups, pull ups and burpees. He had turned into a very cheery drill sergeant.
Toxin swallowed the fifth bar of dark chocolate and almonds before speaking to you, “Is it too late to eat him?”
“It wouldn’t do you any good, He has no brains.”
Toxin grumbled at your comment, you raised up and looked at Pav, annoyance  prevalent on your face. “Blow that whistle one more time.”
And he did.
You opened your mouth to say something but before you did, a red streak flashed across your vision and you watched as a string of crimson darted towards Pav. Instinctively, you grabbed onto it and pulled it up, watched in horror as is plunged into the television antenna above Pav.
He looked at you. You expected anger due to the fact it could have wounded him but he had this huge grin on his face like a kid in a candy shop.
“That was so cool!” He shouted, running up to you, “I didn’t know you could do that!”
You had been hard at work for the past few days. You had made a sort of under suit and helmet that you could use to listen in on the communication line, which was shared with Pav. You also updated his suit to make it more protective.
He, of course, was looming over your shoulder as you showed him what exactly you were doing to his beloved suit.
“Are you sure you should be cutting that?”
“Yes,” you sighed, “I know what I am doing.”
On the other shoulder was another critic, “I don’t want to have to hear his voice in my ear constantly.” Toxin hissed out.
“Hey!”
“Shush!” You spun around, listening intently. Sirens.
Pav’s spidey sense was catching up on what ever was making the noise, “Is the suit wearable?”
You quickly sewed the arm shut and tossed it to him. You pulled on your own suit and placed the helmet. “One, Two…” Toxin surrounded you, leaving only the eyes thin enough for you to look through, “Check?”
“Check, check!” Pav said, giving a thumbs up. “You ready for your first fight?” He said as he opened your window but before you could answer, he threw himself out of it.
“You ready, Toxi?”
“Yes and I get a nickname?”
“Yeah?”
“That is really sweet, I never thought-“
“I love you guys but come on,” Pavitr’s voice rang in, “It’s go time!”
You smiled, “We’ll talk later Toxi.” you jumped out the window and felt as a rope extended from your hands, you were web swinging.
You moved and weaved around the buildings, letting Toxin go on autopilot, following Pav’s directions.
You looked down at the city, mind drifting to when Pav once took you web swinging. He pretended to drop you and that put a end to that but you couldn’t help the smile that came to your face as you think about it.
As you swung into the vicinity of Pav, you saw it: Electricity
Light swelled and then popped due to the voltage. Electricity seemed to flow through the air and in the middle was a man who was glowing blue and rippling with strips of purple. You and Pav made it on top of a building.
“Any ideas?” He asked.
“Well, obviously water is out of the question.”
“If we get to close,” he added, “we will burn to a crisp. Or at the very least look like we licked wall outlets.”
“What’re options?” You asked, “No close range not water.”
Pav looked at you, “Is he a conductor?”
“What?”
“Does he absorb electricity?”
“I know what a conductor is, idiot. I am just wondering if you are trying to fry me from the inside out.”
Toxin spoke up. “I am. It doesn’t hurt me. It is not fun though.”
“I think we should try talking to them first.” You said.
“What?” Pav and Toxin said in unison.
“No one goes on a rampage like this for fun. They must want something or need help themselves.” You said, walking to the edge of the building.
“But what if they are just a bad person?” Pav said, walking right behind you.
You smiled to yourself, “Then you wouldn’t have followed me.”

For @astriiformes's AU Roulette! The prompt was Fairytale and the fic ended up being not so much a literal fairytale AU as a metaphorical one where everyone is happy and gets along and Sleeper and Toxin get in petty discussions in the middle of the night like the shithead siblings they are. Also they talk about fairytales.
"Why do you look like that?" Sleeper asked from their perch on the back of their father's couch, imperious and cat shaped.
Like what? Toxin responded in the chemo-signal language of symbiotes.
"Like a pile of spaghetti."
Toxin was spread over Eddie’s coffee table, a mass of burgundy tendrils squirming and tapping against anything he could reach without having to touch the carpet. He wasn’t bothering with anything so complex as a mouth or eyespots. Sleeper wondered if it was because he couldn’t or because he didn’t want to before deciding that they didn’t really care about the answer.
What’s that?
“Pasta? Long, thin pasta in a tomato sauce? Surely you've at least seen it?"
A sense of amusement exuded from Toxin and a green-tongued grin split his mass. "Of course I've heard of spaghetti, and don't call me Shirley."
Sleeper winced at the subpar wordplay. Their tail tip twitched irritably. "I cannot wait until your host takes you back to South Africa."
Toxin only laughed obnoxiously. "Did gramps ever tell you any stories, Uncle Sleeps?"
"Never call me that."
"Sure," Toxin lied. He also made eyespots, specifically so he could stare expectantly at Sleeper. They could feel the weight on their plasma. “Jubulile’s parents told her folktales and fairytales and stories. Pops never did anything but try to kill me.”
“My other parent shared sense memories with me while I was at Alchemax,” Sleeper said when it became apparent that Toxin wasn’t going to leave them alone. “Father shared music and made sure Dr Steven knew which songs I liked best for when he wasn’t in the lab.”
“But no stories?” Toxin appeared to be trying to make legs, four of them connected to a shape much larger than Sleeper’s own but still covered in tendrils.
“No.” If Sleeper was curt, maybe Toxin would stop pestering them.
"That's kinda sad." Toxin was wriggling around on the table now like he was figuring out how to make a spine. "I mean not as sad as my dad trying to kill and eat me, but still."
“It isn’t sad at all.”
“Nah, it’s sad.” Toxin rolled onto his feet and shook like a dog until he had a be-snouted head and tendrilled tail. He looked like a four-legged muppet or a mop turned into an animal.
"It isn't."
"Yeeeah," Toxin's grin was wide. "Except it is."
"Fine." Sleeper jumped to the floor. Father's bedroom, the one he shared with their other parent and Flash Thompson, was just down the hallway. The lack of fairytale story could easily be rectified and then Toxin wouldn't be able to make any more comments.
Toxin followed clumsily, amusement radiating outwards from him.
The door was closed but not locked and there weren't any noises except for habitual breathing. Sleeper opened the door just enough to slip in, ignoring Toxin barreling in behind them, darted across the room, and leapt silently onto their father's bed, landing directly on his chest and knocking the breath from his lungs.
Their father woke with a gasp. He sprang into a seated position, clutching Sleeper to his chest. "What’s wr–" Toxin bowled father over in his uncoordinated scramble onto the bed as he followed Sleeper.
"Wha's happening?" Flash yawned, woken up by Toxin's jostling.
"Father never told me any fairytales when I was just-spawned and Toxin says that's sad. I need to hear a story so he'll stop," Sleeper explained, reasonably.
"I didn't–"
"That is kinda sad," Flash agreed.
"Told you so!" Toxin yelled from the foot of the bed.
"We listened to music together!" Their father protested. He settled Sleeper in his lap as he sat up again and their other parent cradled them in its tired mass.
"Still kinda sad."
"What am I supposed to do about that, Flash? I can't just go back in time and tell them a fairytale!"
Flash raised a challenging eyebrow. Toxin crept closer.
“I don’t really know any fairy tales,” their father said. “I always considered them too juvenile.”
“You expect me to believe you don’t know any stories?” Flash challenged. “You’re a damn reporter!”
“Exactly! I’m an investigative journalist, not a- a literature teacher! I–” father cut himself off. The frustration Sleeper had been sensing from their father cleared. He must have remembered something. “How about a tale of kingship, murder, and revenge?”
Sleeper knew enough about human children to realize that the story their father was offering them probably wasn’t meant for children. They also knew enough to realize that they’d probably prefer the story their father was offering over any true fairy tale.
“That sounds ideal.” They purred, their other parent clinging and sharing feelings of interest and warmth. Their father’s hand settled on top of them.
Toxin edged close enough to rest his chin on their father’s leg, slow and cautious. Father ruffled Toxin’s tendrils with his free hand and their other parent extended tendrils to him. There was no hesitation in either of them. Sleeper decided that even if Toxin was insufferable, he could stay.
“Hundreds of years ago, in Scotland, when kings were common and wars were fought with blades, two generals sought shelter from a storm within an isolated shelter,” Father began. "Three weird sisters– witches most likely –welcomed them with prophecy. ‘All hail, Macbeth!’ shouted the first sister–”
“You’re telling them Macbeth?” Flash asked, bemused.
“Shut up, Thompson.” Toxin craned his head unnaturally to shoot a Look at father’s human partner. “Nobody asked you.”
Their father chuckled softly at Flash’s flummoxed expression and continued the story.

In Venom 3, I want a scene where Eddie, Venom, Patrick and Toxin is on a rooftop at night and Venom explain his origin to Toxin, about the Multiverse, Knull, the Hive Mind, their kind Klyntar and how Spider-Man rejected them in various different universes and how he “ruined” Eddie life which brought them together. Basically implying Eddie was a rebound after Spider-Man broke up with them.
They all speechless and Eddie confusedly asked “wait, I was a rebound?”
Patrick who is still trying to process there is a freaking Multiverse, yells at Eddie “THAT IS WHAT YOU MORE WORRY ABOUT?!”
