just reached about 36 hours now on various trains and greyhounds. I have depleted my travel snacks and am resorting to eating a full unsliced Babka with my bare hands. have not had water in around 12 hours. I could have gotten some when this greyhound stopped in The Dells but was terrified of not getting back on board in time and having to wait around in The fucking Dells.

I'm so glad I didn't buy this book. I could not get through this book. I had to DNF at around 40%. I have zero interest in knowing how this book ends. The writing style wasn't for me. I kept rereading paragraphs in order to fully grasp what was actually happening. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone. I have an understatement that is getting overheated. While it's not the worst book I have read it's not the best either. Trying to understand the lore of this was frustrating. Once I got a grasp of what it could be something changes and how understood it was no longer applicable in terms of context.

I'll probably edit this later and go into detail as to what I disliked.

I just want everyone to finally realize that the gritty, dark, and “super hyper Hollywood manly-man-man” that we constantly see Robin Hood portrayed as in movies and media is just... it’s wrong.

He is very clever, an expert marksman, and his charisma is off the charts...

But the man is an absolute dingus, a himbo, a goofball, and without the people around him he would have been done in by the elites WITH GREAT HASTE!

The stories you see on screen are just... it’s what people think they want Robin to be.

But that makes him just “generic action hero who can literally do anything by himself and doesn’t need anyone else to help him, those around him are dependent on BIG HERO MAN Robin Hood to save them.”

And that’s... it’s NOT TRUE!

I would absolutely do anything for an actual telling of Robin Hood’s many stories but... from the perspective of those around him.

It just opens with like...

Chapter 1: “What a f*cking idiot.”

And of course “Chapter 1” gets scribbled out and replaced with “Chapters 1 - 34” because that’s the whole damn thing.

Again, ROBIN IS NOT A FOOL, but this is a dude with a DEX stat of 20, CHA of 19, and the rest were just garbage rolls.

Half way through someone brings up “THE MARKSMANSHIP CONTEST” and everyone groans.

“WE GET IT! HE HIT THE ARROW WITH THE OTHER ARROW! WOW! GREAT JOB!”

And then Will Stutley just goes off about the one time Robin missed an incredibly easy shot at a non-moving target from three feet away.

Of course every time Alan-A-Dale starts to speak on the subject of Robin it somehow turns into a MUSICAL, and everyone is just very confused...

“Alan, you know we love your ballads, but we all know that the good Friar is tone deaf and couldn’t hit a note that high even in his wildest dreams.”

Alan slams his hand on the table saying “IT’S MY TURN TO SPEAK AND IN THIS VERSION WE ALL WERE SINGING, DAMNIT!”

Will Scarlet begins to talk about how Robin and Marian’s duel in the woods was “AN EPIC SWORDFIGHT THAT LASTED TWO HOURS!” and Marian just chokes on her drink.

“TWO HOURS!? It was barely five minutes! We took a break half way through, Will! Do you know how HEAVY swords are!? Robin was not built for swordplay like that!”

Will just befuddled by this information sputters and tries to catch his wits and continue the story before Tuck interjects.

“Will, my boy, that’s not the type of swordplay that lasted two hours.”

The room explodes as Marian busts out laughing and John begins screaming at that response.

This ENTIRE time Robin’s band of Merry Men are just absolutely roasting him, and then we cut to an Epilogue where we hear from Robin himself for the first and only time.

“The hero history will surely remember as one man standing against a tyrant was actually the efforts of those around me and not myself.”

Robin spends that entire epilogue speaking so kindly of those closest to him, those who fought alongside him, who lifted him up to make him appear the hero that everyone saw and remembered.

But THEY were the heroes, and he was just the one who brought them together and kept their spirits high.

...

And yet, no, we get a live-action remake, that no one wants, of the Disney film and a bunch of GRUFF ANGY BUFF MURDER HAPPY adaptations instead.

Y’all, media doesn’t know Robin Hood at all.

It's important to note that Logan relationship to what he cares in regard to the kids is affectd by his gay relationship to Frank

Kendall is Logan number 1 boy and he's also franks godchild and the three move in manor of husbands and child logan is toxiv to kendall and Frank and they tolerate but then they both leave and he eventually gets them both back and Logan asks kendall where Frank is like a parent who spilt with the other parent

Kendalls importantace to Logan and his hatred of his softness specifically is tied to logans attachment to Frank kendall being rasied by frank and logan has both there traits and kendalls softness something that Logan critiques is notable quality of franks kendall is embodiment of Logans lover and he can't deal with it

And in contrast shiv is gerris godchild Logan thinks gerri is there and is helpful but he doesn't give her the same kind of power she can be thete and do things but she's still a woman she's not seriously considered as ceo it's a joke

Shiv isn't someone Logan is deeply comfortable with being literally ceo but dhe is still has power but she can never be one of the boys in the same way

Roman ends up helping but again he just like Logan so he doesnt use Logan until he got nothing left he doesn't really like himself that much
