Highlights of Jimmy’s Reacting to Double life animations stream:

-Jimmy getting really excited every time he sees an animated canary and going “is that me? am I the bird!?”

-Jimmy just generally getting excited whenever he was on screen

- “We’re all kind of loopy. There’s so much improv that we’re all a bit loopy. I think that’s why people like it [the life series], cause we’re all kind of crazy”

- Jimmy talking about how the soulbound was a good idea cause it meant that there were a lot of duos that wouldn’t have normally formed

- Following up to the last point, Jimmy saying “then there’s Grian and Scar. There’s everyone else, and then there’s Grian and Scar. They’re just meant to be. They’re meant to be together.”

- “I messaged Tango right after we died, and I basically said ‘I am so sorry... I’m so sorry you had to be paired with me’“

- Jimmy talking about how Martyn went to twitch con, and had a lot of people coming up to him saying how much they loved the life series

- Jimmy saying that he’s had a lot of people tell him that they really loved Team Rancher

- Jimmy talking about how he knows the life series is super important for a lot of people, and he’s glad they could make something like that

- Jimmy watching the soulmates explained video and realizing Bdubs lied to him. Apparently Bdubs was like “Yeah Tango did this so watch out” and Jimmy was super confused so he asked Tango and Tango had no clue what he was talking about. He didn’t realize Bdubs had lied until now.

Pearl steals things as a form of hijinks and mischief but unfortunately everyone in this little SMP is not willing to be silly and whimsicle with her. Why shouldnt she do a lil bit of theft!!! She'd probably give it back later. Just let her giggle and run a lil. She's playing fetch guys!!!!!! Please I just need her to have a happy episode she is my sad wet cat and I love her!!!!!!

What I like about the life series seeds

Something I rather like about the life series is that each seed feels fitting, or rather influences, the feel of each season.

Third Life's seed felt big. It felt like there was enough space between each faction, and that you could travel into the distance and find an entirely different landscape. This was helped by the differences in biomes, the desert vs forest vs dark oak vs spruce with enough hills and differences in elevation made it feel like the world was large.

Last Life's seed felt shadowy. The entire map was a forest, either oak or spruce or dark oak, and this reflected in the series. Great mountains overlooking the landscape, and the dark betrayals and murder which tore apart the landscape. It felt like each faction's base was hidden, mainly because everyone drifted to the sides.

Double Life felt unexplored. A large amount of the seed was left uninhabited, mainly because of a lack of resources, and the mountaintops where almost everyone made their home were clustered together, making Pearl's lonely tower just as isolated as the character. When Scar and Grian ran off into the savanna, it actually felt like they ran into the unknown to escape detection. I rather liked this seed.

Limited Life felt small. Everyone built close together, so people would operate relatively close by. Because of this closeness, the bloodshed and insanity had nowhere else to go, so they went up, dropping bombs on other people from unknown heights. No one went out further into the unknown, because everyone had tight knit groups and enough infrastructure to survive.

At least, that's my interpretation. I love to hear other people's thoughts as well!

Thinking about how, really, when you boil it down, 3l and Dl Scar and Grian’s tale is really just the tale of Orpheus and Eurydice.

They laugh and sing together, in the same old song and dance, again and again.

Scar is too reckless, too optimistic and hopeful to see the danger right before his eyes, and Grian can’t help but focus on the danger, the way the world works as it really is, and not as it could be.

 Death is too real for Scar, so he doesn’t think about it.

Death is too real for Grian, to the point where it’s all he could focus on.

The song continues, and so does the story, repeating and repeating.

They will hold onto each other for as long as they can, they will fight for each other more fiercely than they fight for themselves, they go through hell and back just to make sure the other lives one more day. When you get right down into the nitty gritty, there is nothing they wouldn’t do for each other.

How wonderful is that, to be loved so fully? How beautiful is that, to be so cared for?

Is it worth it in the end?

Because the end always comes, and it’s always the same. Scar can’t help but look back, because who is he to deserve Grian’s loyalty? But Grian will always be there, again and again and again, because Grian is nothing if not loyal to Scar.

They will die again and again, and they won’t go hand in hand, side by side. They die from each other, from their own fists, from their own love. They die from their loyalty to each other, their devotion.

They may have lived together, but they will die separately, murdered by a bond that cannot be broken.

And still, they sing the song again. They try again. Because it is always, always, worth it.

Happy finale everybody, came out a year ago today. Fun fact: this was the first episode of third life i ever watched.
