Oh yeah,the trans genius who's got a bunch of neurodivergent disorders with their autism being the strongest one,grew up as an outcast for being different and constantly put down and told how useless they were even though they were just trying to be accepted for who they were but then proved everyone wrong through hard work with their skills and high amounts of spunk and that has a habit of nonstop remarks that are always weirdly funny and a slowburn with the tough,rough and ultra strong gnc girl who's their best friend.Love that character!!

Was thinkin' bout how Hiccup Haddock and Percy Jackson hold up big time as childhood fave male protagonists while Harry Potter and Danny Fenton keep digging their own graves the more i remember about them and then realized that Harry and Danny were intentionally written as 'ordinary teenage boys' while Hiccup and Percy were written as disabled(Hiccup's health problems and his prosthetic + Percy's adhd dyslexia and implied ptsd)and not traditionally masculine(Hiccup because he dosen't live up to his cultures ideas of manhood and Percy deliberately acting not like a stereotypical guy because he thinks those are gross and weird).Yeah that'll do it

Since it's been a hot minute: Trans Hiccup Headcanons(with some bonus trans Astrid)

He started experimenting with more masculine clothes at around 4-5 years old and expressed an interest in using male pronouns shortly after

Stoick was always very happy and supportive of Hiccup, though this was mainly because he always wanted a son to begin with

The 'I think you brought me the wrong offspring' rant in httyd 1 was born of both the other insecurities Hiccup had about being a viking in general and also him feeling 'incorrect' and like he wasn't really a man (which, same bro)

He struggled with trying to be the perfect son for his dad for most of his life

Valka had a hunch from the minute Hiccup was born. She often made jokes about how Stoick already had a son, he'd just show himself a little later. When she saw Hiccup in httyd 2 she recognized his face and the scar and was very proud that he'd grown up to be who he is

Gobber was the one who taught Hiccup how to bind

Gobber would also physically fight any village kids and/or adults who tried to bully Hiccup for being trans, which was rare to begin with since most people were more concerned with Hiccup's lack of general viking-ness

Speaking of Astrid, her family followed more traditional last name culture, which is why her last name is Hofferson. She high-key hates this fact but the name 'Astrid' draws attention away from it, and unless told people assume it's some classic irony that a woman would have a last name that essentially means 'Son of Hoffer'

Part of why Hiccup and Astrid get along so well is because they understand the self doubt and the internal and external struggles of being yourself while also trying to be who everyone expects you to be

Hiccup has tried to DIY his top surgery at least five or so times. He was usually stopped by Gobber, other times he managed only one small cut before backing out

Being accepted into 'the guy group' was one of the best days of his life

As mentioned in my first trans Hiccup post, Dagur got the news when they were kids and, even though he didn't fully understand, he started religiously calling Hiccup 'brother'

Dagur's tormenting was also a way to try and help Hiccup 'man up'. It didn't really work as intended, unsurprisingly

The only villains who would be mean about Hiccup being trans are Drago, Grimmel, and Johann. Johann in secret because, you know, undercover/traitor stuff yada yada 😒

Also Spitelout. Spitelout would be mean about it

Gothi knows how to make what is essentially HRT gel, which Hiccup is immensely grateful for

BTW, I HC Hiccup as trans masc in the first place because I'm trans masc and he's a comfort character of mine so, like I do with all my comfort characters, I'm projecting. This includes but is not limited to the trans-ification.

Trans male Hiccup. Struggles with big breasts. He feels insecure and dyphoric(does that make sense? Idk.) so often and has back pain (because good lord. The back pain is real. I hate it.) Now, if this is set in the time HTTYD actually is. He wouldn't have a choice in getting rid of them or not. Unless someone just... Cuts them off? I don't know.

Now we all know Vigcup lives rent free in my brain, and it wants to leak its way into like, every idea I have.

Viggo lives after triple cross. And he goes to Berk when the riders all go back. He tries to help Hiccup through the dysphoria, not always all that successful. But he does have those moments where he shows Hiccup he doesn't care what parts he has. Hiccup is still a man. Viggos man. Viggo will love him no matter what. Viggo also give him back massages when the pain gets too bad. Sometimes these sessions lead to something a bit more intimate. Hiccup ends up too blissed to even have intruding thoughts ruin the mood.

Awwwwwwww, this really made me smile. Thank you! As a nonbinary trans man who sometimes has dysphoria, this really struck home with me. It’s amazing to have a partner so loving, and I can see Viggo being that partner. Trans man Hiccup is still a man! And Viggo will make damn sure everyone knows this!

was talking to an old friend who i knew a few years ago at the market the other day and when i referenced new my httyd hyperfixation she immediately replied with "hiccup is a trans icon honestly" like i didn't expect that from an irl but she's so right

Trans!Hiccup later in life becoming more confident in himself and coming to terms with the fact knowing how to and doing things traditionally viewed as 'feminine' doesn't make him any less of a man my beloved.

He canonically knows how to sew. Like his attempted cover was he was 'making outfits' so why not? He definitely made his own armor, he probably makes his own clothes when he has the time. He said he wanted to he a 'bread making viking' (and yes i knoe it was a hasty lie but hear me out) so I'd like to think he knows at least how to bake and probably how to cook as well. And he enjoys these things and indulged in them when he's able to.

We as a fandom need to abandon stereotypical nerd boy Hiccup in our modern Httyd aus.Let's be realistic-Hiccup is a huge dorkward but he's also one of the most transmasc-coded characters of the 2010s,was born physically disabled(weak constitution + smaller and more fragile than others his age)and has a prosthetic by the end of the first film AND was written in a way that made him be autistic with adhd,mdd and anxiety.He'd be a punk and i mean an ACTUAL punk dude instead of just an EdgelordTM,there's no other outcome that works speaking as an irl (pastel) punk

Thing about my story that coincides with trans Hiccup stuff:

Dagur, after essentially deciding 'mine now' when he found infant Magnus, kinda just.

Knew.

Like, he looked at this baby that had barely any awareness of itself, and got the same vibe he got from Hiccup when they were younger.

So, after getting (reluctant) approval to keep this tiny viking, he gave said tiny viking a more masculine centered name.

"That's a boy's name-"

"Give it a few years. Just trust me on this."

Sure enough little Magnus decided he/him fit way more by the time he was eight. Up until then he was mostly referred to with they/them because Dagur didn't want to try and force any specific gender stuff.

Viggo assisted with this.

Ryker was mildly confused but just went along for the ride.
