When I just saw this information I couldn't stop crying thinking about it, and now my heart aches. They were the same age as me, I know for a fact like any other teen they dreamt of their future, who they would want to become, what to achieve, create, wondering if they meet those in the future they can call friends, wondeting if it'll get better when they grow up, maybe wished to leave that terrible place or maybe wanted to stay. How could anyone let this happen, why were they discharged from hospital so easily? And the school, we all know why. I hate to think about how, even with all the progress made, these things still happen.

I hate everyone who have ever committed such vile hate crimes, I wish them in prison and hell. But i would never go down to their level. But I also blame the government, the school, and even those bigoted online accounts that teach their followers hate. In this case LibsOfTikTok, who targeted the teacher of this school, who supports lgbtq+, so they had to leave their position. It must have been the push for this to happen. I think their tiktok account has been thankfully deleten. But i have no idea about Twitter or any other. Please check and mass report them if it still exists. If you're trans and live in the UK, you need to start the process of getting your NHS details updated yesterday.

The Sullivan report came out on the 19th March and it is at least as much of a disaster for us as the Cass Review and - like the Cass Review - it is already being used to justify an overreach it does not explicitly recommend.

Within 24 hours of its release, the Health Secretary, Wes Streeting (a plague be upon his house), has banned under 18s from changing the sex marker on their NHS records and said that an adult ban is forthcoming (archive link of a Telegraph article).

Changing your NHS record is easy(ish) and free but it isn't fast. It does not require a GRC, formal diagnosis, or surgery. If you want to do it at all, do it now.

EQUALITY BILL PASSES IN NSW

Things this bill does for those in NSW:

allows trans people to change their sex on their birth certificate without surgery (prior to this, NSW was the only state/territory in Australia to require gender affirming surgery - and that surgery was specifically for sexual reproductive organ)

Provide a nonbinary option for birth certificate

Makes threatening to out someone's LGBTQ+ status or sex work history an offence

Repeals offences for living off the earnings of a sex worker

Gives extra time to register a birth certificate for those born with variations of sex characteristics (intersex)

Hate crime definition will now include crimes based on prejudice for a person's gender or intersex identity

Sadly it doesn't cover protections for LGBTQ+ students and staff at religious schools, but my understanding is that will be revisited under the Anti Discrimination Act.

So basically, Republican lawmakers want to force children to disclose personal, intimate details about their lives and bodies to adults in order to participate in sports...but are unwilling to do the same when asked by their own peers.

And tbh...I think we should do this more. I think we should make it very clear just how precarious conservatives' assumption of exemption from gender policing is, how invasive and uncomfortable and dangerous a world you create FOR EVERYONE when you start forcing people to prove their gender to anyone else to participate in anything. And we should make it clear the conservatives pushing these fascist, invasive, bigoted laws are not going to be exempt if they force us to live in that world.

To put it plainly: if you, you personally, conservative cis person, are not okay with being told to drop trou for a genital inspection to prove your gender, then you DO NOT want ANYONE to be subjected to that. Because if they can do it to anyone, they can and will do it to you.

So I went to Atlanta (Georgia’s capital) today for a school field trip. We met the governor, got a tour of the capitol building…cool. One thing we did was sit in during some Chamber hearings, which was basically the House of Representatives of Georgia approving or denying certain bills that came through.

One of these bills was House Bill 267.

This bill dictates many things about transgender rights, all negative. From trans girls in sports, to bathroom and locker room designations, all the way to trans hate crimes and even to funeral services. It was only supposed to be about trans females in sports. We didn’t sit in for the entire hearing, but it was live streamed on the Georgia House of Representative’s website, like all hearings are. I took the screenshot above from the livestream.

Bill 267 was passed in the state of Georgia, even after many Speakers came up and argued against it. It was only an hour long debate.

One thing I learned about the House from this experience is that 95% of the House Members don’t pay attention. The amount of times I heard sodas clicking open, chuckles and chatter; the amount of times I saw people leisurely browsing their phones or laptops as if they’re not completely fucking over innocent and guiltless people. Some of the Speakers who stood up there to give their piece even said things like, “I know you all aren’t paying attention, but—”.

I’m so tired. I’m just so tired.

People need to stop and think. People need empathy and compassion. People need to educate before they make these sort of critical decisions for people they don’t even know anything about.

I’m so tired.

There’s more little details I could say about this experience, like how the Speaker for this bill fumbled through questions about intersex people and how one of my classmates had to look up many words (‘2-Spirit’, ‘queer’, etc.), but ultimately I just want to leave with these points.

Please, please listen to your state’s Chamber hearings. I’m sure you can find them on their respected websites. Please, stay educated and well-informed about these things. They know people don’t listen, and so this is how they’re able to pass things like these unnoticed until it’s too late.

But most importantly, please don’t stop fighting. This has become a war of attrition, and I don’t know about you all, but I’m stubborn as fuck. I intend to win this war.

Good trans news! There are US states pushing to make legal name and gender marker changes easier. Washington is now expediting gender changes on birth certificates, speeding up the process to just 3 days when it used to take up to 10 months. Illinois no longer requires name changes to be published in a newspaper, either, making the entire process much easier and private.
