We're back, baby.

This was a long time coming and there's a long road ahead, but there will be BRAND NEW HELLO WORLD COMICS every day this week, including another new one tonight! This character gave me my first real platform and I'm not done with him yet, he just needed a little facelift to keep going ☺️

I hope everyone can understand that this is coming after a lot of work and soul-searching. I'm really, really excited to be making comics again, and I hope you'll support the new Eli on all of our upcoming pun-filled shenanigans ❤️

TECHNICAL: I only use old techniques by mixing certain processes from the 14th and 15th centuries with other practices from the 18th and 19th. I work the depth of the material by superimposing several layers of paint textured by mediums, which creates transparency effects. Hey kids, COLOR! While the strip is generally black and white, this gag just SCREAMED for color. I’ll likely put this on the inside front cover of the printed issue so the color will be retained for print. As for the content itself, the core idea is pretty straightforward: Transgender folks live our lives JUST LIKE YOU!

Another slightly depressing strip, although with at least a few laughs in the middle. Seriously, I’ve have been sat on by total strangers on a bus. I really was that invisible once upon a time.

This strip is another one that isn’t particularly funny. But it’s honest. This story idea of talking to my old self seemed like a fun idea and one that might be helpful for me to work through self image issues. But it turned out that I was putting all of my darker thoughts, fear and negativity into a memory of myself. I was giving my dysphoria a VOICE and it was getting louder as a result. As such, this series of gags is effectively over and I don’t plan on drawing myself as I was again anytime soon. It’s... still a little too touchy for me.

So, THIS is a thing that’s happening. A few months ago, I was invited to join UNLIKELY HEROES STUDIOS from publisher, Laurie Foster! They produce some really cool books, had some fun plans for “Finding Dee”, AND she’s been editing my novels, so we already had a good working relationship. There was every reason to say “yes”, so I did. So later, when Laurie Foster and I were talking about all the different ways to make the announcement, we went over a few ideas. Then THIS occured to me. I mean, "Finding Dee" IS about my everyday life, so what better way to announce the comic strip joining the studio then with an actual comic strip! Now, with this announcement, comes a BRIEF hiatus for a few weeks as I prep for what’s needed for that NEXT big announcement, so bear with me. I think you’ll all be excited for what’s coming. :)
