•💉💉💉💉💉! I can't believe I'm almost a whole month on T-shots! I've been keepin' busy to keep my mind occupied... but, holy moly, dudes. I am so happy with all the changes I am experiencing! It's crazy! 🔑🔮📌🔱🏝🎱🌈🥖🦐🏗✳️🃏🗞 •Everyday is something new. It's so, so fun & exciting. My voice has changed a bit! I can feeeeeel that my face hair (*screams*) is making more of an appearance as the days roll on by..... Why do I bother posting these essays every day? . I'm aware that my feed isn't the most exciting from a visual perspective. A lot of other trans women are far more interesting in their photography choices than I tend to be (except when I get to see the wonderful @wutography and she takes some great photos of me). . But that's okay - I clearly put more thought into the written bit than the photos. . My life is pretty boring, overall. I don't say that to be self deprecating, I really don't mind that that's the case. But part of why I do what I do on here is to portray a different sort of life for trans people. . When I was growing up, the only examples I saw of trans people were either porn stars, or the mentaly ill men in dress trope that permeates the media even today. . Now we have trans celebrities, and that's cool, but it's still not something a lot of us can see ourselves in. Not everyone aspires to be a celebrity, and in some ways they're hard for me to relate to. . Me? I'm just a boring chick who makes her living online and writes a lot. But if I'd seen someone like me doing what I'm doing when I was younger, I might have figured out I was trans a lot earlier and saved myself the regret of 30+ years living as the wrong gender. . When people in your life are being transphobic, they aren't even always being purposely malicious. Sometimes, as misguided as they are, they genuinely do have your best interests at heart. . That doesn't mean it's any easier to deal with. . After all, it's easy to just write somebody off when they're obviously hateful and cruel. That's why baby jesus gave us the block button on the seventh day of christmas. But when you can tell somebody genuinely wants the best for you and they're entirely wrong about it, it's more complicated. . That said, you are under no obligation to live your life according to somebody else's will, nor must you take every single piece of advice that comes your way, regardless of how well meaning it may be. . Your parents, your friends, your spouse, whomever - they might not want you to transition. But if you know it's right for you, what they want doesn't matter. . So how do you deal with people who, well meaning though they might be, try to impose their will on you? . You thank them for caring - truly, genuinely, because in their own ignorant way they do care - and then you ignore their advice and do it anyway.
