Ekvillan - 'The oak villa'

Ekvillan is a spacious family villa inspired by swedish architecture from the turn of the last century.

I chose to call it 'Ekvillan' - 'The oak villa' in swedish, since there is a big oak tree in the garden. It has a vegetable garden, bees, a chicken coop, and a treehouse. There's plenty of cozy little spots to hang out and eat 'fika'.

Fireworks Beneath My Shoes hhhmnmmm . . . this is also my first time listening to this song, so going purely off of vibes!!!

I don't think this is a thing in the U.S., but ik in Japan and Korea they have libraries full of manga/manhwa and ppl can just sit, read, rent, and/or buy books. This song is giving me these kinds of soft cozy, but somewhat nerdy (in a good way!!!) vibes, so!!!

S2L/high school!au where Vernon and OC befriend through the notes they leave in the books they read in the library told from the POV of the librarian! It's a hole-in-the-wall bookstore/library, kind of old, but the owners decorate it fun with like comic-strip walls, treehouse/loft reading areas, etc.

Initially, they just know each other as the other student that visits after school. It's like clockwork: Vernon comes in half an hour before OC, settles into the old red couch they have the in back. OC comes in, always glancing over to see if Vernon's there before making way to her corner with the wooden table. One day, Vernon passes by the table and leaves a book there with a note and it's just something cute like, "Hi I'm Vernon. I notice you come here a lot and just want to say hello," and the rest is history!!!

Notes soon become full-on conversations over manga/manhwa, then other aspects of life: where they live, how is school, what they wanna do, etc. Eventually, they do that cheesy teenage romcom thing where OC is sitting and reading while Vernon is laying in their lap also reading or vice versa 😭🤧 I'm getting very unwell writing this-

dream 1: back in the fantasy courtyard from last time dream 2: i go travelling & end up in someone’s huge house

this dream started off the same as the last one, but i remember a little more now! with the strategy shooting game in a fantasy world. this one the enemies hadn’t shown up yet, so i was just walking around looking at things. the sky was like...a pleasant light reddish pink? or maybe all the way through idk. warm light colored stone tiling & walls everywhere with pale trees. i think i was in the courtyard of some castle or something, but the size of the area i was in was inconsistent. one second it was really huge & sprawling, & the next i remember 3 walls. in the center area of the courtyard there was a fountain, or the fountai was gone, depending on if it was flat or small area. around where the fountain was/would be were 4 floating white columns that shot a beam up in the sky.

anyway, after that, i was travelling to visit someone, i think? i ended up in a small town in another state around sunset. i was eating dinner at a funny little place that had a cowboy theme & i ran into someone i knew, or they started talking to me & we were having a good conversation. i meshed with that friend group. casey also was there. didn’t like that. after night fell, i went with one of the people’s older sister back to their house (they were really rich & had a nice house that was bigger on the inside) bc the rest were still out & about & wanted to go to a bar i think? casey followed us. i didn’t like that. i told her about casey since i froze up & wasn’t able to say anything when he first showed up, & she was like “alright get inside” & i went inside & watched her confront him through the front door. i was worried about her that she’d get shot or something, & yeah sure enough even though she was bigger than him he started choking her. i ran outside to tell him to stop & at this point his appearance changed?? he looked like a dude i knew from my university pokemon go group like 5 years ago, with longish curly brown hair & plaid shirts & glasses. anyway he told me that nobody would ever bleieve me yada yadda yadda & it was my word against his, & i told him he was just mad he couldn’t get hole from any asian girl in the world, & then everyone else showed up & we went inside. i explained about casey & they were like ohh i see & then he dematerialized from the rest of the dream. 

also someone i knew from college that i HATE HATE HATED was there but i wasn’t even mad at him. it’d been so long i was actually happy to see him & glad he & the others were doing well. idk why he was there & at first we bitched at each other incredibly, but i realized i wasn’t actually mad & we ended up tearfully making up in & giving each other a hug on the kitchen floor?? wack. but whatever. i can’t say it was bad. 

the inside of the house WAS legit really cool. the downstairs was pretty normal. it looked like the inside of a kind of upscale furniture estore. it had those bowls with wicker balls. upstairs was all open? the second floor was a huge library sorted by element (?) & it had little treehouse type areas? short turrets that you could climb up & there were MORE books. they were shaped like. minecraft pillager outposts tower with bulgy except only half a store tall. & also an area like the discount rack at Ross for tons & tons of clothes (the older sister wore a lot of different colored skirts made of weird material like they make warm socks out of). & also the 3rd floor was like a bunch of hanging walkways over the rest of the house. they have in construction (?) zones or whatever, or big factories in movies, except these were made of a light colored wood. there was one “room zone” in the 4 cardinal directions. the north (?) one was cozy & it had a leather couch & gray walls. it was pretty much exactly like the gamer room of a childhood friend of mine. it also had a red electric guitar. another area was like a living room, & we were all sitting in there kicking back & having drinks. i wanted to keep exploring the house. i don’t remember what i saw but i remember continuing to comment on the size of the house.

"Yeah, only a few more days!" Chris said from the other side of the line, and you could hear the smile in his voice as well. "Listen, I gotta go, but talk to you in a bit okay?"

"Bye babe," you blew him a kiss over the phone and then you two hung up.

You laid back in your bed, a smile still on your face. When you were told you needed to go on this work trip, you were bummed out to say the least. It was actually supposed to end only a day before your birthday, you knew you would come home extremely tired, which could carry out to your birthday, and would also mean you wouldn't be able to travel to see your family on such short notice.

In short, it was a very problematic idea, and you were just about to tell your boss you couldn't make it, even though it could get you in trouble, but Chris convinced you that you should go.

"We can postpone your birthday by a day," he chuckled, and you pouted. "I know, I know, it's not ideal. But I don't want you to get in trouble at work, baby," he kissed your forehead.

"I know, I need to do my job," you rolled your eyes.

"That's my girl, love the enthusiasm," he laughed, and you slapped his arm lightly, a smile on your face. "Tell you what. When you come back, we can celebrate your birthday at home and have a nice time, and soon we'll go see your family. I'll book the flights," he offered.

Now, laying in your hotel bed, you had to admit he really was right. Sure, it's not like you were having fun on your work trip, but you saw how your boss treated your coworker who couldn't go, and you wouldn't really want to be in her place.

And the promise of a nice stay-in birthday with Chris was closer than ever.

You told Chris to come pick you up from the airport when you came back. Usually he was very punctual, but today he was a little late. Not that you minded, obviously, you just found it a bit odd, but hey – you weren't one to judge, never perfectly punctual yourself.

"Hey babe, what’s up?" you asked as you got into the car, kissing Chris' cheek.

He captured your lips in a sweet kiss, and you smiled into it.

"How was your flight?" he asked with a smile.

"You know, as good as a flight could be," you chuckled softly, taking in the start of the sunset outside the window as he drove you both home, in comfortable silence.

When you got home you got out of the car and Chris helped you carry your bags inside. Meaning, he insisted on taking everything while you half complained half laughed that you could also take something.

When you were inside, Chris put down the bags and took out his phone, typing for a second and put it back in his pocket.

"Okay, I know you've been gone for two weeks, and you're probably very tired, so you can take a shower and then go to sleep. I could take care of your bags," he said, wrapping his arms around you.

"Well, that's a very kind offer, but how about this – the bags can wait for tomorrow and we can take a shower… together," you smirked.

"I missed you," he laughed in your ear and lifted you up, carrying you upstairs.

"Good morning, birthday girl," Chris murmured as he pressed soft kisses to your neck and jaw.

"Good morning," you answered with a smile.

"So, I know we said nice day in," he said, "but I have a surprise for you, so get dressed. It's not far, I promise," he smiled and got up. That's when you noticed he was already dressed in jeans and a shirt.

"Did you get up before me?" you asked, till groggily rubbing your eyes.

"Not a lot," he answered. "Now come on, before the coffee gets cold," he smiled.

You got ready for the day and went downstairs with a grin, seeing Chris playing around with Dodger.

"Happy birthday! Dodger, say happy birthday to momma!"

Dodger barked and you both burst into laughter. "Thank you, bubba," you smiled and leaned down to pet him.

Once you both drank and ate, you asked Chris, "So, where is that surprise you got me out of bed for?"

"Let's go and I'll show you," he took your hand and led you out the front door, but instead of walking to your car, he led you around the house, to the small grove of trees behind your house.

"Where are we— oh!" you stopped mid-sentence upon noticing something amazingly unusual about the grove – on one of the lower trees, there was a pretty little treehouse, obviously new, with a ladder leading up to it.

"Surprise," Chris said softly and hugged you from behind, making you lean back into him. "I had it built when you were away," he explained. "Do you like it?"

"I love it!" you exclaimed and turned around to kiss him, wrapping your arms around his neck.

"We haven't gone inside yet," he smiled and gestured for you to go ahead and climb before him.

"What a gentleman," you teased with a smile. He raised his brow at you. "We both know you're just enjoying the view," you smirked, and he laughed.

"Guilty as charged," he slapped your butt playfully.

You both laughed and you climbed up, followed by Chris.

Inside, you found a cozy little setup – the treehouse was full of fuzzy blankets, a couple of bean bags, and the walls were decorated with fairy lights, which weren't in their full effect yet since it was like 11 am, but you could picture how at night, they would glimmer and give the house a magical aura.

You wandered into the middle of it, ducking down only slightly so you won't bump the ceiling. You turned around to thank Chris but the words died in your throat once you saw him on one knee, holding a small box in his hand.

"Surprise," he said softly with a smile. You gasped, your mouth agape but you couldn't form words to save your life. Chris took a deep breath and spoke up.

"When you were gone, I had to take the chance and get you this birthday gift, because I knew how much you'd like it, to have a small place out here that's yours, if you want it. And judging by the look on your face, I'd say I did a decent job," he chuckled, and you nodded with a smile, biting your lip. "It may be your birthday, but you're the best gift I could've ever gotten," he grinned, "and I want to hold onto you forever. When I envision my future, you're always in it. And maybe one day we'll have some little ones you could share this treehouse with." You were tearing up now, and you let out a wet chuckle. "I love you, more than words can say. Would you make me the happiest man in the universe and marry me?"

"Yes," you were near sobbing now, sinking onto your knees in front of him and crashing your lips on his. The kiss was electrifying, the feeling of his soft lips moving against yours making you soar and grounding you in the moment at once. That could be said about your entire relationship; making each other stronger and achieving what you wanted, the comforting shoulder to lean on, the occasional yelling match, the domestic moments, the passion, the fun and the less fun. All of it combined to create one beautiful love story, one that was yours and yours only, the rest of the world be screwed.

"I love you," you whispered, your foreheads still touching.

"I love you too," Chris whispered back, and then reached to open the box. He opened the lid, revealing an absolutely gorgeous ring, glimmering in the soft morning sun.

He slid the ring onto your finger, and you both spent a moment admiring it before breaking out of your reverie and turning to each other once more, matching beams on your faces.

"Best birthday ever!" you exclaimed and tackled a laughing Chris into a tight hug which he eagerly returned.

And honestly, it was only second best. The first best was when you, Chris, and your kids spent the whole day in "mommy's treehouse," playing board games and having pillow fights, even eating in it, which the kids weren't usually allowed to do. But you didn't know that yet.

3. favorite line/scene you wrote this year

I am just choosing 3 or it will be a very long post.

1. Remember Us - Aelin lifted the blanket and squeezed underneath after she and Thomas had removed their shoes. Rowan sat at her side and brought her close to him. The kids sat in front of Rowan in between his legs. Thomas passed one of the books to his dad but Aelin took it. She knew Rowan was still struggling with reading for prolonged time “now, is everyone cozy?” The scene in which Rowan get the treehouse ready for his family and then they spend the afternoon reading under the blankets. It's a simple scene but I just love it.

2.This one is from ALB and it's from a chapter that hasn't been published yet so it's a BIG preview. Aelin and Rowan are at Lysaedion wedding and...

“Happy fire-versary. It’s a year since the hangar caught fire.”

Her stare was puzzled as she grabbed the small box, and got even more curious when she saw the content.

“This,” he said pointing at the piece of metal in the box “it’s a piece of the original hangar.” She saw him blush “I know it’s not very romantic, I basically just gave you a piece of junk.”

Aelin surprised him and threw her arms around his neck “It’s perfect. It really is.”

1. What’s their go to pick up line/flirting tactic?

Jane....is not much of a flirter. She’s more likely to stab you, tbh. (Or throat punch you--although Wren would up the ante and suggest that she throat stab you instead--Wren, please...). Now, that does’t mean she doesn’t do it at all or that she’s completely immune to advances. Jane will see flirting as she sees anything else--a competition or challenge. If she’s being flirted with by someone she’s open to be being flirted with, she’s gonna play it off by acting...I don’t want to say super arrogant, but she definitely plays hard to get. Mostly to see how hard you’re willing to work for it--and yeah...she really makes you work for it. If she flirts back, that’s in the form of overly sarcastic and taunting comments. They can come off as snarky and arrogant, and honestly, it’s to see how you react to it. She’s....she’s a very “I’m gonna test you” kind of person. In her defense, she’s been hurt a lot, so...this is just how she is. She doesn’t give people the time of day most of the time, and I’m telling you right now that if she’s not into it, you will definitely fucking know because she will knock the fuck out of you without a second thought or hold a knife to your throat. 

2. Can they dance?

Secretly, yes. Will she? Fuck no. Don’t even fucking try. And honestly, not many people know...but a certain someone did some ballet in her time. You can definitely tell, though, if you have an eye for that sort of thing. She’s graceful and light on her feet, like, even though she wasn’t much of a hunter, she took quickly to the training Jacob provided because of it. She’ll never tell you, though. 

3. Underwear style?

Jane is pretty simple, she keeps it to normal cotton underwear in different styles--mainly bikini or boyshorts. She does have a few thongs--lace and cotton--but you didn’t hear that from me. That’s on the super down-low. 

4. Crayons, markers, colored pencils, or paint?

Ha! None of them. She’s not that kind of artist. If she had to pick--markers or spray paint. She’s gonna do some damage with it, like draw on people’s faces or spray paint stupid shit on people’s property (like the time Wren spray painted dicks on Hurk Sr’s car). Jane is more into photography than anything like that, though. She’d rather not, to be honest. 

5. What was their childhood stuffed animal of choice?

She didn’t really have one. There was a doll she had, but she grew out of it and kept ripping the heads off her Barbies because her parents kinda tried to force her in that girly role, and she was not having it. She preferred Legos and toy cameras. 

6. What’s their sleeping positions?

On her side with one hand under her pillow, right where gun is. 

7. Do they snore?

No. She’s a light sleeper, if she did, she’d constantly wake herself up, I’m sure. 

8. What do they act like when they’re drunk?

Already answered! 

9. Sweet, sour, salty, or savory?

Jane likes sour and hates sweets, they make her sick. She can tolerate some chocolate--like dark chocolate or brownies. She likes salty just fine, she’s pretty neutral about it. Savory is a fucking win with her. Jane does eat on the healthier side, but she loves savory foods. Especially when it’s Whitney’s cooking. 

10. Can they play an instrument? If so, which one(s)?

Randy tried to teach her how to play the harmonica once...not her cup of tea. So, no, she doesn’t. Wren does joke about her maybe trying to drums since she’s so damn violent--”you have good rhythm when you fight, it could translate. just pretend their the heads of your enemies, you’ll be fine.”

11. What would their favorite book be?

The Tale of Two Cities, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Frankenstein. 

12. What is their guilty pleasure?

Michael Hughes. She doesn’t really have one, because she doesn’t really feel guilty about anything she does. Jane will--on a rare occasion--join Wren and Randy in drunk karaoke. It’s super lowkey and she won’t do it in public. She does like listening or reading poetry, bird watching, and just sitting in nature and meditating. 

13. If they got a new pet, what would they name it?

Something funny and...dark or aggressive. Maybe something that would be a bit over the top just to shock people. 

14. Beach house, cozy snowy cabin, treehouse in a forest, or desert paradise?

Treehouse in a forest. She would love the seclusion and fuck, the nature shots she would get on a daily basis? Jane would be so damn happy. 

15. What would their favorite board game be?

Clue, Battleship, Risk, Chess, Monopoly, and Scrabble.

16. What do they smell like?

Blood, murder, gunpowder, pot on occasion, whiskey, vodka, pine, campfire smoke, citrus, spice, cinnamon, wildflowers, honeysuckle, leather, kerosene, melon and cucumber. 

17. What’s their favorite smell?

Pretty much everything listed above, especially blood and murder. Maple, cedar, honeysuckle, leather, cinnamon, melon and cucumber....food. 

18. If they were drunk, what would they get a tattoo of?

Jane already has Norse runes down her spine and a star between her thumb and pointer finger on her left hand (thanks, Wren)...hmmm...I could see her getting a cool camera tattoo on her wrist. Or some badass quote in Latin on her forearm (gee, I wonder which friend gave her that fucking idea). I could also see her getting a middle finger tattoo on the back of her neck. 

19. Describe their laugh.

20. Hoodies, knit sweaters, wool coats or just a blanket to stay warm?

Hoodies. Jane is a minimalist. She would rather just throw a hoodie on and say “fuck it”. She has other things to do, and chances are, it’s gonna be worn and something she’s had for years. 

21. Are they good with their hands? How do they deal with household-type maintenance?

She is. Jane is the kind of person that will go out of her way to learn how to do something so she doesn’t have to rely on other people. She’s very good with her hands and takes advantage of it. 

22. If they had a custom car horn, what would it be?

Fuck You by Lily Allen or just a recording of her saying “fuck off”. 

23. Favorite carnival attraction?

Dunking booth or a haunted house (if they have it). She’s also down for those spinning rides, the ones where you twist the wheel to go faster? That’s an opportunity for a competition, and she will gladly take it. Also dart games. 

24. Showers or baths?

Showers. They’re usually pretty quick unless she’s had a long day or sore. She works out a lot and does some heavy lifting for the Project...girl deserves a break, okay? 

25. What’s their ideal day like?

Being left the fuck alone, hiking through the woods with her camera, and just taking pictures. That’s it. She just wants peaceful time alone to enjoy her favorite hobby.

1. What’s their go to pick up line/flirting tactic?

Oh… Sean used to be sooo smooth in his younger days…dropping pick-up lines left and right but honestly as he got older he realized that showing real genuine interest was more important that having the cleaver pick-up line. He really just tries to be decent. Show the person he cares by his actions not his words. Like helping Faith/Rachel how to play guitar…. Which is something he does in part to be able to spend more time with her...which is his way of flirting lol.

2. Can they dance?

Yes, yes he can… very well. He keeps this talent a closely guarded secret only exposing it to John… his closest friend… at John and MJ’s wedding when he decides to dance with his sister like they did when they were kids.

3. Underwear style?

Boxers… simple man that he is.

Crayons, they were a very coveted item in the MacKenna household growing up so I would say Crayons.

He had a dark brown bear he named Floppy that he still keeps on his bed, though he will claim it’s there for decorative purposes only. Sean can’t bare the thought of getting rid of his oldest companion.

On his stomach, usually with the pillow over his head rather than his head on his pillow. No blanket, just a sheet as he always gets too hot when he sleeps. 

7.Do they snore?

Not badly, but a little. 

8.What do they act like when drunk?

Sean is one of 2 ways when he is drunk… which really depends on what he is drinking rather than how much. If it’s beer, wine, clear alcohol… Sean is a happy funtime guy. You throw in like Whiskey… Rum… any of the darker alcohol you are asking for a fight to happen. So sean tends to stick to Beer and be the life of the party rather than joining his brothers in the wrecking crew. 

9.Sweet, sour, salty, or savory?

Sour… he is a big sour candy guy.

10.Can they play an instrument? If so, which one(s)?

He can play guitar and also sing. 

11. What would their favorite book be?

He has no shame in this, but the Hobbit. He read it as a kid and Sean is not a massive reader, but the Hobbit is the one book he has read more than once and he reads it to Lily (MJ and John’s oldest)  when she is little. 

12.  What is their guilty pleasure?

Drinking, like it’s a massive no-no in eden’s gate but Sean never stops (maybe a bit of on alcoholic not trying to judge but this may be a little fact. He can’t be perfect...also you may see this as common theme among the MacKennas the love their substances) also he is a smoker… of both cigarettes and O.o other things that are also a leafy plant… again I reiterate he needed flaws….no one is perfect.

13. If they got a new pet, what would they name it?

He does have a dog, he ends up with a yellow lab dog named “Charlie” that he adopts when he hates being alone in his house by himself. Charlie is a girl btw.

Beachouse, he used to have one…. But the things you give you to follow your best friend/brother in law to start a cult am I right?

He smells warm, like spicy warm… I picture him using like warmer scented things. A little like a camp fire, cuz of how much he can smoke. Depending on time of day maybe a little beer… 

17. What’s their favorite smell?

Cinnamon Rolls Baking in the oven… It was a Saturday tradition that their mom would bake them on her one day off work and it was the one time in the week where everyone got along/behaved for more than 10 minutes. 

18. If they were drunk, what would they get a tattoo of?

UH this happens… and John tattoos a rubber duckie on his ass… because Sean tells him it “has to be done… God told me…” mocking Joseph with his Sister. John said he was doing it out of spite… so Sean refers to it as the “Spite Duckie” if it ever comes up. No regrets though, none. 

19. Describe their laugh.

Joyous, a touch mischievous and bright. When he laughs, it’s hard not to join him.

Hoodies, pretty much that’s a standard part of his wardrobe.

He isn’t that bad, he can fix basic things. Knows a bit about cars, but he is the least handy of the MacKenna kids...even his sister knows more practical skills.

Never Gonna Give You Up - the Rick Roll song… because he would do it for the memes… that’s just who Sean is.

Truthfully… Funnel Cake.

Sleeping, Pizza… maybe spending some time with the nieces or his sister… He sees John enough but I suppose John is allowed to join in. Maybe take a drive out to see Faith, pretend to be helpful around her trying to flirt awkwardly. More pizza… beer… maybe meeting up with the brother to play cards… probably not… just drinking beer with the dog at home watching bad 80’s movies.

Squishmallow bios

Danny lion- A lion who is very timid. However, he has moments of bravery that surprise everyone, even himself. Danny loves to eat meatloaf. He is very sentimental and is a bit of a crybaby, often writing poetry and is moved by works of beauty. Danny dreams of being on a rescue team who saves people from the dangers in Whimsica, however he feels he is too cowardly. But the one time he saved Acorn from a fire, everyone encouraged him. Birthday is March 28.

Simon red panda- Simon is a cheerful red panda who likes to play 4-footed soccer, a special kind of soccer animals play. He lives in a treehouse in Speckle town. Simon used to be very closed-off and lonely after his mother died. But through making friends and being part of the team, he regained a love of life. Simon treasures the simple things in life such as friendship, eating ice cream, having good dreams, and scoring a goal. He is also known for giving good advice to his friends. He can be clumsy but he doesn’t let it stop him. Birthday is April 22.

Song the panda- Song is a shy panda, but she loves to compose music. Song likes to eat plum dumplings and drink tea. Her favorite pastime is taking baths and singing in the tub. Song is shy, but the music she composes is mainly party music. She was once a DJ at a club for animals and was a hit. Birthday is May 3.

Chilly penguin- Chilly may be a penguin from the Antarctic, but their special ability is that they can breathe fire! Surprise! Their full name is actually Chilly Pepper. Sometimes Chilly feels like an outcast or a misfit for their power. They love cold weather, and their favorite food is sashimi, which is uncooked fish. But their power luckily comes in handy for defeating the abominable snow golems that spawn near their family’s home! Chilly is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns. Birthday is July 2.

Benny raccoon- Benny may live in a dumpster behind an Italian restaurant, but it’s the cleanest dumpster you will ever see. Everything is organized and sanitized. It’s so neat, that it can be described as classy! Benny is a connoisseur of delicacies and his favorite food is Parmesan cheese. Many people think he would be stuck-up, but Benny is actually goofy and friendly. He is a big eater and is often found snacking away on Parmesan mac and cheese while watching a soap opera or reading a mystery novel. Benny loves dramatic stories as well. Birthday is June 4.

Star pastel unicorn- Star lives in a city up in the clouds. She likes to eat colorful star-shaped breakfast cereal that is mostly marshmallows and gummies. She is friends with Moemi Kise.

Ringo magenta unicorn- Ringo lives in an enchanted forest with the tastiest apples in all of Whimsica. The apples come in all sorts of beautiful and rare colors. Ringo is friends with Haruko Asada.

Acorn squirrel- A somewhat grouchy squirrel who doesn’t like to be chipper like other squirrels. Acorn lives in a hole in a big shady oak tree in the Violet Ivy University Campus and goes to the library a lot. Their favorite kinds of books are science fiction space odysseys and cookbooks. They aren’t a student at the university, but can be found around the campus. Acorn likes to cook all sorts of forest recipes and often has a nice aroma coming from their home. Acorn isn’t very social, and is uncomfortable socializing with those they don’t know well. But they are interesting and knowledgeable once you get to know them. Acorn is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns. Birthday is February 5.

Delia fawn- Delia is a bit of a wild child, unlike the other gentle deer. She loves to explore and rough-play with animals a lot bigger than her. Delia is always getting into trouble, thinking of wild schemes and ideas, and then going through with them. Delia’s dream is to be a runner in the animal olympics. Birthday is February 24

Rainy teal owl- Rainy is Cozy’s little sister. Birthday is April 5

Ferris pegasus- Ferris’ old home was in the stratosphere, but he moved down to the atmosphere because there weren’t a lot of friends in the stratosphere and he got lonely. He can eat clouds. Ferris is friends with Setsuna Usui. His birthday is January 30

Clyde dragon- Clyde is a cool guy who likes memes and video games. However, he is very shy. Loves pizza and Mountain Dew soda. Rumor has it that he is neon green because he drinks so much Mountain Dew. Clyde also loves gardening and has his own garden with many rare plants. Clyde lives in a small caldera, which is a crater left after a volcano eruption. There are a lot of green plants blooming in his home, and there is a pond in the center. Clyde is friends with Rie Kubota. Birthday is March 20

Kit cat- A cuddly and cozy cat. Kit loves to relax and is very friendly. She always has dreams about herself going on different wacky adventures. Since Kit is disabled and has mobility issues, being able to dream is important to her. Kit has a special power where if someone else is sleeping at the same time as her, she can appear inside of their dream, and share the dreams she has with all her friends. At night, Kit and her friends go on magical adventures inside of their dreams. Kit’s owner is Margot, and she is also friends with Rainy the owl. Her birthday is November 1

Boris koala- Boris is a deaf koala who uses sign language to communicate. He loves to paint pictures. His birthday is October 2

Slumber owl- A genius yet scatterbrained owl. Slumber may quote famous geniuses a lot, but sometimes at the wrong time. Slumber invents very elaborate knick-knacks, but most of them have an obscure reason to use that rarely occurs. His birthday is October 19.

Cozy owl- Slumber’s pal. A bit of a couch potato. However, he can play guitar. His birthday is September 27. 

Lullaby owl- Lullaby runs a daycare service. She sings soothing lullabies, but she is also a death metal singer as well. Birthday is November 6.

3. Where do you write best?

Definitely either my bedroom in bed, or in my recliner downstairs in the basement. (It’s this old green thing, I love it). I write the best when I’m comfortable and cozy, I firmly believe in ‘writes best within ones perfect element, or as close to that element as one can get’.

There was a series by various authors that was basically American Girl, but Canadian. Same concept of a young girl telling a story about her life, in some sort of time period within history. It’s called Dear Canada.

Harry Potter 

Scooby Doo books were a great favourite too.

I read a LOT as a child, this only covers a scarce amount. But they’re among some that I remember the most strongly, and fondly.

My Astral Work

For this week’s first @2019grimoirecchallenge prompt:

I don’t usually talk much about this as it’s such a personal part of my path, and I got myself into some really toxic patterns early on in my path related to it. But, I’ve been working on reclaiming and balancing parts of my practice that I still care deeply about, so here goes! Keep in mind this all very UPG.

Astral work, generally, refers to experiences that take place when one is able to project their spiritual selves / consciousness outside of their physical body. Some people use this to travel about our own plane of existence, some travel to other places. It can be used to do energetic work, speak with gods and guides, gain information, etc. etc. etc. 

I personally, tend to go... elsewhere. I’ve not come to a definitive term for the particular place that I go to, but I have taken the time to map out what I know of it here:

When I first began my practice, I thought it was the faery realm, as much of what I encountered there seemed to be, well, fae. Much of what you see on the map was found in the earlier parts of my practice: I did a lot of escaping to that place to avoid things that bothered me in the waking world. Exploring was what led to the greater part of this map. I add things to it when I come across something new; this particular picture is actually a little bit less updated than the current one I keep in my book, let’s get a better pic, shall we?

Lately, my focus is on that grove on the bottom right corner of the map, and the other things along the eastern coast there. This is where the Wylde Hunt is usually gathered, and where I typically go to speak with my hunter deity, or my guides and friends I’ve made through my work with the Hunters. At the center of this grove, there’s an absolutely MASSIVE tree. There’s a treehouse atop it, which is sort of cozy, and I spend time there sometimes. It’s sort of “home base” if you will. The big door in the trunk of the tree is only sometimes unlocked. I’ve been in there only a handful of times, and my various deities and guides were all sat there in a round hall. It felt a little like a council.

Above the Hunter’s Grove, there’s also the smaller, Sacred Grove that I visited often in my OBOD studies. This is also my entry and exit point, which I’ll discuss in my methods below:

My Method:

I tend to do most of my astral work either in the middle of the afternoon while I have time to myself, or as I’ve turned in to go to bed for the evening. These are times where I know I will be relaxed and undisturbed.

1) Get comfy! You don’t want to be somewhere where you’ll start cramping up or limbs will fall asleep. Be seated or laying somewhere comfortable and where, as I said before, you’ll not be disturbed.

2) Relax. I like to do that exercise where you start at your toes and consciously tense and the relax your body bit by bit, and then do a counted breathing exercise- like in for a steady count of three, hold three, out three, etc. Doing this lets me let go of all the mundane clutter that’s going on in my head.

3) Entry/Exit Point: The next step for me, is to imagine that instead of sitting in a chair, or on my bed, or whatever, that I am in my sacred grove. I focus my consciousness on that place in my inner astral map, and let myself become aware of a bed of fallen pine needles instead of a cotton comforter; the smell of the pine and cedar; a cool breeze, steady earth beneath me. I take a deep breath, and move from my grove to wherever it is I intend to go. I ALSO make sure that when I’m ready to leave that I return to that place. This is mostly to make sure that I am returning 100% to my normal waking consciousness in a steady, natural way. I have only been accidentally pulled back to everyday life mid-travel a handful of times, and it gives me a massive migraine. Not fun.

4) At this point, you’re in the astral plane(s) wherever you had intended to go. The typical precautions should be applied to faeries and spirits you meet there: don’t make deals without VERY careful deliberation and making sure you’ve covered all your bases; don’t eat/drink there; it may be prudent not to give your name to certain beings; etc. Be respectful of the things you encounter. Leave if you feel you aren’t supposed to be somewhere. It’s all very common sense stuff.

5) As mentioned before, go back to your entry point when you’re ready to leave. It can be a grove, a door that you enter, whatever. Just make sure you do this, or you might end up sort of foggy or with a big ol’ headache. Symptoms of this vary by person.

6) Once you’re back in normal consciousness, I recommend at the bare minimum getting yourself something to drink. Food is best for grounding you back in the waking world though, and if not headed to bed, will opt for a small snack too. I also recommend recording your experiences. I write mine in my journal.
