because they've been consuming my brain!! (while i slowly lose the canon characterizations of a3 characters, and try to understand enstars characters)

As stated in this post, i LOVE the idea that Sakuya is the adopted little brother to Rei and Ritsu. (in the reblogs of the post, @/nobleartsy made super cute art of the idea, and @/otome-crow gave some really good ideas adding onto the post, so please check both of their blogs out!!) kinda just rewording some of otome-crow's post, Sakuya has this whole goth outfit to fit in with his brothers :)) Sakuya tries his best to attend lives of UNDEAD and Knights, but will just have to occasionally settle for watching official recordings of their shows. In turn, Rei and Ritsu also try their best to watch the Spring Troupe's shows! They just want to support one another <3

Banri and Tsuzuru are both fans of UNDEAD (even before they met Rei in person! A couple more Mankai members became fans of UNDEAD and Knights after meeting them in person). They both were stoked to meet Rei, and the latter also gave Banri and Tsuzuru some signed merch!

(Genuinely decided to make Tsuzuru an UNDEAD fan bc i think the image of a sleep deprived Tsuzuru trying to work on a script while blasting UNDEAD's music with his headphones, but is still loud enough for people in the room to hear is hilarious)

One time, Ritsu visited the company and fell asleep on top of Hisoka on the couch. This created an impromptu cuddle pile

Yuki is a big fan of Shu's clothing work, despite it being a bit more underground compared to other Japanese fashion designers. This led him to discover the idol group Valkyrie. Some of their songs are now in Yuki's playlist that plays while he and Taichi sew

(I also think Yuki would have great time with Kuro, letting him help with costumes (: )

Chiaki and Sakyo know each other... somehow. Their relationship is unknown, and they never really elaborate what it is when people ask. On the very rare occasion they see each other on the street, they greet each other but talk with such thinly veiled animosity toward each other; and yet, they have each other's numbers in their phones. Make of that what you will (guess a hero and an ex-yakuza don't mix well together)

Sakyo and Keito went to the same middle school and were best friends. They were really close and mainly bonding with each other over manga. They lost touch when they went to different high schools, so neither one of them knows that one is an actor and the other is an idol

Tsumugi Tsukioka and Tsumugi Aoba are acquaintances! They met because they both frequently go to the same cafe; one day, they just started having friendly small talk, and now they meet kinda monthly? Almost as if they're on a schedule lol They just have nice small talk with one another at the cafe and rant to each other about their lives (without getting into too much personal details), offer each other advice, tell stories from their lives, etc! It's come up in conversation that Tsukioka is an actor, but Aoba never mentioned that he's an idol yet

Kumon is a big fan of RYUSEITAI and would love to go to one of their live shows one day! He doesnt have a favorite member (his favorite is a tie between RYUSEI Red and RYUSEI Yellow)

(Listen, I could probably make another entire headcanons list about the characters favorite idol groups, if they have any lmao)

Tenma met Izumi Sena once, while he was abroad. The actor had no idea who the other guy was, and vice versa (Izumi gave him directions)

I am convinced Wataru would love Homare's poetry; he's been a fan, and ever since Wataru heard Homare joined an acting troupe, he's been negotiating with members of Dramatica to go see a winter troupe play!

🦁 Taichi Fan form!! So difficult so beautiful. My brother joined the kung fu class again which made me so happy. I got to teach him the second hand form southern style, that I could barely remember myself.

OKAY, for you, and because it requires very little prompting to get me to do this. 

So, if you crossover digimon and sailor moon you have to essentially admit that they know about the existence of one another. because a. digimon do some weird shit in the world sometimes. and b. the senshi are pop culture figures even in their own universe. sailor v has a game and an ova in universe. there’s sailor moon merch. you can fish tuxedo mask dolls out of crane games. also they live in the same city. they both live in tokyo.

I think the inner senshi should be of age with yamato, taichi, and sora. Which means that come adventure 01 they’d have been way too young to really do anything about myotismon’s attacking tokyo. which is lucky for him and the plot bc like rei probably could have exorcised that bitch and like problem solved. 

by 02 most of what’s happening is either out of japan, or in the digital world, plus the girls are dealing with a ton of shit from the time they’re 14-16 so there’s really no time to get involved with chosen kid stuff. plus there are legitmately times they aren’t even on planet so you can say some of the stuff where they should have been concerned about giant monsters they were off like fighting metalia or in the future. 

by tri though, by tri they’ve finished their battle with galaxia a year earlier, and when ordinemon shows up, a. they’re for sure around, and b. that is not something they can just ignore. so I think that’s exactly the perfect time to meet. 

i also think that it would be cool if sailor powers and crests could work together /enhance one another. i think i’m really on to something there.

Kizuna day 20: Fav non 12 character(s)

As you all know Meiko is my number one favorite character. She may be a chosen child, but she’s not the 12 right? :P So she counts for this post! Two other characters I wanted shine light on are Daigo and Maki from tri.

People give Digimon tri. a lot of crap. Marketing and merchandise wise, it’s the best thing to happen to the franchise. We got a crap ton of Merch following Kizuna, speaking of which, we are getting movie thanks to tri.. As well as a reboot series that opens the door to many new things!

But back to Maki and Daigo and why I love them.

I remember theorizing at the start of tri. that Daigo was one of the original 5 children. Yes, it was something that people commonly guessed at the start of every new DIgimon series. But this time I felt there was a little big more evidence. Daigo’s whole name translates to “West Island Big Five”. It seemed pretty damning that his name had the ta/da in it, west island like the holy beasts, and this was more silly. But his goofy attitude gave off a goggle head feel. Pink crocs, star shirt, and long lab coat. Kind of hard to take seriously, yeah? Me with a group of fans threw ideas that maybe Maki was too. They both were in a relationship and seemed the right age. But why Maki would be a chosen and be doing bad things stumped us. Ooooh we were in for a surprise. I remember when it was confirmed that these two were the OG 5. I was ecstatic.

But sadly, my heart would break years later, and still be broken to this day.

As I said in my “favorite adventure villain”, Maki is a perfect villain to me because  she wasn’t evil because of some form of darkness. The darkness was her own formed out of desperation and selfishness that eventually took her life.

Daigo was a great and fun character to watch. He’s goofy and immature and I loved it. He cried donuts and I loved so much that every sweet kind Pokemon I get in the games I name Daigo. I have a gmax alcremie named Daigo. DId the same for Swirlix back in X/Y.

His heroic sacrifice still hits hard. He badly wanted to do anything and everything to save Maki. But in the end he realized he couldn’t save her, so instead saved Taichi and Daisuke’s group for hope of a better future.

I headcanon a lot of these two being in a Universe where these bad things didn’t happen. Maki loses her partner, but is able to cope. She and Daigo are able to move on. So Meiko and Meicoomon aren’t targeted, and live happily.

But point of tri., that being an adult means you don’t always get what you want and things don’t turn out the way you want.

Now on to my 5 page essay of why I love Meiko .You all knew it was coming!

It’s been almost 6 years since tri. started and we heard about Meiko. I remember falling in love with her because she was this mysterious girl under a bridge. The character aspect intrigued me. She was partnered with a fox(or so i thought) Digimon, which was even more perfect.

Then September before tri. started, we learn her name is Meiko Mochizuki. She seemed cute and I was excited to see more of her in the movie.

and for parts 1 and 2, she was adorable. I loved her shy and overly polite personality. Her love of the food in the onsen and the adventure of looking for Meicoomon and Piyomon was hilarious. Meiko insisting she couldn’t thing in the boys side is still my favorite part.

Then we have the school festival, which looking back really showed Meiko making an effort to come out of her shell. She’s obviously more modest, but she wanted to make Mimi happy and feel happy as well and that was really awesome. The antics and dancing in the festival are of course my favorite.

It was a really funny segment, especially after the digimon sneak in and enter the costume contest. Meiko awarding Meicoomon despite the DIgimon not supposed to be there.

After Determination we see  a different side. THere were hints dropped that Meiko knew more than we thought at the time. I always found it odd Meiko’s expression more of “That form again!” and not utterly terrified when Meicoomon freaked and killed Leomon.

Meiko felt horrified that her partner lost control like that and killed a friend. The chosen around her trying to tell it’s OK, despite it being far from OK.

Meiko admitted in Confession she knew of Meicoomon’s form, but didn’t think it could get this out of hand. She felt hopeless after the battle with Meicrackmon. Because she had realized her voice no longer reached Mei-chan.

Loss was a really character for Meiko. Coming to get Meicoomon and taking the blame on herself. COmforting her partner and telling her it’d be OK because she’d already been beaten up. So she would keep going. When Dark Gennai attacks, I feel like this also shows Meicoomon’s feelings.

In part 5 Meiko can feel Meicoomon’s fear. This part is definitely one of Meiko’s most defining moments in my opinion.

Making the decision to kill your own partner has been shown as an impossible decision to make. Not just from COnfession with Takeru and Patamon, But in hurricane touchdown, Daisuke breaks down crying saying he could never kill Vmon even if he had to. That it was just too awful to think about.

SO when Meiko made the choice that Meicoomon had to be killed, it was obvious that it took a lot of courage for her to make. Bonds weren’t always going to save a Digimon’s partnership. Meiko knew Meicoomon was suffering and vice versa. The reboot couldn’t save her, so there was no option left. They were only both suffering at this point.

My favorite moment of Meiko in “our future” is when she broke out of Yamato’s grasp in the midpoint of the movie. It was really great to see her not letting anyone else stop her or save her.

I’ll admit it was a dumb move. But after seeing her being stopped when she could have prevented things from getting out of hand in the first place, it was nice to see her take charge.

Speaking of taking charge, Taichi also had to make some really judgements in tri.. They are commonly compared for this series.

One thing I hope to become canon someday, and maybe it’s easy to do because Taichi has the Adventure goggles, but not the tri. ones.

I hope Meiko has the tri. goggles. Not just as a keepsake or watching for distortions. But because I want her to be a leader. I want to see her lead her own group and take charge.

Take up her dad’s studies and Maki’s too and find a way to prevent what Meicoomon from happening ever again.

I want her to stop Mysterious Man. Who enabled Maki’s desperation to see her partner again, Meicoomon to be targeted, and leading to their deaths. I want to see her getting justice for them. Even though Maki deceived her for so long.

And that's a wrap on Digimon Con 2024!

It lived up to it's past versions where it was used as a platform to discuss various information already teased beforehand, with some exciting news for Digimon TCG and other parts of the franchise that don't get to shine in DigiFes due to the latter being an animation focused event.

The hosts mentioned several times, that look forward to the summer event, which means that we can expect new stuff to come out of DigiFes 2024.

I also liked how they didn't avoid the question about a new Digimon Game and just gave a vague answer like it's under development, at least we know something is in the works lol.

Agumon Real Time Talk was the highlight for me, Sakamoto san earnestly tried to connect with all Digimon fans around the world and that was really fun to watch.

The 25th Anniversary Digivice was also a really cool announcement. It's not just a prop anymore but actually functional with a lot of fun additions, the voice acting, anime music and scenes are particularly additions that I liked. Taichi and Yamato versions were expected, but I like how Piyomon's VA immediately shouted about where is the Sora Version, she's keeping it real for the rest of us who do like the other kids too!

I wish they'd shared more details about the Manga platform and Novel competition, I feel like that part was sort of glazed over without much details but just a "hey this is happening", okay cool but what exactly will it entail? Considering that they use this event to share the information, this announcement felt more like a tweet which will be elaborated later on.

The Card Game segment was the most exciting I feel, though I'm not well versed in TCG at all. New Digimon being revealed + live reading chapter 00 of Digimon Liberator was pretty cool. They also shared that Liberator will have a web comic and a novel, each will feature different protagonists and stories, the hosts contemplated amongst themselves whether the two different protagonists would get a chance to meet each other...?

I also liked them showing off all the China exclusive products at the end, always good to end the show with more fomo for foreign fans lmao.

As an Adventure only fan, I guess I have to look forward to DigiFes and the 25th Anniversary Exhibition planned for summer for any real news, for now all the new merch and collabs will suffice.

Thank you for bearing with my random posts today! It was fun to wake up and scream Digimon with others after a very long time.

Freebie! Talk about something else not covered

Heeee-eey, we did it!! (minus the fact that I was zero for three on Fridays, but still). Tons of thanks to @takerusfedora and @gossipchii​ for putting it together, and everyone else for their fantastic and insightful answers, all of which I enjoyed reading! The fact that we all have so much to talk about really goes to show why this fandom is still going after 20 years. I guess if I’m going to talk about something today, it’s some of the random ideas for projects I’ve had over the years.

Most of these have fallen by the wayside because of the time, energy, and sometimes $$ that would be involved in producing them. But they’re still things I think about every once in a while-- and in some cases, the recent waves of merch actually made some of these far-out-there ideas a reality, which is incredible!!

Crest-themed jewelry. I took some jewelry-making classes in high school, and if I ever went back to it, I would totally be making some bespoke digimon pendants or charms. But amazingly enough, both Tri AND Kizuna made Digimon jewelry exist! Not that I seriously considered dropping a small fortune to own one, but cool nonetheless!!!

Or I could just run to the bead store. Anyway, there are options, and I should exercise them one of these days!!

Adventure-themed menu. This was before I knew pop-up cafes were a thing in Japan, and definitely before there were Tri cafes! So this one got fulfilled in spades. But they don’t include really expensive things like steak and starfruit, which would be my #1 must-get for a Taichi entree and a Takeru dessert, respectively. Did you know I made crest pancakes one time with color-appropriate toppings? I did!

Digimon Tea Blends. At one point, someone had actually done this (with really cute art too!), but it seems to have been taken down. It may be time for a second attempt... too bad I don’t know anything about making tea DX

Making My Own Digimon Doujinshi. I mean OBVIOUSLY that’s the dream. It would help if I actually sat down to draw shorter comics periodically, so I can’t see this realistically happening at this point ^^; I DID have an idea for a story that primarily involved Shakespeare references and Daisuke being overdramatic and thinking his sister had bewitched Taichi and Yamato to fall in love with her a la A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which I ended up drawing a LOT of concept art for back in 2011/2012. I was CONVINCED that it would make a much better comic than a fanfic, but clearly that has been stalled for years. I still kind of like the idea though. Maybe I’ll try to dig up some of my old sketches. “Alas, poor Ken-chan... I knew him, V-mon.” “Uh, Daisuke... I’m right here.” -_-;

Chosen Child Tarot cards. Once upon a time, I saw a Harry Potter-themed Major Arcana deck that was basically a collaborative fanart project, with each artist contributing a card. I always thought that would be so cool to do with Digimon! There would have to be some decisions made beforehand (like which character for which card?), but that would be part of the fun. I definitely had some thoughts and strong candidates in mind for an all-seasons deck when we only had 5 seasons, but an all-Adventure deck would be great too!

Love Letter reskin. Love Letter is a quick and easy elimination-style card game that is only played with 15 cards. The goal is to be the last one standing so you can win the favor of the princess, and there have been TONS of fan-created decks based around specific fandoms. Again, some interesting discussions to be had about which character is which card, but 8 roles + 8 original Chosen seems like you’ve got yourself a game. I was actually thinking of doing a variant based on the early Myotismon episodes, with Sora being the top card (Crest of Love Letter?). The variant would be that if the player holding the Myotismon card is the last one standing, actually nobody wins (also note that this would NOT be for sale or even general online distribution. But maybe as a one-time giveaway or a couple of packs handed out at cons? If the game sounds interesting, I really encourage you to go buy the original, it’s very fun and easy to play a couple of rounds in single sitting!).
