Darcy and Riven – their story and why I ship them

In January 2023 I found my way back into the Winx fandom - more precisely, I created this Tumblr on January 28th, 2023 and since then I have been constantly passionate about this show from my childhood. Most of all, of course, for our three favorite witches. Accordingly, this year I have given a lot of thought and HCs to the Trix and their relationships. Today is the day that I'm going to write down all of these HCs and thoughts I have and tag them properly so that they're easier to find in my jumble of posts, reblogs and crazy fangirling. Well, have fun!

I got my first anon ask about Driven headcanons (hcs most of the time now) in march and therefore tried to order my thoughts on this topic as well. It actually became something of a definition of their relationship and how I see them in the show: This is how my bullet journal looks:

Riven is pretty badass. That's why Rivusa doesn't make much sense because ego-wise he would have gone after best-girl-Bloom. Or Princess Stella, but more Bloom, simply because Brandon (Sky) obviously found Bloom interesting.

Then there is Darcy. Not only is she the complete opposite of the loud, glittering fairy gang, but she also forms a stark contrast to Riven. She is powerful, yes, but above all she is calm, goal-oriented and come on in 1x8 we see how cute she is. Of course, Riven likes her power-talk in 1x9 but he surely is keen on her because she is a totally different type of girl than Musa or Stella.

Oh, and an important thing that just came to my mind while supervising what I wrote and putting it into a post: DARCY DID NOT MIND-CONTROL HIM IN CANON!

Her glowing eyes meant that she formed the connection with Riven, so that he could contact her mentally later on in the show!

It's fkn 4kids who came up with the mind control because they tend to downplay everything for all American kids' sake. - Ok back to the post:

In terms of type, if comparted to the fairies, Darcy is mostly like Flora, but in contrast to the nature fairy, she has a much more self-confident demeanor. She is also the first to respond to Riven as a person and his needs (power, being recognized). Then of course there is the matter of rescue. Firstly: Thanks for saving my life and secondly: The woman can ride this flying motorcycle like a guy. Where can you find something like that? And unlike the Winx, who are constantly in trouble, Darcy (and her sisters) is beyond competent (in Season 1 after all, we know how the writing goes down, *sigh*). So, we have Darcy: a beautiful, competent badass BB who just saved his life and looks like an angel that fell from heaven - all in the specialist uniform too - sexyyy. So, it's an extremely attractive girl who also knows guy things and cares about him and really sees and perceives him as a person. She's not a self-centered good-time girl who makes him clean, so she doesn't have to endure her punishment alone (looking at you, Winx....)

But who exactly is Darcy? (she's my girl, my bb, my queen) Out of the Trix, she is probably the one who is least behind the world domination plans. Of course, she is still a member of the Trix - and of course not less power-hungry than her sisters. But she would be the one most likely to give up everything to live a quiet but fulfilling life with the person she loves. Isn't she? She is definitely the first to panic and to make mistakes as a result. We remember episode 1x5, where she immediately panicked when everything didn't work out as planned. She thought she would find Stella's ring in no time, that wasn't the case. Instead of keeping a cool head like Icy would have, she freaks out and starts attacking Bloom. Is it fear because she is running out of time and doesn't know what to do if her disguise is exposed? In any case, Darcy would have been expected to wear a more confident disguise. But in the end, she's the one most likely to panic and this episode shows that perfectly. Maybe that's also the reason why she has clever ideas, but often doesn't think them through. In episode 2x10 she tries to get Icy to put the feather in the scales, fearing that she might have made a mistake and get wiped just like Stormy, who had previously hit the scales with brute force. Icy states very correctly: You’re a backstabbing coward, Darcy. And I love you for that. And with that she the nail right on the head. Darcy is certainly the first of the Trix to get nervous. She certainly has a tendency to overthink, whereas Riven strikes first and thinks later (at best).

Mind control is her specialty. She knows how to get into the minds of her victims to confuse and weaken them. At the same time, she also knows how uncertain and dangerous feelings can be. When it comes to having deep feelings for someone else, she is more likely to be the one who is insecure and cautious. Precisely because feelings are so uncertain, she probably tries to make decisions with her head rather than with her guts.

Their love story is iconic and cute. Basically, we have good girl and bad boy, but the good girl is one of the bad guys and the bad boy is ultimately one of the good guys. They haven't really fought against each other yet. Riven only knows that Darcy is one of the most powerful witches in Cloud Tower and that she and her sisters hate the Winx. Since Riven is skeptical of the Winx himself and has no deeper connection to them, he has little to do with this antipathy from both sides and perhaps only hears about it in passing from Brandon or Sky. So in 1x7 he doesn't pay much attention to the Trix. The fact that he turns on the light and exposes the Trix is once again Riven being Riven. He wants to be the cool dude and doesn't really care about the situation. He simply has no interest in the Winx's affairs and is only pissed when he becomes personally involved with Musa being thrown into his arms by the minotaur. Maybe that’s where his inner hero speaks? But first and foremost, he wants to praise himself. The first time he really notices Darcy is in 1x8, where she represents to him the complete opposite of the fairies, one of which had just shown him up (Bloom).

Darcy, on the other hand, is already interested in Riven in 1x7 and hides the whole thing behind the talk about the Prince of Darkness (seriously, WHO is the Prince of Darkness? Why is that never clarified?). One episode later, she's extremely worried that something might happen to Riven with Icy's, admittedly delicate, plan. bb obviously already has a crush on him. And no one can claim that Icy doesn't know this and is actively using it for her plan. I think that Darcy's feelings didn't matter to her at all, thinking she'd get over it sooner or later. But the fact is, even Icy sees the spark fly between them.

So you could say it was love at first sight for both of them. It is also important for Riven that after all the disappointments and constant criticism he was exposed to at Red Fountain, someone finally recognizes him and his talents. While the Winx, especially Stella, just complained about him, Darcy supported what he was. Partly because she can take advantage of his ambitions, of course, and partly because she simply likes him. I think there are some things Darcy does simply for herself and not because it's part of the plan to rule the Magic Dimension.

From Riven's point of view, what probably also speaks for Darcy is her maturity. She's not a little fairy to save. The opposite is the case. She is probably more experienced in other things too - but that always depends on the respective HC. Darcy can be a bad bitch and cute bb - both are accurate. For me though, she gives more bb vibes than bitch vibes. However, she appears much more mature and confident than the fairies. Speaking of bb (she's one, look at her!) -

she's the type most likely to develop romantic feelings. Icy is too calculating and Stormy is just there for the passion (if you get what I mean). In 2x2 we have this scene "*sigh* To be young and in love...".

She's also the one of the Trix most likely to feel something resembling remorse, if only for her time with Riven. On the other hand, in season 2 we have Riven, who immediately sees through Darcy's attacks - because he knows them. Very well. There is probably still a connection between the two. There could have been more hints about their relationship besides “cute” and “not cute”. There could have been one or two longing looks. I FELL ROBBED.

That’s basically how I interpret their story and why I ship them. I’ll come up with some headcanons these days as well. Stay tuned :3

I didn't expect so many people to like my Winx redesigns, so here's Trix!

This time I'll be sharing more headcanon stuff:

Icy:

≈17 y.o.I don't like her canon character because... she's just evil because she has to be, nothing interesting. So in my headcanons, she's a cross between Musashi/Jessie from Pokemon and the Queen from Deltarune. And, I'm shipping her with Bloom because "enemies to lovers" is my everything. I hardly changed the design. She is perfect 😶.Let's to next one.

Darcy

≈19y.o. (Eldest of the group) When I was a kid I thought Darcy and Stella were sisters(idk why). AND THIS IS JUST A GORGEOUS HEADCANNON NOW! Like: Darcy abdicated the throne to study dark magic and live a quiet life somewhere far from Solaria, and her younger sister to handle with everything (+ another one trauma for Stella) (And of course dark/light motive)As manipulative as always. This is probably the only exception from all Trix when I like the personality from the series.

Stormy

≈17y.o. (older than Icy by 3 months) In the series, she is just... nothing. She was almost never given any normal time apart from the other Trix. So I radically changed it both externally and internally. I gave her the personality of Floyd from the game Twisted wonderland. And one more thing - hair. Stormy's hair now changes according to her mood (White and fluffy - good mood, Gray or dark purple - anger) (like clouds)

And one more note! Icy had a pet duck. I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT IT, BUT. GUYS. THIS. This is what I need. Just a proud duck mom Icy.

so i finished Fate:The Winx Saga season 2…….

SPOILER ALERT!!

RAMBLING AHEAD BRACE YOURSELVES

…….i freaking loved it!!!

i mean season 1 was cute, something nice to watch especially if you, like me, used to watch the animated show as a kid, and wanted to be brought back to that world

but season 2 slapped!! i loved it!! idk why but it had that something more.

i guess it felt like while in S1 the story was completely revolving around Bloom, just focusing on her growth and her adapting to the Otherworld, in S2 we know that Bloom is important because we finally discover that she has the Dragon Flame and is the only one that can best Sebastian, still it allowed other characters to have their own stories and development. Also Sebastian surname being Valtor… we love a good reference

I loved all the other side-stories: Aisha & Grey, when i found out he was a blood witch i was like OwO

Terra storyline was so sweet!! Flora also is a great addition to the ensemble and i liked it how she is different than how she is in the animated series (since her personality is already portrayed by Terra), it would have been boring otherwise

Bloom and Sky… they are adorable, incredible chemistry and it shows, all their scenes were either absolutely lovely or absolutely heartbreaking

Stella and Beatrix: yes please! i loved them together! two sassy queens dealing with a lot of shit, i hope Beatrix comes back (also she has two sister Isobel and D’arcy!! the way i SCREAMED, i feel the trix are coming)

then my beloved Musa and Riven: i love love love love love them, Musa storyline was brilliant this season and i love how they showed Riven growth (less of an asshole and more similar to the Riven in the animated series)

i also liked the way the gave Farah a proper farewell (they shipped her away from westeros for that scene lol)

also OMG THE TRANSFORMATION!!!!!!

ahhhhh the more i think about it the more i love this season

Hi! Could you explain what Selina's deal is exactly? Doesn't she have the Legendarium in your rewrite? (Your askbox says art prompts, so if you don't mind doodle a little Selina to go with this ask too ^.^)

helloooo as usual sorry for taking a few days to answer i'm horrible. ok mmmm see i’m not great with writing and i don’t have all my thoughts perfectly sorted out but. in short.

she does have the legendarium sort of it’s just not like the show. it doesn’t summon fairytales creechers bc i find it silly it just holds any type of spell and magic and allows you to use it regardless of your level and skills if it makes sense

then the deal with selina in general is that she’s an earth fairy of snakes with one mom from earth and one mom from tír na nóg. specifically i made selina’s earth mom be from southern italy like meeeeee bc the old ladies in my town (my great grandma) do a weird pagan-christian type of Magic and selina gets to mess around with that too besides her fairy magic. she grows up to be a bit of a Hoarder of different magic types and techniques or whatever you'd wanna call it. whenever the wizards start hunting down the earth fairies for good selina is orphaned (haven't decided if earth mom dies too or not tbh we'll figure it out later) and gets stuck in tír na nóg w the other fairies. yea i stole icy’s s8 tragic backstory and gave one to selina instead bc she needs like Anything at all. eldora’s like a guardian fairy and her role sort of is to take care of the younglings so she takes selina under her wing especially bc selina gets like super super ambitious and is obsessed w learning more and getting stronger. that's how she ends up getting the legendarium from eldora and it fits perfectly w selina’s collectionist attitude abt magic if you will fjwifoafk. as she immerses herself in her studies she grows resentful and angry at her parents for letting themselves get killed which is really just being angry at herself for being a little kid who couldn't help. when the revenge fairies start arming up she joins them and it cracks eldora's heart a bit. they don't let her in any actual fight from s4 - she's still young and the earth fairies have already lost so many of their youngs - and it makes her bitter. even more so when they eventually repent. she's now convinced that fairies are weak and good for nothing - her mom died and her sisters in arms mellowed out - so when tír na nóg is finally freed and she can go study in magix she decides to hop ship and enroll in torrenuvola becoming a witch. the legendarium helps, it lets her use spells from magic types that aren't her own, of levels that she hasn't yet reached, so she does extremely well for herself as a brand new witch.

so the trix notice her, pick her up, bring her into fights w the winx & roxy in s5 blablabla but she Does get redeemed and she Does attempt to transition back to fairy and join alfea (make it a narrative abt Accepting Yourself For Who You Are <3 lmaonfjsidiw) but it doesn't really work out and she gets stuck as some type hybrid. she has to re-do her first year so even tho she's a year older than roxy they end up in the same class and in fact not only that but they also end up being roommates bc the winx don't fully trust her on her own so they pull some strings to get them stuck together which is ANNOYING bc they DON'T GET ALONG but they'll get better w it :^)

i'm riddled w exams so take this absolutely shitty horrid criminal fast as fucc boi doodle of selina & her noodle salem studying together and sharing snacks like that vine you guys remember vine

oh absolutely, fandom is built on the life blood of comments and i've made some of my dearest friends fangirling over each other's fic. Plus, i've never been particularly overwhelmed by comments so it's never been a particular hardship.

In Cupid's Little Bag of Trix, probably. Clint and Darcy are a barrel of monkeys and they're both so fucking full of zest.

Not that I've ever noticed. I'm fortunate enough to just get readers who want to be chill. i had someone once scold me for being mean to Alec Ryder, lol.

so much smut- less in Mass Effect, which is mildly hilarious given Aedan's penchants, lol.

Not unless you count the various branchings of Marvel. I don't really get the appeal.

I sail an armada, lol. I multiship and my favorite varies with what day it is. Right now, Codywan is winning, heh. My favorite to *write* though... Shenko is right up there but Clint/Darcy was so much fun.

15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

none of my WIPs are abandoned. I don't know if I'll ever finish Steal Away Home the way i want to, though.

16. What’s your writing strengths?

Dialogue and characterization, I think. Structurally, I have an excellent grasp of nuance when it comes to word choice in a way that lets me say a lot with not much.

17. What’s your writing weaknesses?

I'm not particularly focused and it can take a long time for me to finish work. And I tend to write without outline and that can lead to a wandering, meander of a fic.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Do it all the time, do my best to make it accurate. I use a smattering of Scots Gaelic for my version of Starkhaven and my source is mostly old books because i like the archaic texture of it. Several of my characters have american south accents and i elide words and use slang and drop g's. '"I am going to the store, mother," she said in her Texas twang' does not read like "Goin' t'the store, ma." and you can't make me believe you don't lose vast amounts of characterization by trying to force it to work. And overly correct dialogue is one of the first reasons i'll drop out of reading fic.

20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?

hard to pick from my favorite children, lol

Cupid's Little Bag of Trix is a (now fairly heavily edited) mess of stream of consciousness that grew a plot from when i was writing quick switch omniscient pov and just expected my readers to figure it out. But i love it. And it remains the biggest boost to my writing ego as ten years after posting, i still get kudos Verge (post Omega DLC) is when i really figured out who Aedan and Kaidan are, together and it manages to wreck me all over again, every time i re-read it.

i am living for season 2 of fate: the winx saga. the creators thought every little detail through so well. the first season was a bit iffy but ive said since day one i WILL watch the entire show, no matter how cringe it gets otherwise i’d be betraying my inner child. here’s some of my thoughts about s2, w/spoilers!

why did it take me so long to realise sebastian VALTOR IS valtor, like bro they couldn’t have made it more obvious but my brain just wasn’t keeping up i shipped valtor & bloom way too hard when i was a kid. and ngl, seb was kinda fine after he stopped pretending to be a little bitch.

DONT GET ME STARTED ON THE TRIX! when i tell you i screamed when i saw that fucking letter with “D’arcy and Isobel” (icy please be you). now i’m so impatient for season 3 purely for my favourite witches. also praying that my bae beatrix comes back. on that note, stormy was always my least fave of the trix (sorry, not sorry) but the portrayal of beatrix was absolutely perfect. idk if she genuinely didn’t know about her past & that everything we’ve been led to believe about her is true, or if beatrix was just a double agent for ANOTHER unseen force which is equally likely (much like stormy in original winx club, can’t remember the ep) but either way it goes i fucking love her. the actor, the writing, the character development — everything is chefs kiss.

OH and THE SUBTLE HINTS TO DAPHNE??? i was eating that shit up. every little flashback when whoever tf was talking about bloom not having anyone to guide her & then showing another girl (similar in appearance to bloom) helping her embrace her fairy side. DAPHNE BABE IF IT’S NOT YOU, I DON’T WANT IT.

Emeralda wasn’t stupid. She had known the two kids were Brystal’s grandkids. However, what she didn’t know was why Brystal had let them go off on their own.

“Xanthous?” She asked, entering the steel room.

Xanthous looked up from the letter he was writing. “What’s up, Emmy?”

“The two kids earlier…”

“I know. Conner clearly gets his personality from Brystal. He acts so much like her it’s scary.” He put down the pen. “The question is…”

“Why didn’t Brystal tell us they were here?”

There wasn’t time to dwell on the question though. They could ask her themselves. They had a meeting.

Well, on paper it was a meeting. In reality it was a chance for the Original Council to unwind behind closed doors and calm down as themselves instead of the masks they put on.

Xanthous got up and smiled at Emeralda. “I really hope that the twins don’t cause too much trouble.”

“They’re John’s kids, and Brystal’s grandkids. The chances they won’t cause problems are lower than Elrik’s standards.”

“Hey!” Xanthous said, offended. Emeralda laughed as she walked out, laughing internally.

She arrived at the redwood doors that made up the entrance to the meeting room. She opened it with a diamond key when Xanthous caught up with her.

“Bitch.” he muttered as he entered.

“Slut.” She muttered back.

“Stop insulting each other.” Said Lucy. “It’s improper.” As if she had any roght to judge them.

“I’ll keep that in mind.” Said Xanthous with a huff. He sat on his chair and looked over. “So, any life updates?”

“No. Well, the twins are missing.” Brystal said. “Charlotte says they went through the portal, but—“

“Oh, they came to visit. Conner gets his lying and sense of righteousness form you. And probably his ability to be a lawyer.” Skylene said this all in her matter-of-a-fact, but oh-so random way of hers. “But why haven’t you found them?”

“Really?” Brystal sounded amused. “I’ve been having trouble tracking them, probably their powers acting up to shield.”

“Yeah, he currently goes by Conner Wishington. We had a trial earlier and he stood up for her.”

“Was it Trix?” Lucy asked.

“Yeah.” Tangerina shrugged. “He was definitely very… well, he was like you. Alex was mostly quiet.”

“Alex has always been the more cautious one.” Agreed Brystal with a small hum. “I’ll ask the royals if they’ve seen them.”

“Mhm.”

“Okay, onto other things.” Brystal said. “The Princess of the Charming Kingdom has been born.”

“I heard.” Skylene said. “What do you think her name will be?”

“Something stupid and pretentious. Wish or Love.” Xanthous said dryly. “Royals love stupid and pretentious names.”

“Aren’t you a royal?” Emeralda pointed out with a raised eyebrow at her best friend.

“My name means ‘marked by yellow coloration’. My name is stupidly pretentious.” Xanthous said dryly. “And El’s comes from a surname meaning ‘elf ruler’.”

“Fair enough.” Emeralda sighed. “Brystal, I’ve been meaning to ask you, by the way, do you hav any headache medication?”

“Mhm.” Brystal reached into her bag and pulled out a pill bottle. “Why?”

“Ugh, politics. Remember when we were kids and didn’t have to deal with politics and the whims of Humans?”

“We did that when we were kids.” Lucy said.

“Yeah, but there was a significant chuck between when we arrived at Madame Weatherberry’s and when we became World Leaders.” Emeralda sighed. “I hate this so much.”

“Well, that’s politics.” Xanthous said. “You did kind of sign up for it.”

She picked up the pillow from her chair. “You signed up for it twice.”

Lucy snorted in amusement. “You kinda did Xanny.”

Since WITCH is coming back I'm revisiting my Phobos x OC ship and have the brilliant idea to make a fankid. While I haven't made a lot of fankids Elizabeth is the one that I think about the most. I guess the idea of a Guardian being related to a series' villain is much too delicious to pass up on. Elizabeth is named after my late maternal grandma.

In Metamoor it's Princess Deimos Escanor. Most times she goes by Elizabeth Escanor.

Being a female royal she is the Crown Princess of Meridian but the thing is, she doesn't want to become queen!

Has a brother named Aremars (ares+mars) who is more knowledgeable and interested in politics than she is; he eventually becomes Crown Prince after she convinces her aunt to change the rules of succession in turn avoiding past mistakes

I think there'd be a story where she arrives to earth from the future and meets the previous Guardians + her dad, who is painfully undergoing a redemption arc.

As the Guardian of Darkness she has her mom's abilities plus the added gift of starlight and aurora manipulation.

Fun loving, hardheaded, superstitious, has Phobos' cunning and Samara's assertiveness

If Deimos took over, Meridian would've turned into a nocturnal kingdom; think futuristic cottagecore complete with glowing mushroom architecture and giant glowbugs for streetlights. But it's definitely not evil like her father's reign

Actual part of the reason why she doesn't want the throne is not just personal disinterest but also to avoid controversy of children of a former tyrant inheriting the throne

Enjoys rain, coffee, and watching trashy tv.

1 - I don't even know why I've liked her so much since I was a kid. If I remove the version of Icy I wrote, I love her because she has a sick design, extremely cool powers, and especially in books and comic canon she isn't entirely, hopelessly evil. There's room for growth and change and that's all I've ever wanted to see for her

2 - favorite canon thing... ok one has to be how she canonically tried to stop global warming. Did she give up and act like a spoiled vip when she realized she couldn’t make it? Yes. But she actually tried first.

7 - people are starting to draw her with loose hair and I live for it

9 - idk if it's my version of Icy I think she'd want a room of her own 🤭 but yeah if it's two separate rooms that's totally possible

Okay, since I’m tagged on this tumblr account I’ll first go with WINX of course.

1. Driven (Darcy x Riven - Winx Club)

I’ll say it over and over again – they’re perfect. THE POTENTIAL: OMG: If Rainbow had be braver and didn’t focus SO much on Bloom, they could’ve added such an angsty storyline. They build the grounding but never made it to detail and that’s a shame. I may repeat myself, but Darcy was the first one to listen to Riven. To really listen and maybe even the first person after a long time to actually care for him. Of course, she is beautiful and she used that beauty to enchant him but what mattered in the end was that Riven finally found someone who was really interested in him. Someone who saw his ambition and talent. Someone who didn’t see the sparkly outside of perfect Sky and Brandon but who saw this man, who I bet went trough a lot to achieve the right to study at Red Fountain. Finally, someone interested in the one who trained hard to be where was and who wasn’t privileged like other people. Another thing I love about them is the trust and faith Riven had in Darcy who.. in the end destroyed that YES THANKS RAINBOW.  I mean, he never questioned her even though he knew that the Trix’ plans were evil. He did not care about that. Only for her. The betrayal must have been hard. But what about Darcy? How did she feel? Well, we never saw it but regarding her character she might be an overthinker who thinks everything through, who is afraid to show her true self. Darcy seems to be the one who is afraid of losing control and of being betrayed herself. So better destroy than get destroyed? I’m sure she opened up to Riven to some extend and got caught by her own fear of losing control and then overreacted. Maybe. Who know. But the thing is that their end came completely out of the nowhere and I wished the writers had focused a bit more on that instrad of making a cut so that another fairy had a love interest by the end of season 1. It also should have been more focus on their relationship in the following seasons. (I miss the longing stares omg. We could have so much angsty drama!) I think the end of the relationship was not easy for both of them. Darcy lost everything at the end of season 1 and I’m sure she questioned herself a lot after it. Like, what would have happened if etc. And Riven, even more broken than before. What did he think? It’s no secret, that most characters in this show need therapy but these two? Couple therapy maybe lol (now this was long, but that’s when I talk about ships haha)

2. Brella (Brandon and Stella - Winx Club)

I don’t really talk about the fairies here, but I love Brella. They are such a healthy and dynamic couple. Even as a kid I noticed how harmonic and devoted. I loved, that they got so much attention in the show and that they were the harmonic couple and not Sky and Bloom. They had the storyline in s1 I which Brandon disguised as Prince Sky and lied to her. He was afraid, that Stella would only like him as a prince. And yes, Stella might look superficial at first glance but in fact she is not. And I think she showed a lot of strength in forgiving Brandon who lied to her for a long time. She made no big deal of it even though she is a princess who could have easily married or dated a prince. But she chose Brandon. Then there is the Downland arc at the beginning of season 2 and it wouldn’t have worked with another couple. As I said, they are devoted to each other. Stella fkn jumped after him into that abyss without a second thought? Luckily they survived but then Amentia shows up and Stella almost dies because there is no sunlight in Downland. So to save her life, Brandon agrees to marry Amentia who then agrees to let Stella go. I could fangirl over this arc a lot but I won’t because it already gets too long here. Then s3 in which Stella thinks that it might be just her beauty which Brandon loves (which doesn’t make sense after what they went through) but I think the problem Stella has, is that she was always judged by her looks. She was raised to be a perfect princess and let’s face it, before she met Bloom and the Winx, she had no real friends. However back to the show, Brandon knew that Stella was transformed into that Monster but he did not care. Of course not. He was trying to help her no matter what, just to see her happy again. I won’t focus on the later seasons, because they might still have their cute moments there but after all there was too much beef going on between all the couples and I don’t consider these superficial seasons as canon so I’ll stop here. But Brella is chef’s kiss. The best Winx couple followed by Tecna and Timmy and no one can convince me otherwise.

3. Ethel Hallow x Nick Hobbes - Weirdsister College (Do they have a shipping name?)

Since it was rosie, who tagged me I think I have to take a ship which has nothing to do with Winx but which goes more in the direction of Harry Potter and The Worst Witch. And that is an easy one: Ethel Hallow x Nick Hobbes. OMG the potential, the POTENTIAL! Same as driven, they have so much unused potential even though they were on the best way to build an angsty couple with trust issues and all the drama my fangirl heart needs. I love how Nick noticed right away, that Ethel resembled him. She always played the nice and hardworking students but we all know that she was a devious bitch who used every opportunity to make Mildred look bad. And from her perspective, she did nothing wrong. It was always Mildred who stole the show by breaking the rules and being at school but was in the end the good girl who was appreciated. She always played by the rules (yeah not always but she tried her best) and was ambitious and just wanted to be the number one student, yet who interfered? Always Mildred. It’s no wonder she tried everything to get rid of her. Ethel just wanted a happy school life without interruptions. So she wasn’t innocent at all and Nick knew that. In the first episode of Weirdsister College, he immediately checked that he AND Ethel would not have a chance of passing the all-seeing-eye. He tricked Mildred so that she helped him and used that for him and Ethel to pass the ceremony. He’s the typical bad boy who took advantage of Mildred’s talent and gosh, I wished they hadn’t followed this weird storyline he has with Mildred. Because everything was already there with Ehtel: Both students who tried their best to become the top of the class, both power-driven and both unsure in the end. They have so much in common. And Ethel is, after all, the good girl who fell for the bad boy and she KNOWS that he’s doubtful. She does not trust him but is still fascinated by him. And I just love that trope, okay? Ehtel also gives me hardcore rl Darcy vibes and not, it’s not just because they have the same voice actress I Germany. They’re the dark edgy couple I live for. There could have been done so much if they gave us a second season…..It looked like they were giving up on the Mildred/Nick storyline by episode 9 which was again one big flirt of Ethel and Nick. (The potential!) This is why I hate the way they went on the last episode where it’s like “It’s only you who can save him, Mildred” bullshit. I’m doomed for loving couples the writers seem to hate. I could write an essay about them and I probably will on @yaviae somewhen.

Impression now: Underutilized villain go brr, also the implications of her and Riven's relationship are so much darker than I thought when I was a kid. Jfc girl, what the fuck

Favorite moment: Honestly her actions in s2 at the resort is what really colored my perception of her. She seems, fine there. She's not griping like Icy and Stormy, she seems really fucking freaked out by Darkar and she screams the most when Gloomix is put on her. Idk it implies that Darcy is much different than Icy and Stormy in a sense, the same way Icy not screaming makes her visible different from Stormy and Darcy. Idea for a story: How Darcy joined the Trix, or the ancestral witches

Unpopular opinion: I don't think that Darcy is any more redeemable than Stormy. Is that unpopular?

Favorite relationship: I don't have a romantic ship for her because I feel like place in the Trix would completely and utterly ruin any chance of her having a romantic relationship because she'd literally be unable to commit to them...she does one one really badly though, and I find that stuggle to be interesting. Aside from that her dynamic with most of the Winx is interesting to me because she's the only one of the Trix who really cares enough to remember them. And her feelings for Riven, are very interesting, especially because their all tangled up in her loyalty to her sister and the ancestral witches which causes her to make decisions that competely ruin any chance for real love... something something self fulfilling prophecy

Favorite headcanon: Darcy is probably the cruelest member of the Trix because she's the only one who actual remembers and cares enough about the Winx to figure out good ways to torture them....a sick sentimentality....
