I love going on tumblr and being slapped in the face with some obscure meme that appears out of nowhere overnight, and then you don’t really learn what it means or where it comes from, and maybe you don’t fully understand it, but you just kinda have to play along

i found a really cool feature that may improve your experience on tumblr dot com desktop (colors may vary on your screen if you have

[desktop user] scroll down your dashboard just a little bit and find some links that'll be at the bottom of your window:

you're going to want to click on the Help link [mobile and desktop users] or click here

2. the top of your page should look like this:

you're gonna want to click on Contact Support

3. a submission form like this should pop up. bingo!

4. for the category option, you're going to want to choose Community, Customizing your Tumblr, Feedback, Posting, or Social features. any of those can work! it's up to whatever you feel like, maaan.

5. right under that, there's a body test window. in that window, i want you to put every frustration that you have been noticing about those pesky awful changes that have been happening to Tumblr on desktop. you know like

not seeing the blogs youre following's profile pictures

all the feature actions being moved around

the feature actions moving to the left side and making the dash feed smaller

removing your pfp icon to quickly access your account and blog settings and customizations

or you know, anything else you been thinking about all this nonsense, go wild!

6. lastly and very importantly SUBMIT

I was in the mood to look up some macabre art so I typed 'death' in the search bar. Tumblr gave me a bunch of suicide prevention support numbers and sent a mental health support bot to my DM.

So, good job Tumblr. I'm glad to see you care.

I remember this one post on here that changed my whole Tumblr experience

It was a post for the refugees from Twitter/Reddit and it said a few things that stood out to me

1. It hammered in CRINGE CULTURE IS DEAD HERE into my brain and made me less afraid to express myself as an autistic person

And 2. "You are a raccoon and your blog is your trash pile. You must go out into the world to collect things for your trash pile (aka rebloging) and fill it with whatever you want!" And the moment I read that I thought out loud "IM GONNA BE SUCH A RACCOON YOU DONT EVEN KNOW!1!1!1!1!1" and so I started rebloging and doing more than just posting my own art with a semi professional mask

I started being myself and connecting with other awesome blogs (@the-moth-from-elsewhere and @slime-sandwhich-nom y'all r really cool and I love ur art!) And felling a lot more confident on social media

So confident I started treating Twitter like it was Tumblr Retweeting cool art, being more open about my feelings, and overall understanding social media and what it means to have your own trash pile better than before

So whoever made that original post

I just want you to know you made my life on the Internet so much better than it was before! :3

I posted that comic on like every website ever and I just wanna say, fuckin tumblr has the most meaningful and human interaction with media I think.

Like sure hundreds and thousands of twitter and bluesky users look at it, they like it, they quietly repost it to their feeds or whatever. Reddit and instagram users upvote and like it quietly and a few people might throw down a sensible chuckle in the comments...

But tumblr users? Y'all are like appreciate the thing verbally and express admiration, love, and joy openly in the replies, the reblog comments, and the tags. I love and appreciate the tumblr experience so much.

"don't tag this ship here!!!!" (Context: a ship not referring to the art was mentioned in the tags, as a commentary. It was not one of my posts though)

"now WE (shippers of that ship) have to see it!"

"The ship that's actually in this post is bullshit, they have no chemistry etc."

Hater? Fuck you.

I went there specifically looking for the ship tag that you hate and I now have to see YOUR bullshit, so get a grip. Anyone can ship what they want, regardless if it has chemistry or not. No matter if it's "only popular because it's a stereotypical ship" Ever heard of crack ships? It's a thing. I don't need to justify my shipping choices, thank you.

Commentary in tags is tumblr culture. Just look away. I can't believe it, but I'm actually quoting Jesus on you: "if your eyes are what tempts you, gauge out your eyes. If you can't control your hands, cut them off." Ship shaming is so fucking lame, I'm so done with this.

You can block tags you don't like!

And yeah, okay, it doesn't always work. I personally don't tag everything I reblog either, but for the love of - someone. Just scroll past!

If it bothers you THAT much, You can make posts gathering awareness of the importance of tagging correctly or if the ship is problematic for some reason (e.g. incest/pedophilia/etc.) report the user. You can ask the poster to correct their tags but you don't have to be a dick to people online. Especially not in this case because it was clearly just about preference.

Do you know how many times I read fanfics with Leon ships in them even when they're not tagged? Do you have any idea how often I see Alastor ship art on tumblr? The ship the person mentioned above prefers is another one of my NoTPs that happen to include on of the few ace characters I adore and want to remain outside of ships. I like the art anyway and keep scrolling. And I do not judge them for preferring that ship. Of course they are allowed to ship whatever they want. You can appreciate things you don't like for different reasons. For the humor, for the art style, for the fic it's from... Yeah, you'll cringe, but that's the worst of it. But this?!

Don't attack people for liking your NoTP!!!

This isn't how tumblr should be! We can be better than that!
