finally stopped using twitter. I was never very engaged with it, but I did check it every now and again because there were occasionally interesting or at least entertaining posts on there. 

but now? now its completely unusable. from being recommended things that are transparently picked to be enraging (I was regularly recommended homophobic/transphobic/racist far-right shit for example), to paid blueticks being pushed to the top of every thread, forcing you to scroll through a near endless conga line of the stupidest replies you’ve ever seen, to scam bots flooding the platform, to the open nazi conspiracy theories being not just tolerated but actively put into the spotlight by el*n, to the hate mobs actively harassing queer users unchallenged, the entire site has become completely useless. news are unreliable, verification means nothing anymore. its just a stew pot of the worst people online pushing each other to be as horrible as possible.

Can I just say I love yall so much. Tumblr is the most wholesome and supportive media platform and I'm living for the repost tags and comments you all are so kind and precious.

As a new Tumblr user, I feel like I need to make a list of things about Tumblr that are superior to real life.

I don't have to actually be here. Instead, I can schedule my existence in advance. Did I actually just post this, or is this me from last year talking? Nobody knows, nobody has any way of knowing, and that's the best thing ever.

The only things that get put in front of my face are, generally, things that I've previously expressed an interest in. Instead of hearing someone ramble for five hours about the TV show I know nothing about and don't care to learn about, I get to hear someone ramble for five hours about the TV show I know EVERYTHING about, which is MUCH more entertaining.

The entire Good Omens fandom lives on here. Technically, the entire Good Omens fandom also lives in real life, but they are nowhere near as easily accessable there, so I still consider that a bonus.

My favorite part of Tumblr vs Twitter is the inclusion.

Over here, if you ask what the hell blorbo from my shows means, someone will eventually help you. You might get one of those long "no, x means [thing] blorbo is [very wrong word's definition]" type of posts but, it's fun, and someone will eventually help in the tags or comments.

On Twitter, if you ask what oomf means, NO ONE WILL TELL YOU. "If you don't know, you don't need to know 🤭" I will eat your fucking kneecaps, just tell me wHAT THINGS MEAN.

Basically, Tumblr happily includes people into inside jokes, but Twitter forces you to use context clues and that's why so many of us here are neurodivergent. No guessing, just being explained things then asked to keep them here for our amusement. (Very simple and easy request.)
