A while ago, I asked @sariphantom how I can think them for always participating in my silly little art stuff (I’m thinking of doing more, should I?) and they said they wanted me to draw Leopatra, their version of Leo…I think I went a little farther then that, couldn’t resist drawing the turtles tutting. LOL!

You may ask yourself, "How the hell does a Deaf/Hard of Hearing person edit music into a visual video?"

Well thanks to Adobe's tools in After Effects, it allows me to see the waveform of the audio while I have the music on full blast on my headphones allowing me to feel and hear the bass and higher pitched noises to differniate a beat.

With a little bit of know-how on time remapping tools in After Effects, I was able to sync up the fantastic footage I got of the cast crew signing "All the Oxytocin in Your Fingertips" with music by "Me The Machine" (instrumental) by Imogen Heap. That song plays a bit of a crucial point in the play and has such an addictive beat!

The more I've rehearsed with this crew, the greater my appreciation grows for stagecraft and the work that goes into a production. This week is the week of rehearsals at the CoMMA theater before the show begins on Nov. 16, 17 and 18th! Fingers crossed!

Looking at Hamilton: I am already balking at trying memorize the entire choreography, lines and rapping. Mad respect to theater performers!

Dance to the Music

Sly and the Family Stone have been telling us that for decades. Why'd y'all stop listening?

Someone pointed out that a lot of these new choreographers and tiktok dancers only dance to the lyrics, and now I can't unsee it, and it annoys me to no avail because why are you not dancing to the beat?!?!

I bet if you put an instrumental on, they'd spasm lost with no lyrics to guide them.

They're all scrambling to be the chosen line dance for Beyoncé's Texas Hold Em, and they are all failing because they're only dancing to her words. I don't know if you know this, but the way a singer sings is different throughout the whole song, so there is no way to repeat the steps for the whole song. Which is the point of a line dance!

You do know what is consistent throughout the runtime of a song? The beat dammit. It's pretty much the same beginning to end.

In conclusion dance to the mother fucking beat!!!

I say I didn't notice it until it was pointed out, but that's not true. I did notice I just couldn't put my finger on why I don't like certain dances and dancers from the last seven or so years. A part of it is that nothing is smooth anymore. Most are doing this jerky, pop and lock, robot, tick, tutting, krumping, and I hate it. They do that shit to r&b. Like, what? Make it make sense. No one matches the vibe of the song. Why are you krumping to 1+1 Rebecca?!

Been really hyped up for this project as it's my first role in a play outside of an educational setting being directed by a talented co-worker of mine, Kee Lee with the production being helmed by Derek Long with an original play by Cary Simowitz:

"All the Oxytocin in Your Fingertips"

An immersive experience for Deaf and Hearing audiences. Performed in ASL and spoken dialogue alike with dive into tutting and Deaf culture.
