"Hmmm, you got an A+ on Crewel's test again. Good job, Y/N."
You rubbed your thighs together, trying to hide your arousal while Lilia was placing the tea he had brought you two on a quaint table.
Lilia would invite you and Grimm to Diasomnia for the occasional chat with the enticement of good tea and tasty snacks. Good thing Grimm was stuck with Ace and Deuce for setting fire to the rose garden again.
"You must've studied hard. Passing Crewel's tests are no easy feat, after all." Lilia poured the tea into two porcelain cups, ignorant of the acts being committed behind his back.
"Here's your tea." Lilia had appeared next to you with a teacup and a saucer while you had been lost in your own world of pleasure.
"Oh! I see! Thank you, Lilia." Lilia raised an eyebrow at your strange behavior but decided not to question it as he took a seat in the chair next to yours.
"Y/N, your face seems quite red."
"It is?"
Before you can even turn around, Lilia glomps his hand onto your forehead. "Don't tell me you've studied until you've fallen ill." If your face wasn't red before, it was now as Lilia kept inching his face closer to yours. "How would the school function without their darling Prefect?" His thumb brushed over your lip as he gave a kitten lick to your neck. "Ah~", Lilia grinned into your neck upon hearing your moan. "Don't worry Y/N, I'll make you feel better."

"Ah, Lilia~", your hands dug into his hair as he sucked at your clit and dove his fingers into your heat, scissoring you open and stuffing his face into your pussy.
“So sweet. So cute.” You could feel the huff of his breath with each word just as yours hitched when you felt a playful nip on your thigh.
You looked down when you heard a belt unbuckle only to feel Lilia slide his dick between your folds, his tip bumping into your puffy clit each time he rubbed it against your pussy.
"Agh, Lilia~"
He let our a chuckle as he pushed into your opening as you could only gasp and subconsciously grab at his shoulders. "Good girl, don't let go."
"Huh, ah~"
Your pussy squelched as Lilia began to ram into your insides while his fingers dug into your hips, using you like a fleshlight. The intensity of his thrusts made the bed creak as you held onto Lilia for dear life as tears began to stream down your face from overwhelming pleasure.
You felt a thumb flick at your face to wipe a few tears away as you locked your eyes with Lilia, only to moan when he licks your thigh. "I'm so proud of you, Y/N. Don't ever stop making me happy, okay."

Tumblr media Tumblr media
He is a ghost. You are a human.
Two sides of the same coin from what he thought was a sign of his so-called fulfilling destiny. A destiny for you to be with him in the afterlife. It was quite unusual for the ghost prince to watch over you for months as he saw you on how kind and soft-hearted you are. The way you got along with everyone around you as you smile warmly but at the same time, snap at anyone who even dared to lay a hand on you or your heartslabyul friends is what makes you attractive to him.
Plus, his family are nagging him for him to find someone who can rule beside him as his loving spouse.
And they didn't tell him if the love of his life can be a ghost or a mortal.
He was a very lonely ghost; coped up in his room filled with so much technology, books and consoles as he gamed and studied day and night within the Shroud Palace. He didn't have friends to begin with, only contented with the company of his little brother who also nags him to go outside, visit the mortal realm to see if there's someone caught his eye.
At first, he contemplates about his own decision to his brother's suggestion. Floating around the dark hallways of NRC while overthinking endless possibilities if he goes outside. What if there's someone who would catch him? What if he accidentally spooked someone and died from a heart attack? What if he accidentally possessed someone? And so on and so forth.
"Let's go haunt a ghost! I bet Deuce's gonna run away like a chicken!" He heard a giddy voice out of nowhere, making the ghost prince flinch from the sudden noise. Ida was internally panicking, quickly scrambling to see which hiding spot was best for him. "I am not!" Another (angry) voice filled the hallway as the flashing light of the flashlight fills the right side of the hallway. "Hey guys, you two buy me lunch if (m/c) here runs away. I wanna stuff myself with that delicious canned tuna tomorrow!"
As the voices began to draw nearer and nearer, he goes through the ceiling of the building, only his face as poking through it's wooden surface. "Hey, I ain't scared of ghosts! Plus, we're gonna be in so much trouble when Riddle finds us ghost hunting in 2 in the morning."
And that's how he met you. His eyes caught a particular human and became intrigued by you like some kind of rare artifact he obtain from the games he played before. He felt like this was like a dating sim; him being a mysterious entity who fell in love with the protagonist and loved happily ever after as the couple consumate their marriage.
The ghost prince followed you everywhere to learn more about you. From your favorites, your strength and weaknesses, games you play, your birthday, anything!! And soon enough, he fell deeply in love with you. He would constantly tell Ortho about this mysterious human he fancied. How he wished that he would just appear on front of you and profess his love as he carries you into the deep depths of the underworld. Or perhaps, you would even fell for him when you knew that your admirer wasn't just a ghost but part royalty!
He thought that it was just some mere crush but Ortho tells him otherwise that he finally found himself some love. "Don't you get it brother? You finally found the love of your life! Isn't that wonderful? Now mom and dad would be so happy when they knew that you found your potential spouse!"
Idia didn't buy his brother's words but wants to secretly court you by giving gifts that was considered as courtship gifts from his kind. Trinkets of silver coins appeared randomly in different parts of your dorm. A bouquet of black roses was placed on your doorstep and heartfelt and sweet letters written by yours truly appeared mysteriously by the mail box.
And you made a mistake by accepting those gifts. You didn't reject those gifts but was looking forward to see what gifts your admirer has for you. At first thought, you guessed that your secret admirer was kind of shy and didn't want to reveal his identity until they're ready to reveal who they are in the first place.
But what you didn't know is that your admirer wasn't a human like you.
His guards came back to him with great news, telling the entire royal family that the human the future heir liked had accepted those gifts with open arms. Oh, how happy his parents was when they knew that their oldest son found his true love. His mother couldn't wait to see the future ruler who would rule beside her son. His father on the other hand, gave a silent nod, indicating that he approves of his future in-law joining the family.
Even more months has passed by, more and more gifts are sent by your doorstep but he guards didn't left those gifts but by himself. The way his lovestruck eyes glistened as you excitedly open the small box that was wrapped in a pretty black ribbon and has a label with your name on it with a little doodled heart at the end of your name.
While being invisible, he sat right beside you, waiting patiently as you opened the box to reveal the most beautiful piece of jewelry you've ever seen; it was a silver ring, embedded with sapphire gems around the band and a blue skull gem can be seen on top of the band. Idia watched in nervousness, watching you closely inspecting the ring as if you are jewel critic. Without hesitation, you wear the ring and heavily admiring it, making Idia sigh in relief, a weight of his shoulder finally lifted off when he saw that you accepted his engagement ring.
You didn't even know that you're now engaged to the ghost prince himself.
And you swear to yourself that you felt a small warm peck on your forehead but quickly shrugged it off, thinking that it was just the wind blowing from the window you've forgotten to close.
From that point on, Idia would constantly follow everywhere you go under the guise of him being your night in shining armor. In class? He's there by your side, and dropped a small flower he picked outside on the courtyard. Walking along the lonely hallways of the school? You can feel your hand being interwined by some invisible force. Felt even just a bit of hunger and craving sweets? No worries, for the ghost prince himself would provide you some sweets to satisfy your cravings.
For the longest time, he never felt this happy. Happiness was not on his list for a long time and the only way he seek his own happiness was by playing games on his computer. He never thought he could find somebody that would make him happy.
He felt empty and alone for a long time and it seems that you filled in the missing gap within his heart. As soon as the royal messenger told all the ghosts that the prince found a potential suitor, everyone was very excited to see their future ruler.
The ghost prince also appeared on your dreams whenever you went into deep slumber, now finally has the courage to at least hold you and giving you sweet kisses whenever he saw you. Idia would talk about on how pretty/handsome you looked and if you receprocate his methods of 'flirting', you can see his hair turning into a soft shade of hot pink as the blush on his face reddened up like some kind of tomato.
It was bittersweet if Idia was honest, sure that he can finally interact with you without freaking you out that he's a ghost but he's desperate for you to be one of his kind. To be right beside him and to be crowned as the next crowned royal of his kingdom. Oh how he imagined you in a formal attire, a bouquet in hand as the flow of your veil flows through the isle as he stares at you with heart eyes. He can feel his heart thumping non stop whenever he imagines you getting married to him.
But what he thought was a perfect fairy tale has turned into an absolute nightmare.
If love has its own enemy, it's not other than obsession itself.
For you see, Idia is a very envious man. He doesn't like it if some lowly NPC fawns over you from afar, would even talk to you or being friends with you, especially those heartslabyul brats. He doesn't like it how they would hug you or wrapping their arms around you, even if it's just mere platonic. He the only one who can do those acts for you. He's your fiancé for goodness sake! He's supposed to be the only man in your life.
Oh wait, you didn't know it yet but soon enough, you will soon find out that you are the reason why bad luck has occurred within the school.
Don't let his jealousy reach to the top because he doesn't hesitate to make that person disappear or driven to the brink of insanity to the point that they took their own life. He would constantly appear at the end of the hallway, the prince would either glare at you or giving you a sinister smirk and disappear when a person walk by your vision. It freaked you out and it didn't stop there; every single night, you would hear vague whispers of your name, old wrinkled papers that dated back centuries ago has little messages on it, smeared in black and red ink as possessive words were written all over the parchment.
And that's not all, your dreams with the mysterious entity has becoming a terrible dreams. Warning you that he'll come for you if the right time comes (the right time was today). His words made you absolutely scared the living daylights of you, and finally consulted the only teacher who has connections with the other side, Mr. S himself. You and your heartslabyul friends ran straight towards the small boutique at the side of the school, only to see the shopkeeper closing his shop for the day. "Mr S! We need to speak to you and this is urgent!" Ace heaved and panted, his lungs greedily intaking lots of air to breathe.
"Ah my little imps! What are you guys doing here? Aren't you guys supposed to be in the dining hall with the others? And what happened to them?" He pointed at you, eye bags and blood shot eyes as you trembled in fear, both your arms are placed around your arms as if it would protect you. "It's a long story, Mr. S but we want to know about a particular ghost that haunted not only the school but also our friend here. Is there a possibility on why (m/c) is haunted?" Deuce added while rubbing your back as a way to comfort you.
Sam inspected your entire article of clothing to see if there's something suspicious that could link towards the haunting and his eyes landed on the ring rested on your ring finger. His eyes stared at the strange looking jewelry that gives off this weird energy surrounding the four of you. He needs to confirm if his thoughts are true by inspect the band around your finger. "Hmm, may I see your hand, little imp." He inspected the ring and you slowly realized that the wrenching feeling on your stomach was confirmed when the tall man's eyes widen in disbelief. "So that's why you're being haunted.." he muttered. "What's the reason Mr. S?" Grim replied, worried for his answer.
"That ring. The ring you had on your finger belongs to the royal family of ghosts! And if a mortal was gifted with that ring, it was stated that you now belong to that particular family, precisely to their oldest son!" Looks of disbelief appeared on their faces, you on the other hand, felt the colors from your face drain off upon hearing such news. "So wait wait, if (m/c) has a ghost pinning after them, does it explain why they have gifts and flowers appeared on their doorstep out of nowhere?" Deuce asked, out of curiosity.
The shopkeeper sighed in disappoinment, indicating that not only that one of the students has been favored by a ghost but their life being at risk. "I'm afraid so, little imp. I'm so sorry."
In the far corner of the shop, Idia stood there, hands curled into a fist as his expression contorted into anger and possessiveness.
. ·͙*̩̩͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩̥͙ ✩ *̩̩̥͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩͙‧͙ .
You couldn't sleep tonight.
Staring towards the ceiling of your bedroom as you held your blanket for dear life after hearing what the shopkeeper has told you and your friends hours ago. Thank the heavens that Grim is asleep right by the chair because you couldn't handle him seeing your bloodshot eyes and tears are threatening to stream from your face. Even your body tells you that you need some sleep, you still convinced yourself that you are not tired, at least when the issue is finally solved.
Speaking of which, both your mouth and your throat are getting dry but you're still terrified on getting up from the bed. You've become so thirsty that you got up from your bed and began to wake Grim up from his peaceful slumber.
"Grim.." you shook the furry feline. "Grim wake up.." The feline only muttered in slight annoyance. "I need some company, I'm too scared on coming back down." Grim muttered and flipped on the opposite side of the armchair. "Hnggg go bother Deuce and Ace on the other room, I'm tired (m/c)." He replied, dozing back to sleep and coming back to his dream of his.
You didn't want to bother both of your friends in the other room, plus you don't want those two to be teased you off as the chicken of the group, so you went downstairs alone, armed with a flashlight to light your way into the dark hallways of your dorm. Normally, you are used to the eeriness of your dorm. The small creaks produced by the floor as the wind howled outside of the locked windows of your dorm didn't even bothered you but due to the fact that an entity now watches you, you became a bit scared. Every twist and turns of your head whenever you heard something ominous from afar. From the creaks below the floor boards to the falling book from the bookshelf from the hallways.
Finally, you arrived at the kitchen and felt like the atmosphere was cold; the fridge wasn't even open yet and it felt like -5 degrees within your home. You took out a pitcher and a glass to drink and all of the sudden, you heard a whisper on the left side of your ear.
"(m/c)..."
You've became startled, almost choking from the cold water you swallowed as you face the direction where the voice came from.
There's no one on your side.
You continuously drink the cold beverage when you felt something took a hold of your waist by both arms.
"So warm.... So soft...."
Out of fear, you dropped the glass, shattering it into bits of pieces and began sprinting back to your room. Your breathing quickens as you internally panic for your own safety. 'He's here!!' you mumbled to yourself. 'The ghost prince is here!!' You almost made it to your room but alas, your hand was almost cut off when the door suddenly closed in front of you locking it to prevent you from seeking protection from him.
"Darling..." It spoke, making you turn your head to face the entity. "Why are you running away from me? I just wanna see my darling dear's alright, especially when there's so many people tainting you of your innocence, a burden that needs to be obliterated like some kind of RPG monsters and I was doing my job on protecting the one person I cared and loved for." The entity stated. Your panic attack has gone of bad, you began shouting for your friends. "ACE!! DEUCE!! GRIM!! PLEASE WAKE UP!! I NEED SOME HELP!!" You shouted, pounding against the doors of the dark hallways of the dorm.
By luck, the three of them woke up from the sudden noise. "(m/c)?! What's going on-" The heartslabyul duo was about to open the door and that's when they noticed that the door was locked and closed tightly. "(m/c)?! Come on that's not funny, dude! Open the door!" Deuce spoke, ramming the door with his body in attempt to break it open. "I'm not Deuce!!" You also ram your body to the door to help them break it apart but alas, no luck.
The ghost prince watched in delight as the three of you pathetically ram each other's side of the door and sighed in pity. "There's no point in destroying that door, (m/c). If you keep on doing it, your HP's gonna decrease rapidly, especially when there a bruise forming on your elbow." You quickly stopped to see if the prince's claims were true. Rolling the sleeve of your pajama shirt, your eyes widen a bit from the surprise.
There's indeed a bruise on your elbow, it was swollen and a color of blue and violet begins to form underneath the tissue. But it doesn't stop you from helping getting your friends out from their trap. "So stubborn, so feisty as usual from my fiance." He spoke and his words makes you annoyed as he claims that you're his fiance. "I am NOT your damn fiance!! Open this door at once!!" You shouted, standing on your feet despite feeling yourself shaking from fear. The voice chuckled and every turn of your head, various objects are knocked out from it's place.
Tables are moved far from the corner, vases dropped into the floor and shattered into bits of pieces and the creaks of the floor boards has gotten worse as if many people are passing by you. "It's funny you could say that, my dear.." It replied. "You have no idea how much you drive me into the deep depths of jealousy. I hated the way those people whom you call your 'friends' glued by your side, their hands wrapped around your body and it pisses me off knowing that they touched something that belonged to me, and me alone." It sneered and many more items are thrown, either on the wall or on the floor.
"I thought that giving you that ring would make those people would stay away from you, to at least have common sense that the ring would symbolize the ghost prince's love and ownership of you but alas, I'm afraid that I wasn't that well known on your world." It sneered and it chuckled once again as he saw your figure, now sitting on the floor while your hand's still gripping on the door handle as the screaming of your friends kept on going.
"Look into the mirror, (m/c).."
You did what the entity told you and you couldn't stop yourself from shaking, your eyes began to widen in fear as you saw the creature's true form; wearing such clothes that reflected on the color of charcoal and ash, his face was pale as the blazing glow of his hair, tied in a ponytail, began to turn into blazing red from his anger. Finally, his bright yellow eyes that glows a bit from the darkness. His eyes glaring towards you but his smile says otherwise. His smile wasn't only showing his annoyance but something sinister's going to happen.
"I think it's time to wrap things up, my dear. Let's not wait for our marriage to consumate, shall we?" You felt something that gripped both of your legs, ghostly hands forcefully dragging you away from the door as you screamed bloody murder for your friends. You felt your nails scrapping across the floor boards and your fingers began to calloused from the harsh friction of the wood. By the great seven, the door bursts open and you can see Deuce and Ace panting heavily. Their eyes widen as soon as they saw you being dragged away towards the mirror while you keep on screaming for help.
Deuce and Ace began to scramble on their feet and tries to take both of your hands, but the ghosts that accompanied the prince held them on their feet as they watched you helplessly. They will never forget the way your eyes internally screamed for their help and the last bit of your screams began to fade away, your body disappeared from the mirror bit by bit until you disappeared from their view. As soon as you're gone, the ghosts who also prevented your friends from rescuing you are released from their positions. Ace ran straight to the mirror and he viciously pounded the mirror, causing it to shatter bit by bit. Normally, Ace is the kind of friend whose chill during the ordeal but seeing you being kidnapped made his blood boil.
His fists are sore and bleeding from his strong punches as Deuce tries to stop him from landing the mirror another punch. "Ace, snap out of it! Punching the mirror won't to shit, especially when (m/c) was kidnapped by some ghosts!" Ace looked at his friend, breathing heavily, his hands are sore and bleeding from the sharp shards of the mirror. Hearing his friend's voice in an attempt to put a stop on his rampage calms him down a bit. He looked at Deuce with an angry yet vicious expression. "Gather Jack, Epel and the others. We have someone to rescue."
. ·͙*̩̩͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩̥͙ ✩ *̩̩̥͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩͙‧͙ .
It's been two days since you've been captive by the ghosts.
Since your capture, you've been nothing but a nuisance not only to the prince but also to his ghostly guards and servants who tried their best to get you dressed for this special occasion. You fought hard, struggling against the restraints of the ghosts while putting on the garment which can be describe as beautiful and pearl-like. Decorated with the most beautiful pearls and laces and to top it all off with a Vail that could leave a trail behind your dress/tuxedo.
Normally, you supposedly gonna rip out the outfit but seeing the guards burn your original clothes, you have no choice but to stay within this...horrible outfit. Despite it's elegance, you still hated the fact that you'll be forcefully married to their prince. You sat on the room, alone as tears continuously blink and stare towards the wall, tears still appearing on your face.
You tried escaping but the security within the area was quite difficult for someone who doesn't have magic, let alone for the others to rescue to you.
"My lady/lord," a servant spoke, opening the once locked door as they bowed down from your presence. "The ceremony's about to begin and his majesty's ready to tie the knot with you." You are about to speak out that you'll stay within the room you are confined in until two of the guards took you by your arm and dragged you away despite your protests to let you go. You screamed and kicked but to no avail.
Carrying the bouquet of black roses by your hands, your entire body still shook in fear as you marched down the isle. Seeing Idia with a lovesick stare is making you physically sick and each march of your feet feels like you are marching to your death. Upon seeing you, Idia fell for you even harder and seeing you in such outfit is making him breathless. Every sparkle and flow of the fabric makes him quite dizzy when he saw his beloved in a wedding outfit he prepared just for you.
"You look absolutely breathtaking, my love."
After all, it was a very special outfit indeed, because it was once belonged to his mother/father ever since they got wedded years ago.
You couldn't stop crying, even after you arrived at the alter as the ghost priest carries on with the ceremony. You couldn't feel such emotions anymore other than sadness and fear. You couldn't feel the touch the prince gave you as he held your hand for the entire duration of the wedding. Ortho can sense his brother's excitement and couldn't wait for have another sibling figure in his (undead) life.
And now, the moment you've feared the most is finally here.
"Prince Idia Shroud, will you take (m/c) (l/n) to your lawfully wedded spouse? To love, cherish and protect them for all eternity?"
Idia looks at you in awe but is disappointed when he saw your solemn expression, eyes gazing downwards as if you refuse to even look at him but nonetheless smiled softly and answered the ghost in front of them.
"I do."
"And you, Lady/Lord (m/c) (l/n), will you take his majesty Idia Shroud to your lawfully wedded husband? To love, cherish and to accept him as your one and only true love?"
Silence fills the entire building, your eyes are looking straight towards the door, waiting for your friends to rescue you. You hoped and hoped that at least one of your friends rescue you from the hell of a nightmare you're trapped in. You can feel Idia's patience began to wear off as he grips your hands tightly, his expression contorted from being soft to being pissed off in just a second.
You waited and waited but to no avail.
"I do..."
You breathe and sighed sadly as you finally succumb to this deadly fate. Idia smiled at your answer as he slides a second ring and holds your hands tenderly, his eyes looking awestruck at you. "Before I joined the couple together, sould anyone here present know of any reason that this couple should not be joined in holy matrimony? Speak now or forever hold your peace."
......
"STOP THE WEDDING!" Epel shouted as the head of the guests turn to see who disrupted the royal wedding. From seeing your friends, a wide smile appeared on your face, shouting for your friends as thanks for rescuing you. On the other hand, the prince was beyond pissed off and angry, angry that his special day was beyond ruined, thank to those mere mortals. "We've come to make an objection that the prince forcefully married this poor human we call our friend!".
You are about to go down the isle when all of the sudden, Ortho stops you with a firm grip on your arm. His brother's hair began to shift to an angry, blazing red as the building shook on how angry their prince has felt. "How..." He spoke, arms shaking. "How DARE YOU DISRUPT MY WEDDING?! DID YOU KNOW THAT IT'S AN INSULT TO ME AND TO MY BELOVED ABOUT DISRUPTING OUR MOMENT?!"
"I'm not even your beloved nor I agree to be your spouse, let me go!" You said, struggling to be free from his brother's clutches but unfortunately, he didn't budge, not even one bit. "Your majesty!" Jack spoke. "Is there anything we could be to let our friend go? Like is there an object or an artifact we can offer to you?" The prince thought for a while then a sinister smirk formed on his face. "How about we play...a game?" Idia disappeared from their view, only to reappear right beside Ace, startling the poor student. "If you beat me in this simple game of mine, I'll let them go, return to their normal life while I return to the underworld without a spouse. Failure of answer and that resulted to (m/c) being my spouse and spend an eternity with me. Now then," He reached out his hand to seal the deal. "Do we have a deal and agree to my terms?"
The entire group contemplated for a while, making eye contact to you and seeing your distress still pushes them to accept the deal. "It's a deal then, prince." He smiled grimly as he began to walk pace by pace, shaking Deuce's hand and placing two of his hands behind his back. "Let's do a simple rock paper scissors with the score of 3. I'm curious to see what kind of tactics you guys up to..."
. ·͙*̩̩͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩̥͙ ✩ *̩̩̥͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩͙‧͙ .
Cold. The environment is cold and seems new to you. You couldn't help but to sink deeper into the soft mattress of the bed as the lingering smell of peppermint and lavenders invaded your senses, not to mention the gorgeous attire you put on and how light you felt throughout your whole body.
Wait.
This is quite unusual.
You didn't remember putting on such an attire, not especially when you are asleep
Unless you are married to someone else.
All of the memories that happened came rushing back as you got up from the bed, checking the environment and the room you are confined in. Each and every corner of the room was dark, bits of cobwebs can be seen and the amount of light that shines within the room. You are flabbergasted to say the least.
You got up from the bed to inspect yourself. Still on the expensive and elegant attire when you notice something very unusual about your appearance as you lift you hands in front of your face. Your skin has turned into the color of sadness and ashes. You begin to panic, scrambling to search for a mirror to see what on earth has happened to you.
Upon finding the mirror and see yourself for the first time, a scream erupted from you as you saw your newfound appearance for the first time.
From your screams, Idia came rushing from the door alongside with his younger brother. He found you, caught you in just a second after you fell on your knees due to your shock. Tears streaming from your bluish grey-like skin, continuously wrapping your hands around your face to check if you are hallucinating or not.
It turns out you didn't.
"Sweetheart!!" The ghost prince exclaimed, carrying your body towards the bed after he caught you from the fall. "Don't stand just yet my love. You aren't used yet being a ghost."
"....A ghost?"
Idia nodded, kissing your head. "Yes sweetie, a ghost. We just got married, remember? Now we belong in each other's side, ruling alongside me in the underworld as my spouse." His younger brother jumped up and down from excitement and hugged the both of you. "You look really good as a ghost, (m/c) san and I do hope that we got the time to spend some time together as my (in-law) sibling!" You on the other hand, still stiff as a wooden board, is still processing on what happened.
And you remembered it all, all the memories you remembered in the living realm before your life was taken by him.
"You cheating prick!! I didn't know you have the ability to read people's minds!!" Idia chuckled, gripping you closer towards him while the guards took them away from the two of you. "The rules didn't specify that I could use such powers to win the game? Remember?" Deuce can feel his delinquent sona began to resurface, his anger and wrath basically wrapped him like a blanket, knowing that the prince cheated from his own game.
"Now that I win the game," Idia turns to face you. "It's time for me to claim the price." His face has gotten closer and closer towards your own. You felt his excitement from his breathing alone and from the smirk he had on his face. "You may now kiss your spouse.."
"(M/C) NOOO!!"
The ghost prince kissed you in front of your friends and felt cold all of the sudden. You whispered Deuce's name for the last time, tumbling down downwards, finally closing your eyes as the beating of your heart took it's last beat before you died within their sight.
Their screams of sadness and anguish filled the entire building. Their feelings of agony and pain had turned into pure wrath. They failed to save their only friend and began to felt the guilt that they could do so much better for you. Idia reached down to your lifeless body and picked up your spirit from your physical form, carrying you in bridal style, smiling lovingly at your sleeping form. He kissed your lips for a second time before he left your body for the others to bury it.
"The kingdom awaits for you, my love. Rest well, for when you wake up, we have lots and lots of adjustment to amend to."
"Y-you..." At this point, your eyes are blown out, pushing Idia and his younger brother away from you.
"You killed me.."
"Sweetie, listen to me-"
"Dragging me here into the deep depths of this....hellish hole, stuck with you two for all eternity...."
"This is the only way for the two of us to be together!"
"And thinking that I'll be accepting with this new life of mine just because I've married and becoming a ghost like you. You are sick to think that I'll accept you as my husband!"
"I DID ALL OF THAT IS BECAUSE I'VE LOVED YOU!!"
You became quiet from the sudden outburst. Idia heaved heavily from his sudden burst of anger. Ortho came by his side to console his older brother.
"I-I am so sorry love, it's just that I've been lonely for quite sometime and seeing you for the first time is like being alive again. Can you at least open your heart a bit for us? Your newfound family?"
You scoffed and turned away from him.
"Well too bad, you will endure this kind of suffering. As long I'm married to you, I'm be making your lives a miserable one."
He just kept quiet. His eyes kept on looking at you as if he was a kicked puppy. "(m/c) I-" You swatted your hand away. "Go away and leave me alone." Ortho then tried to hug you but you just glared at the poor teenager, sending him off towards the door as tears began to appear on his face. Idia then followed pursuit, gripping the doorknob and kept on staring at you. Once again, your eyes gave a sharp and angry look towards him.
Before he left, he gave you one finale talk before he makes arrangements for your next garments to the dinner party his parents planned for welcoming you to the royal family (God forbid on how he hated attending this kind of event). "Since you're married to me, your last name is now changed into Shroud. I love you and I'll do my best to win your heart like the time I've gave you that ring back in the living realm."
You stared at the ring, still encased on your ring finger as the faint blue light still illuminated on your arm. "As if I'll ever accept you and your sick family. I hate you, I HATE YOU AND THIS HORRID PLACE!"
He sighed, closing the door behind you and locks it. He can still hear your screams of anger and paranoia from the shared bedroom, breaking his heart a bit. Down the hallway, his younger brother is waiting for him, giving him a small pat on his shoulder. "Not to fret, brother. They'll come around soon and realized that being one of us isn't bad." Idia gave him a small smile. "I hope so, Ortho. I do hope so."
And it looks like your entire life is doomed, all because you accepted the ring that could lead to the ultimatum of your once deadly fate;
To be the prince's lover and spouse.

Soft Kissing
Jamil x Reader
You joked suddenly about making out with Jamil, but he seemed a bit intrigued by that.
genre: fluff, drabble
reader is genderneutral (no pronouns in this)
warnings: none? light french kissing though!
Tumblr media
“We should make out… kidding!”
Jamil glanced at you, the two of you were in the library simply studying when you randomly popped that joke out after talking about a couple.
Now there you were, awkwardly sitting there and regretting all your life choices as he stared at you. Welp, there you went messing everything up again, letting your weakness spill to your crush.
“Sure,” he said, still eyeing you.
Now you were bewildered. He seemed so calm about the situation too? When you finally looked at him, he only looked away, pretending like nothing happened.
“Really?” you questioned. “You’re not like questioning me or anything? Not even an insult?”
Closing his book, Jamil sighed. “I’d rather not do this in a public space, let’s head out somewhere else.”
Then, he grabbed your hand and led you away. Soon enough your fingers intertwined as he brought you into an empty classroom. You still couldn’t believe this was happening, and all so fast.
He propped you to sit on the table as he stood over you, holding your waist, and a faint blush spread across his cheeks as he nervously looked to the ground. “Well don’t stare like an idiot, do something, you started this.”
“W-well I said kidding!” you retorted, a blush wildly spreading across your face.
“So do you not want to do this then?”
“That’s not what I said.”
A small smile spread across Jamil’s face, his blush growing even more. “Then, is it okay if I go for it?”
You nodded and stared into his red eyes while he finally looked back. Very slowly, he pushed his lips against yours, cupping one side of your face with his hand, stroking your cheek ever so slightly with his thumb. Jamil never had experience in relationships… much less kissing, but he was doing a wonderful job, it was slow and steady, calculated one might say.
A tongue poked against your lips, which made you open your mouth as he licked your tongue ever so lightly. Opening your eyes a bit, you could see him staring at you and watching your reactions.
Pulling back he kept eyes locked on you. Some things were still on his mind so he asked, “Are we considered friends at this point?”
“I… don’t think so…” you said, getting flustered and nervous now that he may reject.
“Okay,” he stated, pecking your lips softly. “Then, let’s date.”
Nodding, you slowly kiss him back and wrapped your arms around him.

I rewatched the scene from Maleficent 2, where Maleficent fixes Aurora up for her wedding and she and the other fairies turn Aurora's dress into her wedding gown, and it gave me some what of an idea.
After stopping Rollo's plan and grouping back together at NBC, Malleus realizes that Yuu's clothing is a bit tattered and their cape is missing. Yuu explained to him that while aiding the people of the City of Flowers, they use some of the fabric from their clothes to use as make-shift bandages for those who got injured.
Impressed and amazed by their selfless action, Malleus offers to help repair their clothing, not wanting them to feel left out from the party.
"For your selfless act and kindness, this is my gift to you."
And with his magic, Malleus Transforms Yuu clothing with ones more beautiful than the one they wore. A very Cinderella-eque moment happens, captivating everyone present, including Rollo.
Tumblr media
(^Off topic, but I LOVE this scene so much)
Yuu stares down at their new outfit, thoroughly amazed and extremely grateful.
Yuu/MC: It's beautiful. Thank you, Tsunotarou.
Malleus: Hmm, for you, my dear Child of Men, anything.

Aftermath | Rated: G | reader pronouns: none CW: none AO3 link Part two to "Slumber"!
Woken up, you're faced with an important decision while dealing with the aftermath of Malleus' overblot.
Your dreams were whimsical.  Of you playing in a field of flowers, to going to an amusement park, then finally, to you relaxing on the shore of an ocean.  It was just you — nobody else was around as you sat on the beach, gazing out at the ocean serenely.  The sun seemed to be setting, but it had been for a while, hanging stagnantly in the air and dying the sky of reds and purples that any photographer would have killed to capture.
It was just you, on this beach, staring out at the ocean and trying to remember why you had felt so stressed.
Your memories were jumbled.  The world of Twisted Wonderland seemed a lifetime away, small fragments barely seeping into your mind.  It was hard to make sense of them.  At some point, you felt stressed again, as if your peaceful life on this beach wasn't natural, but the moment you got that feeling, a fog seemed to settle over your mind.
No.  Everything was just fine.
You don't know how long you had been sitting on the beach when you finally got up, turning around.  The scenery morphed into a clearing into the woods, and despite the strangeness of it, you didn't find any fault with it.  The trees dipped low, creating an almost hidden nook in the forest as wildflowers dotted the clearing.  It was magical, breathtaking, and...
Yet, something felt off.
That fog threatened to take over your mind, its soothing fingers trying to reassure you that you were safe, but this time you brushed it off as you noticed somebody else in the clearing, snoozing away peacefully on the grass.  He had to have been around your age, with glass-like skin and silver hair that spread out around him like silk.
Up until now, you hadn't seen a single other soul in this (reality?  dream?  space?) place, and so naturally curiosity took ahold of you.  For some reason, he looked familiar, but you weren't sure you had ever seen him in your life.
In a bed of thorns laid Silver, peacefully resting, an odd green glow surrounding him.
Silver...  Silver?
Your head started to hurt a bit, causing you to grimace as you took a step forward.  Your legs felt like lead, but the closer you got, the more your mind seemed to regain its clarity until you were collapsing by his side, trying to clumsily shake the teen awake.  Fragments of your memory were still floating around, not quite allowing you to piece together the full picture, but you understood enough.
Something was dearly wrong.
"Silver...  Silver!  You have to wake up!  Please..."
The boy stirred, purple eyes fluttering open as his eyebrows knit together, mumbling your name in confusion.
"Where...  are we?"
You wished you had the answer to that question.  You didn't, though, so instead you tried your best to fill the knight in on the situation.  "I believe...  We're both under a sleeping curse.  Malleus...  He...."  It was a struggle to tell Silver that his lord overblotted, but Silver seemed to get the memo, a heavy sigh leaving him.
"I understand."  Closing his eyes in thought for a moment, he seemed to be dredging up his own memories of what had happened before Malleus had cursed him.  "You found a way home, didn't you?"
"Ah..."  So, that really was the cause.  Malleus couldn't stand the thought of you going back...  ". . . Yes.  Crowley made a breakthrough, and I had told Malleus about it."
Silver nodded, standing up before helping you up.  He didn't seem as lethargic as he sometimes was; was it perhaps because he technically was asleep in your reality?  Neither of you planned on staying here long enough to find out.
As more memories seeped through, your surroundings seemed to shift.  You were still in the clearing, but no longer did it look magical.  The flowers were wilted, the trees now without leaves and all jagged branches.  Thorns seemed to poke out in the darkness, viscous black ink dripping onto the ground.  Where the overblot droplets met the ground, it seemed to corrode, the grass and flowers folding in on themselves and disintegrating.
No longer was this world enchanting.  It had warped into its nightmarish actuality, as if to punish you for fighting against Malleus' curse.
How did you two get out, though?  Malleus was one of Twisted Wonderland's best mages, and you were a magicless human from a different universe.  Was there even a way out for you?
Silver nudged you along, hand on his sword.  "Come on."  You didn't need to be told twice, following close behind him as he lead you through a narrow path in the woods.  Not for a second did you take your eyes off him, afraid that if you looked away for even a moment, he would disappear and your surroundings would shift once more.  That worry never came to fruition, though.  Without any other problems, Silver had managed to guide you both out of the woods and at the entrance of the Diasomnia dorm.
The sky was dark green, almost black with the storm clouds hovering menacingly above the dorm, and everything was covered in thick thorns, blocking entrance.  Withdrawing his sword, though, Silver made quick work of the thorns, allowing you two to pass and enter the building.
The dorm was empty.  Everything cast alight in green, you had never seen Diasomnia look so dead before, dust floating around in the air as everything else seemed eerily still.  Like you had walked into a picture, everything stuck motionless and unchanging for eternity.  Nothing else could be heard besides your quiet footsteps, yours and Silver's steady breathing.  Where did you two go in the dorm?
Thankfully, your question was answered.  Some hallways were blocked by thorns too thick for Silver to cut down, and without his pen, there was only so much you all could do.  The thorns seemed to lead you and Silver down a path until you eventually made it to the room you had met Malleus in.  The doors, which had previously been barred shut in your reality, were now open, one door looking as if it had been almost ripped off its hinges.
The air seemed to shimmer around you as you and Silver stepped in, the scene before you contorting into something almost cartoonish as if you were looking through a bubble.  You recognized the people in the room, but you struggled to make sense of the scene before your eyes.  Leona, Ruggie, and Jack all seemed to have confronted Malleus, the large phantom behind him reminiscent of a huge dragon.  Lilia and Sebek were somewhat in the middle between the Savanaclaw students and their dorm leader, trying to appeal to Malleus.  What was most jarring, though, was what was floating behind Malleus...
Floating on beds of thorns, were you and Silver, ensnared and glowing lightly.  You both looked so peaceful in your sleep, but when you looked closer you could see the trail of dried tears on your cheek, a light smudge of black on the corner of your lips.
Silver seemed frozen beside you, taking in the scene with a severity you had never seen on his face before now.
The others were talking, but you couldn't hear them.  It sounded distant and warbled, as if your ears were clogged with water.  It was a strain to even hear them, let alone try and make out what they were saying.  Likewise, reading lips was impossible with how the scene rippled like a disturbed pond, constantly moving the images.
Slowly, though, the phantom behind Malleus seemed to dissipate, his attire changing back to his normal Diasomnia form.  You and Silver had clearly arrived at the tail end of whatever confrontation had broken out as Lilia stepped forward to comfort Malleus.  From behind, yours and Silver's bodies ( god that was so weird to think about) were gently lowered to the crown, the thorns dissolving into thousands of green sparkles.
And yet, you still remained asleep, even as Jack ran towards you, catching you before you could hit the ground (not like you had plummeted to behind with, you had been let down so softly ).  You could barely hear him, but it didn't take a genius to guess he was calling out your name, trying to wake you up.
You looked beside you towards Silver, only to see him gone.  Glancing back at his body, you saw the way Lilia had gone over to him, kissing his forehead gently, seeming to break the curse that had caused him to sleep.
Why were you still asleep?  Malleus was brought back to his senses; why were you still cursed?
Jack had turned to Malleus in anger, and you could tell by the look on Leona's face, his ears pressed back, that he was also berating Malleus.  The fae in return had slowly gotten up and walked over to you, Jack seeming to hover over your body for a moment before stepping back.  His eyes didn't leave Malleus or you, but Malleus took no notice of him.  His attention was solely on you as he caressed your face, a thumb swiping over your lip to rid it of the black ink that had smudged when he kissed you earlier.
Malleus murmured something, but you couldn't hear it.  His grip on you tightened as he pulled you closer, and he stooped down, lips hovering over your own for a moment.  He hesitated to kiss you, before moving up slightly, lips pressing softly onto your forehead as if to coax you awake from the sleeping curse he had inflicted upon you.
The bubble you were in, watching this scene, suddenly popped.
Your eyes felt unbearably heavy when you woke up, squinting them closed more before struggling to open them.  You felt fatigued, your body drained as you looked up.  All you could see was Malleus, holding you close and looking relieved to the point of tears as you finally were freed from the curse he inflicted upon you.
When he spoke, he used your name, your true name and not 'Child of Man', and you found it hard to find yourself angry at him.  You were much too tired for anger, or any other spiteful emotion.
"We need to...  Talk," you slurred out to him, before sleep took you once more, body needing to recuperate from the magic.
When you next awoke, it was not in the arms of Malleus, but in the infirmary.  Sunlight filtered in brightly through the windows, and judging by the amount of small gifts and flowers littering the window sill (most gifts shoddily wrapped), you could safely assume you had been out for a decent amount of time.
You didn't wake alone.
Snoozing on your lap was Grimm, and when you shifted he immediately bolted up, eyes wide as he noticed you were awake.
"MY HENCHMAN!"
Practically bawling, Grimm threw himself in your arms, and you immediately hugged him back.  Shushing him as you would a scared child, you glanced out the window, glad to see the sky was back to normal, no thorns to be seen.
After Grimm had finally let go, your day was filled with visitors from all sorts of dorms.  You had apparently been asleep for three days — three days as your body got much-needed rest from what it had been through.  The rest had caused you to feel rejuvenated, if not a bit restless as you were forced to spend one more day in the infirmary.  Your friends had used this time to swing by, expressing well wishes and filling you in on everything you had missed.  Even Crowley had popped in, letting you know that everything was set for you to go home now should you wish to leave (which was very fun to explain to Grimm and the ADeuce duo, who had been in the room when Crowley decided to swing by).
Despite all of your visitors, though, Malleus never came.  It wasn't until late in the night, when Ace and Deuce managed to drag Grimm off, that Lilia had swung by your room by himself.  Despite his usual smile, the air felt somewhat heavy, and you spoke first, suddenly feeling tired once more at the conversation that was ahead of you.
"I didn't mean to hurt Malleus," you started, but Lilia shushed you.
"It is not your fault that he overblotted," he cut you off.  "In honesty...  It may have been brewing for a while.  As his guardian, I should have noticed the problem in his feelings, but instead I fed into them.  But please, do not hold this against him, either."
"I don't."  Your response was mindless and swift, but after taking a moment to think about it, you realized you really didn't hold it against him.  He hadn't been in his right mind, and while you perhaps were a bit frustrated with how everything had played out, anger wasn't one of the emotions you felt towards your friend.
Still, you wanted to talk it out.
Lilia had been speaking, but you hadn't truly been paying attention when you unapologetically cut him off.  "I want to talk to Malleus."  Realizing moments after how rude your interruption was, you could feel yourself flush.  "Er...  Please."  If anybody could convince Malleus to come see you, it'd probably be Lilia.  Sure enough, Lilia didn't take your interruption or you ignoring him to heart — he only gave you an enigmatic smile, patting you twice on the head before heading out to probably find his ward.
It was only a few moments before a couple of fireflies floated into the room, one landing on your nose and distracting you as the very man you had been waiting for all day appeared.  The firefly on your nose floated off, allowing you to give Malleus your undivided attention as he shifted in place, arms crossed.  He didn't meet your eyes for a moment, and you had to think — for somebody usually imposing, he seemed more reminiscent of a scolded child, or a pouty toddler.
You sighed.  You were just glad he had been pulled back to reality from his overblot.
"I'm not mad."
Finally, his gaze met yours, searching your face to see if you were lying.  When he didn't respond, you continued, leaning back in your bed.  "I'm...  A bit upset with how everything turned out.  I don't appreciate being put under a sleeping curse."  Your voice was stern, and you made sure to not break your gaze from Malleus.  "But..."  Your shoulders slumped.  "I can't find it in me to be mad at you."
"You should be," he murmured.  ". . . I hurt you."
He was right.  You should be; and while you weren't mad, it didn't mean your relationship with him could just easily bounce back to normal.  Overblot or not, he had broken your trust.  It would take time to recover that, time which you may not even have should you choose to go back and stay in your world.  You told him as much, wanting to be firm that, despite the lack of hostility, you did not condone what he did to you and Silver, watching as he seemed to slump slightly.  He didn't argue, though — chances were, Lilia had given him a similar lecture.
Still...
"Crowley found a way to keep the portal stable should I choose to go home," you started slowly, gauging his reaction.  "I don't have any magic, so I can't open it back up to come back, but if somebody were to open it on this end for me to allow me to come back..."  You trailed off, hoping for Malleus to catch the hint.
He did.  "Child of Man...  Are you saying you'd want to come back to this world?"
Did you?  You weren't entirely sure yet, but the thought of leaving your friends behind hurt, and you figured it may be better for you to visit here than to have them visit your world.  The thought of somebody like Malleus, or the Leech brothers, or even Ace in your world was enough to make you shudder at the chaos.  Best to not deal with that.
"At the very least, it'll be possible for me to travel between the two.  So I won't be gone forever."
"You'd want to come back, even after what happened?"
Even after I almost cursed you to sleep for a thousand years? He seemed to mean.
You leaned forward, gently grabbing his hand, calling out his name softly.  He watched you carefully, emerald eyes hopeful.  "I...  Care for you a lot, Malleus.  Of course, I care for my other friends greatly, but..."  You busied yourself with looking at your conjoined hands, watching as your fingers intertwined with his own.  "You hold a special place in my heart, even with what had happened.  I don't want to leave this world on such a dark note with you.  I want... To continue to spend more time with you."
Your voice cracked at the end of your confession, and Malleus had finally closed the distance, pulling you into him in a comforting hug.  You were still in bed, but he had sat down, practically pulling you into his lap as he held you close, your face buried in his chest.  Fingers stroked your head, and while you couldn't see Malleus' face, you could imagine the soft look on it that he often donned when around you.
"Even now, you're not afraid of me...  You're truly something else, my dearest Child of Man."  An amused huff left him — at least, you think he was amused.  "Truthfully...  I don't want to part with you, even for a moment.  If you'll allow me, I'll rebuild the trust between us.  I, too, care for you greatly."
Pulling back slightly, Malleus tilted your chin up to meet his gaze.  "I didn't ask back then, but I will ask now...  Can I kiss you?"
Once again, it was your name, and not his nickname for you, that left his lips. Heart fluttering, you could only nod, allowing him to tenderly place his lips upon your own, a kiss soft and sweet and conveying all the emotions neither of you had spoken out loud.  When you finally separated, you leaned your forehead against him once more, feeling somewhat tired from the long day of visitors and the heavy conversations.
Sensing your fatigue, Malleus once more stroked your head, holding you firm in his arms.  "Rest.  I'll stay right here."
Unlike before, when you had resisted sleep in Malleus' arms, knowing about the curse he had placed, you found yourself more willing to relax.  There was no curse, or overblot, or betrayal here.  It was just you and Malleus, and while you knew you'd need to rebuild that trust with him, for now, you felt safe in his arms.
And so, you allowed yourself to sleep once more.

It was a cold, rainy day. Though the rain was light enough to be called a shower, Vil still worried you’d be able to get sick. He seemed to be more worried about you, than himself. You tried to shake his worries off, however; it didn’t seem to work. Then, you had an idea. Though, you didn’t think it’d shrug off his worries completely, you thought it’d at least give a bit of reassurance. Besides, even if it didn’t work, it was still worth a try, right?
You gently pulled Vil further outside, intertwining your fingers together, as you enthusiastically held his hand. The rain fell on you, just as it was; like a gentle shower. Your hair was getting wet, so Vil, of course, couldn’t help but worry. You had a jacket on, and gave Vil your umbrella to hold, so he wouldn’t get wet. Even with a jacket on, still, you managed to get wet. You weren’t worried, though.
Locking your hands with his, you started to dance with him, then you started, “Vil. You needn’t worry, because you’re so angelic, that; even if I do fall sick, I would already feel so blessed with you there by my side. You’d be there with me, to take care of me, and you’d just…be there with me. You’re an angel who one day appeared to me. But, I’m sure that, with you by my side, I might not even get sick.”
You two stopped your moment in the rain. You were both laughing and smiling at each other, though Vil usually wasn’t a person prone to mistakes, he dropped the umbrella and while dancing, you both made quite a few mistakes. But it didn’t matter. Because the two of you were having fun, and with each other, at that. That’s what matters, even if you both did get quite a bit drenched while doing so, too.
The next few days, you both were miraculously, completely fine. “See? I told you,” you exclaimed, excitedly, as if it were a bet you had won. Still, you were both quite astonished. Maybe it was a miracle indeed, or perhaps, magic, even if you had none. You weren’t actually sure, but you were happy to have proven your point, and Vil’s worries were dispelled.

author's notes 2!: I also happen to not get sick in the rain, for some reason!! like I could just run around in the rain, and be perfectly fine, lol

The Sassy Lost Child from another World and the Usurper from the Wilds

Leona has formed a big brother/little sister relationship with the prefect, and decided it'd be a good idea to bring the child home over break, seeing as she is not a fan of being by herself for so long.
But it seems, she wasn't lying when she said she'd mouth off to the nobles and servants if they dared speak ill of him...
There was a banquet being held by the king of the Sunset Savannah.
Many come to enjoy it from far and wide!
Especially nobles who wish to be in the king's favor.
Leona hated special events like this with a burning passion.
Usually, he'd avoid going, and completely skip out on it, but his darling older brother insisted he went, and the prefect, whom he'd brought along with him, was eager as well, but would only go if he went.
Now they were stuck in some party the lion wanted no part in.
Shiba was hardly mingling with anyone, sticking to his side as if everyone else in the room was a monster.
Socializing wasn't her specialty.
Shiba had never really been to special events like this... Not often anyway..
She didn't know how to mingle.
The thought of talking to someone was... Scary..
Or someone wishing to talk to her...
By now, she was used to Falena and his wife, having gotten comfortable with them, as well as Kifaji.
Leona didn't mind the prefect staying with him.
He could tell she wanted to go off to a corner and be by herself. She'd most certainly need a recharge after this, just as much as he needed one.
The banquet lasted hours, going until late.
But even with all the laughter and reminiscing, Shiba did not miss the lours and dirty looks that some of the guests wore on their faces when Leona spoke, or walked by.
Their hushed whispers that no one else seemed to notice...
Shiba could hear them, and she'd tune into their conversations.
Leona could see how... Focused his not so little friend was.
"That's the second prince.." One of the nobles muttered.
"I hear he turns anything he touches to sand.." Another whispered.
Shiba eyed them, and decided to wait until the banquet was over to confront them.
They'd learn...
.
.
.
.
Just as the banquet ended, and everyone took their leave, Shiba found the two nobles who'd spoken out of turn and let it reach her ears.
They were alone in the hall, and quickly, she strayed away from Leona with a determined expression.
"So I hear you guys like to talk shit behind people's backs?" Shiba called.
Leona's eyes widened slightly when she wandered off just to say that, "Herbivore..!" He tried to call her back, but she did not listen.
What the hell was wrong with that girl!?
The two nobles she'd spoken to turned with a glare, meeting her gaze, "Oh? And who might you be?" One of them asked.
"Who I am is absolutely none of your business. I wanna know who the hell you think you are, talking about Leona as if he were lesser or some sort of monster," Shiba spoke firmly, "and under your breath no less."
The two puff up with annoyance at her words, "You must be the child he brought in... You ought to learn some manners."
"And bitch, so what if I am? My parents taught me plenty of manners, but I was also taught to defend others from shit bags like you who don't have anything else to do with themselves but count money in their bed and wait to be robbed."
"Just who do you think you are!?"
"Ahhhh don't hit me with that shit! I heard everything you said about him, and you are no better than he is!" Shiba unleashed her sharp tongue.
She was so far in, Leona couldn't stop her, only being able to snicker at how she spoke to them so freely. The Noble's baffled faces made it even better to watch!
"You couldn't even say it to his face! Maybe if you weren't so focused on him, you'd notice the stick up your ass!" Shiba tore them apart, "Maybe go get that removed instead of throwing shade where you can't throw hands!"
By the end of it, the nobles were too stunned to speak, storming off with their tails between their legs.
"You said she was sixteen?" Falena's voice sounded off next to Leona, to which he nodded, "She is."
The king could only sigh, "She certainly has a sharp tongue for her age..."
"That she does." Leona smirked, as Shiba returned to him, huffing, "I can't believe those jerks! Who do they think they are!?"
Leona's hand pat the head of the prefect, "Calm down Herbivore. You already got them."
She was so much like a gremlin...
It was good to know that she'd do that for him though...
No one had ever come to his defense like that....
It felt.. endearing.
The End

when you first complained about wanting to pierce your ears, jade offered to do it for you. immediately, you shot him down. it would be stupid of you to accept an offer from jade leech of all people to pierce your ears. the possibilities were endless. he could pierce the wrong part of your ear. he could end up making too big of a hole. he could make too small of a hole. you knew none of the staff would be impressed to see you walk in to the infirmary with your ears in dire need of first aid. however, you seemed to underestimate jade’s persuasive skills. that was your biggest and most costly oversight.
since, before you knew it, you were sitting in front of jade, after hours at monstro lounge, as he was readying himself to pierce your ears. “are you sure you can do this?” you nervously asked as you watched him slip a pair of latex gloves on. at least he acted like a professional piercer.
“i have told you, i’ve done this many times. you have nothing to worry about,” jade spoke as he inspected some of the trinkets that were there to pierce your ears.
“define many,” you asked.
“myself, of course. floyd as well,” he seemed rather proud by this. however what he claimed to be many, wasn’t many. that was certainly not reassuring to hear. “now, can you please stop perspiring. what if your sweat makes my hand slip and pierce the wrong place?”
you froze, wiping the sweat off your face and away from your hairline. “you know what, maybe i’ll just wait to get a professional-”
“i am one. would you like to see my certificate?” jade asked, setting down the needle.
you paused for a moment. sometimes, it was hard to tell if jade was serious or not. squinting at him, you spoke, “do you really have one?”
“no, i just thought that it would make you feel better if you thought i did,” jade said before he took a marker and begun trying to figure out where to pierce each ear. “i will not do anything bad, you have my word.” now that was more reassuring.
“what if something goes wrong?” you mumbled, trying to stay still while he marks with two little dots where he is going to pierce your ears.
“that’s simple, it won’t,” he was rather confident in his piercing abilities. although you haven’t seen him in action, it was certainly comforting to hear his confidence remain fixed, despite the fact that you’ve continuously questioned his abilities ever since he offered to do this for you. although, an offer makes it sound like it was free. even though jade didn’t name a price, you knew it came with one that you would find out soon enough.
“i don’t think i’ve ever seen you this concentrated,” you tried hard not to make eye contact as he was very close to your face, still attempting to make the dots symmetrical. jade was completely and utterly fixated on the task at hand. his eyebrows were slightly furrowed and he seemed to bite the inside of his cheek in frustration. every now and then he would gently grasp your chin, moving your head around to make sure he’s gotten it right. that made it difficult to avoid eye contact and whenever your eyes would accidentally lock onto his, jade would let out a low chuckle. that chuckle sent heat straight to your face, but you tried to ignore it.
once he was satisfied, he breathed out a long sigh. “this is your last chance to back out. are you going to take it or should i get started?” he picked up the needle, raising a brow at you expectantly.
“just get over with it,” you told him. in response, he nodded. when positioning himself at a different angle, one that would aid him in getting the needle through your right ear, he leaned in close.
“if it’s too much pain, it doesn’t matter to me what you do. just don’t move,” jade advised you. you hummed in response to let him know that you had heard him.
“wait, are you going to do a countdown or something- ow!” you yelped as you felt the needle poke through your earlobe. although it didn’t hurt as much as you thought it would, jade had caught you off guard which caused you to let out that yelp.
“oh no,” jade said.
“jade? what do you mean, oh no?” you tried to glance at him through your peripheral vision but failed. what did he mean by oh no? had something went wrong? you felt another pinch at your right ear and winced in response. “jade?!” you heard him suck in a breath. “why oh no?!”
“i’m sincerely sorry.”
“what happened? what do you mean??” you felt yourself become increasingly more nervous, enraged, and confused. what had happened to make jade respond like this? did he truly mess up that badly?
“it’s best you don’t know. now, onto your left ear,” jade grinned.
“no way am i going to let that happen! what’d you do to my first ear?”
“what are you guys doing here still?” azul walked out of his office, clearly annoyed by the ruckus being caused outside of it. “jade, why do you have a needle in your hand. and you, why are you screaming?”
“azul!” you ran to him. “does my ear look okay?” you turned to show him your right ear. azul shot jade a look of bewilderment.
“yes, it looks fine,” he spoke. “did you always have an earring on this side?”
turning around, you glared at jade who seemed to be chuckling to himself. of course, he had been joking about ruining your piercing. that should’ve seemed obvious from the start. after jade explained what you two were doing, azul looked at you both with amusement before retreating back into his office. however, before that, he had forced you two to promise not to do anything reckless and if you ended up needing to go to the infirmary, you had to say the injury was sustained in anywhere but the monstro lounge. once agreeing, you sat back down in front of jade, burning holes into him from your harsh scowl.
“remind me to never let you give me a piercing again,” you mumbled, arms crossed as jade moved around to your left side.
“who else will i practice on?” he frowned.
“azul, i’m sure he’d appreciate it!” you sarcastically stated.
“if i ever came near azul with a needle, no matter what the reason was, he would make me pay,” jade said.
“next time, i’ll take a page from azul’s book then,” you grumbled. “and, this time can you countdown? it’s really annoying-” then once again, while you were unready, jade stuck the needle through your left ear. it hurt much less than the first time. “if you were an actual piercer, i would give you a one-star rating for this!” jade only smiled in response. next, you felt another pinch which you assumed was the earring going through the new hole.
once finished, jade moved to face you directly. he nodded, seeming proud of the job he had done before he pulled out his phone, passing it to you so you could see yourself using the camera. to your surprise, your earrings were very evenly placed at the same level, in the middle of your earlobe. there was no blood and although your ears were red, that would fade over time. you smiled at the topaz and silver earrings which jade had insisted on.
“thank you, jade. they look really nice!” you exclaimed.
“you’re welcome. now, for my pay, i’ll be calling upon you for a favour within the next few days, so don’t forget,” he spoke, pulling off his latex gloves. he begun to clean up his makeshift piercing station.
the fact that you had to pay jade back with a favour was probably more terrifying than the fact that jade was the person who pierced your ears. if you were to tell any of your friends this, surely they’ll boo at you for making such a stupid decision but in your defense, he was excellent at piercing ears.

Summary:
Jamil has a peaceful and quiet birthday for once, and he learns that Azul is responsible for it.
However, the merman himself did not attend. Bothered by his absence, Jamil decides to seek him out.

Author's Note:
This time last year, Jamil got kidnapped by S.T.Y.X., and now he's been put to sleep by Malleus. I wrote this because Jamil deserves to have a peaceful birthday~
Thank you to @patchyegg87 for helping me with this! <3
Happy birthday, Jamil! ^_^
——
"Alright, let's go!" Ace said when he got out of Sam's shop with a bag full of snacks.
"Lead the way, birthday boy," Ruggie told Jamil, carrying a cooler in one hand and a picnic basket in the other.
"And you're sure there isn't an elaborate surprise party waiting for us at Scarabia?" Jamil asked skeptically as they made their way to the Hall of Mirrors.
Kalim threw parties spontaneously even on regular days, Jamil found it hard to believe that he wouldn't see today as an excuse to throw another one.
"You asked that three times already," Ace complained. "Like we said, we'll just be having a chill picnic at the oasis and maybe swim around if the water isn't too cold."
"Yeah, man," Ruggie said. "Just you, me, Ace, and—"
"Sea Snake!" Floyd ran up to Jamil and hugged him tightly from the side. "Happy birthday~!"
"Of course," Jamil muttered, stuck in Floyd's grip.
"It's party time!" Floyd said after letting him go.
"Why're you carrying that big backpack?" Ruggie asked.
"It's full o' clothes and shifting potions," Floyd pat the bag. "I'm gonna go swimming in my merform!"
"Eh, why not?" Ace shrugged as they continued their walk.
Meanwhile, Jamil's eyes had been scanning the surroundings, seeing if anyone else would be joining their little group.
Whenever Floyd appeared at the parties that Kalim threw, it usually meant that two other Octavinelles were close by.
"Floyd," Jamil began.
"Yeah?" Floyd turned to him.
Where's Azul? "Don't you have a shift at Mostro Lounge today?" Jamil asked instead. "Saturdays are pretty busy there, right?"
"Yeah, but today's my day off!" Floyd grinned. "Cool, right?"
But your boss didn't give himself the day off? "Yeah," Jamil said, his eyes still looking around.
As his friends continued their chitchat, Jamil subtly shook his head in an attempt to clear it.
So what if Azul showed up to almost every single one of Kalim's parties but couldn't be bothered to show up today for his birthday? No sense in thinking about people who weren't present.
They reached the Hall of Mirrors, and Jamil refocused his attention and led them into Scarabia.
"So there's really no one else coming to this thing?" Jamil asked when they reached the deserted oasis.
"Nope," Ruggie said. "I get why you're suspicious, but it's really just us."
"You're too paranoid, man," Ace said as they began setting up the picnic blanket under the shade of a big palm tree. "You gotta relax!"
"Were you hopin' there'd be someone else, Sea Snake?" Floyd smirked at him.
"No," Jamil frowned. "I was just making sure."
Floyd snickered and walked over to look at the water, not helping them set up at all.
Jamil sighed internally. Kalim had thrown a surprise party for him every year since they were children, always with about a hundred guests that Jamil barely knew.
Today he had been expecting surprise guests as well, perhaps a certain merman with glasses that drew attention to his blue eyes, and a smile that was too perfect to be sincere. Jamil almost believed that he'd be waiting at the oasis for them with that smile, smug about having tricked Jamil into thinking that there were really no other guests.
That's fine. It's not like Jamil wanted him to be here, anyway. He just got so used to Azul showing up uninvited that it's a little weird not having him around.
"Jamil?" Ruggie called his attention.
"Huh?" Jamil said distractedly.
"I said pass me the cooler, over there," he pointed to Jamil's right.
"Oh, sorry," Jamil muttered, a little embarrassed, and handed the cooler to Ruggie.
"Where's your head at?" Ace raised an eyebrow.
"I'm just worried about Kalim," Jamil instinctively said, picking the most believable lie he thought of. "Are you guys sure he's okay with not being here even though he's the one who planned it?"
"Yup, he said he didn't want you to think of having to be a servant and stuff like that," Ace said, getting a bottle of fruit juice from the cooler that Ruggie had set in the sand outside the blanket.
"And we all know how capable Silver is," Ruggie added. "So there's nothing to worry about now that Kalim is hanging out with him."
Jamil nodded. "Yeah, you're right."
There was a big splash in the water, followed by a loud cheer from Floyd.
"The water's great!" he called out to them, neck-deep in the pool. "Come on in, Sea Snake!"
"Maybe later," Jamil said, bracing himself to be relentlessly pestered.
But Floyd simply said, "Okay!" and went back to his swimming.
Jamil exchanged surprised glances with Ace and Ruggie.
"I guess he's in a good mood…?" Ace said.
"Looks like it," Ruggie answered, unwrapping a sandwich and taking a big bite out of it. "I thought he'd start dragging us to the water."
Eventually Floyd came out of the pool and complained that he was hungry. Then he plopped himself right on the blanket despite his swimming shorts still dripping wet.
They chatted and bickered while they ate. Ruggie cooked all the food which meant everything was delicious, and they snacked on the chips and cookies that Ace bought at Sam's while they played cards and board games.
When the sun got too hot, all of them jumped in the water—Floyd turning into his merform mid-air and tearing his clothes in the process.
Afterwards they all just lay down on the sand, letting the late afternoon sun dry them.
It was when his friends had fallen asleep and everything was quiet that thoughts of Azul returned in Jamil's mind.
The sun was hanging low in the sky, and Mostro Lounge was probably packed. Knowing Azul, he'd be in the kitchen helping cook the orders, and maybe waiting tables too if it's a particularly busy day. Just yesterday he actually fell asleep in the library while he and Jamil were doing research for Alchemy. Jamil had planned to let him sleep for however long it took, but he woke up after 10 minutes and profusely apologized, explaining that he had been working late for days already.
People say that Jamil works too hard, that's why his friends had insisted that they have a low-key celebration today where they can all just hang out and have fun. But he could argue that Azul works just as hard, and the Octavinelle Prefect could have really benefited from a day of relaxation if he had just showed up today.
Jamil closed his eyes. It seemed that no matter what he tried to do, Azul would just keep surfacing in his mind.
Now he felt irritated. If Azul had joined them today, he wouldn't be having this problem. Azul would make a remark about how he and Jamil should be on the same team in the games because they work so well together, and Jamil would roll his eyes but not disagree. That was how they always were.
But not today, apparently.
Jamil cursed. Was he actually missing Azul? Ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous. Water must have gotten in his ears and reached his brain while he was swimming earlier.
He got up and brushed sand off himself. He might as well start cleaning up.
Jamil was walking his friends to the mirror portal as the sun began to set.
"Who's cooking dinner at Savanaclaw if you're here?" Ace asked Ruggie.
"Jack volunteered, along with some other sophomores," Ruggie answered, then turned to Jamil. "You're not on dinner duty tonight either, right?"
"Yeah, Kalim told some upperclassmen that they're in charge of dinner tonight, which they didn't seem to mind," Jamil said.
"Ooh, then does that mean we can all stay here longer and keep the party going?" Floyd asked. "We can play basketball! You have a ball here, Sea Snake, right?"
"Hell no," Ace said. "I can't be late for dinner. Especially since Trey is baking a new cake recipe tonight. Prefect might blow a fuse if I show up late."
"And I still got other chores to do at Savanaclaw," Ruggie added.
"Aww, alrighty, next time," Floyd shrugged.
Ace gaped in disbelief. "Really? That's it? You've been reasonable the entire day, it's kinda scary."
"Don't question it, he might change his mind," Ruggie snickered.
"I made a deal with Azul," Floyd said indifferently as they reached the mirror portal. "He said I could take the entire weekend off if I'm on my 'best behavior' today," he made air quotes with his fingers.
"What?" Jamil frowned in confusion. "Why would he do that?"
Floyd raised an eyebrow at him, and Ace and Ruggie exchanged glances, but none of them answered his question.
"Wow, I thought you were smart, Sea Snake. Byeeee!" Floyd waved at them cheerily then stepped through the mirror.
"What does that mean?" Jamil turned to the other two.
Ace just snickered.
Ruggie sighed and stepped forward to the portal, patting Jamil on the shoulder as he walked past. "Today was fun. Happy birthday again, Jamil. Y'all got a pretty cool oasis." He disappeared through the mirror.
"Gotta go, can't miss dinner, bye Jamil!" Ace jogged to the portal and stepped through.
Jamil's frown deepened. Looks like he'd have to pay Azul a visit tomorrow.
Soft jazz music poured out of the glass doors as Jamil pushed them open. He waited until after peak lunch hours before going to Mostro Lounge, he didn't want to get in the way of their work.
"Jamil," Jade greets him pleasantly. "Are you here to dine?"
"Um, no. Is Azul here?" Jamil asked.
Something seemed to twinkle in Jade's eye at that. "He's in his office. You can go right in."
Jamil nodded. "Thanks."
He made his way to Azul's office and knocked three times.
"Come in," Azul's voice says.
Jamil took a breath and opened the door. He just wanted answers, that's all.
"Hey," he said as he closed the door behind him.
"Jamil?" Azul said in surprise from behind his desk. "What brings you here?"
"Um…" Jamil shifted on his feet, suddenly unsure.
"Ah, apologies, I've forgotten my manners. Have a seat, please," Azul stood up and gestured to the couches facing each other in front of his desk. He walked over to one of them and took a seat. Jamil sat on the couch across from him.
"Floyd said you made a deal with him so he won't be annoying at my birthday party," Jamil said before he could hesitate again.
Azul looked caught off-guard, but he recovered and smiled his usual smile. "Yes, I did. I heard that Kalim invited him, and I thought I might as well suggest that he behave himself."
"You heard?" Jamil raised an eyebrow. "Kalim told me this morning that he went to you for help in planning the party, and the whole thing was your idea. You even told Kalim to hang out with Silver instead."
It was all too easy to get answers out of Kalim. Jamil just casually brought up the party and said he was impressed that Kalim planned it like that. Kalim immediately gave credit to Azul, saying that he seemed to understand Jamil the most, so Kalim asked him for help about what Jamil would like for his party.
Azul chuckled and adjusted his glasses, averting his eyes for a moment. "Yes. Kalim came to me for help, and I merely pointed out that you might prefer a quiet celebration rather than a grand one. And he always did like spending time with Silver, didn't he? "
"What favor is Kalim giving you in exchange for that help?" Jamil knew that Azul wouldn't just do that for free.
"Mostro Lounge would be catering the next two parties that he would be hosting," Azul said in his businesslike tone.
"And me? Do I owe you now for all of that?" Jamil crosses his arms.
"Nonsense. Consider it a birthday gift." Azul smiled, and it was Jamil's turn to be caught off-guard when he saw that it actually looked sincere.
Jamil fiddled with the strings of his hoodie. "Couldn't bother to show up to the party that you planned, then?" he heard himself say.
Azul's eyes became guarded even as he maintained his smile. "Well, the idea was for your party to be stress-free. So naturally that meant my absence."
The bluntness of the words made Jamil fall silent. Azul had spoken playfully, but Jamil knew him well enough to recognize the hint of sadness in his tone. He really believed that he was a source of stress for Jamil.
Jamil wanted to say something, but what could he say? He understood why Azul would think that. How many times had he told the merman to leave him alone and insist to everyone that they weren't friends?
"... Is that all?" Azul prompted curiously when Jamil still wasn't saying anything.
Jamil was asking himself the same question. He got his answers, should he leave now?
But if Azul was already starting to distance himself from Jamil, then what's next? Would he also stop asking Jamil to partner up in Alchemy? Avoid him in Flight Class?
Jamil didn't like that thought one bit.
"Are you free today?" he blurted out.
Azul blinked at him, looking unsure if he heard the question correctly. "What?"
"I-I thought we should continue working on that Alchemy project," Jamil invented wildly, willing his hands to stop fidgeting. "Maybe we could use some bioluminescent plants, and aim to make some sort of illumination potion. You guys have those plants in Octavinelle, right?"
"Ah, yes," Azul nodded. "Do you have any specific plants in mind?"
Jamil racked his brain for names of aquatic plants. "Sea Stars. Or anything similar to that," he added, so Azul wouldn't just outright decline in case Octavinelle didn't have Sea Stars.
Azul furrowed his eyebrows. "We do have those, but as you know they can only be harvested by the light of the moon. I can gather them by myself tonight and hand them to you tomorrow, so you wouldn't have to be away from Scarabia in the evening."
"No, it's okay, I wouldn't feel comfortable not doing any of the work on harvesting. And someone else is cooking dinner at Scarabia tonight. We can continue the research in the library, and then go check the plants when it's night," Jamil said.
"Oh," Azul looked mildly surprised. "You want to go to the library now?" he looked at his watch.
"Yeah," Jamil kept his face neutral. Because you didn't show up to my stupid celebration so now you owe me a day's hangout.
"Hmm, alright," Azul stood up and arranged the papers on his desk in a neat stack. "I'm almost done with these, anyway." He turned to Jamil. "Shall we?"
Jamil nodded and stood up as well.
Despite it being an unplanned endeavor, they actually got a lot of work done in the library. Jamil had relaxed and it felt like just another normal day of doing homework together.
It seemed like only a few minutes had passed, but they looked at the windows and saw that it was evening already.
Azul led the way to Octavinelle, and they went down a corridor that had a sign by the entrance that said guests were only allowed in that area when accompanied by an Octavinelle resident for safety purposes.
The walls here were made of glass that continued onto the curved ceiling, showing the sea and aquatic life outside. Bioluminescent plants illuminated schools of fish passing by and corals of various colors, and the glow on the currents themselves made the place look almost ethereal.
Jamil slowly walked towards the breathtaking sight, tentatively reaching out and placing his hand on the cool glass.
"It's beautiful," he muttered. Maybe he'll add some underwater places to his itinerary once he graduates.
"It is," Azul replied.
Jamil turned to him and saw that he was looking at the water with a soft smile on his face.
"The ocean is as dangerous as it is beautiful," Azul continued. "Back in my hometown, we can't look at such sceneries without also worrying about predators that lurk just outside of the light. When I first got here, I was happy to know about this place. I used to go here frequently back then."
He looked at Jamil, still with a smile on his face. "Floyd can accompany you here if you ever wish to see this again. It's a rule that humans should always be accompanied by a merman in case there's a leak somehow and it begins to flood. Jade is a bit busier than Floyd but I believe he could also make time to take you here if you asked."
Jamil furrowed his eyebrows. "Why Jade or Floyd?" Why not you?
"Oh, I merely thought that you're most familiar with the two of them. Do you have any other friends from Octavinelle?" Azul asked curiously.
"Yeah, you," Jamil said bluntly, meeting Azul's gaze.
Azul looked genuinely surprised, and he let out a nervous chuckle. "There is no need for empty flattery. I'll help you gather the Sea Stars either way, you know. Come along."
He started to walk down the hall again, but Jamil caught him by the arm and stopped him.
"Why don't you believe we're friends?" Jamil scowled. He knew that his tone wasn't friendly at all, but something about Azul basically saying that they're only classmates had irritated him.
Azul looked taken aback at his outburst. Then he frowned and yanked his arm from Jamil's grip. "You're asking me that? Aren't you the one always telling me to leave you alone and to shut up whenever I ask you to work with me at Mostro Lounge? You're never happy to see me and yet you want me to believe that you think of me as a friend?"
Azul's voice had risen, and now he averted his eyes as he straightened and took a deep breath to recover himself, wearing once more his facade of a composed Prefect.
"It doesn't matter," he said in a level voice, keeping his eyes on the exit at the other end of the corridor. "Let's just get the plants."
He strode off before Jamil could say anything.
Jamil followed, dreading the words that he knew he would have to say if he didn't want Azul to keep getting farther away from him.
He climbed the stairs that led to the surface and stepped out on a beach softly lit by several glowing plants serving as torches along the exterior walls of the dorm.
Azul was standing near the water, hands in his pockets and head tilted towards the sky.
"It's cloudy," he said when he heard Jamil approach. "We'll have to wait for the moon to appear before we can harvest the Sea Stars."
"I never mean it, you know," Jamil mumbled.
"What?" Azul looked at him, frowning in confusion.
Jamil willed himself to meet Azul's gaze. "I never mean it when I tell you to leave me alone."
Azul's eyes softened in surprise.
"And I didn't wanna work with you at the Lounge because who knew what ulterior motives you had? I didn't know if I could trust you. You don't exactly have a wholesome reputation," Jamil pointed out.
Azul raised an eyebrow at him. "So you're saying we're friends because you can't trust me? Rather counterintuitive, don't you think?"
"That's not what I'm saying," Jamil huffed in exasperation. "I…" he sighed. "We've worked together on a lot of projects. You trust me to help you in Flight Class, and you've been to Scarabia so many times at this point. If you really wanted to harm me or Kalim, you would have done it already. I'm saying I trust you, and we're friends, okay?" he glared to mask the embarrassment he was feeling at saying such things out loud.
Azul had tensed up and his eyes looked cautious. "Why are you telling me this?"
"Because I wanted you to come to my party!" Jamil snapped, then promptly averted his eyes as he felt his face warm. "I was hoping you'd be there but you weren't," he mumbled.
He turned his back and pulled up his hoodie, wondering whether he should just get back to Scarabia before he said anything stupid.
"I didn't know…" Azul said quietly.
"Yeah, well…" Jamil pouted under the cover of his hoodie.
Azul cleared his throat. "It looks like it could be a while before the moon comes out. We can sit here for now."
Jamil slowly turned to Azul, gauging his expression.
The merman was sitting cross-legged on the sand, gazing out at the soft currents of the water glowing subtly from the plants below.
Jamil found himself staring at Azul's soft features. He wondered how many people got to see this side of him; Azul rarely just sat down and waited. Either way, the atmosphere between them was relaxed again.
"Do you ever swim out there?" Jamil asked curiously, putting down his hood and sitting beside Azul.
"Every ten days, when I have to return to my merform before taking another dose of the shifting potion," Azul replied. "That's mostly what the Octavinelle residents use this place for. Though I swim farther out before I shift."
"Do you need to be in deeper waters?" Jamil knew nothing about Azul's merform apart from Floyd's occasional remarks that his tentacles were chewy.
"Not exactly," Azul looked down momentarily, tapping his fingers on his knee. "... Apart from Jade and Floyd, no one here at NRC has ever seen my merform. And I intend to keep it that way."
Jamil furrowed his eyebrows.  "Why? Don't you like your merform?" It didn't fit with Azul's usual air of confidence.
"Nobody likes my merform," Azul smiled mirthlessly. "Mermen's tails are colorful, and eels' tails let them swim incredibly fast. My long black tentacles are neither. I'd rather not have my residents be put off by their Prefect's true form."
Jamil fell into thoughtful silence. Clearly Azul had some unpleasant experiences back at his hometown, but Jamil didn't want to pry.
"Screw them," he said instead. "You're one of the most talented mages here, and you're a responsible Prefect. If they'll lose respect for you just because of your merform, they're idiots and you should be put off by them."
Azul looked at him with raised eyebrows. "Do you compliment all your friends like this?"
"Shut up," Jamil bumped his shoulder against him.
The laugh that bubbled out of Azul made Jamil smile, a warm feeling blooming in his chest.
Their eyes met, and Azul's gaze softened. "... I'm sorry I didn't go to your party. I really had no idea you wanted me to."
The warmth in Jamil's chest rose to his cheeks. "Hm. Why do you think I asked you to hang out today?"
Azul looked caught off-guard. "What?"
"I figured you owed me for skipping out on my celebration," Jamil said playfully, finding it much easier to tell the truth when looking into Azul's eyes.
"Was this all a ruse, then?" Azul asked in amusement. "Are we even really going to use the Sea Stars for our project?"
Jamil shrugged. "Yeah, why not? We figured out some pretty good plans earlier at the library."
Azul chuckled and shook his head, looking at the water again. "Looks like you finally agree that we make a good team."
"I've always known that," Jamil said, watching the water's surface ripple from a particularly strong breeze.
Apparently Octavinelle could get really cold, even more than the cold nights at Scarabia. Jamil rubbed his arms, wishing he had worn something else other than this sleeveless hoodie.
Then he felt something drape over him. He turned in surprise to see that Azul had given him his coat.
"Can't have you catching hypothermia now," Azul said, placing it around Jamil's shoulders.
The scent of Azul's cologne made his stomach flutter, and his breath caught in his throat.
Azul's close proximity was making Jamil's imagination run wild. A feeling that he never dared name was resurfacing in his chest, the same feeling that he always squashed down every time their fingers brushed during Alchemy, or whenever Azul smiled at him in the way that he never smiled at anyone else.
Then Azul let go of the coat and faced the water again, looking up at the sky. "The clouds are dissipating. We should be able to get the Sea Stars soon."
Jamil took a breath to steel himself. If they left this place without him giving it a shot, who knew when else he'd have the courage to?
He glanced at Azul's hand resting on the sand. Slowly, he inched his own hand closer, fighting his own nervousness with logic by mentally listing down reasons why it would be the right move.
1. Two days ago at Alchemy, they both reached for a flask at the same time, and Jamil's hand ended up on top of Azul's. Jamil had flushed and he retracted his hand immediately and mumbled an apology to Azul, only to see that the merman's face had turned pink and was averting his eyes.
Jamil continued to move his hand closer.
2. Azul Ashengrotto never did anything for free. He certainly wouldn't go through the trouble of convincing Kalim to not throw a big party and then allow Floyd to be absent from the Lounge on their busiest days as a gift.
Their hands were only a few inches apart now.
Jamil looked at the water, too nervous to keep his eyes on what he was trying to do.
3. Everyone knew that the Octavinelle Prefect was near-inseparable from his coat. Even when he took it off during warmer days, it never left his person. He never let anyone else handle it, let alone borrow it.
Jamil's pinky touched Azul's, and he froze, waiting for Azul to move away.
He had misread the signals. Azul was gonna ask him what the hell did he think he was doing. He was going to get kicked out of Octavinelle. He'd work alone on—
Azul's pinky curled over Jamil's.
Jamil could only hear the soft waves of the sea and his own heartbeat thundering in his chest.
He swallowed. Then he lifted his hand and placed it on top of Azul's, curving his palm and holding Azul properly.
He could see in his periphery that Azul had turned to face him in surprise.
Jamil met Azul's gaze, seeing that he looked just as flushed as Jamil felt.
"Azul, I…" the words left him as he stared in Azul's sky blue eyes.
The glow of the plants around them softly bathed Azul's fair skin, and moonlight made his hair a shining silver.
Something nagged in the back of Jamil's mind about the moonlight being important, they had been waiting for it, right? But now he couldn't remember why, and he couldn't care less.
Jamil slowly reached up and brushed a lock of hair from Azul's forehead, and his cheeks turned a brighter red.
"I want you to be there for my every birthday…" Jamil whispered, afraid to speak louder and break whatever spell held them now.
Azul opened his mouth to speak, but no sound came out.
"I want…" Jamil struggled to form words himself. Words didn't seem enough to express what he had been feeling for a long time now, the bright warm sun inside him that demanded to rise no matter how much he insisted to remain in the night.
"I want you," he gasped out, looking into Azul's eyes and hoping so badly that he would understand.
For a moment Azul just gazed back at him, the air thick with unspoken words and withheld touches.
Then Azul surged forward and captured Jamil's lips in his.
Jamil's arms moved on their own and wrapped themselves around Azul's neck, pulling him closer.
Their legs and knees were in the way, and in his frustration Jamil leaned forward as far as he could.
Azul fell on his back with a soft grunt, landing on the sand with Jamil on top of him.
The kiss broke only for a moment, then their lips sought each other again, Azul running his hands along Jamil's back.
Azul's coat had fallen off Jamil from all of their moving, but Jamil wasn't cold anymore. The sun was blazing inside him, and Azul was a refreshing drink of water on a hot desert day.
Jamil reached out with his tongue, and Azul met him eagerly. A groan escaped Jamil's throat as their tongues stroked and caressed each other, intertwining in a most delicate dance that Jamil couldn't get enough of.
Azul's hands roamed up to the nape of Jamil's neck, but he brought them down to clench in his shirt instead.
Through the pleasant static in Jamil's mind, he sensed that Azul was holding back somehow.
As Azul kept his hands noticeably still, the gears clicked into place and Jamil realized that of course Azul knew all about his culture.
"Azul…" Jamil pulled away slightly, catching his breath first. "You can touch my hair."
Azul looked up at him in disbelief. "Are you sure?"
Jamil nodded, caressing Azul's cheek. Touching someone else's hair was an act of intimacy in their culture, and certainly not to be done without express permission. The fact that Azul remembered such a thing even in the heat of the moment made Jamil all the more comfortable.
"I'm sure," he said softly, placing a gentle kiss on Azul's lips.
Azul sighed contentedly against him, slowly sliding a hand up to his hair, fingers threading into the soft strands.
Jamil shivered at the contact, glad that he chose to wear a loose braid today.
The heat around them was building again, and Azul rolled them over so that Jamil's back was pressed against the sand.
"Is this okay?" Azul whispered between kisses.
"Yes," Jamil breathed, his face warming at the sight of Azul looming over him, their lips and bodies pressing together.
Jamil had lost all sense of time. He explored Azul's mouth with a fervor, digging his nails into the small of Azul's back and swallowing the sound he made like a man starved.
Azul kissed him with a desire that so mirrored his own, and Jamil couldn't believe they had waited so long to do this.
After an endless amount of time of shaky breaths and soft sighs, they finally pulled apart, flushed and panting.
Azul gently rested his forehead against Jamil's as he caught his breath, and Jamil cupped his cheek, running his thumb across the smooth skin.
"Jamil…" Azul pulled away a little and looked at him questioningly. "What does this make us?"
"Definitely not just friends, I can tell you that," Jamil said, still feeling the high of it all.
Azul chuckled, and they both sat up again, their hands reaching for each other and their fingers entwining.
"Azul, do you…" Jamil looked down at their linked hands, feeling his face warm. He made himself meet Azul's gaze again. "Do you wanna be my boyfriend?"
Azul's lips turned up in a smile, and he squeezed Jamil's hand. "I thought you'd never ask. Of course I do. Good thing you actually told me this time, instead of just assuming I'd know like with the whole 'friend' situation," he said playfully.
Jamil grinned. "I wanted to be sure you won't be making out with anyone else on this beach."
"I won't be making out with anyone else at all," Azul assured him with fond amusement. A particularly strong breeze ruffled his hair, and he looked over at the clear sky. "Ah, shall I get those Sea Stars now?" He got up and brushed sand from his clothes.
"Yeah, let me help," he nodded and stood up with Azul.
"They grow farther out in the water, I can get them myself." Azul said. "And then you can be the one to dry and store them for our class tomorrow. Does that sound good?" He removed his cummerbund and placed it on the sand, then he started rolling up his sleeves.
"Uh…" Jamil felt caught off-guard by Azul suddenly removing an article of clothing and exposing more of his skin. He cleared his throat and turned to the water. "Sure."
Azul removed his shoes and socks, then dove smoothly into the water.
Jamil watched him swim several feet away and under, where a cluster of star-shaped glowing plants grew.
He got so used to Floyd changing into his merform whenever he went into water that he wondered why Azul didn't do the same. Then he remembered what Azul had said earlier about it.
When Azul got back with an armful of plants, Jamil handed him his glasses.
"Oh, thank you," Azul wore them and began to tie the bunch of plants with seaweed.
His shirt clung to his wet skin, and Jamil found his eyes lingering on the lean structure of Azul's torso and arms.
"You know, I think you'd look good even in your merform," Jamil said casually.
"What?" Azul looked at him in surprise as he finished tying the seaweed.
"Yeah, why wouldn't you?" Jamil stepped closer to him. "You look beautiful in this form."
Azul's face turned pink and he averted his eyes. "You don't know what you're saying, Jamil."
"Hey," Jamil said gently, placing a hand on Azul's shoulder and tugging him to meet his gaze. He wanted Azul to see how sincere he was. "You don't have to show me your merform, but you don't have to hide it from me either, okay?"
Azul looked at him with hesitation in his eyes.
"If you can still like me even after seeing my Overblot form, then I'm pretty sure I'll still like you in your merform," Jamil said to lighten the mood.
Azul chuckled, his shoulders relaxing. "That's a fair point, I suppose. Will you be heading back to Scarabia now?" he asked, handing over the plants.
Jamil took them and thought for a moment. "Do you wanna come with me? They're probably done with dinner now, but I can cook us something. You can't go tracking water in there, though," he said playfully, gesturing at Azul's soaked clothes. "You gotta change first."
"Right now? You want to see me undress so soon?" Azul teased.
"No, I'm cooking you dinner first," Jamil quipped back.
Azul laughed, a carefree sound that made Jamil feel pleasantly warm inside.
And right there, on Octavinelle’s beach softly lit by glowing plants and a full moon, Jamil knew he had received a gift that was much better than any grand celebration.

Lovepotioned? Not!
Request for Anon: "do you think you could do something for Scarabia, and maybe Ruggie if you can fit him in there, where reader is very loving with them to the point where people think they've been love potion-ed and kinda question the boys because reader is usually pretty tame and calm but in reality reader just really down bad for their boyfriend?"
my google doc for this alone was 10 pages??? ne ways!! I had a lot of fun with this but oh my god the more i thought about this prompt I was like...this would probably be the most annoying rumor to have at a magical school yk?? like damn you think I can't pull?!? (I can't) you think I don't have rizz??!? (I don't)
Characters: Kalim Al-Asim, Jamil Viper, Ruggie Bucchi Established relationship, rumored hypnosis/non-consensual relationship, non-prefect reader, lovesick reader, and lovesick boys. Chapter 4 spoilers in Jamil's part. Long asf post
Kalim Al Asim
When it came to Kalim, you weren’t just the star in his sky, no, you were his entire galaxy. Likewise, if Kalim was a planet, well, he was your universe. It didn’t take long for people to notice the difference in your personality when you were with Kalim. Your usual calm, soothing, regal personality is a breath of fresh air compared to the scheming personalities of many of your contemporaries. Yet when Kalim was around, you were a lovesick puppy! Excited, doe-eyed, and clingy. When he was brought up in conversations with you it was even worse, suddenly a boring conversation became so much more exciting and you were singing praises all for Kalim!  It was…concerning to many to say the least. I mean people don’t change that much in a relationship, right?
It was Riddle, surprisingly, who first thought you might be under the control of some sort of potion. You were his fellow Equestrian club member, it was his sacred duty to free you of whatever control you were under so he quickly got to work on a potion that would reverse the effects of whatever magic you might be under. He worked diligently after all his duties were done and away from any of the rather nosy student body of NCR late into the night. He was out past his bedtime and his eyes grew heavy but he finished the potion and snuck into your own dorm to slip an invitation for tea under your door.
“They’ll be here soon,” Riddle mumbled to himself as straightened out the cups sitting on the table for the 10th time that afternoon. To give you the potion discreetly, he thought inviting you for tea would be perfect. He made sure that the recipe for the potion he chose was tasteless, odorless, and didn’t have any adverse effects on you or the hot temperature of the tea. Everything was perfect, of course, nothing less would come from the Queen.
“I’m not late, am I?”
Riddle turned to the source of the question with a polite smile, “No,” he glanced at the watch on his wrist, “In fact, you’re perfectly on time, Reader.” Riddle motioned you over and pulled out your seat, you bowed to the redhead before taking your seat. He poured your drinks and sat down quickly after that, no doubt that there was a rule about how long you must be seated after your guest you thought.
“I’m honored you invited me to tea, Riddle,” you smiled, “It’s been a while since we’ve hung out.”
Riddle agreed, “Both of us have been busy.”
You nodded, “Yes, midterms have been stressful, to say the least, but I know you’re doing amazing.”
“You flatter me too much,” Riddle took a sip of tea, he noted that you hadn’t taken a sip yet and chose his next words carefully,  “But you are busier than me, yes? I mean you’re in a thriving relationship right now. That must take a lot out of you.”
Your eyes sparkled at the mention of your relationship, “Kalim is an amazing guy, I’m so lucky to have such a beautiful, kind love! Actually, I was with him before coming here. Honestly, Scarabia is my second home at this point! Hmm…but for what you said, being in a relationship doesn’t make me busier in any way, I just find ways to intermingle Kalim into my usual responsibilities!”
“Oh yes, you two are quite… inseparable.”
You laughed and continued your mini-rambling about Kalim. Riddle only mentally punched himself, noting that you still hadn’t touched your cup.
“...And I think I’ve helped Kalim with his grade just a bit while keeping mine up! Oh god, I’m rambling, aren’t I? I’m so sorry, I always get carried away talking about him, I do really love him a lot!” You finish, taking a long swing of your tea and Riddle celebrates a bit in his mind. It was about time, god.
“It’s fine, everyone can see how much you two care for each other,” Riddle gave you a polite smile, “Makes me hope I can find someone for myself one day.”
By the end of your tea with Riddle, Kalim somehow didn’t come up anymore and you were back to your calm nature. You thanked Riddle for the afternoon tea and rushed off, saying that you had some dorm activities to take care of. Riddle smiled to himself, you were back to normal right? So that meant you were actually under a spell, huh?
“It’s too early to celebrate, Riddle!” Riddle was speaking aloud to himself as he cleaned up, “The book I got the potion recipe from said it could be anywhere from ten minutes to 24 hours to take full effect so I’ll reach out to them again in two days…just to be sure!”
Riddle heard you and Kalim before he saw you two and he knew that the potion didn’t work. You both were loud, giggling in the school’s courtyard during lunch.
“Hey, I was gonna eat that!” Kalim whined, loudly, “Sweetheart~! Gimme a piece…sunshine, please!”
“Beg a bit more, handsome~!”
Riddle mentally punched himself for doubting how much you truly loved Kalim. I mean, why would Kalim even use a spell to make you fall in love? It was nothing like him! Doubting his fellow classmate and house warden was so unbecoming!
“You look perplexed.”
Riddle nearly jumped two feet in the air and turned to whoever spooked him, “J-Jamil, at least warn someone when you’re gonna talk! Honestly, you nearly scared me half to death. Have you no manners?”
“I could ask you the same thing, eavesdropping on Kalim and Reader like this,” Jamil said, expression unchanging.
Riddle cleared his throat and tried to come up with a convincing lie, “I was just…jealous of how in love they were, that’s all.”
Jamil shook his head, “It’s hard to believe to most, I’ve noticed. Even some go as far as saying Reader is under some spell.”
Riddle fidgeted a bit and Jamil continued, taking notice of Riddle’s slight change in demeanor, “I asked them about it once actually, they’re very aware of what people think. They told me that being with Kalim gave them a kind of peace that they haven’t felt in a long time where they felt they could shed any layers that had been built and just exist. A nonjudgemental, radiating love that’s the type of love they receive from Kalim. One that’s their haven.”
An understanding of your relationship finally reached Riddle and he smiled softly,  “That’s…lovely. Thank you for telling me, Jamil.”
Riddle walked off and sighed. Not only did he reach an understanding of your relationship but he reached an understanding of his own—his thoughts on love or rather preconceptions of what love can look like are completely wrong.
“Perhaps I am actually jealous…of love,” Riddle whispered to himself, “Yes, I think that’s quite right.”

Jamil Viper
Jamil knew all about the rumors that exacerbated his relationship with Reader, they were stupid, at least to him. The two of you got together long before your relationship went public, so why was it so unbelievable that you loved him as much as you did? That sweet, caring side of yours was for him and him alone. Isn’t it normal for people to act slightly differently around their significant others? Why was your change the talk of campus? More importantly, why was it so unbelievable that you could be that happy with him?! The scowl on Jamil’s face grew more and more as he thought about the rumors of him “lovepotioning” you.
You weren’t lovepotioned! You were just a damn simp!
A groan escaped his lips and his bad mood could be felt by anyone walking near the sophomore in the halls. Irritating, stupid, dumbasses—everyone at Night Raven, except you. Jamil couldn’t stand them. He made a sharp turn and arrived at his destination, his locker. Swiftly putting in the combination, the locker opened with a loud unintentional bang that echoed bringing almost every conversation in the hall to an abrupt stop and all attention to the vice house warden.
“What a downer,” some Heartslabyul student said, eyeing Jamil, talking just loud enough for him to hear, “I can’t believe Reader’s with that. No way it’s willingly.”
“Come on, man don’t say that! He could hear you, he’s right there,” another Heartslabyul  student said to his friend.
“There are rumors of him using some sort of spell on Reader,” A Pomefiore student spoke up next, “Such as love spells or potions.”
Jamil pretended not to hear the conversation behind him.
Don’t entertain stupid people, Jamil.
They’re not worth your time, Jamil.
That’s what he kept telling himself at least, as he urged his school supplies into his bag faster.
“Don’t care, I mean you’ve seen how the Reader gushes over him. It’s unnatural,” the student crossed their arms, “The love spell rumors have to be true. How does the usually silent, calm, oh-so-ever-popular, and cute barista of Monstro Lounge suddenly become a mindless simp for him! Besides, they could do so much better looks-wise. I mean I think Reader and I would look so much better together…”
A loud bang rang through the hall, intentional this time as Jamil slammed his locker shut, almost breaking the old, rusted hinges of it. The students who were talking about him stopped, knowing that this was their fault. An eerie silence was setting in the hall and once again Jamil knew all eyes were on him again.
Don’t entertain stupid people, it never ends well. His motto is, you should know. Yet in a moment, the silk-city native found himself in front of the group of gossips. Why? He didn’t know. Maybe he simply had enough. With an icy glare and venom dripping off his tongue, he spoke, “Care to say all that to me directly?”
The students shook their heads quickly and started stuttering out excuses.
Jamil clicked his tongue and walked off, he wasn’t a jester meant to entertain after all.
If God didn’t like Jamil Viper, he could have said that. First, the interaction in the hall, and now here he was standing in Azul’s VIP room. Tweedledee and Tweedledum, Jamil’s mental nicknames for the Leech twins, stood on opposite sides of their boss's desk. A cold and calculated smile from Tweedledee contrasted Tweedledum’s almost crazed look and Azul, of course, sat and smiled at Jamil.
Jamil wanted to run off or kill them, but he wasn’t sure which yet.
How did he wind up here exactly? He just wanted to see you, his love, and the only thing keeping him sane at this point but as fate would have it before he could make it to the post that you worked in the lounge today, he was hauled here by the devil’s twin sons.
“Jamil, it’s always nice to see you,” Azul finally spoke, breaking the heavy silence of the room.
Jamil rolled his eyes, “Funny, I never find myself wanting to see you or them.”
“You wound me,” the Housewarden covered his heart as if in pain but the playful tint in his eyes contrasted the gesture, “And here I thought we had something special.”
“What do you want this time?”
It was Jade who spoke up next, “We know all about the rumors plaguing your relationship with Reader and wanted to clear them up.”
Floyd cracked his knuckles, “Starfishie is my favorite starfish so if you’re hurting ‘em, I’m gonna have to squeeze ya really tight. Better not be usin’ love potions and spells on ‘em!”
“You also think I used a love potion on them?” Jamil questioned, “You’ve got to be kidding.”
“Not exactly,” Azul said pushing up his glasses, “I mean you wouldn’t have to with your signature spell.”
The implication that he would use his signature spell on you was enough to make Jamil snap.
Through gritted teeth, the vice warden spoke, “Why would you think such a thing? Do you know how much worse that is than thinking I used a potion or some regular dumb spell?”
Azul’s smile faded, “You act as though you haven’t tried to use it already once to get your way.”
“And you act as though that ended well!” Jamil raised his voice, “As though you don’t know how I almost ruined my life.”
“Watch ya tone, sea snake,” Floyd began to walk toward Jamil but Azul’s hand going up swiftly stopped him.
“The love you have for Reader and the contempt…the hatred you had for Kalim are two sides of the same coin,” Jade spoke as smoothly as ever, “You would understand our worry if you were on our side looking in, would you not?”
“No, because I know how to mind my business, unlike other people at this godforsaken school!” Jamil spoke harshly but his thought was cut short by a knock at the door.
“Get the door, Floyd,” Azul commanded and Floyd did with no protest, glaring Jamil down as he passed him on the way. He swung the door open and revealed the annoyed form of you at the door.
“Starfishie!” Floyd’s mood seemed to perk up as he greeted you, ushering you in.
Jamil turned to face you, the scowl he had been sporting for his previous conversation hadn’t left yet. You walked over to him and clung onto his arm, pulling him close before speaking, “I wasn’t expecting you here, love.”
“I came to see you but Azul wanted to talk,” was all he replied.
You nodded and then turned to address Azul, “I just came to tell you that the business partner you were expecting is here and that I’ve already clocked out and done all the pre-closing I could for the evening and night shifts.”
“Thank you, Reader,” Azul continued, “Jade, Floyd, please go greet our guest.”
The two twins left and Jamil shifted a bit under your grip, you let go and spoke to him, “I’ll meet you up in my room, I have one more thing to talk to Azul about.”
Jamil nodded and kissed your cheek, without acknowledging Azul. He was thankful that he could leave, any more time in that room wouldn’t have ended well for him or for your boss. You watched your boyfriend leave, only being satisfied when you heard the click of the door meeting the lock and footsteps echoing away.
“I heard everything, Azul,” You said.
“I know, I wasn’t expecting anyone important here today,” Azul cleared his throat, “A clever lie, on your part.”
“I understand why you decided to question Jamil, I know the rumors surrounding our relationship but you took it too far. I love him and that shouldn’t be questioned by you or anyone. He didn’t need a love potion to have my heart, he had it before he even knew,” You turned to leave, “Besides, I asked him to be mine, not the other way around. If anything it would have been me to put a spell on him.”
As you left, the twins took your place inside Azul’s office. You gave them both an aggravated glance before heading to your room.
“I don’t like the look starfishie just gave me, do they know?” Floyd pouted, “Awww they’re not gonna let me squeeze ‘em for like a week now that they’re mad!”
Azul brushed off Floyd’s comments, “Make sure the rumors about Jamil and Reader stop completely, do whatever you like in order to make it happen.”
Jade bowed a bit, “Of course.”
Azul rolled his eyes and grabbed his pen from its holder, “It’s the least I can do, after all.”

Ruggie Bucchi
It wasn’t surprising that rumors always were popping up about your relationship with Ruggie. Ruggie wasn’t known to be trusting, even less so affectionate. Everyone knew that the unofficial vice house warden of Savanaclaw always puts himself first, others only came second and only when he knew he could get something out of it. Well, at least that’s how it was before you wormed your way into his heart. Ruggie looks out for both of you, thank you very much. But, combined with Ruggie’s usual self-preserving attitude and your 180 change when talking about the hyena beastmen everyone came up with a new convincing rumor that would ‘prove’ why you both were together.
He had used a love potion to make you fall in love with him! Duh!
Yet, even though this rumor was so persistent no one actually bothered to question either of you. I mean if someone truly thought you were “love potioned”, don’t you think someone would try to help you from your non-consensual love? Slip a cure into your drink? Question you? Question Ruggie?
No, seems like no one cared about you that much, or more like the right person hadn’t heard just yet.
Silver had just woken up after falling asleep in class, he cursed to himself about it and looked around. Most people were already gone but a few others stuck around, chatting amongst their friends. Silver ignored them and started gathering his stuff to leave.
“Have you heard about Reader?” A student near him spoke to their friend, “Heard that Ruggie lovepotioned them.”
Silver started gathering his stuff a bit slower.
“What? A love potion? Hmm, I guess it makes sense, I mean have you seen how they dote on Ruggie, it's so odd. And like, they only act like that around him or when talking about him!”
“Yeah, that’s why people think they’re lovepotioned,” The other student replied, “Anyways, I hope it's just a dumb rumor. Ruggie can be…questionable sometimes but I can’t imagine him doing something like that you know?”
Silver left the class with a bitter taste in his mouth. Was his friend really lovepotioned? Every rational thought in him said no but isn’t there a possibility? Before he knew it, he found himself confiding in his father about what he heard after class today.
“If they were truly lovepotioned, the only way to reverse those effects would be drinking an antidote,” Lilia explained, “Love potions are odd, most don’t work the way people think they do so it’s unlikely they’re actually under any effects.”
“So I shouldn’t worry?” Silver questioned.
“They’re odd,” Lilia explained again, “But then again this school is full of gifted youths who are often misguided, there’s a possibility. How about we create an antidote for this hypothetical love potion and you find a way to give it to them?”
Silver nodded, “If they’re not under the effects of anything, what would happen?”
“Nothing, everything would be the same and Reader would never know what they drank. You would have to slip it into a drink of theirs though.”
“Kalim’s throwing a party tomorrow, they should be there,” Silver bit his thumb, deep in thought, “I should be able to do it then.”
Lilia giggled, “Perfect! Well, let’s get to work shall we?”
Kalim’s parties were usually extravagant, but this one was particularly much. The whole school had to be here, no doubt. Scarabia’s dorm never felt so small as Silver shifted through the crowd, looking for you.
“Silver!”
His head turned towards a familiar voice and a smile rose to his face.
“Hey! You made it!” You greeted him with a small hug and Silver noted that you had a drink already in hand.
Well, that certainly made his job easier.
“Yeah, I wasn’t expecting this much though,” Silver glanced around, a lot of unfamiliar party-goers seemed to show up. He even caught a glimpse of Riddle and his Vice Warden coming in earlier. His thoughts then shifted, you were alone—Ruggie wasn’t around, “Where’s Ruggie?”
“Food tables,” You giggled, “I was heading over there soon but I didn’t want to lose one of the only seats still here.”
“I can sit here and you can go grab some stuff,” Silver offered.
“Great! Hold my drink, please, I’m gonna need both my hands and I will make sure to grab enough for my bestie!” You promised before handing over your drink and disappearing into the crowd.
Huh. This was going surprisingly well. Silver grabbed the small vial of the antidote out of his jacket pocket and slipped it into your drink. He waited for you before spotting both you and Ruggie with a surprising amount of food between the both of you.
“I'm back! Thanks, Silver,” you grabbed your drink back from the Diasomnia sophomore.
Silver nodded. You three shared the food amongst yourselves and hung out for the rest of the night. Silver noted how much you just seemed to love Ruggie, your whole demeanor was just different around him. There was a sparkle in your eyes only for him and you had a different air around you, love, Silver thought. The same was for Ruggie too, which the rumors didn’t note as much as they did your change.
Love was supposed to look like that, was it not? At least that’s what he thought and what he picked up through stories Lilia sometimes told about the various lovers he’s had throughout the ages. So unsurprisingly, after a week there wasn’t a change in your behavior. Of course, you weren’t lovepotioned but a pang of strong guilt wrapped around Silver for doubting Ruggie and, by extension you.
He had to come clean to you both about everything. So here he was in Savanaclaw’s common room confessing his sins and expecting some divine judgment from you two.
“So…that’s everything. I’m sorry for doubting you Ruggie, I should have just asked.”
Ruggie smiled and ducked his head low, “I can’t believe you would doubt me.”
Silver gulped, “I really, really was stupid-”
Silver was cut off by the sound of laughter from Ruggie.
“God, I’m SO sorry but I tried to take this seriously but geez you look like you just killed someone’s cat and it’s killing me,” Ruggie explained through his laughing fits.
You elbowed your boyfriend but still was laughing, “Stop! He’s sincerely sorry! It’s not funny!”
“Why are you laughing then, huh?” Ruggie wiped away tears, elbowing you back.
“Am not!” You coughed and gained your composure, “Silver.”
“Um…yes?” He questioned, not sure of what exactly was going on.
“I’m so honored that you care about me so much that you would make an antidote for me, truly the bestest friend I’ve ever had. You know no one else would do that, all my other friend’s just like…have stopped talking to me,” You roll your eyes, “You are forgiven.”
“Thank you,” Silver bowed.
“BUT!” You added loudly, “Now I owe my significant idiot, money!”
“What do you mean?” Silver asked, confused once again.
“We made’a bet. I said that if you found out about the rumor you would try to make an antidote or confront me, but they said you had to already know and decided not to do anything. Shihihi~ How great for me!”
Silver just smiled at you both, no doubt that you two were made for each other.

king of the world
Tumblr media
☾ - pairing: leona kingscholar x reader ☾ - word count: 1.1k+ ☾ - summary: leona just wants to nap, but you have a way of being a little too distracting.
Tumblr media
“What are you doing?”
The low growl startled you out of your thoughts as you turned your head towards the voice. Your mind had been otherwise preoccupied as you stared at the notebook in your lap and you hadn’t even noticed that your right hand had started to wander. That is, not until you focused in on the feeling of soft hair beneath your fingertips and your eyes met the confused, and slightly annoyed, gaze of your boyfriend next to you.
Leona had been dozing while you were studying, and you hadn’t even realized that you had started to run your fingers through his hair while your mind drifted off to alchemy formulas and spell techniques. It was never your intention to wake him, but as your fingers brushed along the ridge of his ear, you could imagine how it might have startled him back to consciousness.
“I’m sorry,” you murmured as embarrassment washed over you. You hated to admit how relaxing it was for your fingers to twirl around his long, brunette strands and how it helped keep you grounded and focused. But you knew that Leona hated being disturbed from his naps, even if it was by your gentle, caressing touch. “I didn’t mean to disturb your nap.”
Emerald irises regarded you now as the annoyance had slipped from his expression and you felt yourself relax just a bit. Despite your apology, you still hadn’t stopped running your fingers through his locks, and he hadn’t said anything else that might warrant a complete cease and desist. In fact, a small smile appeared to be tugging at the corner of his lips as you slowly brushed along his ear again and your nails scratched gently against his scalp.
Imagine your surprise when, in response, you heard a small purr rip through your boyfriend’s throat as his eyes fluttered shut. Your eyes widened as it was a sound that you had never heard before, and it only took approximately 2.5 seconds before he realized what had happened and his eyes were snapping open once again.
“What was tha-“
“You didn’t hear anything.”
His tone was lacking any type of malice as he sat up on his arms, his cheeks turning a dark red as he gently pushed your hand away from his head. Ultimately, you knew that he had been enjoying your ministrations, and from the noise that he had made, he had also managed to play his entire hand for you to see. He could act all resigned and tough all he wanted, but you knew better. The thought made you smile.
“I can keep going if you’d like,” you grinned, your hand slowly moving back towards the top of his head, only to be halted in mid-air as his hand wrapped around your wrist. His green eyes finally met yours once more and you could see a hint of reservation in them. Everything about your relationship was new territory for him, and you were sure that giving away his emotions in the way that he just had was a lot for him. However, you were here to nurture those feelings and help them bloom, that way he could see and recognize just how cared for he was. “Leona, there is nothing for you to be ashamed of. So, you purred? Who cares-“
“I said, you didn’t hear anything.” With a quick twist of his body, he was soon on top of you, one hand still wrapped around your wrist as he pinned it over your head. For someone that had just been sound asleep, he moved with a quickness and agility that always managed to take your breath away.
There was a flash of warning in his eyes, as if daring you to press him, but the smile on your face only grew as you knew that you were in no imminent danger. His pride was bruised just a bit, but you knew him better than he thought you did.
“Whatever my King says.”
The use of the nickname threw him off as his eyes widened and his hold on your wrist tightened just a bit. It wasn’t the first time he had heard it, and you could tell by that flash in his eyes that he enjoyed it. The purring incident forgotten, there was a new cause to the flush of his cheeks as he used his free hand to swipe your notebook from your lap so that he could press closer to you.
Leona had always suffered from the idea that he wasn’t wanted. Being the second born with no real claim to the throne of his kingdom, he felt… lost. He had the desire to be a leader, but that was often masked under his perceived indifference and laziness when it came to school. However, hearing you call him your ‘king’ and taking in the fond look that you gave him while you said it had a new desire building inside of him that he wasn’t quite sure how to tame on his own.
When he looked at you now, he didn’t think about the kingdom that he would never rule. He didn’t think of those years being cast aside in favor of his brother or how he had longed just to be recognized for his greatness. No, instead, he saw a whole new world that he had been handed the power to reign over. He saw everything he had ever hoped for right in front of him, and it knocked the air from his lungs as he realized what you were offering - what you had always been offering - in exchange for nothing but his affection.
Why settle for a kingdom when he could rule over the whole damn world? That’s what you were to him, anyways.
With the hand that wasn’t pinned by his, you lifted to cup his cheek, easily pulling him from the thoughts that ravaged his brain and bringing him back to the present. He couldn’t help but lean into your soft touch before lowering his head to nuzzle against your neck. The fire that had started inside of him in embarrassment had fizzled as a new flame burst forth in his chest. He could feel your pulse quicken against his lips and the soft sigh that filled his ears was the sweetest sound that he had ever heard.
“I thought you wanted to nap,” you murmured breathlessly as he continued to trail love bites across your neck, applying just enough graze of his teeth to have you arching into him.
“You were the one that woke me up,” he replied quickly, his hot breath fanning across your collarbone, causing you to shiver. “Now, you have to deal with me.”
He knew that you were smiling, and you could envision his smirk in your mind as you pushed your free hand back into his hair. As much as you needed to study, you weren’t going to complain about this particular study break.
“Whatever my King wants.”

➳ bro's the type to.. (a kalim al-asim x gn!human reader dating headcanons)
cw: none, just extreme fluff
a/n: i'm partially free from my school works and guess who's daydreaming about her irl crush-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bro's the type who has this puppy love crush upon meeting you. He was intrigued that someone who came from an unknown background/from another world and doesn't have such ability to do magic is what makes him curious for you.
Bro's the type that would get know you first before his feelings for you surfaced to the top. He wants to know everything about you (but not in a creepy way) and loves to give you small trinkets that reminds you of him.
Bro's the type that would spoil you so much before you became his significant other. Ranging from lots and lots of food cooked by Jamil to gifts that money can buy. Please accept those gifts, that would make Kalim's heart soar up above.
Bro's the type who realizes and accepts that his love for you isn't some platonic love but a kind of love that says 'i really really like you- no, I love you' kind of feeling. He wholeheartedly accepts that you are the reason why he goes to school earlier than usual, why he goes to Ramshackle Dorm first in order to fetch you for classes where he sometimes offers to study in the library just the two of you, and why his grades had increased since the second semester.
Bro's the type who would gush about you to his dormates and to Jamil about you. He would gush about you non stop as he paces back and forth while his beating heart is threatening to come out of his chest as he keeps on rambling about you.
Bro's the type to be the first to comfort you during you days of darkness. If you want to be alone for a while, he'll respect your decision but would happily indulge to your desire for a hug if you needed one.
Bro's the type that invites you to take a ride on his flying carpet and seeing the sparkling stars above. Kalim would melt like a stick of butter as you hold him for support and he'll gladly loop his arm around your waist.
Bro's the type who would carry you in bridal style if you scraped your knee or sprained an ankle. He doesn't take no for an answer as he carries you towards the infirmary and stays with you as you fell asleep and holds your hand to reassure himself that you are doing okay.
Bro's the type that would become extremely nervous as he gets ready to confess his love for you. Kalim is pacing back and forth (again) while carrying a small box of gold as his courting gift to you. When he finally speaks out that he really liked you, you can how his face is sweating and couldn't help but stare at his shakey hands as he hands you over his gift of courtship. You accepted his confession and you saw his mouth contorted into the most adorable grin you've ever seen as he spins you around in the air.
Bro's the type that gives you kisses 24/7 and is big on PDA. He wants everyone to know that you are Kalim's lover and treats you like some kind of royalty. He loves holding your hand with his while walking around the corridors of the school.
Bro's the type who makes a keychain locket that was hooked on his magic pen. When he's down or just misses you, he would open up the small latch of the locket and sees your adorable face.
Bro's the type who would fight for the relationship he established with you. Because the heir of the Asim family loves you so much and would do anything to keep you safe and loved.

Dancing 'til the break of dawn - Pt2
<Pt1
(TWST zombie apocalypse au for all your crack-fic needs)
As a kind of ‘sorry for almost stabbing you, please do not sic your zombie cat on me’ gesture, Ace gripped Yuu’s hand and dragged him into the back of the convenience store so they could share a nice little meal together.
Well… it would be nice, if Yuu wasn’t approximately 99% sure that Ace was a cannibal. After all, he hadn’t had any supplies on him that would have been worth stealing, much less killing over, that was why he had come into the convenience store in the first place. And it wasn’t like the store had been openly claimed in any of the traditional ways, with a blackened zombie corpse out front or a big bar over the window and a handwritten sign telling people to stay out ‘or else’.
And Grim had accepted Ace’s mystery meat. Yuu had lived with the zombie for quite a while, now, so he knew for a fact that Grim was very particular about his diet. Much to his chagrin, might he add. It was a little gross to watch his cat feast on the corpses of what had once been humans. He only spared so much of his innocence by turning his face away whenever the zombie needed to eat.
All of this to say: Yuu did not like the look of the bowlful of mystery meat he was offered. Especially since it wasn’t really all that much of a mystery.
He took it gingerly, but was reluctant to actually eat any. He tossed some to Grim when Ace turned away to prepare himself a bowl, and winced when Grim snapped it up without the slightest trace of hesitation.
Well, that confirms that theory.
Ace settled down a few feet away and started digging in. Without even cringing. Maybe it was good?
Yuu poked at the meat with his chopsticks, frowning a little. When cooked it, frankly, didn’t look that different from any other meat. Though it looked bland. Did Ace not know what spices are? Yuu was pretty sure he had seen a few spice jars scattered around the shop, couldn’t he have spared at least a couple?
Beyond that, though, he was… less than eager to learn if everything really does just taste like chicken.
Would it be rude to refuse, though? Ace had cooked it for him…
He cleared his throat awkwardly. “So, uh, why didn’t you just… eat the food that was here?”
Ace didn’t seem to know what he was talking about, so Yuu motioned to the aisles upon aisles of food that he was using as bait.
Ace seemed to buffer for an entire minute.
“Well… it’s not sustainable. I mean, we’re going to be stuck like this until… who knows how long. I don’t know how to tend to plants or – anything.”
Yuu gave him a flat look. “Y’know, I’d believe that if it wasn’t very clear that you’re making this up on the spot.”
Ace scowled and crossed his arms over his chest. “Well, what do you know? You befriended a fucking zombie.”
“It was really dark, okay?!”
Grim glowered at Ace. And then snapped at his knee.
“Get your fucking cat!” Ace screeched.
Yuu sighed. “Grim, just because you don’t like someone doesn’t mean you can kill them. We’ve been over this.”
Grim, for lack of a better word, sulked at the reminder.
Ace, however, looked horrified. “... how many times has Grim killed someone you made ‘friends’ with?”
“I try not to think about it,” Yuu admitted.
Ace looked like he wanted to die… well, actually, like he very much did not want to die. “Well, you – you scold him afterward, right?”
“Of course!”
“You’d scold him if he killed me, then?” Ace sounded a little bit desperate. He looked at the zombie. “You hear that? You’ll get told off if you kill me!”
Grim looked like he was very much ready to take that risk.
“You – you have to start doing more,” said Ace. “Like, at least say you won’t talk to him anymore if he kills me.”
Yuu frowned. That seemed a little bit extreme. Grim was his special little guy. He couldn’t just stop talking to him.
Ace would claim until the end of time that he did not whimper. That the sound he made was actually very cool and manly. Ace is a liar.
Yuu, however, is not. Which is why he never agreed to abandon his beloved cat.
His beloved cat was, technically, a murderer, but we all have our flaws. Yuu didn’t care that much. Though… he seemed to be an exception – people always stressed when Grim’s kill count was brought up, it was so annoying. And hypocritical, in Ace’s case, seeing as he was a serial killer/cannibal.
Yuu didn’t need to deal with this.
“I’m going to grab some spices,” he decided, pushing himself to his feet. “If I’m going to be eating this, it needs to actually taste good.”
Ace yelped and jumped up as well, almost running to latch onto Yuu’s arm, squinting at Grim with open suspicion. “Here, I know where they are, let me take you there!”
Grim narrowed his eye right back at him. But, upon receiving a warning look from Yuu, settled down on his front paws and glared at nothing.
So, with little additional fanfare, Yuu and Ace grabbed a few spices from the shelves, and Yuu worked at making a spice combination that would go with something he had never tried before and didn’t even really want to eat now.
He managed to make something that tasted… fine. On its own, at least. He had no clue how well it would work with human flesh.
So, Ace was to be his test subject.
(Should he trust Ace as a test subject? He was already eating people, his taste buds might not have been all that normal… whatever. Yuu was having a day. He was officially tired of parsing out things like logic and morality.)
He spiced up the meat and then gave it to Ace to try.
Ace glanced at him, slightly wary. But he had watched Yuu grab all of the spices, so it wasn’t like he could have poisoned it. The worst it could be was gross. He took a careful bite.
He almost dropped his bowl.
He looked at Yuu with stars in his eyes.
“Never leave me,” Ace said.
Yuu’s eyebrows raised just slightly. “Not scared of Grim anymore?”
“It’s worth it. I can’t cook for shit. I’ve been dying here.”
Yuu snickered into his hand.
Grim narrowed his eye at Ace. Ace – who was definitely a little more concerned about the zombie cat than he had originally tried to claim – hesitated, before scooping a little bit of the meat out onto the floor for him.
The zombie sniffed the peace offering for a moment before eating it.
Grim was enlightened.
Yuu realized, dully, that this was probably the first time the zombie had ever had seasoned food. He felt… strangely guilty about this.
He rubbed the zombie’s head, scratching behind his cat’s ear in just the way he liked it. Grim purred and, apparently, decided that Ace could live for another day, so long as Yuu continued to love on him for the rest of the night.
“I guess the food was a hit,” Yuu joked lightly.
“It’s really good,” Ace said, nudging the bowl towards him to try.
He picked it up gingerly and blew on the… ‘food’.
… in the end, Yuu only managed a few bites before he had to stop. It tasted fine, but he couldn’t get over what it actually was. He resolved himself to make a run to the store sometime within the next week or two for something he could eat without feeling physically ill – or mentally ill, for that matter.
(He wanted to use what they already had in the store, but Ace insisted that his bait was not to be disturbed. Remind him why he had chosen to be friends with Ace, again?)
~
Yuu stubbed his toe on a can of beans of all things. Ace had taken to trying to drive him away with petty inconveniences, since anything too openly hostile would end in him getting killed. It was kind of funny, when it wasn't happening to you.
He punched a shelf out of frustration.
Great. Now his hand, hurt, too.
"Sh-ugar," Yuu hissed.
Ace snorted. "You can swear, man, it's the apocalypse. I do it all the time. Watch: fuckshitbitchdamnhellIcan'tthinkofanymoreshitshitshit! See? No one to get onto my case about it."
Yuu scowled. "Nope. I'm perfect and virtuous and -."
"Your best friend is a zombie."
He threw up his hands in frustration. "You befriend one zombie and suddenly all of the good things you've ever done are null and void!"
Ace raised an eyebrow.
Yuu scowled. How was he supposed to have known that helping out a random stray would end the world as he knew it? Grim was the very first zombie, it would have been weirder to assume that there was something wrong, in his opinion!
"I'm never doing anything nice ever again," Yuu decided.
"You've done nice things before?"
"Shut up and go cut up that body at the front of the store so I can start making dinner."
"Very nice of you," Ace teased.
"It is," Yuu said flatly. "I don't have to feed you, you know."
Ace, to his surprise, didn't back off. Instead, he grinned widely. He clapped Yuu on the shoulder. "You're already getting the hang of it! I'll corrupt you in no time."
Yuu fought the urge to curse, if only because he didn't want to further prove Ace's point.
After all, he hated Ace and didn't find him at all funny. Ignore the little smile that threatened to tug at his lips the moment Ace was safely out of sight. Yuu was certainly ignoring it.
~
Yuu squinted at the veritable forest that had grown in the garden section of the old, abandoned grocery store.
Man, things go to the dogs fast in the apocalypse.
Or should he say they went to the cats? Since it was a cat that had started this all?
He looked down at Grim. The zombie had been clinging to his side even more than usual. Yuu wasn’t sure if it was because the almost-murder had spooked the cat, or if him becoming kinda-friends with his almost-murderer had made the cat decide that Yuu absolutely could not at any cost be left alone ever again, or if Grim was jealous that he no longer had Yuu’s undivided attention anymore, or if the zombie just really liked the texture of Yuu’s new baggy sweatpants and would take any opportunity to rub up against them. Really, all of those options were equally likely.
And, though Yuu was definitely the one with all the power in this scenario, he wanted his darling subordinate’s opinion:
“Do you approve of this?” he said, smiling wryly as he motioned to the mess of plants.
Grim squinted suspiciously at the plants, as if he was half-convinced there would be another Ace hidden in the shadows.
He didn’t seem to see anything, for he didn’t start growling or puffing up like he did when he was trying to be menacing, so Yuu took a cautious step forward.
Grim sunk his teeth into the fabric of his pant leg.
Yuu’s life flashed before his eyes. The zombie’s teeth didn’t touch his skin, but they could have if he had moved even the slightest bit unpredictably, and he did not appreciate that he had almost been killed.
He looked down at his cat, disapproving.
Grim didn’t look cowed (or… cated?), instead tugging on Yuu’s pant leg, trying to physically drag him away from the forest.
Yuu sighed.
He supposed that it was unlikely that he’d find any useful plants in the brush, anyway.
“Alright, plan B, then,” he said, somewhat reluctantly.
He grabbed the nearest plant pot filled with soil, and then walked right back into the store proper.
~
Yuu stepped into the convenience store, still frowning just slightly over his gross bag full of rotting fruits. It was wrapped in as many bags as he could physically tie around it, plus some, but it was still a miserable thing to carry.
You would think he’d get used to the smell of rot and death, but no. It’s a surprisingly varied smell. Just when you think you’ve smelled it all, another, worse smell will make itself known.
He hates his life. And his bag, right now. Ugh, he would never get the smell out of these clothes.
At least these seeds would, probably, sprout into something useful once he planted them. He wasn’t sure, since the plants themselves were rotted and therefore there was a very real chance that the seeds would be useless. He, frankly, did not have much knowledge about gardening, because he was a normal teen boy… but he could figure it out! He grabbed a couple of books on the subject, he’d be an expert in no time. By sheer force of will. He was determined to eat as few human beings as was physically possible.
Speaking of.
His cannibal friend.
He would… prefer not to catch the boy by surprise. For hopefully obvious reasons.
“Aaaaaace. I got that bell and string you wanted,” Yuu called, ringing the bell once for emphasis, before making his way further inside.
He could hear a flurry of movement, but he wasn’t entirely sure where it was coming from. Maybe Ace had been asleep and was scrambling to get himself back into order before Yuu could see his bedhead…?
Ace cursed, loudly. This did not necessarily disprove that thought, but Yuu did end up remembering that Ace’s hair always looked like a bedhead, and there was no reason for him to suddenly care about it.
So… the sound was probably…
Yuu looked down at Grim, betrayed. “Did you send a zombie after my friend?!” he hissed.
Grim looked like he had only just now realized that that was an option. Which meant that it wasn’t a zombie that Ace was fighting. But then… what?
“Ace?” he called, standing on tiptoes to try and see over the shelves, trying to figure out where the scuffle was coming from. “You good?”
There was a loud banging sound from somewhere in the back of the store, and a shelf wobbled uncertainly.
Well, that answers that question.
He rushed towards the back of the store, and… well, he wasn’t sure what he had been expecting, but it really wasn’t to find Ace sitting on top of the freezer, looking for all the world as if he was entirely innocent… with a backpack and bat that Yuu had never seen before at his feet, and what looked to be a bruise forming on his cheek.
“Oh, hey. Yuu. You’re back. Thanks for the. Bell,” the boy said, entirely natural in his cadence and definitely not doing that thing you do when you’re entirely out of breath and trying to keep quiet about it because someone is passing you and you don’t want this random stranger to know how inactive you are.
Yuu raised an eyebrow at him. “You’re… welcome?”
There was a banging sound from inside of the freezer Ace was sitting on. Ace tried very hard not to react, but his fingers curled tighter around his knife anyway.
“There’s a person in there, isn’t there?” Yuu said, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Noooooo,” said Ace, batting his eyelashes.
The not-person-inside-of-the-freezer screamed something that sounded distinctly like the word ‘yes’. This did not convince Yuu of Ace’s innocence.
Even Grim seemed to give Ace a look that screamed ‘who do you think you are fooling?’
“So, if there’s no person in there, then you’ll have no problem opening it, right?”
Ace’s smile strained at the edges. “... c’mon, man, don’t do this to me.”
Yuu looked at the freezer, mentally debating whether it was worth it to even get involved. Frankly, it was the apocalypse, and everyone that was still alive kind of sucked, and there was a nonzero chance that the person would not take being shoved into a freezer lightly and would try and kill them immediately upon being let out.
He sighed.
“How old did they look?” Yuu asked.
Ace hesitated just a hair longer than would typically be to Yuu’s liking.
He groaned. “Open it.”
Ace looked like he would very much prefer not doing that. But, when Yuu prodded him with his foot, he reluctantly stood and, holding his knife out in preparation for a possible attack, allowed him to unlock the freezer.
Another person, maybe about their age, emerged from the freezer like a vampire might emerge from a coffin, grim expression and all. This effect was ruined by the fact that his hair was… blue? Maybe he was a blond who had dyed his hair black with shitty dye and it had washed out weirdly without touch-ups. Or maybe he was just really into blue hair and was working to maintain it even throughout the apocalypse. Who knows?
The boy groaned and stepped out of the freezer, scowling at Ace. “Thank you,” he grumbled, immediately picking up his bat again. He stepped between Yuu and Ace, raising his weapon. He pointed it at the redhead, which is, really, not what you’re supposed to do with a bat. “You should run, he’s dangerous.”
Ace looked somewhere between flattered and offended. “Hey! That’s my –...” Ace trailed off, unsure. Yuu wondered, absently, what he would say. Would he call him a friend? Partner? Fellow survivor, even? “Chef!” Ouch. “He’s not leaving here, he’s mine!”
Grim growled.
“And Grim’s!” he added hastily.
The blue-haired boy, though, paused. He looked for the origin of the sound. Yuu nudged Grim into a shadowed area so he looked more like a normal cat. Because the boy seemed well-intentioned, and therefore was very likely to be against Yuu having a zombie for a pet.
What does that say about Yuu’s relationship with Grim? Well, he’d rather not think about it!
Yuu sighed, stepping around him carefully, holding his hands up placatingly. “I appreciate it, but it’s fine.”
The boy looked incredulous. “He’s killing and eating people?! He doesn’t even act like he likes you?! You’re his chef?!”
“Listen, man, it’s the apocalypse, I don’t have that many options.”
“Dude…” He offered Yuu a hand. “I’ll be your friend. I’m Deuce Spade. What’s your name?”
Ew, pity. He didn’t want a pity friend. He could take Ace talking to him out of fear of Grim or respect for his cooking prowess, but pity? No thanks.
Ace snatched up the outstretched hand before Yuu could even try to shake it (not that he currently wanted to), squeezing with way more force than was entirely necessary. “Ace Trappola. Nice to meet you.”
Deuce looked disgusted. And then mildly terrified when Ace made as if to slice off his hand.
Yuu was quick to grab Ace by the arm to stop him from murdering someone for the high crime of daring to suggest that he was not the safest person to be around. How could he not see that this was proving Deuce’s point?! You’d think he’d refrain from killing for the sake of being petty, at least, but no!
Deuce’s eyes looked strangely misty. Not even because of the almost-dying thing, that was pretty much par for the course when running into other survivors, he looked so upset about Yuu’s situation. Yuu wondered what kind of soap-opera-esque backstory the boy was dreaming up for him.
He didn’t get to ask, because Deuce quickly derailed the conversation before he could: “I guess I’ll have to stay here until you’re ready to leave.”
Ace spluttered. “No?! We let you live, you’re supposed to go, now?!”
Deuce scoffed. “Why do you get to make that decision?”
“This is my base?!”
Deuce, apparently, was not going to be swayed by Ace’s facts and logic.
Ace gave Yuu a pleading look. “Yuu, can we please kill him now?”
Yuu thought about it. And then shook his head, a tiny grin threatening to steal across his lips. “Nah, letting him stay is way funnier.”
From the look on everyone else’s faces, they vehemently disagreed.
But this isn’t about them! So, Deuce got to stay. Much to the chagrin of everyone. Including himself!

Characters: Leona Kingscholar; Gn!Reader
Special guests→ @mscarterakaviola98 @mutiachan
Stories about piracy were nothing new in high society. Given, they were not the most popular topics, but they did come up once or twice. Coincidence or not, all the talks were about the same pirate, The “Sea Lion” as navies called him.
He was a lion beast man named Leona, so the nickname checks out. No one really knows where he came from or how he became the worst nightmare of any ship, boat or any other means of transport on the sea, which made ‘worldwide business’… difficult to say the least.
Speaking of the devil. There was a big rumor going on that he was finally captured just a few days ago or even less.
"...And I'm proud to announce, that once fearsome pirate, Sea Lion, was finally caught!" Loud cheers of approval were heard through out the ball room. Everyone clapped and congratulated the governor, yourself included.
"Now, my dear friends, as much as I want to hang that filth, by law I'm bound to wait three days, therefore anyone, who desires to face the beast, may pay him a visit in the dungeons!" Loud whisper began to acho all around you. As much as piracy was a downside for your business, you felt your profit senses began to tingle. This should be interesting for sure...
For 2 days the Sea Lion had visitors, everyone said the same thing, that the pirate king, that even The Devil himself feared, was just sleeping in his cell, like it was his quarters.
On the last day, you decided it was finally the time to pay that, seemingly, lazy lion a visit. After all, it's the last day, he won't be able to reject an offer you have for him...
Before you, on the ground, with some hay as a mattress, laid the legend himself. Rumours didn't lie, he really was laying down, as if he wasn't about to be hanged at any moment.
The man was handsome, only a blind person would deny that. Laying on his back, long chocolate coloured locks splattered on his face, mainly covering the scar on his right eye. Dark skin glowing softly from the suns light from a small cell window. Lion was dressed in a typical pirate outfit, only his signature hat missing, along with his sword and guns.
"How long are you plannin’ to stare me down?" Came from the man. "My apologies, didn't want to interrupt your afternoon nap." You replied with a small chuckle. "Is that so?" He asked, with clear sarcasm practical dripping off of him. "Well, you are awake now, so it doesn't really matter now, does it?" You replied.
"I have an offer you may be interested, Mr Leona." Upon hearing his name, the lazy lion opened one of his eyes, peering at you with his green emerald like orb. "What can you offer a pirate?" He asked snarkly, lips slightly curling to show his fangs. “I’m a person of business, you are a sea bandit, I’m sure you’ll find something to take from me either way.” You paraded.
“All right then, I’m listening, herbivore.”
To say that high society was baffled, would be a massive understatement. All of them were protesting and begging you to come to your sense.
Walking around with the famous pirate was indeed a hassle, but then again, it was your idea at the end of the day.
"Please, come to your sense, your grace!" Mr. Williams yelled in desperation. "What can I say? Mr. Leona decided to use Act of grace, and who am I to decline such an offer?" You replied with a slight smugness in your voice. “Just because he’s under your command now, doesn’t mean he’s not a criminal anymore. Please, your grace, this man, even after demanding an act of grace can’t be on a ship, much less be a captain of one!” This nonsense was getting on your nerves.
“Then he shall be my gardener!” You said the first thing that came to mind. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to show Mr. Leona my new peach trees, they’re quite exotic after all.” Turning away from Mr. Williams, you hooked your arm under the pirates hand and started leading the way. Leona looked down on with a smirk and a glint of amusement in his eyes.
"A gardener? You're full of surprises, herbivore."
