imagine how utterly heart rending it’d be if narrator ever confessed his love to tyler, and tyler doesn’t love him back. the man narrator created in his head does not love him back.

if you connect this with self love issues also, it just becomes more harrowing. narrator could never fully love himself, if not at all.

i feel like narrator would have such a breakdown about tyler not loving him back. jack literally worships the ground tyler walks on, paints a halo above his head, follows everything he says and does blindly, but tyler is indifferent towards him. after everything jack has done for his approval.

jacks worth, in his head, relies on what tyler thinks about him. jack is nothing if not loved by tyler.
