humble beginnings

johnny didn't find out that simon had a romantic partner until you two reached past your 1 year anniversary. it happened by pretty much chance too, here's how that went: simon forgot a file, you were off of work, you drove to base, you dropped off said file using your dependent clearance, he kissed your cheek goodbye right in the doorway of his office (masked), johnny turned the corner, and as simon pulled away, you looked at johnny who was desperately trying to seem busy on his phone as he walked away hurriedly. he was on the calculator app. simon and you gave each other a look and he nodded, knowing that you've been wanting to meet the colorful coworkers (and his closest friends) for a while now. you called him over, soap, as you've remembered, not everyday you see a mohawk. johnny freezes and turned around to see you beckoning him back to the frame of the office, and simon with his arms crossed, staring a bit annoyed actually. he was chill when you two introduced each other, not wanting to embarrass himself. his eyes lit up though, when he heard you invite him over for dinner. "lovie..." simon started out, a gentle hand on your back. you hit his chest with the back of your head playfully, "no, no, this will be good for us. first diner party in our new house" "HOUSE? HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD SOMEONE" he wanted to scream at simon's face, what came out however was a "i dinnae want to be a bother to you both" you insisted and he felt bad (but also curious), so dinner it was. simon took off his mask to please you and well, it was the comfort of his home. he rolled his eyes as johnny quipped that he certainly was "quite the opposite". from that day forward, it was the three of you against...manchester i guess?

children, the both of them

johnny tags along whenever you two are running errands on leave or on off days when they're both stationed at home. sometimes it's just you and him, or him and simon, or all three of yall. it started with a "we're having brunch, wanna join?" and now it's more like "we're going to the zoo, 9 am, get there" they make up the weirdest challenges and it feels like you're babysitting them both. simon, doesn't see it, he's a grown adult man, he's not silly. johnny says it's just in his nature like how it's natural that wombats poop in cubes (he walked ahead to read that tidbit and walked back to regurgitate it back at the two of you). challenges include: simon and johnny getting into a long debate about which is better, the smoked salmon crepes or the chocolate crepes, and when they mix them together, who can eat it all without puking? who can get to the butterfly sanctuary the fastest without running? who can find your favorite fish in the 30,000 gallon (113562.35 liter) fish tank WHILE holding their breath as if they were swimming in the water johnny telling you that his jokes are the best, simon butting in and using the "i'm your boyfriend, surely my jokes are better" card. you wanted to throw them both out of the car as they kept going back and forth with the most stupidest, tasteless, dad jokes ever. johnny saying he can drive better than simon. simon saying he can fly a broken helicopter and land safely. you're in the driver's seat. simon quipped that he would be a good artist compared to this shit's canvas (picasso) and johnny saying that his cat can paint better. simon said dogs can do it better. johnny said- you get the idea simon threw up after the 8th time on a rollercoaster. johnny threw up on the 9th. you, however, went through a nice scenic boat ride :)

quiet mornings

you three are closer than yall think. whenever they're both away, you always miss the noise they bring in the kitchen, trying to figure out how to make muffins or...popcorn. the three of you doing the daily wordle, crossword, and sudoku. "what's c for?" "c4 is an explosive, bonnie" "no johnny, what does C STAND FOR? fucking idiot..." mornings when you both are expecting johnny are never quiet, especially when he announces that he's there by knocking on the front door and saying "it's johnny!" when someone opens it. even when he's not there, you can at least hear simon's almost silent breaths if it wasn't for how close you two were. you miss them when they have to leave, you know it can't be forever, but damnit you missed the buzzing of them both. you don't miss, however, johnny and simon playing drunk monopoly.

“i know there’s not much we can do here sweetness, and this may be cheesy but i know how much ye love random surprises, just wanted to give you a little change of routine tis all”

you scrunch your eyebrows at him saying it’s cheesy, “you do know i’m a sucker for anything cutesy you do johnny, but this is so sweet, look how bright the stars look! so pretty.”

“they look wonderful but they’re nothing compared to you bonnie, you’re my stars, my moon, my world, hell- the entire universe and you’ve made my life infinitely better”

you give him a pout and scooch up to give him a kiss, “nothing i say can be better than that, but just know i love you too and-“ you’re stuttering now and he chuckles “and- i agree but l- yknow- that- i-“ you take a quick pause and he nods at you teasingly, “you’re my world.”

the guys find you two outside and you end up finding yourself all together sharing the moment now, so of course you all have to adjust and make room.

your head is laying on soaps shoulder while he has his arm wrapped around you, price has his head laid against your legs, gaz is behind the 3 of you with his head on the same pillow soaps head is on but he’s laying on the opposite side and ghost is sitting criss cross (apple sauce ofc) by you all.

price lights his cigar and takes a deep sigh - tension leaving his body as he relaxes his shoulders .

“ya know y/n, you really do know how to bring us all together in your own goofy way.”

“WHAT?! I SET THIS UP?” soap replies and you gaz and ghost laugh.

“yeah was all him, not me cap’n! i swear!”

“ah yes, if it were you- there would’ve been tea.” he flicks the ash off the end of his cigar

soap rolls his eyes, “fuckin brits . . . never tired of the damn tea”

you don’t know how but you all end up out there all night - sharing jokes and stories, childhood memories, playfully making fun of eachother and cuddling like chumps, price asking you to run your hands through his scalp and huffing anytime you stop (like when a dog side eyes you as you stop petting them) and then quickly smiling when you continue - you even caught simon swinging his legs while you were sharing scary stories and you and gaz almost died of laughter

“that shit was gay as hell” and he just rolls his eyes and grunts

but what did it for soap was the fact that gaz starts snorting with his laugh, and you’re wheezing.

these men were known to be very intimidating scary beings, soldiers and fighters first - but ever since you joined them they started remembering to have more fun - being that they joined this line of work so early in their lives they lost most of the opportunity to just exist and be. after the shit they’ve been through in their lives, you manage to just strengthen the faith they have in humanity with your caring tendencies.

after a while you can hear price snoring and ghost lets out a “heh, the old man’s fell asleep”

price slurs out a tired “m’not sleepin- just resting my eyes soldier.”

“right, i too snore when i “”rest my eyes”” sir” gaz says,

you just shush them and giggle but lightly, not to stir price since he’s against you still, arm now wrapped around your leg.

If you simply tell him, he'll think that you're faking at first. He'll believe you when you show him your wolf traits, although he's still weirded out-

But, the much funnier and more dramatic reaction is if he finds you fully shifted as a wolf

He is scared out of his mind, screaming and running and not understanding why this wolf, which is like a bigger dog, is yipping at him

You tackle him and shift back, and the look of absolute shock and betrayal on his face is probably the most hilarious thing in the world-

He helps you continue hiding your werewolf side, even if he still gets horrendously scared whenever you're a wolf in front of him-

"Hey, I-" He freezes when he sees you in your wolf form, and immediately turns around, "Nope-" You just end up tackling him anyway <3

Ena:

Ena is similar to Akito, although her reaction is only a little less dramatic

If you confess it to her, she also doesn't believe you. When you show her your wolf traits, she immediately asks to take pictures

If she finds out because she stumbles across you fully shifted? It also does not go too well-

She's scrambling backward with her phone in hand, recording you because you were very different from most wolves, for some reason...

You eventually just shift back in front of her, and she stares at you in complete and utter bewilderment. She asks how any of that is even possible-

She helps you hide your werewolf side, although she probably asks if she can take videos and pictures of you and also use your wolf form as drawing practice!

"Oi, stay still and stop jumping at me!" She grumbles at you as you give her a sheepish grin in your wolf form. She sighs, patting your head. "At least you're cute."

Minori:

Minori is the only one out of these three who will have a positive first reaction-

If you decide to just tell her, she'll give you a confused look but believe you nonetheless. Showing her your wolf traits makes her eyes sparkle!

If she discovers you while you're shifted as a wolf, it honestly turns into a really adorable scene between you both!

She knows she shouldn't get too close to wolves, but you looked so cute! And you weren't being at all aggressive either...

You end up shifting back way later, mostly because she started treating you like Samo, and she apologizes profusely for all of the belly rubs she was giving you-

She helps you hide your werewolf side, but begs to at least be allowed to give you head pats and belly rubs! She thinks it's really adorable!

"Aww, who's a cute wolfie??" She giggles as she pats your head, causing your tail to start wagging. She really couldn't get enough of you in your wolf form <3

Drabble format, relation can be interpreted by reader!

Cracking open the door to their home, nestled comfortably in the lively— though currently sleepy— and comforting neighbourhood, was Y/N. With their telescope looped under their arm, and their trusty astronomer’s journal held loosely in their other hand, they’d carefully use their foot to close their door. In most cases? Locking the door would be best! But in this neighbourhood? It wasn’t much of a concern! And who has time for locks when there are stars about?!!

With a giddy smile, they’d take off towards the surrounding woods of the neighbourhood— an almost nightly routine, at this point, as they beelined for a nearby hill. Why, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if they trampled their own little trail into the colourful grass, by now! They had discovered this hill not too long ago, it quite close to the neighbourhood— but still cut off loosely by the trees and unkept grass. The little spot felt like their own, and the clearing the hill gave from the trees made a delightful little spot to stargaze! It was no wonder why they were drawn to the spot night by night, even if they should be, possibly, sleeping..

Having drifted into their own thoughts as they walked, the bushes would soon give way to shortened, but still flowing grass. The darkened trees overhead would give way to the night sky above, the area ever so slightly dimly illuminated by the large crescent moon above. It almost felt dream-like! Clicking back into reality as the scenery shifted, they’d grin again before marching up the hill— it, thankfully, wasn’t a very steep one! And, with routine-practiced precision, they had their little corner of the world set up in just a few moments. Telescope propped up, astrology book flipped open to whatever page they needed, they’d happily indulge in the speckled sky above. Seeing as the neighbourhood didn’t really have any lights to cause light pollution, the sight of the sky was breathtaking. The sky many had looked up to, for many years! Quite poetic in it of itself, especially with a full scope on just how many stars there were!

Nearby, though, was another neighbour— an intrigued, curious one. Peering through the tree line, having followed the tossed grass, was no other than Wally Darling himself. For quite a few nights now, he had heard.. scuffling outside, which caused some confusion! Not many of the neighbours went out at night, save for maybe Frank hunting after specific nocturnal bugs, or Sally just.. being Sally. So, tonight, he deemed he’d investigate it! Perhaps it was a late night critter? He just had to know! This, however, just led to him following you.. here? What an odd raccoon (/j)…

You, however, were none the wiser to his curious stare, instead staring up at the sky with wide eyes. You look starstruck, quite literally! He watched as you excitedly flickered between peering through your telescope; flicking through the pages of your book as you clumsily held a flashlight in your mouth; and simply staring up at the large sky in all its glory.

With a muted hum to himself, Wally would simply watch for a moment— head still idly tilted to the side. He was contemplating joining you, but— after some thought decided he’d.. truly rather not do that in his night-time robes, haha! But, proposing to join you some other time, maybe with his art supplies in tow to soak in the delightful scene in his own way? Now, that sounded lovely. But, for the time being, he let you have your ‘corner’— soon turning away and beginning to walk back towards Home with a smile. A plotting one, though not devious!.. likely.. (/lhj).

He certainly just had to ask you about it, sometime!

i don’t particularly dislike them, but i don’t have any myself nor do i really engage with them regularly

at least if you’re talking in a romantic sense. platonic ships are my Favorite Ever i eat them up give them to Me!!!!! Right Now!!! but my mind cannot comprehend romance most of the time haha (i say most of the time because, funnily enough, my favorite game (aside from v3 ofc) is a dating sim. and it’s maybe some sort of exception. i don’t get romance unless it’s one Specific dating sim)

i don’t mind them though, i do see them when looking in tags and i can often go Aw that’s cute :) or Ooooh neat :). i do really appreciate people’s love for their pairings and the dynamics present or any analysis into it! looking at different interpretations is fun!! but my mind Always defaults to Platonic Stuff so in my head i always think So True Best Friends Forever (and then a lot of other stuff specific to romance just Does Not Get Through. my brain goes ?!?!?! haha). all of these are queerplatonic pairings in my eyes……..

I do not wish to add to an stressful situation. I just want to thank you for writing and sharing IKLAO. There are hundrends of Aemond/ofc stories out there. Most of them are a wish fulfillement love stories with your "love trumps it all and female character becomes "Aemond's"" trope. They are fine. I am sure that there have been times when we all – fanfic readers – have turned to them. But, man, to those of us who also enjoy (and have a preference for) more complex takes on love (familial, platonic..you know, life), the overabundance of those stories with a toxic understanding of love as a one dimensional romantic feeling which should be put (particularly by female characters) above everything and everyone at all times gets tiresome. In fact, it tends to feel like an impossition by certain groups of fans. So than you, thank you, thank for writing and sharing a story which reads like a ASOIAF/GRRM story...as he himself has put it: a story about the heart in conflict with itself. Thank you for treating your readers like adults able to understand characters as complex as they are. I cannot tell you how much I love Alys. As someone who has have to face choices between differents kinds of love, her struggles feel so real.

I am sorry that you had that awful experience on the comment section. Unfortunately, when you share your stories with the world, you cannot control the level of emotional maturity and critical reading abilities of your readership. I have seen these awful and inmature reactions to complex takes on ofc (my favs, tbh) many times before in fandoms with characters similar to Aemond or Daemon (btw, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your take on Daemon). I am not at all surprised at the level of toxicity, but I am deeply sorry that you too had to experience ir. That is something mostly unheard off in fics focusing on characters such as Jace ir Oberyn Martell.

What I wanted to say with this rambling rant is that you should not blame yourself for the fact that some in your audience are not trained you really engage with a text beyond passive consumption of certain romantic tropes to fulfill their obsession with a character. You have written a beautiful story with complex characters, whose motivations and flaws hace been there from the start. You have treated us, your readers, like an intelligent audience able to understand nuances. It is such a rare thing in fanfiction that finding your story almost made me want to cry tears of joy. It is also the very reason I began reading IKLAO. Given the level of toxicity that the character of Aemond seemed to atract and how much I disagreed with the fanon interpretations, I avoided Aemond/ofc stories like the plage with a couple of exceptions: IKLAO and another story. I kept to my meager fics exploring Jace/ofc or Jace/Cregan.

So thank you once again for writing and sharing your story. You are extremely good at characterization and I do hope that this awful experience has not put you off from writing – to yourself or to share it.

I mean there are so many different kinds of fanfics, you know? and they're all so wonderful. but I guess this is a less than idealistic story, you know, because it certainly isn't "happy". and I get the disappointment with that.... I just don't know why people feel the need to blame me/insult the story bc of it. there's plenty of fanfics out there that might be exactly what they want, and if there's not, they can always write one themselves, you know?

it's certainly been an experience! I mean I do disagree with some takes I've seen on the characters, and it's totally fine if people do... it's just when they disguise their disgust and hatred for the story as "constructive criticism" that I get ticked off. like there's been a lot of really helpful suggestions and points about certain decisions. like many people thought it was a bad idea for Jace to let daemon go. they were right in the long run. many people don't blame daemon for what he's done. they have a point too! it's about a lot of different perspectives, and that's great! but yeah, when people are like oh, Alysanne is the worst person ever and I hate her with aemond... it's just like what are they doing reading the story, and why do they feel the need to tell me?

gender/pronouns headcanon: i can only see him as a cis guy, but a cis guy who uses he/they

rate them out of ten: 8.5/10! i do really like him and his drama, he’s fun to hate and i like the plots surrounding him.

favorite thing about them: the absolute drama of it all. like, he’s such an incel but he has the dramatic flair to make him compelling, which is the opposite of bumblestripe, who’s a typical “nice guy” but has none of the charisma

sayu smells like nature. with how much time she spends sleeping in and under trees, napping next to streams and snoozing away in bushes, it’s no surprise that she doesn’t have as much of a distinct smell—it’s simply wherever she napped last. but, if she’s been pampered by thoma recently (he enjoys taking care of her whenever she’s around), she smells like fresh laundry :) and hugging her is like hugging a little pillow. she’s so gentle and small and will just cling to you as she drifts off. chances are you’re in komore teahouse after a round of hotpot with thoma and ayaka :) and u probably tuck her in on a little beanbag somewhere afterwards🥺🥺

i might sound a bit harsh saying this (not directed towards you ofc) but i think the reason why some people are so hyperfixated onto Gojo and x reader specifically, the way they write him is believing that he is a character that can only be saved/fixed if he were to have someone to love him on a romantic aspect. I strongly disagree with this, he's been nuanced to the core that i think there's a reason why he's mischaracterized left and right, or when people focus on one aspect of his and talk about that only.

take stsg for example and look how that went, when it comes to gojo i think that he's very... struggling with human connections and relationships (platonic) he does keep people at arms lenght but he is also capable of thinking for himself first and then everyone else, so people putting the whole idea 'if he had someone to love him like that he'd be different' is wrong and not how it works exactly lest that he keeps the whole damn world away from him, so basically while there are gojo x reader fics that write in regards of "what ifs" that doesn't necessarily mean that they are accurate to his character but it is how it is, it's a fan interpretation but at the end of the day just an interpretation. i hate when people go out of their way to treat their hcs as fax tho idk whats the point of that.

and lastly i think that people that write gojo the best are not necessarily ones that have a hard thirst habits for him or madly in love behaviour as in "he's my sweetheart i want to shelter him from the world" but more because they take in every nuance he has to show and was presented by him and convey it into a realistic aspect that brings out the character... which brings me to your writing, when i read your fics i get the vibes of JJK characterization, not something that's only fan interpretated, and i might be biased a bit here but idk, it's just how i feel it if that makes sense?

characters are meant to be interpreted but ppl forget there's already an outline and straying outside of it is like...not interpretation anymore. It's a whole new character.

I just plucked the courage to actually send u an ask fhdjhd but GOSH i love your video edits and your gifs and your meta article posts, you're so articulate and you can explain/describe moments in a way that makes me go "oh wow, i cant believe i haven't seen it that way before!!" Haha ANYWAYS i'm just here to say that i completely agree with what all u said, Free creators might do a lil fanservice here and there for the 25 ships that exists within the fandom's circle, but rinharu's storyline is clearly the most romantic one! And i'd argue it's the one closest to being canon esp after part 1, i mean the fact that they put such an explosive emotional outburst right at the end of the second to the last movie means a lot. It's like reinforcing the fact that this series has always been about them, and everything that has happened only happened either because they met or they grew appart and miss eachother. I kinda feel like maybe.. juust maayyybe there's a chance KA wants to make the ship canon, since it's the last movie and they want to end it on a highnote maybe (bcs honestly i think the only reason they've been holding back is purely bcs of the merch sales, since they don't have a problem showing a wholesome lesbian love story in kobayashi maid dragon) butt i could be wrong, maybe i'm just overly optimistic and delusional, they could somehow ruin it and give an ending that panders to all the ships again 😅🥲, but at least there's a clear-cut guarantee that part 2 would dedicate a large portion of it fixing rin and haru's fight!!! Well, you know me, I only care for one ship, which is the only one with confirmed info that they're both actually gay and have mutual feelings for each other. There are some other ships in free! I'm fine with (those do not include Rin or Haru in them xD), but I just mostly don't care, bc after reading all the stuff, you can see that in some of those to one the other one is actually like his second option, which I just do not like. Others I just don't even see, bc again to me who witnessed great close male friendships and having two sisters who I'm very close to, I just do not see anything romantic in that.

It's not just Free! tbh, it's like any sports anime these days. They see two guys walking together, it's a ship. And like no one cares if they're just bros. Like I'd get i they did some fanservice fanservice, but like I never saw anyone in Free! crossing the line the way rinharu do. I can without thinking much name you 10 rh moments that no matter how hard you think can't be explain as being bros, but can't name one when it comes to others. I just find some ppl shipping everyone with everyone weird sometimes. Yeah, I eel you about "going there". I mean seeing part of it, it just kinda cemented my confusion, bc I do not get how it can be considered platonic. We were just discussing since yesterday with @freeseafirefly how I now even more perplexed and do not understand how they will resolve it without going into relationship territory. It's just our point here is that like... no one forced them to go there (I mean its not like this whole fandom has some wild expectations or anything already), we were waiting or our usual friendship and swimming and maybe tiny conflict about struggles of pro-careers and some usual rh implications (maybe all the rh gay in dramas as always). Not some pure fanfiction coming to life here haha.

Like why I'm laughing is bc I twice used in my "fics" bringing up him leaving Haru as a force to push the confession, bc there's no way if he adresses this it won't lead to this. And now we not only have this (bc Haru just basically layed it out there), but an actual scene of him playing on their feelings for each other and a literal image of Rin leaving and "taking Haru's heart with him" to the point when he's for the first time in his life openly crying on the ground. And it's not like this scene can be interpreted as anything else, the whole fandom talks same, bc the whole fight was just about them, what Haru said was just about them, there's a literal boom of his heart getting out of his chest, before he falls and now he's heartless.

So our question is like... why go there?

It's like some say that they might still resolve it with "they're special to each other" and swimming, but still like we already knew that, there was no reason to go that far is what I'm saying. And to think that it was planned since forever giving the clues is like... ???

The whole spoon theme also throw me on the loop because like, lets be honest, it's wedding themed. And that part of the interview about part 2 there also made me go...?????? Because I mean, huh?

This is just all in all very interesting turn of events to say the least. I do not see the point of all of this if its not what I think it is, esp after seeing tweets like "even I see a rh wedding and I'm mh T_T". It's just all very unsubtle, that's why we're confused.

Like who knows, maybe we'll really by some magic turn of events get lucky and they really decided that since its the ending, it's okay to go for it. But I also don't wanna to hype myself much, I'm already really happy with it, just bc again, this scene already proves all of my points.

And yeah, I'm sure they'll pander to everyone, bc it's the end and etc and we have to handle everything on the good note and there's a whole line of ppl who's obsessed with us, esp with Haru xD, but like bromance pandering and romance pandering are different things, you know *wiggles eyebrows* and u know who always gets the second one.

The story... I know it's like the modern version of beauty and the beast.. tho also with some twists hahaha

I knew the popular girl actually like the one who love canoeing so much, since the beginning scene where she glanced on him while doing the marching band.

I wonder how Suzu can upload a photo with a lot of her friend faces for her U biometric thingy...?? That's why Bell's face kinda similar to Luka's face but also has Suzu's freckles, right? Hahaha

I wonder whom this movie want to paired Suzu with... Shinobu? Or Kei? Hmm? I thought Suzu has a crush on Shinobu, but she ,as Belle, really curious with Dragon. But in the end Shinobu actually want to protect Suzu as her guardian (mother)..so it's probably an unrequited love for Suzu. (Even Luka (or Hiro?) once said that Shinobu actually looks like being her mother).

I love the scene when Bell going to kiss dragon in the forehead, but realized that he wait for her expectedly but also shyly, thus she changed it into a warm hug instead, which is better, and this particular scene which made her realize that Dragon possibly still a child.

Kei..he said he loves her..his expression (eyes) softened when said that, both of them can be interpreted as romantic or platonic (tho the story of their connection pretty rushed in the RL). He's younger than her (14?) While Suzu maybe 16-17? so I am not sure.. maybe they'll together when they're older? (I mean 3 years different pretty normal lol)..maybe not now when all of them still traumatized..but after healing on their 20s? For a good relationship?

I wonder if his avatar in U gonna be changed after the mental healing?

I feel sad with Kei's brother.. (forgot his name, sorry). Probably has autism? But he seems to care and wanted to help his brother in his own way.. thus why he approached Bell..maybe he saw her as someone who could help his brother and both of them?

As for the main conflict, it resolves a bit weird tho.. since it seems the father too afraid with Suzu and cannot hit her even tho it's on an empty street (I don't think it could resolved that smoothly if really happened in RL). Why is he afraid?

Also..are they going to the police station after that? Reporting about abuse??

But anyway, it's still a very pretty movie!! And finally Suzu understand why her mother sacrificed herself for a stranger kid.. you know, it's ofc not because she wanted to playing a hero, but because she won't forgive herself if something bad happened to the stranger due to everyone just becoming a by stander..

Glad to watched it for the visual and soundtrack.. tho the story still...hmmmm it can be better.. especially the resolution about the children abuser, wish it can be more elaborate (and satisfying.. 😅)

PS. About the U world.. I wonder, for Suzu and Hiro could make dresses for Bell probably through monetization of the songs and performance.. but how can Kei and Tomo make the castle?
