So I have a new page @nuni-ohe , it's where I'm gonna post my Leauge of Extraordinary Gentlemen reinterpretation. Idk exactly what I'll post. It's mainly for inspiration, aesthetic, liking and sharing other interpretations.

It's funny how with my research, I wasn't afraid to put everything out there. Even stuff I shouldn't have. Yet with this, I'm hesitating. It comes down to insecurity, my ideas won't be good or they will and my ideas will get stolen, like my posts on here. 😅😭

Either way, I'll be posting on there. So if anyone's interested in literary classics being reimagined, that's what I gonna post there.

Sparkstember Day 11: Angst In My Pants (The Decline And Fall Of Me)

Album two of two in the series of Sparks' immaculate new wave releases! Iconic in every way imaginable from the music to the artwork to ONE music video. I think it's more musically (and lyrically!) varied and mature in tone (besides... a couple exceptions. Yes, an album called Angst In My Pants) than its predecessor, which is a very good development. These songs will leave you chuckling and bopping along and also pondering the intricacies of human existence. Ok, maybe that's a bit of a stretch, but it can't be denied that behind much of the earnestness and theatricality here, there's lots of quite emotional, introspective and thought-provoking stuff to be found.

Thematically, this album goes everywhere. One moment we are in Sextown U.S.A, the next we're visiting Disneyland, California where we make friends among people and animals. On a more serious note though, I think the biggest emotional whiplash one could experience between different songs on an album is between Mickey Mouse and Sherlock Holmes. And yet there's still a very prominent element of humour, even in those songs that are on the more serious or dramatic end of the scale.

I said a few days ago that I'd try to return to the topic of Sparks' brand of humour and how it works, but I don't feel intelligent enough to analyse that today. And I'm pretty sure that from what I've seen, Other People And The Maels Themselves (Said It Better Than Me). So instead, as a little send-off, please remember: if a mouse can be special, well, SO CAN YOU!!! 🫵

Favourite songs (and other highlights):

Angst In My Pants: literally no other song like this one in this world. I can't tell why that is but it's just. So great

I Predict: I had a weird kind of effect where I heard this song in my early days of Sparking and it felt VEEERY familiar to me. I think it was due to the genre / style here, it reminded me of something specific, at first I thought it was very glam rock but I'm pretty sure that this is not it but something else (and I don't know what to call it in that case!). Anyway, banger song

Tarzan And Jane: whoa wait, am I already skipping to the third-to-last song on the tracklist?? I guess I am. This one's great and one of my early favs too (I wonder how long it will take until I run out of things to say about my fav songs and it all just becomes this list of 'it's very good and I like it a lot. next.')

The Decline And Fall Of Me: it's great!! I like it!! And, of course, "check out my pizzas"

Eaten By The Monster Of Love: personal reasons that lead to a printed and framed mini-comic of my making appearing on my desk, which features some of the lyrics of this song, which caused me to have it permanently stuck in my head for a pretty long period of time. And this way I ended up liking it much much more than I did in the beginning, when it still seemed somehow pretty unremarkable to me

hmm okay my mum just said she forgot the keys and we were locked out of the house. Surprisingly, I didn’t mad or stressed and was just kinda laughing ab it and falling into hopelessness. Anyways then my mum revealed she was joking (common occurrence she loves to this kinda shit but I didn’t suspect it this time) and let us in. when we got in I commented on my slightly out of character chillness and she said ‘yk why? bc I didn’t get mad’. which I thought was interesting.

Revisited my Hel Sharena concepts and it was. A complete disaster actually. But I feel like I'm on the right track???

I have like. Maybe too many competing themes.

I really wanted a wolf in sheep's clothing motif, hence the ram horns and I planned on a wooly cape that's a shorter version of Henriette's. I was planning on designing a wolf-themed weapon.

I also wanted to call back to the Book 3 cover art, have her design also mimic Henriette in the way Lif's design mimics Gustav. I also thought it would be neat to keep elements of her base design as well -- the shorts and the belt at the waist. Plus the tiniest resemblance to Alfonse bc in my heart you cannot separate them (and if you do. Horrible things happen).

Most of all, I really wanted her to be a fun and silly character. Who's like. Actually a genuine threat. I was thinking of Junko Enoshima (sorry Danganronpa jumpscare), Heather Chandler (in the way that she speaks, literally I want to give her a bone chainsaw bc that's SO funny and also so fucking cool), and honestly a bit of Dahlia Hawthorne. Bad bitches only (ESP blonde bad bitches who haunt the narrative). Also just. Rage. Cannot forget the rage!

Plus! Here's the dress that inspired the heart cutout (thought it would look really cool w how Hel characters Are)

Finished the p4 anime tonight and i loved it. It made me laugh so much and gives Yu a lot of character. And there's so much souyo propoganda like holy shit, yosuke saves yu THREE TIMES and yosuke's s link rank 10 REALLY set it up for if you replaced him saying "i want you to hit me" with "i love you" it would not feel unnatural with any of the prior dialogue. There's also smaller stuff (*cough* school festival *cough*) and it's all so funny. I think watching the anime was a rly good idea because it gave me more p4 content and it was generally a fun time.

It makes me sad that the anime messed up Teddie though. Idk if I've ever talked about this on here but i always talk to my friends about how he is not supposed to be making bear puns the second you meet him in the TV world, he's supposed to be a stupid timid little creature that doesnt know anything, and through you getting to know him and him getting to know you he becomes the silly little guy everyone knows him as now, but it feels like all adaptations of p4 just forget that. I think I've seen a few panels of the beginning of the p4 manga that also do the same thing of making him annoying right off the bat. He's one of my favorite characters and it makes me really upset to see adaptations completely butcher his character development.

That's really my one major complaint about the anime though. I wish it had more time to do stuff cuz it felt a liiittle bit rushed at the end BUT i think the pacing of everything is pretty well done. Overall i love the anime and im really glad i decided to watch it.

I don't want to fall victim to any sort of superiority complex (lowkey proud to admit I think I can manage it better tho), but really, one of the only ways I can make going out for drinks in group more interesting for me is by shifting the conversation of a smaller group to some discussion of sort on topics people seem knowledgeable or passionate about. Only way I'm willing to put up with all the noise and chaos lol
