Note

You have been granted the oppurtunity to recast your favorite animated movie! The only catch is that each of the characters in said movie are animated characters from different shows/movies (X from show/movie is Bob, X from show/movie is Larry, ect.)

Hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo boi. You have no idea what you’ve just unleashed, my friend!

Once long ago, before the Cringe Ages, I loved recasting my favourite and sometimes least favourite movies with characters from my favourite shows. But then I started taking storytelling more seriously and sentimentally and… art-y, and I started acting as if I was above the stuff somehow. To this day, I still don’t know whether to blame the masses or my own hubris.

But now! Now, the floodgates of my childish, innocent mind are open once more! And I have just the idea: The Nightmare Before Christmas but with Villainous and Batman* characters! (With a few CN villains on the side.) So, I guess you could call it…

The Villainous Nightmare Before Batman!

(No, wait. Uhhhhh…)

The Dark Knight Before Villainous!

Ok, yeah, that should do.

Now you’re probably asking yourself, “Dapper Critter, what are you doing this? Sure, Batman meets Villainous could work, but why are you bringing The Nightmare Before Christmas into this? It’s not even Halloween or Christmas! What are you thinking?!” Well, first of all, Christmas and Halloween aren’t just holidays, they’re states-of-mind. Second, I think it’s time you guys learned something important: I’m a big ol’ lowkey goth baby, baby! If it’s spooky or gothic, I’ll soak it up like a sponge in sink full of soapy water. And nothing says gothic like the hero of a city literally called “Gotham,” a show with a grotesque monster hiding behind the guise of a well-dressed man, and the classic story of Jack Skellington himself! What’s more, all three of these hold a special place in my heart, as they all played a huge part in helping me develop and realize my interest in gothic culture. Lastly, I can see the worlds of these three stories coming together quite easily. Behold, this plot pitch I just made!

“Another Halloween has come and gone in CN City, and another cheerful Christmas is on its way. Black Hat, unofficial master of all that is dark and evil, is thoroughly disgusted that the multiverse will soon be returning to it’s obnoxiously cheerful and wholesome state. He morosely tears a hole through time and space to talk a walk through reality, miserable that he’s stuck living in such a wonderful place. That is until he stumbles upon the city of Gotham, where no matter what time of year it is, the streets are filled with misery and malicious mayhem. Delighted, he sets out to celebrate Christmas his own way: by taking a certain caped-crusader out of the picture and making Gotham his very own holiday vacation home! Little does he know, there’s one special girl who thinks he can celebrate right where he is, as well as a certain clown who’s got his own sinister Christmas party in mind…”

So now that I’ve convinced you, I think it’s time we got down to the actual recasting! Let’s begin, my darling children of the Hot Topic night…

Black Hat as Jack Skellington: This couldn’t have been easier—they’re both creepy gentlemen with excellent taste in fashion. Yes, I know Black Hat is a lot less nice than our dear Pumpkin King, but let’s just say this story takes the odd liberty here and there. Not to mention, Black Hat could easily match Jack’s enthusiasm, intelligence, style, and obsessive inquisitions. Plus, he could totally pull off an evil Santa suit. (Though to be honest, I’m not sure if his snarling, slimy, cockney-accented voice could match Danny Elfman’s melodious singing.)

Demencia as Sally: A devoted, mildly ghoulish, and totally cute fangirl who’s always pining after their darling idol, and who may or may not have been made in a lab? It’s like this fancast is writing itself! Demencia might be a bit more proactive—and scary—in the plot, but I can see her a lot Sally’s dilemma in her as she tries to get Black Hat to notice her and not to abandon them in pursuit of a crazy dream. (Well, that I’m filthy Lizardhat trash.)

Dr. Flug as Dr. Finklestein: Flug, being the only mad scientist who’s employed by Black Hat, as well as the only to survive this, seems like a good pick. Sure, he’s not in a wheelchair and, no, he’s not as creepy as the bugger, but he could still work as our horrid hero’s right-hand man. Plus, since a big part of his canon character is putting up with Demencia’s BS (tell my family that means “baloney-sandwich”), he’d also do great as the one trying to keep the free-spirited love interest under control. Only here, it would be because he’s trying to keep Dem out of trouble so she doesn’t make his boss mad and try to kill him, as opposed to… whatever Finklestein’s problem is. And of course, he can still be menacing if need be. (Just watch the Lost Cases of Townsville and The Tree House…)

5.0.5. as Zero: A cute animal sidekick is a cute animal sidekick, I always say! And 5.0.5. was basically designed to be the ultimate cutesy animal sidekick. Therefore, he can be basically do anything Zero did. Try to cheer up Black Hat? Check. Pull Black Hate’s sleigh? Why couldn’t he? Yeah, he can’t be a flying ghost dog with a glowing nose, but I could just throw bedsheet on him (it was just after Halloween after all) and maybe say he swallowed that anti-gravity device.

Batman as Santa Claus: For Santa Clause, I needed someone who could be the absolute good guy in a world filled with bad guys and weirdos, much like Santa was in the movie. Likewise, since Jack kidnapped Santa to take over Christmas, Black Hat would need to kidnap the guy in charge of Gotham in order to take it for himself. So, of course he’s going to go after it’s #1 protector. I can also see Batman being the voice of reason in this madcap story. Not to mention that he could pull off a Santa suit even better than Black Hat! (In fact…)

The Joker as Oogie Boogie: This one I had some trouble with. I kept asking myself stuff like, “who would be brave enough to usurp Black Hat?,” “who could match Oogie’s siz—er, presence?” or “who would want to kidnap Santa Claus?,” and “Who would be into gambling and crazy funhouse stuff?” And then it came to me: The Joker. I mean, he’s got charisma, a sense of menace, he’s a cutthroat who loves to play with his enemies, and almost always has a big ol’ amusement park deathtrap on hand. Sure, he wouldn’t have the creepy demise like Oogie, but he could get a good beating and traumatizing from Black Hat and/or Demencia (who’d really hate being a damsel in distress, I imagine).

The Delightful Children from Down the Lane as Lock, Shock, and Barrel: At first, I thought of using other Batman villains or Shannon, Darrell, and Ernesto from OK K.O.!, but then I thought it would make more sense to have child villains from a CN show who could do bad things for slime-balls like Black Hat and Joker with pleasure. I instantly thought of these scheming, little monsters from Codename: Kids Next Door (an old favourite of mine). Although they’re usually talk and act in unison, they could have some comical bickering now and then. (After all, “Lenny is an idiot.”) Likewise, I can see Black Hat using Batman’s affinity for young people to get him while his guard’s down. They could make for great trick r’ treaters as well!

Lord Boxman as The Mayor: The mayor wasn’t a very important character, but he was definitely a memorable one, and the first character I thought of who could match his dual personality was Lord Boxman from OK K.O.! They both act like leaders but are really terrible at their jobs, suck up to better villains, and throw a whimpering tantrum like nobody else. (Also, I get to imagine Jim Cummings singing lines from The Nightmare Before Christmas songs, so that’s nice.)

Various CN Villains as The Citizens of Halloween Town: Like with The Mayor and the Trick R’ Treaters, I like to think that the various CN villains who cameoed in the Villainous Orientation series would show up as the denizens of the seedier side of CN City which—as you probably guessed—would be standing in for Halloween Town. Unfortunately, I do not have an encylcopediac knowledge of either Halloween Town residents, nor CN villains, so I’ll just list the ones I can remember and am the most proud of without offering any real justification.

Nohyas as Mr. Hyde: I couldn’t think of anyone besides Black Hat with a fancy hat or smaller versions of himself. Nohyas just so happens to have a suitable villain’s hat, and Handre (his hand puppet) could work in place of tiny clones living under his hats. (And yes, I like Mighty Magiswords. Deal with it.)

Zombozo as Clown with the Tear-Away Face: I don’t believe all creepy clowns look the same, but a ghoulish clown could easily stand in for another. Plus, I used to be a big Ben 10 fan, so I thought I ought to work something in.

Donny as Behemoth: This grass ogre from Adventure Time was more of an outright jerk than Behemoth, but he has a softer side so that would make him a great candidate for a resident gentle giant.

Loony Toons’ Dracula, Billy and Mandy’s Dracula, and Count Spankula as The Vampire Brothers: Do I really need to explain this one?

The Red Guy as Devil: I sure don’t need to elaborate on this one.

The Gangreen Gang as the Zombie Band: The Gangreens were basically based off edgy bands of the late 90’s, and thanks to Gorillaz, we know Ace can play the bass like a boss. Also, I can totally hear Ace saying, “Nice work, bone-daddy.”

Earl (AKA Dopey Black Hat) as Igor: Earl doesn’t get enough to do, inside or outside of Villainous canon.

The Beast as The Hanging Tree: Yeah, I know, I’m messed-up.

HIM as Harlequin Demon: Seriously, this one cast itself!

The Queen of the Black Puddle as Undersea Gal: I don’t watch Courage the Cowardly Dog much, but I remember seeing this villainess once before and I instantly thought she’d be a dead-ringer!

Morbidia and Gateaux as The Witches: Another natural casting derived from my soft spot for Mighty Magiswords. Although Gateaux is a male and a tall one at that, he’s perfect for being a huge suck-up. (I originally considered Miss Endive from Chowder and Duchess from Fosters’ Home for Imaginary Friends, but then I remembered that no matter what they dressed-up as, they’d be unlikeable.)

Monstrous Black Hat as The Monster Under the Bed: Like Earl and the other Black Hat clones, he doesn’t get enough love. (Though this may be a good thing, since he seems too nasty to receive or return it…)

Rob as The Melting Man: There aren’t a lot of CN villains who are melting, per se, but I figured this poor bad guy from Amazing World of Gumball and his unique media-mixed malformity could work.

Biowolf as The Wolfman: Because they’re both well designed wolfmen and I refuse to forget Generator Rex.

The Robins, Batgirl, and Alfred as the Elves: If Batman’s going to be Santa, then his support staff/family might as well be his helpers. Not to mention, they’d look great in cute little elf outfits happily working on Batman’s gadgets in preparation for the big Christmas crime wave.

The Justice League as The Army: Someone needs to show up to shoot-down Black Hat and his idea of Christmas at the end, and since he’s kidnapped Batman, I think it only makes sense that the Justice League would retaliate and come to clean up Black Hat’s mess. He’d also get a reminder that he isn’t just in Gotham City, he’s in the DC universe.

Unikitty as The Easter Bunny: I have my reasons. Them being, Unikitty is good at being sweet and innocent, the episode “Batkitty,” and her world is one of the few Black Hat has interacted with so far. I like to think that’s because he’s too repulsed by her cuteness to touch it. So imagine his reaction when the Delightful Children bring him to her by accident while she’s cosplaying as LEGO Batman or something.

And there you have it! I had a lot of fun making this recast. It was a great way to step out of my comfort zone and to have some fun. Not to mention, I had an excuse to listen to the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack early. I sincerely hope you like it as much as I do, @good-guy-is-alive!

Now I just need to make sure Black Hat himself doesn’t see this, or else he might find me and—

Song stuck in my head: this one orchestral version of MGMT's Kids i heard on 8tracks at like 1am last night Changed My Life. also ive had Nuno Leão's Portuguese cover of Camila Cabello's I Have Questions stuckin my head for a few days, now. look it up on youtube, it's good

Other blogs: i made another one for my survey but since ive got all the responces i need and the survey is now closed, the blog is of little use to me. side note: the survey was a success! thanks again to everyone who participated or helped spread it around! im working on the paper now. everything should be done around mid-April

Amount of sleep: rare good night is 8hrs, weekends are 4 or 5 hrs, average weeknight is 6 or 7 hrs.

Lucky Number: i go based on the number's vibe at the time more than anything, but 6 and 7 are usually safe bets. a lot of single digit numbers are meaningful to me, actually. really 3 thru 7 and also 9. 12 is good. 21 and 23 are good in different ways. hm. i guess the best answer is 7, thats might be my favorite. bright red.

What I’m wearing: still morning here, so im in bed in my pajamas. loose baggy pajama pants and an old black t-shirt.

Dream job: i start my first year of university in the fall. i'll be majoring in mechanical engineering. in a perfect world, i'd go on to get a masters in robotics. i want to be wherever innovation takes me. i want to make robots, yeah, but i also want to apply robotics to other areas. and i kinda wanna do a little of everything else, too. martial arts, swordsmanship, storytelling, writing, drawing, international travel, fluency in other languages, a jack of all trades.

Favorite food: honestly put a runny egg yolk over it and it's intantly ten times better

Dream trip: i l o v e big cities, so seeing new york never gets old. i wanna see tokyo. id like to learn Japanese and actually live for a while in Japan to work and study in one of the world centers of robotics innovation. also it just sounds nice.

Play any instruments: i used to be one hell of an oboist, but oboes are expensive, so now that im not in a band anymore, i dont have access to one. i play a bit of guitar, just whatever ive taught myself over the years messing w the one sitting on my room

Languages: I'm only fluent in English. I took two years of German and I retain what I learn, so I don't speak any usually but I'm not half bad at hearing/reading and understanding it. I know only the very very beginnings of ASL, just enough to get by, really. I'm slowly learning more from webinars in my spare time

Random fact: im perming my virgin hair today bc why not i guess

so, funny things seem to happen when you directly compare [play at the same time against each other] the music videos for - Otsukimi Recital [of all songs] and - Outer Science ... while trying to find more Outer Science parallels ..... ... and then compare those findings to other things too ..... [bonus: some novel 8 spoiler bits from recent translations] [ even if this ends up being totally false maybe consider it like a fic that wrote itself? (hhhha) ] [ but seriously please try comparing the two videos by playing them at the exact same time against each other, some parts time up timing wise surprisingly well! ] [ also it’s very amusing ] [ also includes some “Additional Memory” arc from Manga Route analysis ]

A very old fic to prove a point

So here's it is. This wasn't written during high school so uhhhhh... yeah. A cringy self insert fic coming your way, prepare for: A Hetalia Unit Tale

“Thank you so much for watching the house for us dear, we will text you from the airport when we arrive there and when we land to tell you that we’re all right, I hope that this isn’t a bother for you.” My mom said placing the last piece of luggage into the car.

“I told you that it’s fine and I really don’t mind. Have a safe and fun trip okay.” I smiled at her reassuringly.

“Are you sure. I know that you have that graphic artist job that can be pretty demanding.” She looked me with concern.

“Mom, I already told you that I can work from just about anywhere. I just need to have my things. And my deadlines are not too terribly soon except for the few that I have most of the work done on. I’ll be fine.” I put a hand on her shoulder.

“Honey say goodbye to Kari, we need to go.” My dad called from the driver’s seat chuckling at the fuss my mom was making.

“Alright, here are the keys, I hope that the boys remember that we won’t be home and don’t try to bother you. You know they like to pop up unexpectedly sometimes.” She smiled at me and laughed. Yeah they do, don’t they. “Oh! Before I forget, I ordered you something that I think you will really like, it is probably going to be here this afternoon okay.” And with that she hugged me and got into the car.

“Bye, don’t have too much fun.” I laughed as I waved them off. Once the car had made it to the top of the street I turned around and entered the house. Seeing that I still had to unpack my things I set about pulling in my few boxes of clothes and other things out of my own car. By the time that I was done putting my things in the master bedroom, which my parents had allowed me to claim while they went on vacation, it had just turned one in the afternoon.

“I guess that lunch is in order.” I said to myself, something I normally did when there was no one around to talk to. Just as I reached the last step of the stairs the doorbell rang out. “Coming!” I called out. Opening the door I found a man in a ghastly shade of mint green with a ridiculously large package stationed behind him.

“Are you Karina Anderson?” The delivery man asked. Did mom really get me something that big?

“Yes.” I managed to breathe out after looking at the package for another minute.

“I’ll need you to sign here please miss.” He passed me the signature pad and I quickly scrawled my signature on the line. “There’s one more box, let me grab that real quick and then I’ll help you bring them inside.” He turned back to his truck and got out a significantly smaller box from the back of the truck.

Why didn’t he pull that out before he rang the doorbell? I questioned watching him roll the box up and into the front hall and helped him get the much larger box over the edge of the door. “Is that everything?” I asked looking at the two boxes and then back to him hoping there wasn’t anything else.

“Yep that’s everything today.” He laughed. “Good luck getting the boxes open and have a good day.” He walked out the front door and onto the porch.

“Thanks, you too.” I watched him climb into the truck and take off before shutting the door and locking it again. Turning to the boxes, I was trying to figure out the best way to open the larger one without the contents spilling out everywhere, when I noticed a manila envelope on top of the smaller box that I hadn’t noticed when I had helped the delivery man get the boxes in. “What’s this?” I asked no one in particular as I grabbed the envelope and walked into the kitchen and quickly made a peanut butter sandwich. After sitting down at the table I opened the envelope to find a manual of sorts.

“Ludwig Beilschmidt/ Germany Unit Manual.” I stared blankly at the cover. “What on Earth is a Unit?”

Setting the manual down I rubbed my face with my hands and stared at the two boxes in the front room. This had to be some sort of mistake, so I decided that I should call the company and tell them to take the unit back, I grabbed the telephone and dialed the number. While it would be interesting to see what he's like I just don't want to deal with an extra mouth to feed and take care of. Especially since it seems there will be more units just by what the manual says.

“Hello, this is Flying Mint Bunny and Co., how may I help you?” A woman’s voice came out of the speaker.

“Hello, my name is Karina Anderson and I just received a Ludwig Beilschimdt/ Germany unit and I didn’t order one.” I put a hand against my forehead.

“One moment please.” I heard some typing on a keyboard in the background as I waited. “Yes, Karina Anderson, you’re a pretty strange case. The units are supposed to come to you, but it was your mother that ordered them for you.”

“What?” I was dumbfounded.

“Yes that is what pretty much everyone who has seen your information page has said.” She sounded like she was on the verge of laughter. I sighed internally. Why would you do this mom? Are you trying to kill me or something? “It seems that there is a note on your file from your mother. Would you like me to read it to you?”

“Yes please.”

“Kari, I was looking online and I found these units things. I knew that we were going on vacation soon so I thought these would be something fun for you to look forward to.” She read off. “That is the end of the message. Unfortunately since you are not the actual person who purchased the units you are unable to return them and you are unable to see the units that are selected to be delivered. Is there anything else that I can do for you?”

“No that will be all for today.”

“Alright, I do have one more thing that I need you to do.” She again seemed to be stifling a chuckle. “Because you have called the customer service line you are eligible to get a free additional unit of your choice from a selection. The choices that are available to you are: Prussia, Austria, Romano, and Hungary.”

I was about ready to reach through the phone and bash the lady's head in when she spewed that line out of her mouth. "And what if I would not like to get another unit?" I tried to sound like I wasn't about to commit murder.

"I'm afraid that you are not allowed to refuse the unit selection ma'am. Do you need me to tell you the selection again?" She seemed a little irritated that I would try to refuse. Who wouldn't want to refuse? It's a pretty big deal to handle taking care of additional people, let alone yourself.

Grinding my teeth a bit out of frustration. I semi-hissed that I did not need her to repeat the list and that I would take Hungary as the unit I would receive. After she confirmed the address and order I hung up the phone and moved the plate that my sandwich had been on over to the counter by the sink. I then proceeded to head-desk multiple times. Over the past thirty minutes my easy house sitting gig had turned into a babysitting gig. Sitting at the table with my head on it for another minute I figured that I should just get it over with, but since I was annoyed with the whole situation I went with option three from the manual. Running over to the crate I quickly opened the lid after setting it on it's side as gently as I could and ran upstairs and hid in Zach’s, my youngest brother, closet which was the furthest from the front room where the crate was sitting. I practiced a few sentences in an Italian accent until I hit on Italy’s voice and shouted out.

“GERMANY HELP ME! SAVE ME GERMANY!” I yelled as loud as I could while still retaining the accent. Just as I started to congratulate myself about still being able to do the voice I heard the sound of wood breaking. Crap I hope there isn’t any damage from him breaking open the crate. I sat there listening to the pounding of feet throughout the downstairs of the house. Sitting the closet trying my best to stifle my humor I suddenly heard a voice call out that could only be Germany.

“Italy where are you?” I heard the unit say in the main hallway. Wow, it really sounds like Germany, a panicked Germany, don’t hear that every day. As the unit’s footsteps grew closer to my hiding spot I decided to scare the crap out of the unit. I waited until it was just about to open the closet door before jumping up.

“BOO!” I yelled out causing the unit, actually I should say guy, well, more like poor guy from what I'd just done, to jump up a good foot in the air and two feet back.

Staring at me for a minute in surprise and shock his face melted into confusion, hey I’d be confused too if a full grown woman jumped out of the closet and yelled ‘boo’ at me, and started to boil into anger. “Was that you who called out?” He seethed switching to a lower voice. Taking in his face I realized that I played a prank on the wrong kind of person. I'm going to get it aren't I? That was so stupid. I bet he's going to hate me and think I'm really weird.

“Yeah, sorry, I am Karina Anderson, but I go by Kari. I am taking care of this house for my parents while they are gone. I was expecting a small package because my mom said that she got me something and then a delivery guy comes with your crate and I called the company and I was forced to get another unit so I took out my frustration at the situation by freaking you out sorry about that.” I rubbed the back of my head after speed talking about the situation to him.

He stared at me for a minute which sort of unnerved me. Thinking that I was most likely doomed he finally spoke up. “Whatever, just don’t mimic Italy again like that, I thought you were actually him. Where are we anyways?” He asked looking around to take in his surroundings.

“Well we are in Washington State in the US. We are on the west side, it rains a lot more here and it's usually grey most of the time.” I replied. I was glad that my Italy impression did sound pretty realistic, I had cosplayed him back in college, and the uniform is in one of the boxes I brought with me. Suddenly I heard his stomach growl causing him to blush slightly out of embarrassment. “Here, for letting me freak you out I’ll make you some lunch.” I offered to get on the better side of the unit that I would be living with from now on.

“Thank you. Do you have any wurst?” He took up my offer.

“I think so. Let me check. If I don’t do you have something else you want?” I replied as we walked back downstairs.

“Whatever you have will do, as long as it isn’t something Alfred would eat.” He frowned.

‘Geez, I shouldn’t have made him freak out like that.’ I thought to myself, I had already managed to piss off someone that was going to live with me for a really long time. “Hey, while I’m thinking about it, do you prefer your country name or your human name?” I asked. He did refer to America as Alfred, but I thought I’d stay on the safe side and ask.

“You can use Germany or Ludwig if you wish, though if we are in public only use Ludwig.” He curtly answered.

“Alright Ludwig it is. That way if we are out and about I’ll already be used to that name.” I smiled at him as we entered the kitchen. I see no damage to anything which is good. I thought to myself after a quick glance into the front room. I walked over to the fridge and shuffled through the meat drawer. Luckily since I was watching the house my parents had stocked up on some of the necessities. I found a package of sausage at the very bottom of the drawer.

“Victory! I’ll just make the whole package so we have some leftovers.” I exclaimed. I pulled out a tray to the Advantium microwave oven (If you don’t know what that is, it basically is a really awesome microwave that can also cook things like frozen pizzas.) and put the sausages on the tray.

“Do you have any family?” Ludwig asked trying to make a bit of conversation. I guess that he wasn’t as pissed off with my antics as I thought he was. Or Italy has put him through worse. At least he doesn't seem to totally hate me.

“Yes, my parents are travelling together right now and I’m not positive where my brothers are. My parents told the two of them that they were going on a vacation, they should be in college right now, but they might unexpectedly show up sometime in the near future.” I laughed a bit. “Liam is in Oregon and Zach is down in California. They tend to go on radio silence for a bit, during which they make plans for a surprise visit, then randomly pop up when you least expect it.” I said pulling the now cooked sausage out of the microwave. I put one on a plate for Ludwig and sat down with him at the table as I had already eaten lunch.

“I see. When will your parents be back, and if they do show up, when your brothers will come?” He asked.

“My parents are gone for however long they feel like, they always wanted to travel around the world so they will be trying to go to every country they want to, they have a boat that they will be using for a some destinations and airplane for the rest, which is probably why my mom decided that getting you and a bunch of other units was a good idea so that I wouldn’t be lonely. My brothers, it probably will be two to four months before they come, though more like two knowing them.”

“Your mom got you us?” He looked really confused by the possibility that a mother would get units for their daughter. “I’m sorry if that was a bit rude, but normally it is a pop up ad, random selection, or a direct purchase that gets people units.”

“No you’re good. Though it was my mom surprisingly, I had never heard of Hetalia units until today. Apparently she was doing some online shopping and remembered that I liked Hetalia and as a bonus found the website.” I sighed.

“Also, apparently every time you call the company you get another unit, so Hungary is going to come. Before you ask, I was told that the information about who and when is only available to my mom.”

“What were the other units that they offered you?”

“Romano, Austria, and Prussia. There was no way I was going to pick those three willingly, plus I wanted at least one other girl knowing that the probability of getting some female company was rather low.” I remembered more about the show now that I had been talking with Ludwig for a while and recalled that there were only about five girl characters from the anime. ‘I really need to rewatch the series and catch up on the manga if I’m going to be getting more of these units.’ I thought to myself. ‘Besides, the more girls I get early on probably the saner everything will be, except Belarus, yeah, except Belarus.’

“I see. Good choice, I didn’t want to deal with Romano or my bruder yet. I don’t think Austria would be at all happy here either.” He sighed. I noticed that he’d finished up lunch, probably a while ago as we'd been talking for some time, and so I got up to put his plate by the sink. ‘Why wouldn’t Austria be happy here? Oh, right I don’t have a grand piano, well there is the electric one, if it isn’t gone, and there is more music than I know what to do with on the media server my dad set up… Geez, focus Karina, priorities.’

“Well, I guess a room would be in order for you.” I walked towards the stairs. “Will this do?” I led him to Zach’s old room, the same one he found me in earlier.

“Yes, Danke.” He’d grabbed what was in his crate and the smaller box and brought it to his room. I remembered the warranty statement in the manual suddenly for some reason so I walked downstairs and marked what day it was on the manual not realizing that Ludwig had followed me downstairs.

“What did you write down?” Ludwig came up behind me.

“I was just marking the date on your manual so that we can get the warranty extension when it expires.” I looked up from the manual. Placing it on a box that I hadn’t taken upstairs I went back into the kitchen. Looking at the clock I realized that it was a good time to break for dinner. “Do you want leftovers or would you like to order something?” I asked him.

“Leftovers will be fine.” He replied. I nodded and went to heat up the sausages from lunch.

“Do you want to watch a movie after dinner?” I asked pulling the sausages out.

“Yeah that sounds nice.” We sat and ate. After I pulled the dishes into the dishwasher I went over to the PS3 that my parents kept.

“What would you like to watch?” I asked pulling up the movie list on the PS3. He looked a bit overwhelmed by all of the titles that I was scrolling through.

“I don’t mind if you want to pick.” He shrugged leaning back. I smiled and scrolled down to Singing in the Rain my all-time favorite musical. Hitting the play button we sat in a comfortable silence throughout the movie. When we hit the credits I looked at the clock noticing that it was already nine.

“I know it is a bit early, but I have to set up my equipment tomorrow, so I’m going to head upstairs and get ready for bed.” I got up from the couch. He nodded and got up to. Upon reaching the top of the stairs I turned back to him.

“Good night, Ludwig.” I said moving to my room and shutting the door behind myself.

“Gut Nacht, Karina.”

OH MAN OH BOY UHHHHH

Wow this is harder than I expected so I’m just gonna rank them cause all of my characters tend to lie to some sort of degree whether the intentions behind the lie were good or not. I’m going to rank them from MOST honest to least honest so here gooooooes!

1. William Thompson - Despite being a theater kid/actor the kid’s the most honest one I got lmao

2. Mark Callaghan - While he’s a passive aggressive little jerk and tries to side step direct confrontation he is probably far /too/ honest in other ways to be far down on this list (especially when it comes to people he is interested in romantically/sexually)

3. Garret Callaghan - Garret isn’t an active liar or anything but W O W I E Z O W I E he will deny anything is wrong until his back is absolutely against the wall and he HAS TO admits what is going on. He never wants to be a burden for anyone else and wants to handle his problems on his own without worrying others, even if it kills him in the process.

4. Miri Frei - O M G! While she can be brutally rude and blunt to the point of absurdity her latest arc saw her lie about her feelings for Ian for a /season/ and drag him through hell simply because she was afraid to be alone. She is not above lying long term to get what she feels she deserves, even if she is a flimsy and terrible liar when pressed.

5. Lena Cohen - Oh, Lena. She isn’t untrustworthy really but this poor girl is so terrified of not being accepted by others she will do everything in her power to keep anything that threatens that a secret. Negative emotions/topics/etc are terrifying for her to share because of this fear and she would rather die than ever face those issues head on unless she is absolutely pressed. She’s also a master at making up on-the-fly BS if it can serve her end goals, but they’re always ridiculous white lies and her intention is never to harm anyone. Lena usually resorts to the BS for silly stuff anyway but I think if she needed she would do the same for something serious.

6. Maurice Charbonnier (J.J. White) - Uh, yeah. His whole “Maurice” identity is a lie. He’s my character worst at honesty and probably will never get better. Not sure if I’d want it any other way.

11. Pieces of an unknown puzzle

It had been 2 weeks since I had fallen asleep while Peter and I were supposed to be working on our project, which we aced by the way. Summer starts in 2 days and while I was glad, I couldn’t escape the dread of an upcoming anniversary. May 19th, the day our lives became hell. The day our parents died.

“It’s alright, Eve. We got this.” Sam said, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear as she seemingly read my mind. “Shall I drive you to school?” “Yeah.” i say with a small smile. The ride is mostly silent until my sister tell me to have a good day. “Yeah, I’ll try.” I say as I look around for M.J. who is with Ned and Peter is no where to be seen. With how much school that boy misses I’m surprised he’s still passing.

“Hey, M.J. where is Peter?” I ask and she just shakes her head. As we walk we talk about what we did over the weekend but as soon as Ned walks to his class M.J. smiles largely, pulling her nose out of her book and wiggles her eye brows at me.

“What?” I laugh, already knowing where this is going. “So are you going to tell me what’s going on with you and Pete yet? I’ve never had a best friend but I’m pretty sure that this is not how it works. You’re supposed to tell me everything.” M.J. says using her hands to speak.

“Why do you insist something is going on?” I fire back with a smile on my face.

“The midnight meet ups. The fact that when he’s here you 2 are basically stuck at the hip. Oh and don’t think we don’t notice how much happier you both are around each other.” M.J. counts the list on her fingers, pointing the last one at me. “So are you guys…?” She didn’t have to finish the sentence, what she was implying was clear. My face heated to a blush.

“No..We’re just..” I think of the easiest way to explain what exactly it was that I had with Peter Parker. Just Just friends. Just Best Friends. Just best friends who have kissed. Just friendly flirting. Just movie marathon cuddle buddies. Just friends with crushes, who are too shy to do anything about it.

“Juust?” M.J. asked bating her eyelashes innocently. “Just best friends is all.” I say before going into my class. It was a quiet and lonely hour with out Peter and I found my self looking at snapchats we had taken of each other and pictures we had sent each other. I smile to my self as I look at him.

God, he’s as close to perfect as it gets.

I put my phone away and decide I need a bathroom break. “Ma'am? Can I go use the loo?” A round of laughs and a displeased grunt coupled with a nod and I was walking through the hallway.

I should have been paying at attention but I was texting Pete, trying to find out where the hell he was. If I hadn’t been staring at my phone I would have seen the person I slammed into before I slammed into them..I fell straight on my ass.

“Oh god. Eve I am so sorry. I shouldn’t have been in such a rush..” The person who just so ended up to be Ned, said quickly helping me to my feet. “Nah, it’s okay. It was my fault.” I said brushing off my pants. “So what are you doing Ned?” I ask gesturing to the head set he was sporting; my question seemed to catch him off guard, making him appear more nervous than he usually was.

“Uhhhhh….Just guy in the chair stuff.” I raised an eye brow. Then it hit me, a faded memory of a couple weeks before.

“But the only people who know who I am are my guy in the chair….” First the same nickname and now….No. No way. My mind was just trying to connect something that isn’t even there. Always had a big imagination.. There is no bloody way in hell that Peter Bloody Parker is running around Queens in red and blue spandex.

“What does mean, Ned?” I ask and he becomes increasingly nervous.

You over analyze things Genevieve. My mother had said to me one night when I had come home from a sleep over crying because I thought the other girls were being mean.

“Uhhhhhhmmm……I’m part of an online gaming community that battles mythical creatures.” He says before all but running away. Even after school ends for summer that conversation, Ned’s nervousness stay in the back of my mind…It just gave me a feeling and for some reason no matter how hard I tried I could not for the life of me ignore it.

6:14 pm From Petey-Pie Hey! Wanna go get some ice cream?

My phone buzzed, I smiled after reading the text.

6:15 Me: Sure

Petey-PieCoo! Pick you up…

There was a knock on my door and then my phone buzzed again.

6:16 Petey-Pie Now!

I jump up and run to the door. “Okay, but you gotta give me a minute to change first.” I say as I walk back to my room. Peter is stopped in front of the door. His eyes wide, roaming my outfit. “You look fine like that Gen.” There was that name again. “Come on, lets go.” Peter said before dragging me by my wrist out of my front. I look down at my outfit and cringe at the variety of animal prints on the stretchy leggings and the crop top showing my horribly pale stomach. My hair in a bun on top of my head. Face makeup-less

“So what does a huge nerd like yourself do in the summer. When school is over for an entire 3 months.?” I asked being overly dramatic, earning a heart stopping, stomach dropping smile from Peter. We continue walking the streets of Queens.

“Well, uhm, I usually just focus on my internship. They, uh, They keep me pretty busy this time of year. They have retreats sometimes…Uh…Mr. Stark, he uhm, he says working in the field is a good thing for an intern to, uhhh, to get use to.” Peter says and I cock an eyebrow at him. “Mr. Stark?” I ask, “As in the Tony Stark?” I ask. Sure I had heard about his internship with Stark Industries, but I didn’t think he had ever actually met the Tony Stark. Not even Sam had met him.

We walked into a little ice cream parlour, Peter insisted it was the best in New York.

“Well, yeah I guess so.” Peter says as he leads the way to the counter. “Go pick a booth, what do yo want?” “Uhhh, surprise me” I say as I walk to the farthest booth, it had a nice view of the surrounding city buildings. Peter came back holding 2 ice creams and smiling like a bloody idiot. I laughed as I seen the Spider-Man logo on the cup. The cup had red and blue syrup over vanilla ice cream and was sprinkled with black sugar on the top. There were also 3 cherries place on top.

“Glad that made you smile.” Peter says sitting down. The syrup ended up being strawberry flavored and I personally hate strawberry after I drank over half a body of the stuff as a dare back in 6th year. I got sick and have just hated stawberry anything sense then.

I tell Peter all of this, back story included and he gave me his ice cream after laughing at me for a solid 5 minutes. But I didn’t care. The sound of his laugh was something I planned on listening to for the rest of my life. I hoped.

“So back to the internship. I’ve decided to call bullocks on you ever actually working with Tony Stark” I declared as I take another bite of the coffee flavored ice cream. “No, really! I can even prove it, hold on.” Peter says getting out his phone and scrolling through the gallery. My eyes widened and I’m sure my mouth formed an “o” shape. I grabbed the phone and on it was a video with Tony Stark, the Tony Stark, his arm over Peter’s shoulder. While it all seemed forced and awkward it was real. Peter looked a little bit younger then. I click play.

“Hey May! Just wanted to say what an incredible job your nephew did this weekend on the-” The phone fell from my hand as a loud explosion shook the entire building.

“Oh My God!” I heard a lady scream, followed by 2 synced cries, I looked over to see a mother holding twins to her body. I followed her eyes to the front of the building where 3 big men carrying what I assumed were guns. The explosion hold where the door had been. I frantically look at Peter. My heart throbbing in my chest.

“I am so sorry Gen, but uh I gotta…I gotta go.” Before I could stop him or even respond , Peter Parker had slipped out the back door. Leaving me and everyone else alone with guys who had the guns.

“Listen up! I am Rex you will all call me Red Rex.” Said one of the men. He was tall and easily the biggest one there. He seemed to have been the leader while behind him was a smaller man who was still huge. And standing right beside him, his twin brother. They were identical other than the hair. While Rex had blonde hair, the other had raven black hair. Rex also had a big scar going down his neck, then disappearing under his shirt collar. “This is my brother Dex, you will all call him Dead Dex.” I had to silence a laugh at their pathetic twin names. Oh, today proved to be a fuuuuun day in Queens, New York..
