Sometimes I think we should split discussions in and about the disabled community between those who believe their disability is “fixable” and those who think their disability is “non fixable”.

And what I mean by “fixable” is that you believe it is possible, through social change, or medical advancements, or revolution, or chance, or whatever, for you or someone in your possition to no longer be disabled.

What I mean by “unfixable” is that you don’t believe that it’s possible for you to become abled under any circumstances, and/or that even if you had the option to, you would not take it.

I don’t think it should be something we gate keep around, and it should be totally based on self ID, or else it won’t work. [edit to include: it also exists on a spectrum. Some of your symptoms or disabilities could be fixable and others unfixable, and even unfixable ones usually benefit from harm reduction]

the reason why I think we should do this is because the community already is split on it. We already have completely different discussions, and different experiences, and different outlooks. And that’s fine. That’s good actually.

But we should acknowledge that so that others know where we are coming from, and so that we can build better relationships with those who share our experiences, and so that we can distinguish better between why our goals differ.

Also, while I like Unfixable as a term, I do think “fixable” could be potentially problematic. If you have a fixable disability and would like to suggest a better term, please let me know

My damn heart is breaking so fast right now. I just spent a little time with my best friend. I couldn't have felt more uncomfortable. I can't stand this. We were so f****** close just a month ago. Now we couldn't be further apart. We live together so that makes it really difficult for me to even want to come home or stay home. I tried talking to her before but she said we didn't have a problem when we actually do. She's been everything to me for 5 years. And now I'm just lost without her and I don't know if I will ever be able to feel the same way ever again. Even though I'm starting something new with new girl, I still want my best friend in my life. I totally lost trust and lost faith in what I thought was the most incredible friendship I could have ever had. Now I just feel like a loser around her. Oh well. I guess if it was important enough we would have been able to work it out. I just wish I could stop loving her, but I can't...

I wonder if other streaming software has the same undocumented, unreported frame rate drops* that the latest versions of OBS Studio has… Because, apparently, this issue is unfixable and affects older versions, too.

S'weird. I didn't notice this problem back when I used 29.0.2. I also tested every single version of 29.1.x and its release candidates, and I wound up with me similar, if not the same, results using the same settings. Meanwhile, there were significantly less frame drops in 29.0.2 under certain settings, and almost no drops using one particular configuration.

Well… I guess the OBS people know what they're doing and we, the common plebian users, are just going to have to suffer through it.
