Jim Justice
Tumblr media
Physique: Heavyset Build Height: 6’ 7" (2.01 m)
James Conley Justice II (born April 27, 1951-) is an American businessman and politician who has served as the 36th governor of West Virginia since 2017. Justice was once a billionaire, but his net worth had declined to $513.3 million as of 2021. He inherited a coal mining business from his father and built a business empire with 94 companies, including the Greenbrier, a luxury resort in White Sulphur Springs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Justice is a well-liked and wealthy coal magnate who is one big fucking bear of a man. No other way to describe him. Hell… he compared himself to a grizzly bear. A 6-foot-7, 400+ pound millionaire grizzly bear. I’ll admit, I’m a little intimidated by the sheer size of him. But once I leave my goo on him, that’ll pass.
Tumblr media
A lifelong West Virginian, he attended Raleigh County public schools and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1969, and attended Greenbrier Military Academy as a post-graduate. Governor Justice went on to Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, and was captain of the golf team for two years before earning his undergraduate degree and a Masters in Business Administration.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Justice married his high school sweetheart, having two adult children and spend time spoiling four grandchildren. In addition, they have three dogs: two Boston Terriers, and their famous Babydog, an English Bulldog. Plus, he coach girls' basketball. Not the most handsomest guy, but I'd love to fuck around with him for a weekend. And for some reason with his dog, Babydog watching.

(Central Virginia Sport Performance The Podcast)
Season 4 Episode 16- Clare Kaufman Quebedeaux- “Be purposeful with not just what you’re teaching but also what you’re learning”
I am fired up to welcome Clare Kaufman Quebedeaux to The Podcast to talk about leadership and developing basketball players. Clare has had a really cool voyage that has brought her to Columbus to work alongside her first boss and mentor. Throughout the 30 plus minute discussion Clare and I get into:
1)    Being intentional in developing your staff in leadership
2)    A wake-up call that brought her to understand her role as a leader developing coaches
3)    Some unique aspects to their staffing system to help coaches grow professionally within the department.
4)    The importance of finding the right fit during the hiring process.
5)    How the transfer portal and foreign trips in the summer had a massive impact on summer training.
6)    Where the limitations to motivation have changed some of her perspective.
7)    Ways she has had success helping athletes who return from international competition to reintegrate into the team setting.
A huge thank you to Clare Kaufman Quebedeaux for sharing so much of her voyage through the coaching world. They have built a great system in Columbus for coaches to grow and develop and she was so kind in breaking down not just the X’s and O’s to it, but the thought process behind how it has evolved. Make sure you give her a follow-on Instagram at @ckarequib to keep up with all the things she’s doing. If you did enjoy the show please share this with a colleague. Lastly, if you haven’t subscribed to the show please do on your favorite podcast app, and if you would be so kind as to leave us a review, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Record Number of Student/Athletes to Participate in WVSSAC Girls Golf Invitational
Tumblr media
A record 125 girls are registered to participate in the seventh West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission Girls Golf Invitational on Tuesday at Woodridge Plantation Golf Course in Mineral Wells, West Virginia. This represents an increase of more than 40 players over the six-year history of the event. A new champion is guaranteed this season as two-time champion Savannah Hawkins of Hurricane has taken her clubs on to play at Marshall University along with a number of seven of the top 10 players from last season have moved on to play at the college level. While girls have been able to play with the boys co-ed golf for more than five decades, the girls game took a big move forward with the first full girls team at John Marshall High School in 2016 under the direction of Dave Gaudino and Bridget Carnahan. In the first year, the team had to play the many girls teams in Ohio.  Over the years, the sport has grown to nearly 20 full teams playing their own schedule primarily in the northern part of West Virginia. While the WVSSAC tournament is an individual event, the following schools will send full girls teams: John Marshall, Brooke, Weir, Wheeling Park, Wheeling Central, Morgantown, University, Herbert Hoover, Wirt, St. Marys, Fairmont Senior, Ripley, Sissonville, Princeton, George Washington, and Calhoun. Many other schools will be sending individual players as well. While the girls do not have their separate team tournament sponsored by the WVSSAC yet, the continued growth of the sport in the state could eventually lead to a separate team tournament in the future. Competition is divided into two divisions with players in the Championship Division playing 18 holes and players in the Open division playing 9 holes. Possibly leading the pack in the Championship Division is Maddie Potts of Wheeling Central. A four-time participant and top 20 finisher, Potts, who is also a cheerleader, brings a complete game to the Nicklaus-designed course at Woodridge. She brings an 18-hole average in the low 80’s to the event. Two Rivers Athletic Conference girls’ medalist Angela Yao of Morgantown will also challenge along with sophomores Kianna Garrison of John Marshall, Audrey Kerr of Bridgeport and Abby Kingora of University. Competition is expected to begin at 9:30. Spectators are welcome and there is no admission charge. John Quentin Wesley, age 93 of Morganfield, KY went home peacefully on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. Quentin believed the promise of eternal life and that Jesus has prepared a home for him in heaven (John 14:2-4). He was born on October 29, 1929 at the very start of the Great Depression. Times were hard. He did not have an official birth certificate until 1964. With God’s grace, he and his 5 siblings endured a rural life in Sturgis, KY.
After graduating from Sturgis High School in 1948, Quentin attended Bob Jones University 1948-1949 in Greenville, SC. After one year, he transferred to Western Kentucky University where he was on the track team. He went on to law school at UK. While in Lexington, he met the love of his life, Hildegarde Taylor from Hardinsburg, KY. They married in 1955 and had 4 children. He served in the United States Air Force from 1954 until his honorable discharge in 1965 as Captain. While based at Wright Patterson, he worked on contracts for the B52 bomber.
Quentin practiced law for 50 years in a bustling office on Court St. across from the courthouse. Mr. Wesley represented the people of his community with honor and compassion. He was dedicated to his beloved community and answered the call to serve. Quentin utilized his popularity and his integrity to serve in many positions. Early in his professional years, he presided as Sturgis Kiwanis club president and served on the Henderson Community advisory board. He served as Morganfield City Attorney for 25 years and Union County Attorney. He represented the U.C. Board of Education for 50 years and the U.C. Water District. Quentin was selected Union County Judge Pro-Tem. In 1968 he was elected to the Kentucky House of Representatives and represented his constituents of the 7th district at the State Capital in Frankfort and served on the Executive Branch Ethics Committee. He was a Commonwealth Attorney. Quentin served on the Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway for 8 years. Mr. Wesley was a Charter Life Fellow of the Kentucky Bar Association.
Through his education, military service, community service, and career, he traveled and collected many friends along the way. He and Hildegarde loved to travel. Their destinations included China and Russia. He and Hildegarde enjoyed driving across the country to see the wonders of this country he so loved; always returning to realize his blessings in Union County. On many occasions he proudly drove around “to look at crops”. Quentin was devoted to his faith. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Morganfield, where he led an adult men’s Bible study class for 50 years. In recent years, he helped with children’s vacation Bible school and facilitated the construction of the steeple on the existing sanctuary in Morganfield.
Quentin enjoyed the game of golf and cherished his regular golfing buddies. He planted many of the trees, bushes, and flowers by hand at the Breckinridge Golf Club. He wanted to preserve the course’s beauty for future generations of golfers. Quentin was a fan of all sports. He followed the Union County Braves, UK Wildcats, Oakland Raiders, and the Cincinnati Reds. Uncle Quentin adored all of his nieces and nephews. He kept up with their lives and supported their interests. He was always proud of their many accomplishments. He appreciated that his family frequently came to visit to just catch up on current events and news of family members.

4)    Examples of his progressions in different mobility and stability situations
5)    Autonomy’s role in his program
6)    What the transfer portal has changed in his programs
7)    How he defines functional training, and how that definition impacts how he evaluates and trains his guys
8)    Monitoring/Tracking of practice as an evaluation of preparation
A great conversation with a fantastic practitioner who has a unique perspective on developing the athlete’s he gets to work with. Justin is really doing great work, and I’m so grateful for his open and candid sharing today. Make sure you give him a follow on The Gram at @jland_perf. I truly hope you took as much from this discussion as I did, and if so, please share this with a colleague that would find value in the episode. Also, if you haven’t subscribed on your favorite podcast platform yet and could do that for us, we would greatly appreciate it.
Who is Justin Landry?
With more than 13 years of experience in the athletic strength and conditioning field, Justin Landry joined the Georgia Tech men’s basketball program as its director of strength and conditioning in May of 2023. Landry spent the last three years supporting the men’s and women’s basketball teams, as well as women’s golf, at San Diego State.
Landry was a key member of a men’s basketball team that reached the national championship game in Houston in 2023 and played in the NCAA Tournament all three years he worked with the Aztecs’ men’s team. The SDSU women developed into a 23-win team with a WNIT appearance in 2023.
A native of Oakland, Calif., Landry spent the previous 16 months as assistant strength coach at Georgia State University in Atlanta. He worked primarily with the men’s basketball as well as men’s and women’s golf teams, and in that time, he developed individual programs to improve athletic performance through agility training, weightlifting, core exercises and regeneration sessions.
As a result, in 2019-20, Georgia State completed its fourth straight men’s basketball season of at least 19 wins. Two of the student-athletes he worked with were recognized as All-Sun Belt Conference performers, with one earning National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 24 designation.
Before joining the staff at Georgia State, Landry spent three years at UC Davis as its associate strength and conditioning coach, working with five sports including men’s basketball. The basketball team won the 2017-18 Big West Conference regular-season title as well as the 2016-17 Big West Tournament championships. In each of those years, the team advanced to the postseason: the NCAA Tournament in 2016-17 and the NIT in 2017-18. The 2017-18 team, which finished 22-11, boasted the Player of the Year, Sixth Man of the Year, and Newcomer of the Year in the Big West. Posting a 23-13 mark in 2016-17, five student-athletes were named All-Big West performers.
He was on the strength and conditioning staff at Troy University for the 2015-16 school year where, working with men’s basketball, two student-athletes earned Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week honors and one earned All-Sun Belt Conference designation. Landry began his major college professional career at the University of Texas in Austin.  There he worked as the performance coach for the basketball program during the 2014-15 season in which the Longhorns went 20-13 and competed in the NCAA Tournament.
Prior to his year in Austin, Landry completed an internship at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and was a graduate assistant coach with the women’s basketball team at Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tenn.
In addition to his college experience, Landry was the founder/owner of a strength and conditioning business in Oakland, Calif., where he worked with athletes from high school to the professional ranks.
A 2012 graduate of Cal State East Bay, with a degree in pre-athletic training, he completed his master’s degree in education in sport science from Tennessee State in 2014. In addition, Landry has earned Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) designation from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

Can You Invest in Nashville Coin Gallery IRA?Do They Offer A Precious Metals IRA?
To invest in a precious metals IRA through Nashville Coin Gallery are the general steps: Open a Self-Directed IRA Select an IRA company that handles opening precious metals IRA accounts and fill out an application. You can work with Nashville Coin Gallery to recommend an IRA company and provide the necessary paperwork. However, I don't recommend doing so. Fund Your IRA Once you have selected an IRA company, you can move your funds into your new IRA account. You can work with the IRA company representative to transfer or rollover funds into the new account. Select a Precious Metals Dealer One of the forms you need to fill out along the way is typically called a Buy Direction Letter. This is where you list the precious metals dealer you have selected, such as Nashville Coin Gallery. Decide Which Precious Metals to Purchase You can choose to invest in gold, silver, platinum, or palladium for your IRA. There are some restrictions regarding fineness requirements and allowable coin types, so it's important to get guidance from Nashville Coin Gallery in this area. Place Your Order Once the funds are available in your IRA account, you can call them to place your order for the desired precious metals. However, I don't recommend opening an IRA with Nashville Coin Gallery. Why? Because there are plenty of better options available for you. Opening a precious metals IRA is a major decision. That's why I suggest checking out our top gold IRA providers list. There, you can find the best precious metals dealer in your state and choose accordingly. Nashville Coin Gallery Fees and Charges: Do they overcharge? What are their fees? Do they have hidden fees?
It's important for people to know about fees and charges when they're thinking about investing in things like coins and precious metals. However, Nashville Coin Gallery's website doesn't give clear information about these fees, and that might make potential customers and investors feel disappointed.
Tumblr media
When you're thinking about investing your money, it's really helpful to have all the details about how much things will cost. Not having this information on the website can make people uncertain about whether to invest or not. It's like not knowing all the costs before you buy something – you might end up surprised by extra expenses you didn't expect. Even though Nashville Coin Gallery has a good reputation and happy customers, not knowing the fees upfront can create doubts for those who want to understand everything before making a decision. This could also lead to worries about hidden fees that nobody likes. Transparency is Important

He also added that he is sure Pete cheated him on his coin. Pete told the customer that his foreign coins were worthless and he did not even look at them. When the customer returned home, he looked up the coins and discovered that it was a $10 Spanish coin. At last, he advised everyone not to do business with this company.

Euclid Heights Historic District
2729-2611 Edgehill Rd.
Cleveland Heights, OH 44106
Unlike other National Register Districts in Cleveland Heights, which are exclusively residential and exclusively single-family, the Euclid Heights Historic District's building types and architectural styles create a rich portrait of American upper and middle-class lifestyles during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.  This 365-acre suburb bounded by Mayfield Rd., Coventry Rd., Cedar Rd., and Overlook Lane, was one of the first platted in the desirable higher ground located along an escarpment above Cleveland's University Circle and Euclid Avenue. Early on, Euclid Heights’ developers sought to attract wealthy Millionaires’ Row residents who, in the late 19th century, had begun migrating eastward away from the city's pollution and commercial bustle. The development benefited from the advent of electrified streetcars, which could conquer the steep grades leading up to the Heights. Tucked in the corner of a green space framed by Doan Brook and Lake View Cemetery, Euclid Heights offered a stylish retreat where those able to handle longer commutes could enjoy spacious lots, curving streets, handsome architecture, spectacular views, fresh air, privacy and a chance to put distance between themselves and the increasingly dirty, problem-plagued city below.
The story goes that Atlanta and New York railroad lawyer Patrick Calhoun, grandson of U.S. Vice President and Senator John C. Calhoun, traveled to Cleveland on business in 1890. Having time to spare, Calhoun rode out to Lake View Cemetery to see the recently dedicated memorial to the slain President James A. Garfield, a structure Calhoun’s family had supported. On the way he noticed the building boom going on in the East End (Hough area), and wondered where that was heading. Calhoun had been involved earlier in the Richmond Terminal railroad project in Virginia and was familiar with the groundbreaking work that Frank Sprague, the "Father of Electric Traction," had done there in using electric railroads to promote urban development. Knowing that the East Cleveland Railway Company had recently done some innovative work electrifying streetcars locally, Calhoun saw an opportunity to develop an important streetcar suburb at the top of Cedar Glen.
Working with local partners, including John D. Rockefeller's real estate man, J.G.W. Cowles, attorney William Lowe Rice and merchant John Hartness Brown, Calhoun had development plans drawn up by 1892. The Panic of 1893 put their plans on hold but by 1896 an amended site plan was recorded—more or less identical to today's layout of the area with Euclid Heights Boulevard bisecting the site from the southwest corner at the crest of Cedar Hill. In the northeast corner of the development would be the commercial district, what we now know as Coventry Village. Other prominent features included The Overlook—Overlook Road southwest of Edgehill Road and featuring large mansions featuring splendid north- and west-facing views—and the Euclid Club, a country club that sported a golf course spanning both sides of Cedar Road and a grand quarter-mile entry path beginning at what is now the corner of Derbyshire and Surrey Roads.
The development gradually attracted fine homes and also spurred other beautiful subdivisions, such as Barton Deming’s Euclid Golf Allotment on the south portion of the former golf course (which closed in 1912). Moreover, the Van Sweringen brothers, are believed to have been paperboys in the Euclid Heights area and later went on to adopt themes from the Euclid Heights Allotment in their famous Shaker Heights and Shaker Farm communities (the latter comprises streets such as Stratford, Marlboro, Fairfax and Guilford, west of Lee Road and immediately north of Fairmount Boulevard) . Calhoun, however, was distracted by legal problems running the San Francisco streetcar franchise after the Great Earthquake and saw his Euclid Heights development company forced into bankruptcy in 1914. By then William Rice had been murdered while walking home to the Overlook from the Euclid Club, a sensational case that featured John Hartness Brown as a suspect. Although it still maintains its picturesque “Garden City” look, Euclid Heights soon evolved from a private hilltop retreat to a busy gateway to the rapidly developing Heights. A large portion of Calhoun-owned land in the area’s eastern sector was sold off and subdivided, thus explaining why Cleveland Heights homes east of Coventry Road tend to be somewhat more modest than those near the top of the hill.  Euclid Heights was listed with the National Register of Historic Places on October 31, 2012. It remains full of architecturally significant homes (including Calhoun's at 2460 Edgehill), but its main significance is the role it played in opening the Heights as a streetcar suburb for wealthy Clevelanders.
