some resin comparisons (jan 2023)

here they are! the natural light images are truest to life, though the tans look more different in reality. dika doll tan is a smidge yellower (though that may just be age), and fairyland tan is much redder. I had heard that fairyland and unoa tans were close enough to hybrid easily, but they do seem significantly different in person- it would likely work if a unoa head was given a warm/reddish faceup though. 

the fairyland tan and normal resins, the alchemic labo unoa paradise and fresh resins, and the dollzone yellow resin have been kept almost completely out of the sunlight (until this picture lol). the other two have been in the sun underneath wigs.

I got my DfH slim girl body and I love it 😁

It comes with silicone kips in hip joints, shoulders, and the neck, and also has wired legs and arms.

I think the wire might be needed for the elbow because the new joint of this body is an odd form. I'll try to check the posing once I have the time to actually take her apart, but a friend said that it's not as good as the old joint...

They also have little ridges in the wrist and ankle joint where you can rest your hooks for easy change of parts. I love this so much because it's as easy as magnetic hands/feet without the annoying feet-sticking-in-your-shoes issue 😬

Colour match of new dfh tan with fairyland and unoa. Fairyland is way more rosy and also more muted. It looks almost greyish in photos, which is so interesting because their tan is actually quite saturated imo??

Unoa paradise skin is actually... a pretty good match? DfH is a tad more orange, but it is so miniscule that it is barely noticeable irl and basically non-existent on camera. I will take photos on Saturday in daylight to check if it still works as well as it seems to, but I'm very, very pleased!!

I think unoa heads work also pretty well on the body, proportions wise? In my experience, unoas tend to have swan neck syndrome with a lot of other bodies, but this one isn't too bad, actually! I like it! And it's perfect for the head I bought it for:

And possibly a new faceup because I just scratched/ chipped her lip. Twice.

No one could say if Doll Family H tan matches Unoa Paradise tan so I bought some feet and they aren't 100% but the difference is pretty small. (Artificial and sunset sunlight)

My other dfh dolls don't seem as glossy as these feet. The unoa resin is way more matte

It goes without saying if you're in any hobby long enough you'l run in to a bargain because someone doesn't know or doesn't care what they have or it's the last one which is probably cursed and they want it out of their damn shop. And yeah, it might seem like the scalpers and flippers have all the luck, but often it happens because you're a persistence hunter. Or you're a generally good person who does chaotically good things and the universe wants to reward you.

My Phantom of the Paradise, well, it's the last one, the box isn't in great shape it's got a lot of shelf wear, none of the usuals at the comic book funky pop collectables store want him, we'll give you free shipping. I wasn't buying his box, which I d still have, I was buying the one that came with the plunger. Paradise fans know about the plunger. Isn't that right robot mask wearing duo in all leather?

The Mini Dollfie Dream was in the collector's case at the junk store, they knew that much to keep her behind glass, but she's not a bride doll or a fancy Barbie. Couldn't even see more than her arm because of the other "collectables" in front of her. But I know what a dollfie arm looks like. What ever they wanted I was going to pay. I've paid more for new Barbies and Monster High at Walmart. That musty grandma's garage where we smoke weed smell came right off.

That's a cute doll, I've never heard of Alchemic Labo before, is that an anime? Who's Lusis? Is she the main girl or something? Hell if they know. But she with her two face plates, regular which I plan to scrub it's not factory, and asleep and a yawn/sneeze plate I found elsewhere with shipping and taxes are still less or about what I paid for the Chibi Unoa.

I wonder in the back of my mind if the Lusis smells, I can take care of that, or what but she's going to hang out here. My Obitsu 60 is in ragged shape but he's still here. Some times dolls leave but a fair amount get to stay forever.

Of course I'll be in the market for an Ange face plate eventually, and any others I don't have, that's always been the draw for me to get a Unoa.

Another thought that had crossed my mind for my doll money was to get a different head for the Volks MDD. They're all anime style so it wouldn't make any real difference in her looks. She's a kludged Cardcaptor Sakura, going by how the wig is cut, and so she'll stay. Did make her a pink coat hat cape outfit but still dealing with the fact she's the first of the DOA on topics I've never been able to bond with.

Not for sale tho because she fits a size and brand niche no one else does.

this girl is home. I feel v full circle with her. One of my first dolls was a unoa 1.5 lusis (decadent) in fresh resin. Her character was named Olive. She was supposed a little forest dweller and was just a main character in my little world. I was never able to make her an elf and I always envisioned her to have skin that’s been kissed by the sun. Beautiful warm, brown skin. Almost two years later after selling Olives first shell, this one comes home. It feels so right! She feels so at home. I had to share even with no face, how can a sculpt be so cute with no paint!? Anyways, meet Olive. My Unoa Sist in Paradise resin.

Shoes that work for Chibi Unoas and their 5cm chubby feet

These are my favorite - black boots by jenyateplaya and canvas by skdollhouse

These Jenyateplaya boots for A-line minifee feet are a good fit for chibi unoa too! The laces are elastic which help accommodate the chubbier chibi feet. I don't think she usually has minifee shoes in stock but she takes commissions sometimes.

1/4 size skdollhouse. They're out of stock so I don't have the measurements they listed but I saw a lot of these on minifees of the internet. At first glance, seems like they would be too big but I like them and I think they look really good on the doll. I really hope skdollhouse continues to come out with 1/4 sizes in the future!

Sophie toy paradise sneakers!

I ordered 1/4 size white hi tops but these are B I G. I think the measurement said something like 5.5cm on the inside which doesn't seem right so I think either the listing was inaccurate or I got the wrong size? Idk, they were for my minifee boy anyways and they fit him fine :p

1/4 size pink sneakers. The measurements on the listing said 6cm inner length which seems accurate. A little bit roomy but I think they look nice!

Ballet flats and MoriTime dailies

White ballet flats are sized for A-line minifees. Chibi Unoas have more of an arch in their feet so I think these look/fit best with socks on. These are super old shoes so I don't remember where I got them ☹️ but I feel like it was probably eBay.

I took the laces out of these MoriTime shoes and couldn't get them back in 🤣 they're 1/4 size and the listing said inner length 6.5cm but they're almost the exact same size as the Sophie pink sneakers that said 6cm.

So idk, might see if I can somehow measure the insides of all these and post a follow up? 🤷‍♀️

None of my yosd shoes fit my Chibi Unoas. They're almost close but it's just not going to work 🙅‍♀️

Idk, I hope this is helpful. I think socks and leg warmers can help cheat the fit and look of shoes for sure. I also think that hi tops and boots can hide most of the gappy room if they're a little bit too big, unless they're just way too big like those white ones I have 🤣

These shoes range in price from $20-50ish so trial and error can be costly. I think I can safely say that *most* shoes for minifees are going to be good for chibi unoas too - give or take a pair of socks. I don't think I'll be building my shoe collection much more in the near future but if I do come across something I like for these girls, I won't keep it a secret 😉

Thanks to a friend, I got this beautiful paradise skin Unoa for a good price. She came with 3 faceplates - Unoa lusis wink, Unoa sist wink and unoa sist bully. No default.

I thought... ok, why not give it a try modding?? If I messed up, I’d still have the other faces I could use, right?

So I did it!

It was my first mod ever and tbh I am still very proud of the result! I love how smily she is now!

she got a whole bunch of tattoos as well, what I MIGHT have to redo sooner or later because due to some clothes her upper body is terribly stained =‘) but not today.

I really like how she turned out =)
