The traveller's prayer: may your bus come on time. May the online description make sense. When it doesn't make sense, may you find an autistic teenager's transit hyperfixation blog to describe the exact bus route you're taking and why you shouldn't take the other version of the same route.

“I have a date tomorrow guys.”
Everyone’s head instantly lifts up from their phones at this sudden announcement, collectively drawing their attention at you. You weren’t expecting all of them to gasp and swap such looks of genuine confusion. It’s starting to make you think maybe this situation was a lot more serious than you’ve bargained it out to be.
You couldn’t fathom it either honestly, the realization of you going out with someone probably won’t settle in until you’re physically on the date. Based on their initial responses though, you might regret everything you’re about to say, but it’s far too late to retract any of your statements now.
“No way.. with who??” Danielle is the first out of everyone to ask.
Taehyung chimes in as well, “Yeah, who’s the lucky person? They’ve gotta be something seriously special to be talking to you.”
Well, you suppose you could put it that way.
You already have a preconceived notion of what they’re going to think of this “idea”. Mentally preparing yourself to receive a flood of questions and critique from your close friends.
“Actually… I rented him. For the week.”
Now they’re all looking at you like you’ve officially lost it. The room got scarily quiet, no one wanted to be the first to speak. You should’ve anticipated on their reactions being like this, it isn’t everyday someone just openly admits to buying a partner online. Nowadays there’s a lucrative market for just about anything, when you stumbled upon an ad for this service called ‘RentABoyfriend.com’ you didn’t think much of it. You laughed the concept off at first, thinking how lonely people must be to buy someone else’s time.
But the ads kept popping up, they wouldn’t stop showing in almost every YouTube video you were watching— even one of your favorite YouTubers promoted them before! So one day you finally decided to check this website out, you wanted to see what the hype’s all about so you signed up just for shits and giggles. You weren’t expecting to actually be somewhat interested in trying this thing out, but after going through a couple different profiles and reading hundreds of positive reviews you were practically sold.
“You rented out a boyfriend..? Seriously ___? I mean, I’m not judging but you’re a gorgeous girl you can easily get a boyfriend without paying for someone’s companionship, I don’t see why you need to rent one.” Mark bluntly expressed his opinion, he was probably the most outspoken out of all of you guys.
Taehyung and Danielle both agreed in unison, it’s practically 3 against 1 at this point. You knew you should’ve waited to tell them but you weren’t anticipating on them being this judgmental about it. You were hoping for a little more support, as they’re all way more experienced than you in the dating scene and could lend some helpful advice about your first date, ever.
See, the thing is you’ve never tried dating before so you wouldn’t know the first thing about it or what to expect from your future partner. You’ve never had a boyfriend, let alone held hands or kissed someone of the opposite sex. Being in your twenties it’s kind of embarrassing to say you’ve never done those things, but you thought what better way to try it out than renting a full-on experience that can give you just that? Well minus the kissing part, but you can make it work.
You were skeptical of doing this whole ‘rent-a-boyfriend’ thing at first because you didn’t think there’d be anyone you’d find suitable enough. A big part of the reason that you’re still single is because you’re extremely picky, you want to date a guy who’s so perfect that he must’ve came straight out of an indie romance film. Your friends would tease you for having such unrealistic standards when it came to dating but you were the all-or-nothing type, you’ll be single with fifty cats before you settle for less. Renting a boyfriend is definitely an unconventional idea of easing into dating but you thought it might be worth a try anyway.
What’s the worse that could happen?

( 1 day earlier )
Hovering your cursor over the bold red text of the website, you read over the main rules before going on to select the person you want for your date.
‘The rules are simple:
You are allowed to see only ONE person at a time, if you want to switch boyfriends you’ll have to pay a $50 fee.
MUST be over 18 to rent a boyfriend, we have implemented an age verification system before the date as we do not tolerate anyone under this age to use our services.
NO kissing, or sexual intimacy allowed. If this is found out later on by our agency we will terminate your contract and ban you from using our services in the future.
Remember to have fun !! ^_^ Our services are great for people who are new to dating or have never been in a relationship. We provide the ~ultimate~ boyfriend experience to all our clients. Customer satisfaction is 100% guaranteed ! (NO REFUNDS)’
Well jeez… they seemed a bit strict but you can deal with those rules and restrictions for the most part.
After hours of skimming through hundreds of profiles, you have a hard time choosing which you like most. Did you want an artsy, shy kind of guy? The tattooed, bad boy aesthetic type? You really couldn’t pick one until you stumble upon a particular profile that catches your eye almost immediately.

5 Facts About Me: I’ve traveled to over 50+ different countries and counting (ask me which my favorites are), I can speak 4 languages (working on my fifth), love to sing and used to have a rap trio with my buddies from college, I can & will easily lift you up ;) also have a secret talent for cooking, there’s nothing I can’t do!
Why Choose Me? First of all, why not choose me? I’m the best candidate for whatever kind of date you need, something casual, social gatherings, weddings, you name it! I’m very social and can make most people laugh (unless they’re the literal Grinch reincarnated), I’m able to get along well with anyone and just love to have a good time. I hope we can get to know each other and make great memories in the future :)
Going through his pictures you couldn’t believe someone was capable of being this humanely attractive. Don’t even get started on those impeccable muscles either… He really had to sport them in every other one of his photos, wearing the tightest shirts to show the outline of his insanely sculpted frame. You might have just been mesmerized from his godlike visuals alone. They even had a Valentine’s Day deluxe package that comes with seven dates in total for half the price, which they specified was for a limited time only.
$600 later you’ve got a full week of dates lined up with the hottest guy you’ve ever seen in all your years of living. You should’ve definitely went shopping before considering all this because now you actually have a reason to get dolled up for someone.
Tumblr media
You were so nervous about going on this date you almost cancelled last minute out of fear. Typing out several different elaborate paragraphs to Changbin on why you couldn’t make it. You didn’t have his real phone number, it was all through an app facilitated by the rental company that was included in the package. Even though you were feeling overwhelmed and practically shaking with anxiety about meeting up with a guy, you still forced yourself to go anyway. You didn’t just dish out all that money just to not show up and waste his time on top of all that.
Your rental boyfriend texted you the location to meet at, it was near a train station so you both could see each other out in a public open space. The outfit you wore was fairly simple, a black mini skirt with warm tights underneath and a cropped turtleneck sweater. You accessorized the look with some dainty jewelry, a thin scarf, and knee high boots to pull everything together. It wasn’t something you usually wore but you had certain clothes you saved for a special occasion like this.
Upon your arrival, you notice him standing near a vending machine and waves over at you with the biggest smile plastered on his face. You awkwardly wave back, giving a soft smile as you slowly walk up to him. He looks even better in person, you don’t even feel adequate enough to be in such a gorgeous man’s presence. No wonder he’s so popular on the site, he’s practically unreal.
“Hi, you must be ___. It’s so nice to finally meet you, might I add you look really beautiful today, I think you’re making my heart race just by looking at you. Happy Valentine’s Day!” Changbin introduces himself, buttering you up with some sweet compliments before handing you the most insane bouquet of roses you’ve ever seen.
You take the flowers and almost stumble backwards from how heavy they were, “Wow, thank you!” Changbin prevents you from falling, quickly coming up behind you to get your balance back.
“Careful honey, can’t have you injured on our first date!” He voices with concern, “I hope you love the idea I came up with, I’ve only been to this place once before but I’m sure it’s still as fun as I remember it, let’s go!” Eagerly grabbing your hand to begin the journey, he turns around again to examine your body language.
“You seem a little tense babe? Do you need a massage?” He asks in a concerned tone again, this is all really beginning to freak you out. You know this is what you signed up for but this was all starting to feel a bit too personal, all the nicknames and sweet talk he’s giving is just something you aren’t used to.
“Uh, no! It’s o-okay.” You shook your head, denying anything suspicious going on. Truth be told you were barely able to contain your composure right now.
Changbin keeps on insisting, “The massage is included in the package so you don’t have to worry about getting charged extra.”
“N-no it’s okay, really. I’m just nervous that’s all, sorry I just don’t meet up with guys…” you shyly admit, finding it hard to look him in the eye.
He nods in understanding, “No need to be nervous with me sweetheart. I’m here to make you feel as comfortable as possible.” The smile he flashes at you instantly makes you warm on the inside, he seems like a genuine, caring person. You think things might go well for you after all.
The rest of the night was full of only good vibes and laughter by the end of it all. Changbin took you to an adult arcade that had old video games like Pac-Man, Super Mario, and Space Invaders, the other side was a bar where people could sit, drink, and socialize. He bought all your drinks that night, let you use up most of his tokens and overall had the most fun you could’ve ever had with someone. He was so easygoing but also knew when to act super caring and would be all lovey dovey with you. He was gentle, nurturing, and could have conversations about anything. You loved that he’d randomly drop some interesting fact you never knew about, or talked about a certain niche topic that he’d go on multiple rants over. It didn’t feel like you were renting someone out to date you, it felt natural— like you’ve known him for longer than a couple hours. Changbin walked you home and held your hand the entire time, along with the flowers he provided a teddy bear and a heart shaped box of chocolates. If that didn’t scream boyfriend goals then you don’t know what does.
Tumblr media
The next day you wake up to Changbin blowing your phone up this morning. You had over 26 messages from him, which was pretty excessive in your humble opinion. The first thing he said was good morning then he goes on to express how fun yesterday was and he can’t wait to do it again. He even sent a couple mirror selfies of him at the gym, ‘conceited much?’ You thought. But then again, if you were Seo Changbin you’d probably be full of yourself too.
For today’s date you wore a pretty red sundress that made your skin glow in the sunlight. It’ll definitely get him to compliment you even more— which you secretly love when he does. Changbin calls you before he heads out to the date, letting you know how excited he is to see you again. You couldn’t stop smiling like an idiot on the train as you made your way to the destination, thinking about what he’s planned for you two next. This time you’ll be meeting up at a park but you still have no clue what you’re doing.
Changbin texts you where exactly he is in the park, it was pretty huge so it took you a while to get to him. As you get closer you see him sitting on a large blanket by the lake, on top of it were a bunch of different foods and snacks scattered all around that came out of a huge picnic basket. You were speed walking at this point trying to get to him. His arms opened out for a hug and you lean right into him, what you didn’t expect was for him to suddenly stand up and lift you in his arms to swing around you like a doll.
“Put me down I’m scared of heights!” You squeal out in fear of being too high up in the air. Maybe you really should’ve taken the bio on his profile more seriously when he mentioned certain things.
Finally putting you down after minutes go by of you protesting, Changbin sits you back onto the blanket. He brought an assortment of breads, cheese, fruits, lemonade that he made himself and a couple seltzers. You’ve never seen anyone put such time and effort into a date before, even being here with him is like living in a daydream. He was definitely succeeding in making you feel comfortable, which is something you never thought was possible with men. He actually took his time getting to know you and didn’t sound arrogant whenever he talked about himself, Changbin was so different than other guys who’ve tried hitting on you in the past. He was actually respectful, intelligent, and could easily carry a conversation without long, awkward pauses.
He was literally everything you’re looking for in a guy. But you’ll be seeing him for this week only then it’s bye bye forever. That revelation makes you a little upset, but you try pushing those thoughts in the back of your mind. It’s irrelevant and unnecessary to think about. Yet you can’t help but wonder about certain things though, wanting to know more about his job and what it’s like on a daily basis for him.
“Can I ask you something? I need you to answer it honestly.” You say out of nowhere, hoping that didn’t come out as weird as you thought.
Changbin nods, “of course, shoot.”
“How many clients do you usually get?”
This question definitely catches him off guard, he’s never really been asked this before and he’s debating on if he should as it might be a breach of privacy.
“I don’t think I can answer that, sorry.” He responds in the nicest way possible, but deep down he wants to know why you’d want to know how many other people he sees a day.
You were going to push him a bit more to try and get an answer but you decide to let it go and just enjoy the rest of the picnic. You didn’t want to bring the mood down with your odd questions and/or end up making him feel so uncomfortable that he won’t want to see you anymore. It was definitely something you shouldn’t have asked but you were curious to know anyway. Overall besides that small incident, you had another wonderful time with Changbin and couldn’t wait for tomorrow to come any faster.
Tumblr media
Changbin had a foolproof way of getting you to blush like a giddy high school teen whenever he texted you. He’d always refer to you as ‘pretty girl’ or ‘princess’ which gave you insane amount of butterflies. You loved how clingy he could get and would double text when you don’t reply fast enough, always needing constant attention from you which you never minded giving.
He texted you at around three in the afternoon, proposing his next plan for today’s date.
‘Let’s go out for drinks tonight, it’s all on me ;)’
You liked his message, replying that you’ll be there and put a series of hearts at the end. Speaking of hearts, yours is fluttering at high altitudes from the way you can’t stop thinking about your “boyfriend” Changbin. This has been better than anything you could’ve expected, you never want this week to come to an end. It’s only been three days but you’ve begun to grow feelings for him, they weren’t too strong just yet but they were most definitely there. You couldn’t let that halt you from having a good time tonight, you’ll have to accept it soon enough he’s not your actual boyfriend. He’s doing this because you paid him to, if it wasn’t for your money he wouldn’t be here right now.
‘This relationship is purely transactional’ you unfortunately keep reminding yourself of the reality you’re in. Psyching yourself out of this sudden somber mood that’s consuming you, distracting your pessimism by raiding your closet for some cute clothes to wear tonight’s date. After what seemed like hours of tearing your entire room apart, you decide to settle on this sparkly black mini tube dress, pairing it with a leather jacket and more platform shoes because you’re obsessed with feeling tall. Once it’s 7 PM you head out to the bar you’re seeing Changbin at, he was already waiting for you inside the place. Eyes instantly lighting up when he sees you coming towards him, just like he always does he motions for a hug, pulling you in tightly like he hasn’t seen you in years.
His hugs felt so cozy, like sitting in front of the fireplace on a crisp, snowy winter’s evening. You never wanted to escape the warmth of his arms, it was one of those forms of physical touch that felt so overly personal to you. The thought of him hugging someone the same way he hugs you slightly enrages something in your spirit but again, it isn’t your place to get genuinely upset over him doing his job. You’re not entitled to him exclusively, but you feel like if you keep this up feelings will only continue to develop. This wasn’t something you considered when going into this and now you feel like you’ve just made a huge mistake.
“You okay babe?” Changbin notices you acting a bit strange, choosing not to pursue it after telling him you’re fine. He knows something’s wrong but doesn’t want to mess up the flow of the date, instead he orders a drink for the both of you and switches on to a lighter subject. “Let’s go shopping tomorrow at that new centre that just opened last week. I need to buy some new AirPods, I accidentally lost one of them in a taxi..”
“Sure,” you nod at his suggestion, in desperate need of some new clothes anyway. “Sorry about your AirPods, that sucks!”
He takes a sip of his bubbly drink that’s now on the table, “Eh, it’s okay this is probably the fourth time this has happened so far.” This has pretty much become a regular occurrence for him by now.
As the date progresses, things continue getting better. You’re both laughing, engaging in much deeper conversation than ever before. You definitely had more than enough alcohol in your system by now, feeling congested and claustrophobic as more people came into the bar. Changbin takes note of your discomfort and asks if you want to get some fresh air outside, you wasted absolutely no time to agree.
While you two were outside continuing your chat about some wild conspiracy he read about online, Changbin’s attention was soon drawn to a different building nearby. Gazing up in confusion at his sudden outburst of excitement, you wonder where he could be leading you next.
“Noraebang!” He shouts loud enough anyone miles away could’ve heard that, he’s now grabbing your hand to frantically drag you along with him.
You were never one to carry a tune but Changbin was actually very good at karaoke and singing in general, he had such a lovely voice. You could seriously listen to him sing all night— which you basically did since you kept begging for an encore until it hit 4 am. That’s when you both decided to finally call it a night, you wanted to pay for the Uber since he’s paid for all the drinks and every other expenses for today. You felt bad because you were the one renting him to be your boyfriend yet he’s constantly shelling out money left and right. He still insisted on paying and ultimately won the whole debacle, making you swallow your pride and get into the Uber with him. Changbin’s definitely not just someone you’re going to forget about after this week is over. You dread the day this all comes to an end, wishing there was a way to relive these moments again and again.
Tumblr media
“I’m a little under the weather today, sorry I can’t make it Binnie.” Your voice is hoarse from coughing and unbearable throat pain. You’ve already consumed half a bag of cough drops, throat lozenges, and random cold medicine you’ve found in your cabinets.
He sounds mildly disappointed, but springs back up with a new proposal, “I can come over and bring some soup if you’d like!”
You appreciate his gesture but still refuse, you know he’s only saying all this because he has to, not because he wants to. “N-no you don’t have to, I’m sure you can go see other clients today. One less person to worry about right?”
The call went silent for a minute, he wasn’t quite sure how to respond to such a deprecating comment.
“I don’t want to see other clients, I want to see you ___.” He sighs, unwilling to give up so easily, “I’ll be at your place soon, m’kay?” He hangs up before you could even respond or say no again.
You had no choice but to wait for Changbin to show up now. Before you got sick, the last two dates you went on were debatably the best so far. You had gone out shopping together, accidentally wearing almost the same kind of outfit. Changbin was wearing a white graphic tee with blue baggy jeans and you wore something practically identical. The two of you looked like a real, official couple and people would stare as you walked hand in hand, it really did seem like the perfect relationship on the outside.
You got even closer when he came over the following day, resulting in you two cuddling while watching movies and baking cookies. He’s expressed that he’s never been to another client’s home before but it wasn’t “technically” against any rules. The more you kept hanging out together, the harder it was coming to terms with the fact you’re actually falling for Changbin. He made every experience with you more exciting than the last, which he did exactly that night. When the cookies were done you fed a piece to him, making little airplane sounds as you do it, he eagerly takes a bite of the chewy treat and compliments both your efforts.
“These taste way better than I thought, oh my god they literally melt in your mouth. Try it!” He takes another cookie from the tray and feeds it to you this time.
There was something so overly domestic about that moment you couldn’t shake the feelings of wanting to kiss him right then and there. But you can’t. If you did such a thing you’d never be allowed to see him again, plus you don’t want to be known as that one creepy client who just couldn’t keep their hands to themselves. As you were cuddling on the couch though, things may have taken a turn for the better… or worse?
Changbin would “yawn” at the movie and subtly wrap his arm around you, he’d subconsciously pull you in closer and it didn’t make it any better that you were under the same blanket. You weren’t complaining at any of this though, you were pretty much in heaven. It took everything in you not to look up and stare, gluing your eyes to the movie that was displayed on the TV. But as the night progressed you were practically snuggling up with him like he was your real boyfriend. The way he’d run his fingers gently down your back, soothing you in a way that could lull you asleep. His touch was the most relaxing thing ever, you were so calm with him and loved how he brought a side of you that’s never been shown. After this encounter you can no longer deny the way you feel— you are officially falling deeply in love your rental boyfriend, Seo Changbin.
The sound of your doorbell ringing alarms you of a new visitor, who was none other than your “boyfriend” waiting patiently outside the door for you. You feel and look like death itself, coming downstairs to answer the door still in your PJ’s and hair a disheveled mess. Every five seconds was interrupted with you coughing your lungs out, barely able to speak above a whisper. Changbin looks thrilled as ever to see you, even when you clearly don’t look your best he’s still coming up to hug you tightly. His hugs are always blocking off your airways from the way his muscles squeeze you, it’s even worse when you’re sick— practically gasping for air.
“Sorry babyy, I just missed you so much. I couldn’t stop thinking about you all day and soon as you said you’re sick I dropped everything to go make you this soup. It’s a specialty I make whenever my friends are sick, the perfect remedy to cure my princess.” He goes into your kitchen to heat up the soup in your microwave, making you wait patiently on the couch as you’re wrapped up in multiple blankets.
Your body feels like it’s -2 degrees, you were freezing. The crazy thing is your thermostat was set to 80 degrees, it was definitely you that was the problem. He propped your feet up on the table, rested a tray in your lap and set the bowl of soup on top. Brushing a couple strands of hair out your face he looks at you intently, examining your symptoms as if he’s a doctor.
“It’ll be okay soon love, I’m here to nurse you back to health again. Can’t see my pretty baby sick like this, makes me all sad.” He pouts, giving you a soft head pat like you’re a delicate kitten.
He takes a spoonful of the hot soup, slightly blowing on it before telling you to open up so you can eat. You don’t know what’s gotten into you but you feel like he’s gone too far with all this. It’s not fair for you to continue on if it’s just become torture now. He’s practically dangling in your face that you’ll never have a partner as perfect as him in your life.
“I- I can’t do this anymore Changbin..” you say lowly, refusing to eat the soup he made.
“What do you mean? I’m just feeding you soup, it’s my duty as your boyfriend to-”
“This isn’t real… none of it is. I’m stupid for even doing this but I was lonely.. I’m sorry but I’d prefer something that isn’t temporary.” You cut him off to express your pent up frustrations, ready to be let down and rejected by him as gently as possible.
“Then let’s make it real,” he proposes without any hesitation, “honestly I stopped faking it around our third date, it was all me after that. I never said anything because well… this is my job and I’ve never fallen for a client before so this is still all very new to me..”
You’d be screaming right now if you weren’t sick, instead you’re internally freaking out at this confession, it feels like your hearts doing cartwheels and somersaults.
“Seriously?” Eyes widening as you look at him, suddenly your body heat rises and you know it’s not because of the soup or the layers of blankets that’s covering you.
He nods, “I thought it was kinda obvious when we kissed yesterday..”
Oh yeah… you forgot that did happen. You thought it was another fever dream you might’ve just made up in your head. You shared your first kiss with someone you deemed so special and important to you, someone you never would’ve guessed could come into your life and shift the entirety of your world like magic. There was no one else in existence you wanted more than Changbin.
“Doesn’t that mean you’ll have to quit your job? I don’t want to be the reason you stop making such good income.. I’ll feel so bad.” You knew deep down you didn’t feel that badly about him quitting to date you instead. It was just the thought of him leaving something he’s been doing for years behind all for some girl he’s known for simply a week.
He shrugs at your comment, “I’ll be just fine, I was planning on finding a new job soon anyway. It gets kinda old after a while, I felt like I was on autopilot most of the time. You were able to get me to open up and show my true self, I could never thank you enough for that ___.” Changbin couldn’t resist the urge to plant a kiss to your forehead.
After everything that’s been said and done. What you’ve come to understand is that love is learned, a development that takes time to grow and blossom into something extraordinary. Just like learning a new language or a musical instrument, we learn love from society and cultures we’re raised in, it’s a beautiful thing once we know how to cherish it. Your newfound romance with Changbin is something you’ll learn to cherish forever and ever.
[End <3].

Cirkelbroen Circular Bridge in Copenhagen, Denmark.
A new artistic landmark has appeared in the city of Copenhagen, Denmark — a bridge called Cirkelbroen. It was designed by Danish-Icelandic designer Olafur Eliasson and opened last month. The bridge crosses the Christianshavn Canal, connecting Christiansbro with Appleby. The design reflects the maritime history of the region, which is reflected in the special structural design.
The pedestrian bridge is made of five connected circular platforms of varying sizes, each with its own mast. Here, an analogy is drawn to the sailboats that cross the many canals of Copenhagen. Special cables extend from the masts, completing the unified ensemble of the project. Cirkelbroen is not a classic swing bridge — only part of it rotates when necessary. When the bridge is closed, the height from the water surface to its round platforms is 2.25 m, which is enough for small boats to pass under the bridge. To allow larger vessels to pass through the canal, the following mechanism is provided: three platforms have a common base located underwater, this base is attached to the central platform using a hinge joint, thanks to which this part of the structure rotates when necessary. As a result, a nine-meter corridor for ships is formed. The length of the bridge is 40 meters, and the weight of the entire structure is 210 tons.
Instead of providing a straight path across the canal, the bridge follows a curved line. This allows pedestrians to slow down and change their focus, paying attention to the beauty of the bridge structure. The bridge will allow residents and visitors of Copenhagen to follow a continuous route along the entire Inderhavn, significantly facilitating movement and shortening the journey.

Villainess anime reviews
went on a bit of a binge, so here's a compilation:
I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss
rating: lots of fun
one of the funnier entries on this list in my opinion, i actually laughed out loud multiple times
the protagonist is a capable and determined lady, as well as slightly unhinged which i always enjoy, i love weird women
breakneck pace, speedrunning like 3 games in the 12 episode, so it is the opposite of boring
this anime has everything: ducks, crows in bowties, crossdressing, ducks, video game brain rot, and ducks
Villainess Level 99: I May Be the Hidden Boss but I'm Not the Demon Lord
rating: at east somewhat interesting (still ongoing, episodes watched: 5)
aside from the gimmick a pretty standard isekai with pretty eh animation
a lot of this show is kinda boring, but there are still interesting and enjoyable moments
the protagonist is charming and probably the strongest part
i will probably be continuing to see what happens next so depending on that my opinion may change
The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen: From Villainess to Savior
rating: charming
one of the series from this list that i enjoyed most, even if the story and the world are a bit simple, the characters and their struggles still work and aren't too difficult to get invested in
a bit more drama in this one, with tragic flashbacks (or whatever they're called if its abt an alternate plotline) that i found maybe a little too frequent
here the protagonist is also capable, driven, and quite traumatized, i wanna hold her in my hands like a baby bird
My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!
rating: cute!
the bisexual harem is a breath of fresh air
bakarina's dumbassery is a great source of comedy, she's also pretty lovable so the harem around her is believable. and i love a gal with a hobby
I'm in Love with the Villainess
rating: eh
kinda disappointed with this one, i was hoping for some fun gl story, but it could barely watch the first episode and had to force myself to try a few more in hopes it got better (it didnt)
the romance part felt more like harassment in those first episodes, and sure, ive read that it progresses further, but the protagonist didnt really endear herself to me with that
given the comedy tag on mal there were probably some jokes in it, i just couldn't identify many good ones
7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy!
rating: hell yeah! (still ongoing, episodes watched: 6)
the best one of all shows listed and the only one that's not an isekai
much more grounded, with good worldbuilding and another capable lady as the protagonist, but this one even more so, as well as much more mature
very pretty, even if i find some character designs questionable :v
definitely got me hooked and i will be watching more

Regarding this post I made earlier examining Geeta's antics in Paldea.
In Defense of Geeta
I feel like Geeta absolutely was written to be the shitty boss she is intentionally. There's too many situations where attention is drawn to her bad habits, either as them being directly pointed out or indirectly referenced. But what I really hope the case ends up being is that she's not at all a villain. Pokemon has gone the route of the suspicious CEO-type character being the "twist villain nobody could have seen coming!" for several games now. It's getting pretty old and I feel like it would be a weak direction for S/V to take.
Interestingly enough, one actually can look at all of Geeta's actions and not really see anything nefarious about them. Discussion after the jump for the sake of spoilers and wall'o'text.
It's very easy to look at Geeta and think she's a Bad Guy, given her strange behavior and all the negative attention she gets among the fandom. I'm certainly not innocent of seeing her in a less than endearing light, given my prior post. But a lot of that view does come from real world parallels and comparing the game's presentation to past Pokemon games in which nobody ever says the slightest criticism of the Champion, which may not necessarily be fair.
One of the biggest justifications Players have to indicate Geeta is bad is the way she meddles with the Gym Leaders and how corporate she's made the League. I pointed that out myself. But to flip it around... maybe she behaves that way because it's what the Gym Leaders need?
We constantly see Geeta inserting herself into events throughout the game. She shows up at the Academy, pops up at Gyms seemingly at random, and is always talking about how she has other pressing business that pulls her away from lingering too long. The only way she gets time to participate in casual encounters is when others (usually Nemona or the Player, if not both) take some of her workload off her plate. While I criticized the way Geeta had apparently deeply intertwined the Pokemon League, the Academy, and the Paldean economy itself, it does stand to reason doing so puts a ton of work on her having to maintain it. That's her own doing though, so it's a case of her getting what she signed up for and she never seems to shy away from it despite her habit of recruiting others to help.
The Gym Leaders, though? While they do remark about Geeta meddling with them, giving frequent reviews, and otherwise sticking her nose into their business, they've also shown that they're all pretty flaky. Rather, they're a total mess both individually and collectively. It's possible that the reason Geeta is constantly keeping an eye on them is because they need that in order to fit the direction Geeta is trying to guide the League in.
When we meet each of the Gym Leaders both in our first encounter and in the rematch post-game, we learn a lot about their behaviors through casual exposure. All of the Gym Leaders have a job besides running a Gym and, with the exception of Grusha, all of them show that running the Gym is by no means their top priority. Nor are any of them especially reliable when it comes to managing their Gyms. Based on past games, we're accustomed to Gym Leaders taking a large amount of pride in their position and holding it in esteem even when they also had other simultaneous jobs. We've seen Gym Leaders and Elite Four who were also artists, performers, athletes, CEOs, and such before. That's not the case with Paldea though; to these Gym Leaders, it's just a job and not necessarily one they put a lot of personal investment into compared to their actual passions/careers. It's mentioned that Geeta "strong-armed them" into taking on the role, which can be read that she went out of her way to convince strong, capable Trainers to become Gym Leaders for the sake of Paldea and because she saw the potential they held but weren't utilizing.
Katy flat-out forgot that she was under review and only appeared for the rematch by pure coincidence because she just so happened to visit that day. When we first meet Kofu, he and his assistant are both a totally scatterbrained mess. Iono only bothers with being a Gym Leader because it gets her viewership for her streamer career; if something else better came along, she'd surely jump for it immediately. Brassius is very upfront about his artistic passions being the number one thing in his life and openly abandons his responsibilities as a Gym Leader to pursue them during the rematch. Tulip's modeling career keeps her busy and she only has just enough time to show up for a brief match before immediately leaving to get back to her work. Ryme is more focused on her music career and wasn't even the original Gym Leader; that position belonged to her sister, Professor Tyme, who left the role to become a teacher. Larry, despite being the most vocal about his dislike of Geeta's habits, is also the most distracted as he has three simultaneous jobs and constantly works overtime. Finally, Grusha doesn't have any job besides being a Gym Leader, but that's only due to an injury that has made it impossible for him to pursue his original passion. That same injury has likewise cost him his motivation and drive to improve; he's only hanging onto his role as Gym Leader because he doesn't think he has anything else going for him now.
With all that in mind, it makes sense a rigid sort like Geeta would want to keep a close watch and short leash on all these unreliable personalities, doesn't it? She has to keep tabs on them because they risk failing the various Trainers who hope to challenge them otherwise, along with squandering their own potential. Geeta is always very open about her desire to foster powerful Trainers out of Paldea, if nothing else. After the rematch, all the Gym Leaders express a level of understanding and even appreciation toward Geeta for what she's done for them. Grusha and Larry stand out in particular, as they both confess that her meddling has helped motivate them to go beyond what they've settled into. Where Larry mentions that Geeta will dock his pay if he wastes time, he also mentions that she insists he stop overworking himself with overtime hours. So it's possible she's simultaneously trying to keep him focused without letting him overdo it as well.
When it comes to how corporate Geeta has made the League, that's not technically fair to say either. It's an easy shorthand but not entirely accurate. The goal of corporations is to make profit no matter what, but that's not really Geeta's motivation. She's not looking to get rich or powerful, but to rally as many genuinely powerful and talented Trainers up within Paldea as she can. That, in and of itself, isn't at all a bad thing and is commonly shared among all regions that have a League. While I criticize League Points as being company scrip, it does supply not just Trainers but all citizens of Paldea with an alternative way of funding themselves. This would include the Gym Leaders; despite common remarks (which I have made myself) about Geeta not paying the Gym Leaders a living wage, it's entirely possible they do indeed make plenty to thrive on and just have their non-Gym Leader job because that's their true passion that they want to put their effort into. Be it cash or League Points, they do have a salary. Larry himself mentions it outright, while Grusha and Brassius don't seem to be in any financial straits despite their unstable working conditions outside the Gyms. When it comes to the region's economy as a whole, subsidizing major commercial chains throughout the region just to make food and supplies more accessible can't be cheap; when you sell goods to the PokeMart for cash, you only get a fraction of the total value, but get significantly more (usually double) the value in League Points. Geeta's overall emphasis doesn't seem to be shaping the League and its sphere of influence within Paldea to make herself wealthy or powerful, but rather to make the whole affair as plainly efficient and self-sustaining as possible. In that regard, she's done a fantastic job.
When all is said and done, I genuinely hope Geeta isn't a villain but simply a boss with lofty visions, exacting demands, and absolutely terrible interpersonal skills. I feel like she'd be a lot more interesting that way in that she'd be a genuinely flawed person without her issues just being dismissed as "because she's the Bad Guy".

What type of twitch streamers would the svsss characters be?
i think i've said before i don't think most of the characters would be twitch streamers, most of them aren't the right type of attention-seeking for that kind of thing.
i'm currently watching trackmania videos and i think shen yuan is the right kind of insane for that. by far his most popular streams, though, would be his ban review streams where he shreds people to filth over their unban requests.
binghe has the potential for the streamer's temperament, though it honestly depends on how i interpret him, but i'm not sure what games he'd play. cozy games are the pidw option -- everything the viewers want, an incredibly beautiful man in eyeliner and a v-neck playing cute little farming games or whatever, but incredibly hollow in terms of binghe's enjoyment in them i think. he might like soulsborne games, or he might do cooking streams, but i think he'd probably enjoy something with pvp the most. he spends multiple days trying to speedrun a trackmania map sy holds a record on to get his attention.
sha hualing is the only bitch here with the true twitch streamer's temperament. she's clever, calculating, and driven in addition to being gorgeous. she strikes me as someone unafraid to play the role of the exact kind of streamer twitchbros get reaaaally mad about: ditzy, cute, lowcut tops and short skirts, shallow view farming material where she just watches tiktok/youtube/other twitch streams and comments on them. a lot of people hate her because she's shallow coomer-bait, but you don't hit it big by just sitting there and looking pretty. sha hualing is undeniably charismatic and willing to put in the time and work to secure her position. the controversies she gets involved in only boost her engagement, and she's probably in the top 3% of earners. she's turned it into a science. she watches over her analytics like a warlord looks over trade routes. she intentionally starts a rumor that her and binghe slept together at twitchcon and binghe is too busy mooning over sy to care. this is not about the love of streaming or her deciding to simply broadcast another passion. success is a game to her and she intends to win, no matter how many fake teary-eyed apology videos it takes to get there.
nobody else would stream unless they were forced at gunpoint.

My Candy Love New Gen Ep. 3 Review
Okaaaaaay so since this is my first post on here: Hi there! guess who's gonna give her unasked opinion about her Playthrough of My Candy Love New Gen? ME! ofc.
LET'S TALK ABOUT IT...
So i've finished playing the episode and honestly i'm starting to wonder how the plot is gonna develop during the story.
Until now ce can't really say that the story is growing but, I mean, it's completely fine because these are the first episode so it's pretty normal that there's basically nothing but just a presentation of the character and a little peak of their routes.
The episode was pretty chill and cute for some point of view, but my only doubt is about the speed of the storytelling, i really hope that with new episode the story's gonna grow in speed or in lenght of episodes because, for how is it now, it's gonna take forever to make a real "change" in the plot (especially for Jason's route candies like me) The idea of the welcome party was EXTREMELY cute also the "preparation" part was okay;
Amanda not partecipating at the party because Candy didn't choose the park had me turn up my nose honestly, but by the way she reacted the all time, i could have guessed it. She gives me a little bit of snooty vibes but i guess it's just the shell of the character.
ELENDA. oh my ELENDA. I hope with my whole heart that she's gonna be the new Rosalya because i need it. I genueine need a ray of sunshine like her in my candy's life when she's gonna sleep with the rival agency's boss :PPPPPP (The truth or dare part XD had me DEAD, i mean come on guys, you're almost 30 and you need a TRUTH or DARE game to break the ice? LMAO. )
NOW LET'S TALK ABOUT THE CHARACTERS.
ROY. Can someone explain to me? Please don't tell me that the dare that he should have done was to kiss Candy and, because is dating Brune, he turned candy's head to kiss her on the check. Please don't tell me or imma GASP. At first i thought he was going to be the gym bro not interested in any dating or in date many girls at the same time, BUT THIS. BRUH unexpected. So i guess Candy in thi s case have to be Eric 2.0 of new gen. Love it. Let's sleep with another taken man!
Tumblr media
DEVON. So I Honestly don't know what to say about him for now because i can't really say what's gonna be the issue with him. I Just really hope is not gonna be like Hyun route ( a full of nothing) because the character seems really cute, so please beemoov give us some tea or a plot twist. Something that happened in the episode that made me actually turn my head the screen was Candy saying (if you go to him at the Mall) "It seems that he doesn't want to be the Ceo" Maybe this is going to be the route?
THOMAS. I honestly love him and i feel like his entire route is gonna be Candy tries to make him understand what is to date someone. I also have a feeling (which would make totally sense) that Thomas is either authistic or he's part of that percentual of the populations that has an IQ higher that the others. L O V E I T TBH and it's a shame that i hvae to play two time the episodes because the outfit it's not the same for jason's route.
AMANDA Snooty on the outside but a marshmallow on the inside, i'm so sure of this. My guess here is that, girl's rich ass didn't say anything to her family that she likes girls. I just really hope is not the sme thing that happened with Priya because players dont wanna play things two times.
JASON. At last but not least, the enemies to lovers we didn't know we needed. what can I say? I have a huge love for Men who are so incure of themselfs that they put up this gigantic EGO (and not Confidence) to try to hide their real self. This going to be and Astarion (Bg3) route 2.0, I'M HERE FOR IT. Btw i'm pretty sure he seduced Danica to make her leave Devenementiel, this B, love him. At least he's not taken Candies....

IkePri Rio route review
That I digged out from my memo.
Control c+v.
Finally finished this route and I DON'T LIKE IT.
1. "I'm your burden" + "I'm putting you in danger" rinse and repeat, just stop it already you two!!! Aren't you tired of those endless self-deprivicating? I'm sick of seeing same conversation and monologue again and again.
2. "You should talk things out and solve it peacefully no matter what" Girl you read hell a lot of novels containing the story of nobility and royalty yet you think everything could be solved with mere words?
3. What I think is important in otome games is the diverse interactions between the couple. But here... the guy is already infatuated with the MC so he's always devoted to her and spoils her all along the route. This is all he does to her and the MC always has the upper hand. One of the reasons I'm not really into "the guy already in love with the MC".
4. MC never changes an inch throughout the route. Only the guy changes for her sake. Well she's not one of those facepalm type MCs from the start, but her way of thinking does not change anyway. Only one side trying to change to fit for the other is NOT good. At all.
5. Am I the only one who saw awful a lot of the word SMILE in this route? When one particular term is mentioned too much in one particular route, at some point it becomes an eyesore.
What I liked?
1. Akatsuki
2. MC using foreign letters to deliver info
3. Rio and Sariel interaction
4. THIS WAS THE GEM
SILVIO POPPING OUT FROM THE PRESENT BOX
------
Ok looks like this is the end of this rant 🙃 Thanks for reading if anybody did!

Have you reviewed the pidgey line?
Tumblr media
Pidgey is basically the original early-route bird Pokemon, something that I rarely find all that interesting. While Pidgey's not our best early bird or anything, I do think it's decent, gaining a distinct visual hook and theme as it evolves.
Visually, I do like the overall body shape, which isn't based on a specific bird but looks vaguely like if you crossed a shrike with a house finch. The colors, while a plain brown and cream, are well distributed and really help to break up the body, with a darker top and a pale underbelly. The thick black streak near the eye goes off the wide edge of it and lines up perfectly against the underbelly in a way that I really like, and the dark color helps draw attention to the eye, which would be lost otherwise.
My only issue with Pidgey is that it's pretty plain at this stage. I'm more forgiving of bland first-stagers if they evolve into something interesting, but I feel like something here could've hinted at the colors it would gain later on. Give it some red on its chest, tail tip, or eyebrows to add that little pop of color.
Tumblr media
Pidgeotto (side note: Pidgeotto's and Pidgeot's names should be swapped) is one of those middle evolutions that really didn't need to exist. It looks too similar to Pidgeot, and ultimately adds nothing to line. There are a few visual things that are unique to it at least—a brown band across the chest, solid head feathers/striped tail feathers, and the tail feathers having a V shape to them—but nothing that makes it really stand out. You could've easily gone from A to C in this line and it would've worked just as well, if not even better (with things like the underbelly being more consistent without Pidgeotto).
Tumblr media
Pidgeot itself, however, I do like. It's nothing all that fancy, but those long head feathers that connect to the top of the beak and the colored tail feathers do give it just enough to stand out. The smooth body has a really nice shape to it, and it keeps all of the good elements from the previous designs, like the color blocking and dark eye markings.
Tumblr media
As a side note, Pidgeot's Gold sprite shows it with striped tail feathers like Pidgeotto. While it's kind of a good thing that Pidgeotto has something unique going for it, I kind of feel like the overall design would've looked better if they had kept the stripes with Pidgeot.
Tumblr media
And mega Pidgeot I actually really, really like. It feels like a really good example of taking a fine Gen 1 design that just feels a hair too underbaked and sprucing it up just enough to really make it stand out, all while doubling down on the original theme.
In terms of theme, it takes the colorful feathers to their logical conclusion—making the bulk of the head feathers shorter but giving it one extra-long feather, and adding an ahoge in the front for good measure. The other big change, however, is in colors. Instead of sticking to plain brown with a few yellow and red accents, the palette is shifted into orange with added blue accents that really pop nicely. All of this results in a very pretty colorful design that leaves a much bigger visual impact than Pidgeot.
I also feel like mega Pidgeot kind of highlights what I was saying about Pidgeotto being unneeded. Imagine if the line remained three stages but went (design-wise) Pidgey -> Pidgeot -> Mega Pidgeot; each stage would have it's own unique flair, with Pidgey being the plain start, Pidgeot adding longer feathers and some color, and Mega Pidgeot adding a variable rainbow of colors and bright blue accents. That's how you make each stage unique.
Tumblr media
Overall, Pidgey is simple but a decent start, Pidgeotto is uneeded, Pidgeot is pretty solid, and Mega Pidgeot takes Pidgeot's design to its much-needed conclusion. Pretty decent line all around.

Weakness - Cyberpunk 2077 Fanfic
After making herself permanently a traitor of the NUSA, V needs to protect the person she loves while grappling with that fact that she can't explain why she just gave up the best chance at a future.
Fic picks up right at the end of Phantom Liberty with "Betray Reed" and "Free Songbird" ending.
5000 words, Fem V POV, V/Judy, hurt/comfort
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
All V could feel was numb. She was alone; Johnny was done with the fireworks. No more cocky persona. No more quips, or jokes, or verbal jabs at the ghost of the rockerboy that could help her divert from growing, gnawing ache inside. Tears threatened to roll down her face that she hadn’t registered.
It wasn’t until the distant roar of the rocket boosters were replaced with the whirring of helicopter rotors that V returned back to herself. Quickly, she wiped the tears away. Songbird might be safe up there in the stars, but she still wasn’t, and she sure as shit couldn’t stop now.
She groaned as she stood. Boosters helped mask the pain, but everything hurt. Aftershocks from the Blackwell echoed in her head, pinging into the Relic and shooting spikes of pain across her eyes. Her body was riddled with bruises from where bullets had bounced from her subdermal armor and holes where she hadn’t been so lucky. Her body begged for rest, doubly so as a Relic malfunction sent a wave of weakness across it. V stumbled, grabbing onto the back of the chair.
She couldn’t have an attack here. She needed a way out.
Her escape route wasn’t obvious. The launchpads were small islands connected to the Space Port complex by monorail, but the train would be easily intercepted. The observer tower she was in was too obvious; she’d be found easily. There was only one thing she could do when left with no other option: improvise.
Glass that could withstand the concussive force of a spaceship from the outside was shattered by well-placed grenades from within. Looping her monowire around a beam, she jumped down. As the spool ran out, the force of the leap sliced through the steel, cushioning her fall slightly. Her reinforced tendons performed the rest of the work, but her foot had landed awkwardly. Fire radiated from her ankle. For as chromed up as she was, the few wholly biological parts of her remaining still managed to make their appearance.
She welcomed it, however. A reminder there was still part of her in there. That this city hadn’t taken that part of her yet. Maybe So Mi thought the same after the stadium.
She frantically scanned the area for options. The only way back to Night City was through the water, but she wasn't in any state for swimming. However, it didn’t mean she couldn’t trick the FIA into thinking so. A service hatch sat closed in the wall, near where the concrete pad ended and the Pacific Ocean began. A place to hide.
“Maybe- no, it HAS to work.”
She limped towards the edge of the launchpad. Another malfunction caused her legs to lock up, sending her tumbling to the ground.
“No. No no no no no no.”
She steadied herself and her breathing, crawling back onto her feet and reaching the ledge. The hatch was about 10 feet away. The howl of AV engines approached while V hastily threw off her shoes beside her. She only had about 30 seconds before they’d spot her. She tore off her jacket, and let it drop into the water below. As she hacked open the hatch with ease, she reviewed the plan in the head. She knew if she simply walked over to it, her footprints would most likely be seen, and her misdirection would be for naught. And so, she faced towards the ledge, squatted down, and tightened her chest, steeling herself for the pain to come.
She lept, not forward into the ocean, but sideways towards the service hatch. Spinning in the air, she faced the vent, and with the last of her strength, kicked in the air once more to rocket her body inside. Her shoulder slammed into the metal paneling hard, and, with a small pop, dislocated as she slid deeper in. Fighting the urge to cry out, she quickly closed the hatch and activated her optical camo as she heard the AVs touch down.
With her one good arm, she pulled herself around a corner and fully out of sight. She could hear the muffled shouting of orders from soldiers just over the squealing engines.
Her attention turned towards her shoulder. It couldn’t stay like this for long. She peeled off a bloodstained sock, balled it up, and bit down. Grabbing her bicep, she shoved her arm back into place and immediately injected yet another booster, her groan muffled by the sock. V was about to spit it out when she heard footsteps outside.
“OVER HERE,” the voice of a soldier called out.
Immediately, she froze. She wished that she could stop the beating of her heart so everything could be still. More footfalls followed. Flashlight beams bounced erratically on the walls of the vent.
“She’s in the water!”
Just as V began to relax, a familiar feminine voice spoke.
“Goddammit,” President Myers said. “If she’s in the water, we’ll scan for her when we delta. In the meantime, fan out and search for her. She’s tricked us before, I won’t let her do it again.”
“Fuck fuck fuck fuck” is all V could think. She began pushing herself further down the vent when another malfunction hit. Her whole body spasmed; the only thing stopping her from involuntarily shouting out was the makeshift gag in her mouth. She couldn’t move. Her entire body was frozen as all muscles tried to contract at once. The wires within her executing a faulty program threatened to tear her apart. She was utterly helpless.
Another voice spoke up, “Madam President, Orbital Air reinforcements are inbound. We don’t have much time.”
Myers sighed. A pause hung in the air.
“Fine. We’ll find her eventually. She can’t hide forever. Everyone, move-”
The Relic malfunctioned a final time, and darkness fell.
V’s head pounded when she awoke. What was more important, however, was that she was awake, and she was still in the vent. She laid there, collecting herself and simply recovering. Finally, she pushed herself up and crawled towards the exit. Sunlight flowed through the bars; it was nearly 11am. She waited briefly if anyone was walking around but detected nothing. She climbed out, nearly forgetting her ankle until pain radiated from it. It was horribly swollen and hurt like a bitch, but diagnostic scans showed it wasn’t broken: a small consolation.
She still couldn’t take the monorail. It’d lead her right to the arms of Orbital Air, and she wasn’t that much of a gonk. The water it was then.
The repetitive movement of swimming helped her focus on something, anything outside of the shitstorm that followed her and only ever increased in size. Swimming meant she wasn’t putting pressure on her ankle, which was nice. The water itself was tinged with a slight oily rainbow finish. Couldn’t damage herself more, she supposed. Water probably wasn't toxic enough to need watersuits like the tunnels, or the lake where her and Judy had their first date.
“Oh god, Judy.”
The last time she talked to Judy was before the Hanson operation. Before everything went to shit, when she dared to imagine what their life could be like once Reed had his contacts develop the cure. Lying in bed together, they had spoken of future plans and adventures, the places they’d travel to with the Aldecaldos. Hubris. It’d ended with the promise that Judy would see her in a couple days max. It’d now been six.
She had laid low after the stadium, waiting for Songbird’s call. She hadn’t risked contact with anyone, not Rogue, not Panam, not even Judy. Judy was the only one who she’d told anything about what happened in Dogtown, but all she knew was that she was backing Reed in the plot against Hanson. She knew nothing else: not where V was, not where Songbird was, not even why V betrayed Reed. Judy was of no use to the NUSA, FIA, or Myers. Or so she hoped. That’s all that she could hope for in those days that lasted an eternity.
But now, with Reed dead, So Mi gone, and Myers empty handed, the game was changed. V wasn’t good at playing it, but she knew it all the same. In Myers’ eyes, Judy had changed from a person with knowledge to a pawn to be captured.
How could she be such a gonk? She had the perfect solution, and she threw it away. She had the cure in her hands and gave it up. Now, she’s an enemy of the NUSA, and a personal enemy of the president. Everyone around her, everyone she’s come to care about and love, was in danger. And it’s all her fault. Judy might have already been taken, even before killing Reed.
Tears began to well up in her eyes, but she immediately pushed it down. She couldn’t break down. Not when Judy was in danger. She couldn’t show weakness.
V swam even faster.
After cleaning up in a bar bathroom, a change of clothes, and klepping a car, she sat in front of Lizzie’s bar. Judy was most likely at work, so it was a solid place to start. She’d wrapped her ankle as best she could, and boosted for a countless time. She could walk again, but it still ached. Scanning the crowd, she checked everyone who came and went. She didn’t find anything, although she didn’t know what she expected. FIA agents were able to cover their identities even better than she coulda. If someone was in the bar watching for her arrival, she wouldn’t be able to tell through her tech. Whether an obsession or a crutch, she’d always used tech or netrunning skills to get the upper hand. Having to rely on just her intuition uneased her.
Although, she did have something she could use. She reached up to feel her face. The FIA might be able to identify their technology through Space Port security, but an ordinary agent might not. It was worth a shot.
She looked in the mirror as her face and body morphed to Aurore Cassel. There was a slight bit of excitement when she had used the faceplate the first time that briefly overruled the sickness she felt from their murders. All she could think now was of Aurore’s real ruined face, shot by Alex, lifeless on the ground. Maybe that’s where things changed. No matter now, there were more important matters to focus on. She exited the car and walked with the strut Aurore carried as she entered the bar.
Sitting at the bar after ordering a bourbon, she turned to speak to the bartender.
“Excuse me, monsieur, is Judy Alveraz working today by chance?” she spoke in a thick French accent.
He regarded her wearily. “Who’s askin’?”
She chuckled musically. “Well let’s just say I have something that may pique her interest. I am a developer of virtu technology, and a little birdy has told me that this one has been experimenting with BD’s herself. She may have an interest in a small business collaboration.” V smiled as she swirled the caramel liquid.
“I can check and see if she’s interested. Dunno she’s even in though,” he said, and began to leave.
“Wait!”
The man stopped, a look of annoyance pastered on his face.
“A small message for her. To convince her that this is the real deal.”
She grabbed a napkin, gestured for a pen, and began to write: “It’s V. Won’t look like me but it is. Just trust me. Be ready to leave.” She folded the message, and before the bartender could take it, she pulled it away.
“Ah ah ah! No peeking! Business between ladies must be respected,” she said with a wink. Only then did she hand him the napkin, and he walked away towards the back in a huff.
V downed the remaining bourbon. She didn’t even know if she was here. She just had to wait and hope.
Johnny appeared in her vision and sat beside her.
“So Aurore,” speaking the name in an exaggerated French accent, “what’s the plan if she’s even here?”
“I don’t know, maybe leave? Delta the fuck out to the Aldecaldos?”
“And who’s to say the NUSA isn’t watching them too?”
“Militech hasn't found them yet, and they’re basically NUSA. They’re safe.”
“For now.”
“Thanks a lot, Johnny.”
“No problem.”
He disappeared once more with a mime of a drink. Alone again, she began slightly rocking on the stool. She could use another drink. Or several. No one was watching her, at least from what she could tell.
In what felt like an hour but was only 5 minutes, the bartender returned with Judy in tow. A wave of relief crashed through V’s body.
“Myers didn’t have her yet.”
She could tell that Judy was heavily guarded, inspecting every part of her. She hesitantly sat down beside her and asked, “So, what’s this deal you have for me?”
V couldn’t know if anyone was listening, so it was safest to keep up the act.
“I was thinking we could talk about this on a little drive around town. I know a cute little tea shop we could chat at, mon cheri.”
“I’d much prefer to stay here, thank you very much,” Judy replied as she nudged herself further away. V could see the distrust in her eyes, and anger too that V wasn’t being straight with her. She needed to convince her.
“I see. Well, I came here, see, because I heard you are the first to successfully scroll two BD actors simultaneously, no?”
Judy’s expression softened.
“And it wasn’t even for that erotic thrill either, no no, but a swim through Laguna Bend. A shame if I am to be frank.” Even as V said the last line, her own eyes begged for Judy to trust her.
Judy sat for a second, and hardened once more. “Someone could have told you that. How am I supposed to trust that you’re-”. Judy stopped herself. “That you’re here with… new virtu tech and not the same old junk.”
V paused, thinking hard about what she could say.
“I have something that even your abuela would love.”
Judy’s disposition changed entirely. “You know, a drive does sound good.”
They both stood up, slightly hurriedly, and walked towards the exit. V could tell Judy was staring at her, now out of fascination. V jumped into the car, starting it as Judy closed her door.
“What the fuck V? It’s been almost a week, I thought you were dead!”
“I’m sorry, ok?” the voice shifting between Aurore and V as she turned off the mask.
“You’re sorry? What… what even is this? Who was that… person? You? How the fuck… what the fuck happened?”
V began to drive. “I don’t know where to start, really.”
“Well start somewhere? I thought this was all figured out, you said it would be a couple days.”
“I know that’s what I said, I was wrong. Things… changed.”
“Yeah, sure as shit things changed.”
“I betrayed Reed.”
Judy looked shocked. “You… what?”
“I betrayed him. I just… I couldn’t.” V was driving even faster now.
“Couldn’t? Couldn’t what? Listen, I know I had a problem with you working for the NUSA, they’re like any other corpo, chew you up and spit you out when you’re not useful. You said it yourself though, V. Songbird betrayed Reed, Hanson, even Myers. She couldn’t be trusted. And yet you… what, sided with her?”
“I- I don’t… I killed Reed.” V gripped the wheel hard enough that she could feel it mold and crack under her fingers. She made a hard turn to start driving them out of town.
“V… qué has hecho…” Judy lamented as she slumped into her seat.
“What have you done,” her deck translated.
V could feel the tears beginning to return. She couldn’t explain why she did it, it didn’t make sense to her either. Why did it feel so terrible? She couldn’t show weakness though. No weakness. The world would eat her if she did.
“What happened, V?”
She looked up at the rearview mirror, and recognized the car behind her as the same one from several turns ago, its metallic gray finish catching her eye. She blinked the tears away, stating, “Hold on, we have a tail.”
V slammed the gas pedal, the car responding instantaneously and exploding through a red light. The car behind replied in kind, speeding forward and nearly avoided T-boning a truck. She watched as the passenger took a gun out while the car itself revealed installed turrets when the front bumper cover retracted.
“GET DOWN!” she ordered, as she yanked the steering wheel to the right and hurtled down an alleyway, narrowly avoiding the barrage of bullets as the turrets began to fire. The game of cat and mouse continued down several more roads, with V occasionally firing back. However, V turned onto a new road and realized they were pinned. A straightaway with no turns off of it and concrete barriers on either side.
“Fuck!”
The gray car began to line up behind them, ready to send another barrage of bullets through the car and into both of them.
Time to improvise.
She swerved and slammed on the brakes, causing the trailing car to race ahead. Its brakes squealed as it tried to change course as well, but V wasn’t focused on continuing the chase. She began to netrun, attacking the car’s internal systems. The ICE on the car was thick, confirming that this was indeed FIA. She’d broken through thicker though. The car was beginning to turn around to face them once more. She could vaguely hear the turrets begin to wind up and Judy begin to shout as she punched through the remaining layer and flipped the engine into a bomb. Before another shot was fired, the gray car exploded into an inferno.
“Ha HA, see you in hell chooms!” V whooped as she hit the gas and drove as quickly as she could out of town.
The remaining car ride was relatively silent. They stopped briefly to klep another car in case the previous one had been tagged, making sure to stay out of camera sight as they did so. They reached the Aldecaldo camp, and while V unbuckled and readied to leave, Judy grabbed her arm.
“Did you get the cure, V?”
She froze. She couldn’t even look at Judy as she muttered, “...No. I didn’t.”
“V, tell me, what happened?” she said firmly.
Her mouth felt dry.
“Songbird… So Mi… she played us all. The neural matrix… it was a one-time use…” “Shit… V-,” Judy whispered.
“She passed out on the train after telling me this. I was angry and upset, I wanted to scream at her, but I… I picked her up and took her to the shuttle.”
She still wasn’t looking at Judy, but she could already tell the look of confusion Judy had. She couldn’t bear to see her face.
“Reed somehow got on before us and demanded I hand over Songbird. He even said I could have the matrix if I did. But I… I couldn’t… I couldn’t let them have her… he gave me no choice and I shot him, and I put Songbird on the shuttle… She has it.”
Judy had let go of her arm.
“V… What the fuck, V? She betrayed you, she told that to your face, and you… you still helped her? After all that, after she jerked you around, spit on your face, and took you for a gonk. You had it V, you had the cure, and now you’re- what, an enemy of the state? Wanted for high treason? Why… why the fuck didn’t you take it?”
She could tell Judy was trying to understand, to argue on her behalf somehow, but a gonk move is a gonk move, and Judy couldn’t sugarcoat that.
It was too much. It was all too much. She was right. She’s ruined her life, or what little of her life remained. She was wanted until Myers had her head. She’d given up the best chance she’d have to live so far just for someone that betrayed her. All the heartache, all the struggle, all of the times she’d put her life on the line just for a chance at a little longer, all for nothing. In all likelihood, she was going to die, whether because there was no cure, or the only way to get it was a suicide mission, or she’d have to sell her soul to Arasaka. She would never be able to enjoy freedom with Judy.
When V was a young boy, she learned an important lesson. On the streets of Heywood, she watched as a teenager wept after taking a beating. She saw as those around him jeered, calling him a pussy, a coward, a weakling bitch. From doing small errands, she saw those who got respect where those that never weakened when shit hit the fan. The hard motherfuckers who never let their tough demeanor drop. Only a few times did she witness frailty in thought-to-be private moments, but never when shit needed to be done. Your peers, and more importantly, fixers, could never think you’d go soft in the most dire moments. So she didn’t. For decades, V refused to cry. Not when her hope that Atlanta would finally be the place she’d hit it big failed spectacularly and she came crawling back to Night City. Not when she discovered the Relic would kill her and she was slowly losing herself. Not even when Jackie died. There was always more shit that needed to be dealt with, so she could never stop. She could never show weakness. Even after so much growth, even after abandoning her lifelong dream to become a legend of Night City, she hadn’t abandoned that.
But now, for the first time in 20 years, V cried. She did more than cry. She started to wail as the dam she had built crumbled. She couldn’t do it anymore. She’d lost so much, she’d lost so many, she stood to lose so much more.
Judy had climbed over the center console and was holding her. Gently. So gently.
Was this what it meant to be weak?
It felt so nice.
She vaguely registered Panem who had jogged over with Mitch but had slowed and reversed course after looking through the windshield.
The tears continued to stream down her cheeks, and she was struggling to breathe through the shuddering sobs. She reached up to hold Judy’s arm as well. She tried to catch her breath to speak, and after several failed attempts, choked out:
“They took my face, Judy. I let them take my face.”
She continued to sob.
She was finally beginning to calm down. Her breathing was slowing, and the tears weren’t flowing as hard.
“How about we move to the back, ok?” Judy suggested, running a hand through V’s hair.
V could only nod as they both exited and re-entered the car.
“Sorry, my leg was falling asleep,” she tried to joke, letting out a half-hearted laugh.
V wiped her nose. “I’m sorry.”
“No, you don’t need to be sorry, I, uh…” she trailed off. “How… how are you feeling?”
V stared at the patterns of the pleather seat. “...Not good.”
They sat in silence a while longer.
Judy spoke up again. “What… what do you mean they took your face?”
V was slow to answer, but she could see how patient Judy was, the kindness in her eyes. “It’s how I was that French woman you were speaking to at Lizzie’s. It’s a faceplate- disguises you, makes you look, sound, and act like them. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but now… I’ve let them take so much of me. I don’t know how much you’re touching is me and how much isn’t.”
Judy’s reply was instant: “Does it matter? It’s all you.”
“Yeah… yeah I guess,” V paused briefly. “I always wanted implants, ever since I was a little kid. I was fascinated with them and was so excited to get chipped. It’s less that I ever got implants and more… When things started to get more dangerous, I thought I needed to return the favor, I guess. Put in more and more chrome to turn into a weapon no one can hurt, even as I stopped wanting to be that. Part of me wonders if I’ll always be that now. That I’ve ridden the edge and gone over.”
“V, listen to me,” Judy said as she grabbed her hand. “You are whatever you want to be. Just because you have weapons doesn’t mean you have to use them. After this is all over, you never have to take another life.
Judy raised her other hand to her face, and gently wiped away the tears with her thumb.
“Even with all that chrome, you will always be soft to me.”
Judy calling her soft so lovingly struck a chord in her. She began to cry again, softly and sheepishly. This is the most vulnerable she’d been with anyone in years, other than the encounter at Clouds.
“You will always be you, I’ll make sure of that,” she said gently. “We’ll figure that out together.”
They sat there in silence again, with Judy’s thumb continuing to stroke her face.
“I think I know why I helped So Mi.”
Judy shifted, taking her hand away from her face. “Go ahead.”
“It was before things had even started, really. We had planned to kidnap the Cassels to make the deal with Hanson. It’s gonk now to think, but I really thought we were letting them live. But when I left the trunk, Alex and Reed had zeroed them immediately. When I demanded why, he said that they were career criminals, and that nothing of value was really lost, and I… I felt sick. That could’ve been me. And that- I’ve done that to so many others. And I was about to be the person they killed. He did it so methodically. It’s like… if we weren’t having to work together here, I saw what he would think of me. I saw what he would think of Songbird. I saw that he was too loyal to the NUSA, a soldier through and through. Songbird would never be free, and I might not be either.”
V continued, “I hated her. I still hate her for what she did. She could’ve just told me before all this. She gave me so much hope and… crushed it. But something I didn’t realize then that I do now is that… she didn’t have to tell me. She could’ve let me believe that I was saving myself by saving her, and I would’ve killed Reed without question. She would’ve won. I think in that moment, when she told me, she wanted to just… just die. She couldn’t live with herself anymore. I think I recognized that, subconsciously, and I pitied her. In front of me was a woman who had backstabbed everyone she could so that she could finally crawl out from under Myers’ boot… for the chance to break out of her cage. I could see myself in her, if I was left with no other option, and I had everything and everyone I ever valued stripped from me. I think… I think I was that. Or almost was. After Konpeki. I… I still had… have options. Worse ones, probably, but other chances. She didn’t. I don’t… I… I couldn’t take that from her.”
V began to tear up again. “I had the killing blow. She was helpless. Reed was offering me back my life on a silver platter. And for the first time, I couldn’t take someone’s future for my own…” she ended with a half smile. “I was weak.”
Judy looked at her for a few seconds, hesitantly starting, “I… I don’t know if you did the right thing. But… what I do know is what you did certainly wasn’t weak. That takes a level of grace I think only you have. I don’t think I woulda been able to do that.”
“I think you’re sellin’ yourself short.”
“I dunno, I am a pretty stone cold bitch.”
They both giggled, and V reached out to hold her other hand.
“After I left your room, but before the mission, I met with Alex at her bar. We drank and talked about what we’d be doing if things were normal.”
Judy raised an eyebrow. “What’d you say?”
“I thought about it for a while, and I said… I think I’d be dead. If it wasn’t Konpeki, it would’ve been something else. The pace I was going at… I would’ve burned up. Or been shot on the side of the road. I don’t think I would’ve changed. The Relic, Johnny, all of this… this second chance is what I needed, in a weird way. A wake-up call. I wouldn’t have met you, or have… any of this. Even if, in the end, this is borrowed time… I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Judy leaned forward and kissed her. It was a slow, deep kiss, and just as gentle as before. V leaned in, ready to return her tenderness.
They separated briefly.
“I love you, Judy.”
“I love you too, mi calabacita.”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I finished Phantom Liberty a few days ago, and the ending of letting Songbird live ate my brain. The ending was WAY too nonchalant for literally making yourself a traitor of a country and personally pissing off the fucking president, which is why I took it upon myself to get what I wanted. Literally wrote this over the span of two days like a woman possessed.

"Triangle" review
Tumblr media
Novel from 1983, again by Sondra Marshak & Myrna Culbreath (NOO!!), and the last one they wrote (YAY!!!). Has the same elements of their previous novels: a weak, puny Kirk; an overbearing Spock; a super-powerful warrior woman and a super-powerful evil man; lots of pretentious philosophy; and at least 2145 times that someone "bowed fractionally". Though at least this time nobody seems to be naked half the book...
It's a pity, because the central theme was interesting in the beginning, before devolving into a messy melodrama.
Some spoilers ahead:
The Enterprise is carrying Ambassador Gailbraith to the planet Zaran. And as many of these Star Trek ambassadors, he becomes a real pain in the ass, once he starts assimilating crewmembers into the collective consciousness he heralds as the future of the galaxy: the Oneness. There's maybe some precedent here for Sybok's cult in Star Trek V. And some interesting insights into the conflict between individualism and the collective. Had the novel taken a more political or Trek-like approach to the conflict with the Oneness, it would have been a better novel, in my opinion. Instead, we got the fist-fights and battles between "a Chosen one" and "an evil overlord" that these authors seem to love that much.
En route towads Zaran, the ship stops to rescue a Federation Free Agent, that had just landed on a savage planet (dinosaur planet). The Free Agent is Sola Thane, a half-Zaran woman with incredible hunting skills. And, inexplicably, Kirk falls in love with her immediately, and it seems as if they were long-separated lovers that had been waiting for each other all this time, despite they having just met! If that wasn't enough, Spock also falls in love with her, and enters into pon farr mode at first sight. So once back in the ship, Sola has sex with Spock to save his life. And then she also has sex with Kirk? I'm not sure. Maybe she has sex with nobody; the narrative is so obscure at times, that I had no clue what was going on... And I said before that both Kirk and Spock fall in love with her, but it just... doesn't feel like it. It's obvious the authors just wanted to write K/S slash, and they're using Sola as a mere screen. So the whole thing seems inauthentic, with both Kirk and Spock worrying more about each other than about her, and insisting she chooses the other one. I mean, either write a female love interest, or don't write her at all. But if you choose to have her, at least give her some personality and development.
It turns out that Sola is fighting against a different brand of Oneness that has taken her planet (and soon, the entire galaxy!), and is much more malevolent: the Totality. This Totality wants her to bond with a male, since in her species, a bonded female releases powerful psychic energies. And the Totality wants to use these to amplify its control over millions of enslaved individuals. The meeting between Sola, Kirk and Spock was thus arranged by the Totality (or by Gailbraith; I can't make head or tails of it, really). Under these conditions, Kirk decides to ally himself with Gailbraith, who also opposes the Totality as a rival force, in order to better help Sola in her quest. Thus, the "Triangle" of the title doesn't refer just to the love triangle between Sola, Kirk and Spock. It's also a reference to the triangle of forces at war: the Oneness, the Totality, and individualism (represented by Kirk).
Anyway, Sola can't choose between Kirk or Spock, and seems unable to form a bond with either, so she's going to die too!! (because her species also go through a similar thing as pon farr). The leader of the Totality, Soljenov, transports then to the ship, which had been falling under its influence, and abducts Sola, Kirk and Spock, sending them to dinosaur planet. Down there, Soljenov tries to force Sola into a "mate-hunt" and rescue either Kirk or Spock, so she bonds with one. There are lots of monster-killing battles in this part, and Kirk rips his clothes (and this one is post-TMP Kirk, not TOS Kirk, though you'd never guess it by his behavior). Still Sola can't choose between both, and they decide their strenght against the Totality lies in them being a triangle, precisely.
In the last part, the three of them storm the Totality's stronghold inside a volcano. And there are some Dragon Ball fights with bolts of psychic energy and such. Sola has to choose again between rescuing Kirk or Spock from a couple of ledges over molten lava. But it doesn't matter, because she saves both, and then goes on to sacrifice herself for the galaxy (predictably). A "power of love" speech also makes both the Totality and the Oneness to reconsider their plans of conquest. Ah! McCoy had also arrived in the volcano, but he does nothing, as is his custom in the novels of this pair.
Spirk Meter: 10/10*: No love triangle can disguise the real intentions behind this story. Kirk and Spock share a mind bond, their close relationship is legendary even among strangers, and McCoy reflects that the two men have "virtually become one". Kirk also says that he's the best expert on Spock in the galaxy. And both of them try to sacrifice themselves to save the other more times than I cared to count. In one scene, Spock comes to the rescue, when Gailbraith mind-melds with Kirk and starts assimilating him. And (jealously) replaces Gailbraith's link with his own, while calling Jim "t'hy'la".
There's a little Spones and McKirk too. McCoy lies about his psychic sensibility, and even if he'd never admit it, he's said to "bask" in Spock's mental energies. We're also informed that McCoy knows Kirk's mind and body better than his own... Just how physical get those physicals, Doctor?

Different anon Cyberpunk has good character customization, both in terms of visual customization and in terms of your builds. Notably, it is a real RPG, opposed to a more theme parky RPG, in that you will make choices which will enable or lock off certain approaches and rewards. This gives a high amount of replayability and makes your choices feel meaningful. My character was a low-intelligence hacker with high stealth, so I invested in cyberware such as a super-jump to circumvent areas and sneak better. I recall memorably subverting about half of a "mall" dungeon by simply leaping to the upper level. And I got an exclusive car by finding a secret B-route to a quest involving a character called Pan-Am. Visually, you have a lot of options but despite the focus on character customization early on I would describe it as merely "In-depth, but ultimately average." You have a lot of options, but cannot truly push your aesthetic in visuals alone. I made my character covered in tattoos, and with heart-pupiled cyber-eyes and blonde hair and then ran around in a catsuit with pumps. But I could not make them have enormous hips, for example. The game is also putting in costumes soon (or maybe they already have) enabling you to look how you want all the time, which is very nice. And the options are in-depth enough that one gameplay session was literally just me running around to each clothing shop to get a good aesthetic. In other words, you will be able to make a character who feels like your own - But, it's also not one of the greatest or most memorable character editors There's also the storyline. In this game, you control a character named V. You have a lot of input on them. You dictate what kind of a person they are. You dictate their approach to things, and even their backstory (Which gives three entire options with their own little plot and call-backs.) But I think the idea that, despite all the customization you have, you are still ultimately a set character in this story and not your own creation may be a bit of a turn-off for some people really into making their RPG protagonists their own. On the other hand, though, lacking that blank slate energy does allow some involvement of the origin you pick in written scenes. It's also worth noting the game is first-person, so you won't see V all that much. They added in a variety of nailpolish options knowing this though, which is honestly very cute. So, overall, I would say the character customization is good if taken as a whole. But it's also not the best I've seen or anything even close to it. You will absolutely be able to make a character your own, if that is your primary concern. But you might not be able to make the perfect cyberpunk OC of your dreams.
This is a pretty good review ngl 👀

BREAKING: Federalist Society leader Leonard Leo paid Ginni Thomas OFF THE BOOKS—$80,000, with at least one $25,000 payment being routed through Kellyanne Conway.
Leo specifically said that the payments should not mention Ginni Thomas.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Conservative judicial activist Leonard Leo arranged for the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to be paid tens of thousands of dollars for consulting work just over a decade ago, specifying that her name be left off billing paperwork, according to documents reviewed by The Washington Post.
In January 2012, Leo instructed the GOP pollster Kellyanne Conway to bill a nonprofit group he advises and use that money to pay Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, the documents show. The same year, the nonprofit, the Judicial Education Project, filed a brief to the Supreme Court in a landmark voting rights case.
Leo, a key figure in a network of nonprofits that has worked to support the nominations of conservative judges, told Conway that he wanted her to “give” Ginni Thomas “another $25K,” the documents show. He emphasized that the paperwork should have “No mention of Ginni, of course.”
Conway’s firm, the Polling Company, sent the Judicial Education Project a $25,000 bill that day. Per Leo’s instructions, it listed the purpose as “Supplement for Constitution Polling and Opinion Consulting,” the documents show.
In all, according to the documents, the Polling Company paid Thomas’s firm, Liberty Consulting, $80,000 between June 2011 and June 2012, and it expected to pay $20,000 more before the end of 2012. The documents reviewed by The Post do not indicate the precise nature of any work Thomas did for the Judicial Education Project or the Polling Company.
The arrangement reveals that Leo, a longtime Federalist Society leader and friend of the Thomases, has functioned not only as an ideological ally of Clarence Thomas’s but also has worked to provide financial remuneration to his family. And it shows Leo arranging for the money to be drawn from a nonprofit that soon would have an interest before the court.
In December 2012, the Judicial Education Project submitted an amicus brief in Shelby County v. Holder, a case challenging a landmark civil rights law aimed at protecting minority voters.

im writing a full smpronpa review because honestly that fic kinda changed my brain chemistry. this will be bullet point format as i am lazy
okay, so disclaimer- i havent seen smplive so i cant talk about those streamers characterizations. HOWEVER, i had a 3 year long derange danganronpa phase and have been abnormal about technoblade since 2017 so i do consider myself a bit of an expert on those aspects. oh also im taking the poke route and replacing that guy with yahi 👍
- gettin the techno things outta the way. first off, really likes his characterization and how it didnt fall into the trap of “overly bloodthirsty and unemotional” technoblade while still keeping his hitman status from tekkitlive i believe? and his deadpan demeaner. A+
- on the negative side, i will never get forgive the author for missing out his speech quirks like dropping the “g” at the end of words or constant use of “bruh”. additionally, plotwise, i feel like technoblade as the hitman sent after schlatt and co was disregarded a bit too quickly? and also came off as weird considering no one was meant to have any memories?? like why did schlatt and co and techno remember that part??? idk that just confused me but its danganronpa so whatevs
- the talents. they didnt.. feel like they had much of a purpose? like they didnt feel like they added much to the characterization, but that does add something interesting to the fact that the talents were a fake concept all along so i will not say if this was good or bad and will leave it up to you
- speaking of, was there a reason we never found out ty or travis’ talents? like they died and we just never found out what they were or why we didnt know. like. that confused me
- on the OTHER hand. the fake talents imply that yahi made HIMSELF the ultimate comedian which is objectively hilarious. big obama giving obama a medal energy
- poke. girl they did so little with him that i REGULARLY forgot he was there. bro just do SOMETHING with him. however, this is also a classic danganronpa experience so i will accept it
- the third trial kinda went crazy. i liked the twist on two victims to instead be two killers. genuinely an interesting version of the third chapter, and ryan was like.. a weirdly compelling character, especially after that trial
- half of the end twists were just straight ridiculous. im not.. really a fan of the “it was joko actually it was yahi actually it was cooper” thing, but its very sdr2 core so tbh thats fair. on the other hand, what in the world exactly happened to joko????? like he was at the final trial for like a Minute but he was dead beforehand in the flashbacks???? was he a robot????????? im so confused
- also, what was the purpose of charlie fakin his death? once again, very danganronpa of them but fundamentally kinda weird and unnecessary. i understand the in universe explanation but like.. out of universe why was that decision made?
- i would like the give the author massive kudos for the actual murders and trials. as someone who has participated in and even RAN danganronpa fangame rps, that shits HARD. it was pretty well done! not perfect, and some parts were hard to follow but i have ABSOLUTELY seen worse
- i also started really liking angel as a character. i liked the choice to have her actually be a detective lying about her “ultimate” and she felt very genuine and interesting. schlatt also came across as a pretty interesting antagonist with canon-typical confusing motives
- also whatever the fuck joko and cooper had going was gay as HELL. like idk what was up but it was deeply homosexual
- i also liked the way the ending had a sort of commentary on fan culture and the increasing escalation of entertainment for the cruel enjoyment of the masses. very yugioh arc v z-arc core for the like two people who get that reference. im not entirely sure on how WELL it was executed especially within the wider context, but i still found it interesting
thats the general review! ill update this if i realize i forgot stuff but all in all thats what i wanted to say

this is genuinely like one of the funniest reviews I’ve read. I don’t normally like snarky reviews or ones that shit on the whole game but this one got me. obv a lot of things weren’t totally understood and this is like a train of thought review from 10 years ago- so just take it as funny instead of serious :) this particular section had me cracking tf up, explaining what goes down at the end of Shuu’s More Blood route. that fire was wild

GUYS DONT PRESS P ON THE TITLE SCREEN WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE (Dev log #15)
AT LAST, SUMMER IS HERE!!!!! I am so excited I can finally rest I- oh right. Summer classes. Sigh. Well, they don’t take up the whole day thank god and I don’t need to be there, but It’s still not exciting. Oh well. Maybe I’ll play the sims 4 again and check on how my poor little torture victims are doing/j Jk jk, I don’t torture my sims. Unless you consider naming them things probably EA wouldn't approve of, then yeah I guess I am a horrible person.

But yeah, on the week I released the demo (which by the way, thanks for the 58 views!!!! thas crazy) I was putting up with finals. Some of my classes had to be pushed to the next week, and that was INFURIATING. It was kinda agony because I just wanted everything to be done and over with and I was practically exhausted. Like sleeping at 7 pm exhausted. Yeah......Well, should I even talk about how my life is going? I flunked the review for my major. Thank god, honestly. I mean, I didn't do it on purpose, and I am sad in a way that I flunked it, but I didn't want to continue on the route I was going on. I feel kinda stupid for even trying but I guess it's ok to make mistakes in your early 20's rather than your 30's... for some reason.
Ok, dev time. I decided to take a break from making sprites for a bit. So I worked on a part of the game that I would have left a secret, but I think it’s quite funky hehehe

I like old computers. I would have replicated the windows XP thing because I have so many memories of it, but I'm scared Windows might snipe me or something. I once was lying on the couch my parents turned into a bed (I think I was sick at the time), and it was late at night, and the computer was shutting down (it played this sound: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gb2jGy76v0Y) and for some reason the noise absolutely scared the absolute living shit out of me (I think I was like 4-5 years old and I was terrified of bassy sounds). I do not remember ever having any positive relationships with computers before I turned 6 lol. I’m pretty sure I used to think I could live without them. Oh you poor bastard. If you saw me now not only would you not understand a single word I’m saying, you would be incredibly disappointed with how dependent I am on computers. I think once I'm done with that I'll try to fix whatever is going on outside scene, because that's the only scene that causes the game to crash. I'm pretty sure it's because there's too many objects, because when I turned off the animations and the visibility it still took forever to load (like, nearly 2 seconds. The scene takes 4 seconds to load, and normally a scene would take me less than a second to load). soooo, uh yeah, I'm trying to find an occlusion culling equivalent to solve this because that's a 3d game thing, and this is a 2d game lol. I'm thinking of turning off visibility for when they're outside the viewing frustrum (player's line of sight, or more like rectangle) because it cuts down half the time for when the scene loads. If nothing works I guess it's just deleting and re-adding the child back into the scene every time the camera is on them... sigh. If it ticks me off too much I'll probably return to doing sprites because there's still a lot to do lol.
Well.... I so far got no other ideas for references in this game, so I guess I'll put in the inspiration of the outro (which is the Portal outro)
youtube
(not my video)
I know, I know. Cheesy. BUT instead of it being in the antagonist's view, it's the protagonist's view instead. I tried singing for the song, but every time I do I make Jojo Siwa sound like a professional vocalist (I don't even know why she still sings. Didn't she bust one of her vocal chords already? Or is that a rumor? Either way that's already gotta be a sign that you probably shouldn't continue on the route you're on.) I literally had 5 attempts on my computer and they all sound horrible. I'm not going to put them on the internet for my sake and your sake too. So yeah, no vocals. But the lyrics will still be there. They won't have the typing effect though.
I once had a strange dream that I was looking through the itch.io comments and someone kept spamming about how they headcannoned Xandra to be a trans man and were like honestly I don't know how my brain combined those several factors together but I find that funny.
