My problem with this is that Warwick is an established League of Legends champion, with his own lore. All of the other Piltover/Zaun champions in Arcane were allowed to be their own characters, but Warwick was relegated to plot device level.
Additionally, his human self, Vander, was treated like a major character in S1 Act 1. This made Warwick’s treatment in S2 especially jarring, because why would the writers put so much effort into developing Vander as a character, foreshadow his becoming Warwick, and then not give Warwick the same sort of treatment?
The writers could’ve made their point that Vander is gone and the sisters need to let him go while not turning Warwick into a plot device.
“When Jinx kills the power on Vi’s gauntlet forcing her to let go, it’s symbolically putting Vi in a place being forced to move on.”
I have a problem with this too. If the writers intended that to be Vi’s lesson, as a main character, Vi should’ve had her own arc that showed her learning to let go and move forward with her life. Which would’ve culminated in a final moment at the end of the season where she shows that she’s grown and learned to let go.
It's interesting how many fans (usually Warwick fans) fail to realize that Warwick in s2 is meant to symbolically represent the past for Jinx and Vi. Their trauma haunting them. How it brings them together, but also how it ruins them. They cannot escape it. So when Jinx kills the power on Vi's gauntlet forcing her to let go, it's symbolically putting Vi in a place being forced to move on. To bury the past behind her. It is removing the strings tying Jinx to the past - as long as Vi chases her, she'll never be free. So by blowing up Vander, she is setting both herself and Vi free from the weight of their past.

Day 7 - Free Day
Silko annoyed everyone with the fact that he always wins poker and his friends set him up. Vander takes his prize.

Current WIP between smaller projects! Still fiddling a little with lines and colors. I'm excited to get where I can start the background and detail work though! Always save the best for last ;)

You know, I think Vander gets too much criticism for the advice he gave to Vi about responsibility. I am not denying that it did cause her a lot of trauma and burdened her a lot, but I think the reason it traumatized Vi was because of the circumstances in which the advice was given, not because the advice was bad.
Teaching your kid about responsibility is good parenting. Contrast this to how Silco raised Jinx, giving her no limits, letting her do as she pleased and even encouraging her bad behaviors. This is not good parenting, and we see how Jinx turned out due to Silco raising her like that.
Vander having that talk to Vi about how she has responsibility over the others is a good thing: she is the oldest and her siblings look up to her, so she needs to be aware of the example she is giving them. She had also just acted recklessly by invading Jayce’s lab, so, as far as he knew, it was a good moment to talk to her about responsibility.
The problem (and what traumatized Vi) isn't that Vander was a bad parent to Vi or unfairly gave her responsibilities she shouldn’t have (she was the oldest, she should be given more responsibility). The problem is that tragedy struck at the worst possible time, and that turned Vander's words to Vi into something that became ingrained in her in the worst way possible. Because of what happened (Vander and the boys dying, Vi getting arrested, losing Powder), Vi took his words to mean that everything was her fault, that she was responsible for everything, and that later made her feel like she was responsible for Jinx and her actions. And because of what happened, Vander wasn't there to tell her that none of that was her fault. He wasn’t there to tell her that she shouldn’t feel responsible for Jinx and her actions. (Which he would have told her, by the way. In the AU universe, he reproaches Powder for only looking after the others and never “filling her own cup”. If he had seen Vi constantly putting others before herself as an adult, he would have told her the exact same thing he told AU!Powder)
The thing is, Vander couldn't have predicted what would happen that night, and that his words combined with the events of that night would end up being a burden in Vi’s life. This was all an accident of fate. Vander isn't to blame for that, he wasn't a bad parent for saying that to Vi or for giving her responsibilities, he was just unlucky by saying this at the exact worst time right before such a terrible tragedy would happen to Vi, and he wasn’t able to be there to tell her that she shouldn’t blame herself for everything (in this way, he parallels Vi, who also says words to Powder that she can't take back because of circumstances outside of her control - being kidnapped and taken to Stillwater, which means she couldn’t go back and fix the damage her words had done).
Vander couldn't have known the negative impact his words would have and that Vi would take all the wrong lessons from it (learning to be self-sacrificing instead of simply learning to be responsible). He thought they had their whole lives ahead of them. He thought he would be there for Vi to guide her along the way, help her navigate her responsibilities, help her learn the right lessons from his words (to be responsible, not self-sacrificing). He couldn't have known they'd be ripped apart. He was a good parent who gave a good advice to his daughter, but at a completely wrong time. That’s the tragedy of it all.
