OK, as an embryologist who has worked in andrology for years before, I need folks to know something.
Vasectomies are NOT 100% reversible.
If you or a partner are considering one, and you think that there is even a SLIGHT chance you might want children in the future, BANK SPERM BEFOREHAND.
When a vasectomy is reversed, you WILL NOT regain your previous sperm count. Most of the time, sperm counts fall dramatically after a reversal, and it will be much more difficult to conceive intentionally without assistance from fertility treatments. Vas reversals can also fail, which would then require surgical procedures to retrieve sperm should you want to conceive later. My clinic probably does 2-6 surgical sperm retrieval procedures a month, and a solid most of them are due to failed vas reversals.
This has been a PSA from your local extremely tired embryologist who wants people to know that "vasectomies are reversible" comes with a couple of big bold asterisks that should be talked about before folks go rushing into it.

Instead of forcing women to go through extreme physical, psychological, hormonal, societal & economical changes against their will, start …
1.) holding men accountable for causing unwanted pregnancies.
2.) creating a better society which doesn’t systematically disadvantage and harm pregnant women & mothers.
3.) creating a society in which pregnant women‘s & mothers financial independence, careers and freedom aren’t limited.
4.) improving the medical system and the knowledge of women‘s anatomy & specific medical needs so every woman has access to the best treatment possible.
5.) eliminating medical abuse and medical neglect.
6.) funding EVERY treatment/support a pregnant woman and mother might need or want to feel as good & healthy as possible (recovery MUST be a priority).
7.) challenging societal expectations and judgement regarding pregnancy, mothers and motherhood.
8.) providing actually informative and female-centered sex ED.
9.) providing free & accessible birth control.
10.) and if you‘re really THAT ignorant and "pro-life", start making vasectomies mandatory.

Howdy!!! I was wondering if you could write about S/O asking their clone lover if they would get a vasectomy? I've never felt comfortable with birth control, with it having side effects and the chance of not working. But vasectomys seem very effective and are reversible! If you dont feel like doing all of the clones, you can just do the bad batch! Or just Crosshair, he's my favorite 😍. If you're not comfortable writing this, I totally get it! Thanks for reading my ask anyway! I love your writing!
Crosshair's my favorite too 😊
But let's throw all the bois and batch into this one... Except for Echo, who I headcanon to not have a fertile/working *ehem* member, so no worries on that front if he's your partner. Let's sub him out for... Gregor? Howzer? Ooh, wait, how about Bacara!
[18+ only below the cut, please and thank you]
Cody, Rex, and Kix are totally fine with this plan. Whether you don't want kids yet, ever, or any more, they will always defer to you in these matters. They don't have strong preferences and simply want you to be happy. If you're more comfortable with them getting sterilized over the alternatives, then your wish is their command.
Tup, Dogma, and Tech will want to do some research first, and discuss what your goals are with birth control as a couple. Permanent solution or temporary? Short and long term side effects? Cost? Etc. Once you're on the same page and decide a vasectomy is the right thing for your relationship, then they'll gladly do their part.
Jesse, Hunter, and Wrecker will blanch at the idea of getting snipped. They're very, um, sensitive over anything regarding their genital area. Don't get them wrong, they'll still do it for you, of course. But the thought kinda sorta really freaks them out, despite it being a routine, safe procedure. They'll need a pep talk and lots of aftercare to get them through it.
Wolffe, Fox, and Crosshair are actually thrilled at the idea. Maybe not about the process itself, but at the idea of having an effective way of preventing an unplanned pregnancy. The thought always secretly stressed them out. But if all it takes is a simple procedure and then you two can get intimate in whatever way you want with few to no consequences? Deal. Sold. Done.
Fives, Hardcase, and Bacara are also okay with getting the ol' snip-snip, though they will put it off for as long as you'll let them. They don't like the idea of having to take it easy for a while afterward - in their daily life as well as in the bedroom. When they do get it done, you'll have to keep a close eye on them so they follow the recovery plan properly.

Cw: a little description of childbirth, not so descriptive tough!
Happy never a father's day!
Tumblr media
Today is fathers day on my country, and this idea popped in my head! this is a quick lazy sketch because I didn't feel like working too hard on something that definitely is going to be a major flop
More Bakukuro lore, he didn't think on getting snipped until his mother trumatized him with his birth storytime.

With access to safe abortion and contraceptives being increasingly restricted, I just wanted to say a big ole happy international women’s day to the massive rise in vasectomies. You love to see it 💃🏻

After last summer's Supreme Court ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization allowed states to ban abortion, urologists across the United States saw a dramatic surge in the demand for vasectomies.
Normally, vasectomy procedures peak towards the end of the year, but the mid-year Court decision led to an unexpected increase in demand in 46 states.
The greatest increases in patients undergoing this elective procedure were in states that implemented "trigger bans" severely limiting abortion access. These states experienced an average increase of 41% in vasectomy rates between July and September, compared to 26% in other states. States such as Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah saw rates rise by more than 40%.
The post-Dobbs patients opting for vasectomies tended to be younger than the typical candidates. Data from Komodo revealed a small but consistent drop in the average age of patients undergoing vasectomies in the latter half of 2022.
Motivations behind this trend varied among patients. Some men expressed concerns about the lack of a reliable backup if their primary contraception method failed in the absence of abortion access, as vasectomy has a success rate of over 99%. Others were motivated by the fear that vasectomy itself could be outlawed next. Among this younger demographic of patients seeking to take control of their reproductive responsibilities were men who saw their decision as an act of solidarity with women.
Due to longstanding patriarchal constructs, vasectomy is viewed as a sacrifice for many men, involving recovery time and potential risks, along with misconceptions and concerns about its impact on masculinity. In reality, recovery time for this simple 30-minute outpatient procedure is 2-3 days, and there is no clinical evidence to support the notion that a vasectomy leads to a decreased sense of masculinity. The procedure does not have any direct physiological or hormonal effects on masculinity, sexual function, or masculinity-related characteristics.
In fact, by opting for vasectomy, men share the responsibility of contraception and alleviate the burden on women. By doing so, these men further embody the traditionally masculine traits of responsibility, self-reliance, decisiveness, and courage through taking an active role in family planning.
While the overturning of Roe v Wade has decimated women's rights in America, the increase in vasectomies following the ruling may be seen as a small consolation, a small step toward the long aggrieved concept of gender equity. As more men take proactive measures to dismantle the patriarchal idea that both conception and contraception are solely "women's issues," they act as leaders showing others the intrinsic value in the dignity and selflessness of their decision.
While our nation's leaders continue to restrict the rights afforded to pregnancy carriers, we are fortunate to have a younger generation of the impregnator class recognizing the devastating, often deadly effects of these laws and mastering the art of doing something about it.

I think it’s hot when men get a vasectomy because they know what birth control does to a woman’s body and don’t bash them if they’re not on birth control because it shouldn’t be their responsibility.

I have scheduled my vasectomy.
It is not a myth how easy it is to do this.
I called my doctor, asked him to set it up, he called me back in 20 minutes with an appointment.
Don't let my romantic life fool you, I mostly hang out with women. 99% of my closest friends are in possession of a uterus and fallopian tubes and most of them have at some point complained to me about not being allowed by their doctors to have a tubal ligation. Only one was permitted to have a hysterectomy without catching any shit or being talked out of it and that was because she had cancer in said uterus.
Let it be known, Uncle Eli thinks this is bullshit. We just will not be a free enough country to be bragging about it until everyone is allowed to make their own healthcare decisions...yes, even people with uteri. Novel fucking concept, yeah?
Scary to have a wife and daughter in the US...

I love this headline. It conjures a beautiful world where Floridian peacocks are financially thriving so thoroughly as to afford voluntary medical procedures.
