If I care about someone super close to me I have a reflex of saying “I love you” with my goodbyes to them. I done it with my friends so many times they think it’s cute.
So what if with Vox Machina their crush was about to leave to go do something. Like go to the market, go nap, etc. and they’re just like “okay love you see ya later” and the crush walks off like as if they didn’t just say they love them.
Awww! Dang it this is so cute!! 😭💞🥹🩵💙
a/n - this kinda got angsty 😅😪
Tumblr media
Percy
He’s got the biggest blush on his face ever but no, no! He’s not one to rush into feelings even if he wanted to (with you 👀)
Grog
Has the cutest reaction and picks you up in his big arms; honestly just go along with it he’s a sweetheart 😅
Keyleth
She’s like “wait? What?! Really!!?” and thinks you’re half serious until she’s kind of blushing, half relieved-half crushed
Vax’ildan
I feel like this could go one of two ways 😅
Romance wise (on his end), he just says it back like it’s second nature to him because that’s how loving you is to him
Platonic, he’ll just say it back casually too 😁 but still be kinda yearning underneath
Pike
Her head perks up like “oh wait? really?” until she realizes it was intended differently, then it’s like “pfft yeah, love you too but not like that”
Vex’ahlia
Oh. Oh. Is this happening?? Is this right now?? Oh no, oh you didn’t mean it like that. Oh well… you’re free to love whoever you want darling
Scanlan
He’s so hopeful at first but then “tries” to play it off casually but gods damn it he wants to say it back to you too

Hi I just saw your post!
Could I ask you do an imagine with percy or vax (or both😅) where they find their soulmate and what it is like. Smut if you like.
Thank you 😊
I can do that! I gotcha! This will not be NSFW. Some spoilers for Season 2 will be in this. I have many other requests in the web I’m creating right now. So, we’ll have an easy one today!
Percy De Rolo
Tumblr media
You would join Vox Machina off a whim. Got caught up in a tavern brawl and got kicked out with them.
You actually hit it off with Scanlan and Grog out of the rest of the group first. Then, Pike, Vax, and Vex. Percy didn’t accept you at first. He was wary of you because of his past.
You made it your entire effort into wanting to become Percy’s friend. You slowly gained more feelings for him the more you harassed him into a friendship.
He slowly became comfortable with you. Of course, you would never know that. He loves your company. He will never admit it.
You both are on the same wave length with everything, be it his crafting or to strategy in battle. Always by each others side.
You could sense something familiar about his aura. He found the same in you.
Soon enough, he found comfort in you. Just your presence can help ease if spiraling spirit.
He would always tell himself this is nothing more than a friendship but, he always felt deep down that he was lying to himself.
You knew you loved him with all your heart so, you would always remain by his side. No matter if he got with someone else or never at all.
He wouldn’t realize you are his soulmate until the falling of Whitestone.
You were the only one that could calm down his inner turmoil and was the one to sacrifice everything you could to keep him and his friends safe.
He finally knew it for sure when he was getting taken over by the spirit his gun possessed and accidentally shot you in the side. (As we know that never happened but in this little imagine, it did).
You went down and it snapped him into reality. He ran to catch your body only to be stopped by Scanlan and Grog as Keyleth got to work after being brought back herself.
After that day, for a while, he couldn’t stand to be out of his quarter’s at the Keep. He even refused to look at himself in the mirror.
You made a swift recovery and was told by the rest of the group about what Percy has been doing, Isolating himself.
You went to his door and knocked on it.
Percy was hesitant but opened the door. Before he could do anything, you hugged him and told him that it wasn’t his fault and that he’s okay.
He was caught off guard as he hugged you back. He listened as you consoled him, telling him that it was the spirit inside that did it, not him, and that he didn’t need to worry anymore because its gone and she is okay now.
He slowly pulled you inside during the hug and closed the door. After it shut, he let out the tears he didn’t know he was holding back.
He let himself spill, telling how he felt and that he is sorry. He needed to tell you that he wants to be by your side forever.
Of course, you feeling the same told him that you will never leave and that if you can handle what just happened and can make amends, you can get through anything.
Vax’ildan
Tumblr media
I feel like Vax is really in tune with himself.
When he first meets you in a market place, he stole your coin purse but, your keen eye saw him do it and you stole it back and his on top of it. Sending him a wink as you walked away.
He was starstruck. He at least knew that he was in love with you.
When they moved on, he hoped to revisit and see you again but, he didn’t hold to any hope because people have lives and move around too.
He long forgot about you after that because he and the group were really busy and he got caught up in other feelings for Keyleth, which didn’t end well for him so, he hasn’t thought much of you.
After the Chroma Conclave destroyed Emon, He and his friend departed to Vasselheim in search of allies.
Guess who’s there? You!
You are actually are a mercenary. You help whoever pays you, be it the Slayer’s Take or other people.
After being rejected by the clergy, the group was making there way over to the Slayer’s Take and that’s when he spotted you.
You were walking out of there as they walked up. You a large sack of gold that you finished your bounty for and was about to head out.
Before you went too far, Kashaw opened the door and called you back in, telling that the Patron needs to talk to you.
He watched as you sighed and headed back inside.
He raised and eyebrow, You’re so important that the Patron needs to speak with you directly. Interesting.
You were a mystery to him and he loved every second of it. He thought he was the most mysterious person he knew. Not by a long shot.
When they walked in, the quarrel happened until the Patron lets them down to speak with them.
You waited down there on Osysa’s throne was she dealt with each member.
When Vax was encountered, a number of things were said but, one of the most important ones was, ‘You sought love and it wasn’t found but love is a mysterious thing. Soulmates will always be drawn back to each other, no matter the distance or time it takes. Remember what has happened and reflect on this. Love will never always be right in front of you always. Follow your spirit and you will know.’
Vax knew she was talking about you. His spirit was saying it over and over was she spoke to him.
After the dust cleared and they proved themselves worth, you were introduced by Osysa herself.
Osysa knew your heart that you hid away from everyone, she knew that you would help them and not screw them over. Plus, you are preferred to handle in the affairs of God’s, given that you are a Warlock.
Vax couldn’t take his eyes off you. He repeated your name over and over in his head. His spirit seemed to scream out to be next to you.
As Osysa sent you all away, she gave you a knowing look. You two were best friends. You were always there for Osysa ever since you have been confirmed to be of a righteous heart.
The glacé she gave you made you grin and tease back, ‘I’ll tell your hubby you said hi!’
Vax immediately as you all were walking out went up next to you, ‘Hello, I’m Vax’ildan. It’s nice to actually know your name now.’
You just smirked at him, ‘Maybe ask a name before yanking there coin purse next time.’
With that, you passed him as he stood in shock for a second. He watched as your hips swayed slightly back and forth.
It took Scanlan to break him from his thoughts, ‘Someone’s gots the hots’ He semi whispered to Grog in a singsong voice. Grog laughed and covered his mouth.
Vax just rolled his eyes and continued walking.
You hit it off with Pike, Grog, and Scanlan immediately. Everyone slowly pulled there way into your conversations.
As your journey continued, Vax admired you more and more. You’re beautiful, smart, cunning, stealthy, and just a wonderful person in general. He loved it.
After you an everyone made it successfully into the tomb, Percy found the armor.
Instead of hitting Vex’ahlia, it hit you. Killing you in an instant. Vax lost it.
He ran to your corpse and held it tightly as he cried. He just got you. He will not lose you this quickly.
As everyone was trying to resurrect you, Vax had his vision and told the Raven Queen to take him instead of you.
She excepted and you came back. He was so relieved. Yet, his emotions couldn’t express it. He just went and put on the armor.
You realized something was off immediately about Vax. You didn’t know him long but, Osysa told you he was the one. You knew it too but, it’s nice to hear it from your best friend.
After being sabotaged and Vax clutching up, you sat by the fire and watched Vax. He stood and stared into space.
You walked over to him and rested your hand on his new armor.
You knew what he did because of your affairs with the Gods and Goddesses themselves.
You looked at him, ‘Can you go on a walk with me?’
He agreed and you both started walking.
‘I know what you did. You aren’s the only one that see visions and Gods.’
Vax stopped in his tracks and looked at you, ‘I did it to save you. Nothing more.’
‘You lost part of your soul when you did that. That’s why you’re cold and distant now. Don’t worry. I used to be the same. I made a pact too. My feelings came back after I met you.’
Vax felt a rush of emotions come over him. He knew that he had someone to rely on now. He knew that you shared the pain he feels right now.
He hugged you tightly like you were going to disappear again. He let the tears flow as he held you. You held him back as he sobbed. You whispered to him that everything will be okay and that you will be there until the end.
At that point he knew for a fact, you were his soulmate. Be in life or amongst the Gods.

Can you do head canons for vox machina after you have to get revived
Tumblr media
Depending on how you died, it would’ve hurt the group all the same. Having someone out of their rag tag group meeting an unfortunate end and they’re unable to prevent it from occurring? It’s not a nice a feeling in the slightest.
So it was only natural for Vax, Vex, Percy, Keyleth, Scanlan, Pike and Grog to feel as though they were all partially to blame for your death. It’s a feeling that they would carry with them even after you’ve been revived.
Death wasn’t something one can easily walk away from after being revived and you weren’t any different. If anything the experience of dying then being brought back changed you in ways unknown to yourself until someone were to be upfront about it to you.
Keyleth and Pike would constantly be checking on you after even something as small as a minor inconvenience. Healing you almost straight away even if it was something as small as a paper cut. One of them would always be seen by your side during battles with the additions of Percy and vex acting as long range shooters for opponents Pike and Keyleth couldn’t quite reach with their depleting energy.
Vax would be watching over you like a goddamn hawk, making sure no one tried to pull a fast one over you, always having your back during fights. Vex would also go out of her way to have your back during a fight but in a more discreet manor then the reckless manor her twin would take. Going so far as to scold you whenever you did something reckless in battle or went a little too far out for her liking; But her tone of words and the look in her eyes didn’t match up.
Percy would make upgrades to your weapons or completely make you a new one from scratch when he wasn’t satisfied with the lack of efficiency from your weapon. He’d go through all the processes with you on what does what but it doesn’t really matter as much like Vax he would look out for you in battle, gunning down assailants from a distance and then deny it when confronted about it like…your the only one in the group with a fucking gun dude, I heard gunshots. So naturally I’m going to assume.
Scanlan would take a more light hearted approach in comparison to his friends. Whilst they’re all trying to provide you with protection from any and all harm, the bard would go instead provide you with some company. He’d joke and jest but you noted how his smile reached his eyes nor did his laughter sound completely genuine, Alamo as though he were distracted.
He also makes a mean sandwich so I wouldn’t be surprised if he made an extra special one for you and when you’d ask for the occasion for this random act of service, he’d merely shrug it off as him doing something for a friend.
Grog would probably be protective over you in battle, always picking off the hardest ones so that you would’ve ever have to deal with it yourself. He’s your wall of protection and is more then willing to take all the physical punishment then allow you to even pertain a harmless bruise.
Over all, they would be protective over you in their own way and would gladly form a protective shield out of their own bodies strewn out in front of you if needs be. A good majority of them (Percy, Vax, Vex, etc) have lost good people that were once close to them. They’ve lost you once and there’s no way in hell would they allow that to ever happen again. Get mad at them all you like, try to push them away but they don’t care, their hearts can only take so much breakage despite what their hardened visages would like to say.

a winter's ball with vax'ildan, maybe? only if you have time
When I read this one, I immediately got inspired. Hope it turned out well! 😘
Wining and dining was never really his style. Vax’ildan prefers the shadows over the shimmer and shine of these ostentatious events. It’s a thing he could do without but with Vox Machina’s rise in reputation so came obligations. It’s not every day the Sovereign invites you and your friends to attend some posh party and while he might want to forget, his sister and her boyfriend-he means friend- have not neglected to remind him this is not something he can get out of. At least there’ll be an open bar and as long as he sticks with the likes of Scanlan and Grog, he’s in for an eventful night to be sure. Even if everyone has been threatened urged to be on their best behaviour, he is used at being a shadow in the crowds. He’ll be fine. It’ll be hell but he’ll be fine. So here he stands dressed in his best, listening to the chatter and whining of the nobility of Tal’dorei. Plenty of gossip and slander and he has to admit his fingers do twitch when he sees some of the blatantly disregarded riches people put on display. It’s like they want to be robbed. Wait… That man was wearing three rings just a second ago. There’s two now. He searches the crowd. Nothing out of the ordinary. At least to the untrained eye. He recognises a pattern of movement, someone making their way across the room, to be as far away from the scene of the crime as possible, not like the rich prick will notice the ring missing in the first place but better safe than sorry he supposes. Whoever you are, you’re good. Just not good enough. And since Grog’s been cut off from the open bar and Scanlan has already has found some privacy, it’s not like he’s got anything better to do.
On your trail, he realises he was incorrect when he assumed you were getting away from the crime scene. Instead you are making a clean sweep, mingling with groups, inserting yourself into conversation. He’d have lost you completely had he not seen you change you appearance behind a pillar. He almost did lose you several times but there’s something distinct in your behaviour, a tell that he knows all too well, and one he’s guilt of himself. Though, when he gets close enough, your voice, it sounds familiar. He can’t quite place it. He gets closer but doesn’t quite join the same conversation you’d slid into. He listens to you, watches your every movement. You’d taken on the appearance of a tiefling, horns and orange eyes and all. Attire displayed more Marquisian. You lay it on thick, flattery, compliments, charms and don’t neglect the occasional flirt to really sell it.
“My my, that ring of yours, it is a gorgeous piece!” You gasp as one of the ladies not so subtilely brushes the rubies around her neck. Obviously she was looking for a way to insert the ostentatious diamonds into this conversation and was failing. That faint glint in your eye right before you spoke, the one that’s akin to focussing on a target, that’s your tell. Everyone has one after all.
“It ought to be. It was a gift from J’mon Sa Ord themself!” The lady already stretches her arm out towards you, to give you a look up close. Vax watches as you daintily reach out to take the woman’s hand and let the ring hit the light perfectly.
“Such a high honour, my lady. A gift befitting a queen one could say. You simply must share the story behind it.” As she retracts her hand what the woman does not notice; you unclasped one of the bracelets on her arm, let it drop into your palm, the one that clasped under her hand, and sweep it away as she goes into the extensive story, having all those around oohing and aaahing. In the mean time you grow quieter and quieter until the focus is entirely away from you. You bend out, and make for the nearest alcove. Vax watches you brush along your clothes and then let your hands fall to your sides, bracelet nowhere to be seen. That’s when he decides to make his move.
A job well done. You got plenty of loot from your little scavenger hunt, no one any the wiser. Tonight was a fruitful night. Who knew the desperate for attention and admiration were still granted plus one to such an event with a tight invite list. Just your luck you make a good actor and have no obligations to sweet-talking yourself into this spot. Such a shame though, the event is so large with so many attendants, it’s easy to get lost and lose sight of your escort. It’s unlikely you’ll meet again, or rather, your escort will meet you again. You’d not be so stupid to wear your own face on such an adventure. Nothing a little magic couldn’t fix. Not all deals made are bad ones and you surely reaped the benefits of this one. Time to leave. Stay close to the dance floor, make it to the balcony and off you go. It’s like stealing candy from a very rich baby. Another change of face; a half elf this time, with a tiered ruffle skirt. It seemed suitable, and just slightly big enough to keep at bay some of the suitors waiting for a dance partner of their choosing. You turn down the others, claiming exhaustion, already being spoken for, and so on.
“Would you like to dance?” Your breath catches. You know that voice, and seeing the half-elf to your side, you are not mistaken. Shock must have spread across your face but you recover quickly. He looks as handsome as you last saw him, though the outfit is not very him. Vax. Your heart aches
“I’m afraid my dance card is full, good sir.” You reply and sound a little more breezy than you intended. You have to get out. This is no place for a confrontation. Vax only takes one look at you and knows every single instinct on the verge of kicking in, so instead he simply takes your arm and pulls you into the ongoing dance. It’s a good thing you’re both quick on your feet or you might have sprawled across the floor unable to avoid the other couples in their routines. You want to say something, protest or just get out but He’s guided you along to a place where doing that inconspicuous would be very difficult, even for you. Bastard. You put on a smile and play the part of a whimsical lady who belongs here.
“What brings you here, Miss?” You want to snort at his all too innocent question and playing into your act. He’s learned quite well. Then again, he always had charm, though, his sister will always be the more persuasive one.
“Oh, I’m here with the Lord Waters. My uncle was kind enough to send me along to familiarise myself with the court here! And you, good sir? What brings you to this marvellous event?” You want to gag. You feel his hand burning against the small of your back, know he can feel through the illusion, feel the dagger you’ve got holstered there. His fingers of the other hand have clasped with yours, the fingerless gloves must have been a nice surprise as opposed to the dainty satin it appears to be.
“Me and my companions were invited.” Damn it. You should have taken a better peak at that guest list when you had the chance. Of course Vox Machina would be in attendance. You’d have made better efforts to avoid them. Not that you’re not enjoying this encounter. In an odd way it feels good to be here, back in Vax’ arms. You’ve got plenty of memories like these. Though few include being in a palace like this. It feels good even if you’ve been made and should probably make an effort to get out now.
You must be very important then. Excuse me for not knowing-“ You keep playing the game and Vax almost starts doubting himself. Maybe he was mistaken. Maybe he missed you in the crowd and is confusing you for this innocent half-elf but then you cast your eyes to the closest balcony. It’ll only be a matter of time before you’ll pass it and he wonders if you plan on making your escape then, slide away without another word.
“Vox Machina. Heroes of Tal’dorei some say, though it’s a bit pretentious if you ask me.” He speaks earnestly. And then your window of opportunity approaches.
“I’m afraid my feet have grown quite tired. It was lovely dancing with you, Hero of Tal’dorei.” You make to push away from him and he lets you go. What you don’t notice is that he’s just as good as you and in your distraction of getting away, you miss him removing that dagger from your belt. Your head’s turned when he swiftly slides it up his sleeve and follows after you, through the crowd.
You break for the balcony, moving through the crowd gently until you reach the doors and slide through unnoticed. There’s no one else. It’s freezing cold after all. Big change from the warm interior and leaves you shivering just a little as your body adjusts. You look around the ledge; bushes below lead into the gardens. A drainpipe goes down to one side but looks rather shaky. Though his balcony is supported by pillars and happen to have decent foothold, even if a layer of frost covers the ground below. You’ll have to be careful still but you could not call yourself a master thief if you were thwarted by some ice. You pick a nice spot and sit on the railing, reach for your- it’s gone. You frantically look around, as if it might have dropped on the stone here somewhere. Then the door opens and through slides that damned half-elf, holding your dagger between his fingers.
“Looking for this?” Cocky as you know him to be when successfully stealing something. “You can drop the act now.” You roll your eyes as you jump back to your feet and meet him in the middle of the balcony. He lets you take the dagger without a fuss and you quickly put it back in its sheath dropping your disguise. He wasn’t prepared. Vax didn’t think you’d actually drop your disguise, that he’d be facing you now. With your urgency to get out he had assumed you might have been running from your past, from him but you’re not. You’re standing here and don’t make a dive for your escape. You cross your arms.
“You’re a bastard, and you know it.” You snicker. Despite the freezing cold the sound warms him from the inside. It’s been far too long since he’s heard that sound, heard you. You take another step closer. Your breath shows upon the cold air as you look him in the eyes. You tilt your head slightly, lips parting and begin to lean in. You bring a hand to his chest, let the other brush along his cheek, along his pointed ear until you guide his face to yours, as if you’re going to kiss him. But then he feels a pull and his hair falls free out of the tie he’d been persuaded to keep it in. You step back laughing and lift yourself onto the balcony ledge. He crosses the distance as you play with the tie.
“Is it really that easy?” He laughs at your antics. It’s like you never parted, like not a moment has passed since your last goodbye even though it has been years. He was a scavenging thief with an annoying sister back then. He’s an adventurer now, still with an annoying sister though. You were a runner for a local guild. What have you become? You bear no seal, now sigil and you seem wholly unburdened. You wink at him.
“It can be.” You swing your legs over, and stand on the small ridge. You quickly peck his lips and leave the half-elf in shock, short of a response. “Pick a place. Tomorrow. Lunch. My treat.” You play with a gold necklace between your fingers but before you’re about to jump off the shock has vanished and Vax feels in control of himself once more. He cups your cheeks.
“I’ve missed you.” He breathes as his brain is trying to wrap his head around all of this. You’re here. You actually want to see him and as it looks like now you’ve no objections to picking up where things left off. What in the world is happening?
“Missed you too.” Genuine words. Gently he presses his lips to yours, awaiting any response of objection but you move them against his, wrap your arms around his neck and deepens the kiss. The cold breeze cuts at his skin, his fancy clothes doing little to keep it at bay as opposed to your attire, clearly suitable for the weather and your objective for the evening, though he cares little when he holds onto you, when he feels your fingers brush against his skin and spark a fire to keep him warm, however short-lived this kiss may be. He pulls away, reminded you are on a job and he’d be a terrible partner in crime if he did not look out for you. Your hum in disappointment almost makes him forget about that.
“There’ll be a guard patrol coming in two minutes. You’ll want to be past the fountains by then. The roses to the right will give enough cover.” Vax gives you the run down and you nod. With a final peck you push off the ledge and he runs to the edge to see you grab onto the pillar, and slide down. When he does he feels something in his breast pocket. It’s the gold bracelet. You blow him a kiss when you hit the ground before you turn on your heels and make a sprint for the roses quite a ways a way. You’re lucky you’re fast. With a longing sigh he watches you go. Lunch it is.

Once An Enemy
Vax x gn!reader
requested by anonymous: Hi! I wanted to request a Vax x reader, but it's enemies to lovers, you can decide the story. If you don't want to write it it's ok. Have a nice day!
Tumblr media
a/n: hello, this is actually a request from a while ago. It ended up like 8 pages single spaced, reaching almost 4,500 words, so I hope you enjoy. I’ll be honest I’m all for slow burn enemies/rivals to friend so hopefully I did the request justice. It is gn and I do a quick look over for any grammar errors. I hope you enjoy and as always, please do not copy my work!
He had stolen the ornate necklace your grandmother had gifted you before her passing. You had never been one for jewelry before, but she loved the intricate piece and it was worth a small fortune. It was the most expensive thing you owned and the bloody half-elf had taken it from you. You had caught him, but he had the edge on you nonetheless.
It was just your luck when you had to work together with him and his team or whatever so that you all wouldn’t be killed because of some misunderstanding between the small town and the mercenaries.
It was not your intention to save the small gnome that needed to learn when to shut up. Bludgeoning one of the townsfolk that was attempting to end your lives actually got you in the good graces of the group, Vox Machina. They even offered to let you stay.
It took some time to get used to their standard of living. You and Percy were the only two that grew up with money, resources, and goods all at your fingertips. Surviving on tavern food, ale, and whatever else you could get your hands on was difficult, to say the least.
This in part was one of the many reasons that Vax did not like you. He felt you were entitled, spoiled, posh, and rude. He believed entirely that you thought you were better than all of them, except for possibly Percy.
You on the other hand hated Vax because he was a liar, thief, and manipulator. He claimed you were the rude one while he had no respect or dignity for others and their possessions. He was nothing more than a charismatic and handsome thief that used his better qualities to obtain whatever it is he wanted whether or not it was legal.
Joining Vox Machina was your hail mary because you had nothing left of your old life. Disowned by your family meant you were thrown onto the streets to fend for yourself. At least the mercenaries helped each other and got along unlike your family.
Despite your protests, Vax continued with his stealing. Regardless of what he said, you didn’t stop placing yourself on a pedestal. Then again, you had no issue putting yourself on a pedestal for never resorting to thievery.
The rest of the group was getting tired of your constant bickering. They had thought you two would work things out eventually, but you never did. A few months was too much for them to handle. Even while intoxicated you and Vax were at each other's throats.
Plans were passed between the others, in hopes you two would make amends. Each plan backfired worse than they could have imagined. Knives were thrown, clothes were torn, hair was pulled, and harsh jabs at the other remained consistent. In one last feeble attempt for some peace between you two, the group decided that it was time to turn to alcohol. The plan was to get you both so drunk that neither of you would have a care in the world.
You and Vax had no intentions of becoming that drunk. If there was anything you shared in common, it was the fact that neither of you wanted to be that shit-faced. Both of you wanted to keep the little bit of dignity you each had left.
So, instead, you pretended to drink all of the contents in your cups. Vax gave some of his alcohol to Grog, while you passed yours off to Scanlan. The entire group was drunk, but you knew that at the end of the day, it would only be you and Vax that would remember the entire night.
Eventually, you were ready to call it a night. You were prepared to pay for the group knowing that they would do the same for you. Reaching to collect your gold, you realized that your satchel was missing.
Another Vox Machina plan was about to explode in their drunken faces.
“Where the hell is my money?” you speak aloud even though the question was just you verbalizing your thought process. You remember having it on you when you sat down, but you had no idea where it had gone.
“Maybe you left it in your room,” Vax said, leaning on the table, while he messed with the rim of the cup of ale, “it would make sense since you have never had to prepare for anything in your life.”
Your face hardened into one of annoyance. “You took it, didn’t you?” you accused him immediately, “you stole my shit again.”
“I’ve never stolen any of your shit, your majesty,” Vax’s monotonous sarcasm left you livid.
“We met because you stole my shit, jackass,” you replied, crossing your arms.
“I took your necklace, I didn’t steal it. Stealing it would imply that you never got it back,” Vax huffed out in response.
“You still stole it, and the only reason I got it back was because I caught you with it.”
“Well, I didn’t steal your stupid fucking satchel, so stop being a priss about this and recognize the fact that you fucking misplaced it.” Vax stood up suddenly and exited the tavern to make his way up to one of the many rooms you had all bought out for the week. You simply rolled your eyes at the half-elf, not caring about his disappearance from the table. The only others missing from their seats were Scanlan and Grog. You searched around the bar for them. It wasn’t too hard because Grog’s voice boomed compared to others in the room. You found the two sitting together in the corner of the tavern.
“Y/n,” Scanlan said drunkenly, “you-you need to tell Grog that I’m right.” The gnome swayed back and forth.
“No, Y/n, tell Scanlan, that I’m right,” Grog pouted at you.
“What are you guys trying to determine?”
“Grog over here,” Scanlan points to the goliath, “thinks that you and Vax hate each other’s guts for realsies. I think that you have sexual tension leading you two to always be at each other’s throats.”
“No, Scanlan, Grog is right, I honestly just dislike Vax and vice versa. Trust me, there is absolutely no sexual tension between us.”
“Please, you could cut it with a knife,” Scanlan jokes as his head bobbles from side to side.
“I could cut you with a knife,” you stated without care.
“Okay, okay,” the gnome held up his hands in surrender.
“Ha, pay up my small friend,” Grog boasted.
“Fine,” Scanlan said defeatedly, “here is your well-deserved bag of shiny things.” Scanlan threw your pouch of money and other small valuables onto the table.
“Shit, Scanlan, that’s mine,” You said suddenly, realizing your mistake.
“That’s yours? No, that can’t be right. It was right beside me. I just had to untie it from-,” Scanlan stopped speaking for a few moments. “Oops, it was yours. Sorry, Y/n, please do not attack me. I swear it was a mistake.”
“Just give me my damn money,” I snatched the satchel and tossed out some gold, “pay for the damn drinks you’ve had and go to bed.” The two looked saddened after you scolded them. You on the other hand were unhappy with what you needed to do next.
You walked upstairs to the rooms you were all staying in and knocked on the one Vax was sharing with Percy.
“It’s unlocked,” Vax replied. You opened the door and made your way into the room. Vax was lying down on one of the two beds tossing a coin in the air. He looked over to see who had entered, “Oh, it’s you,” Vax stated with distaste.
“I’m here to apologize,” you told him.
“Well, I’m glad that you’ve come to terms with the fact that you misplaced it,” he responded, nodding to the pouch in your hand.
“Actually,” you said, moving further into the room, sitting on the bed beside Vax’s, “Scanlan took it, so I was only half wrong, which is why I’m apologizing. I’m sorry for accusing you of taking my satchel.”
“Scanlan took it?” Vax raised a brow at you.
“Yeah,” you chuckled, “guess he was drunk enough to not even realize it was mine in the first place.”
“Wow, he really had too much didn’t he?”
“Eh, it’s not entirely his fault,” you shrugged, “I gave him like half of my drinks and he didn't even notice.”
Vax laughed, “I did the same with Grog. I didn’t want to end up passed out drunk so I may have switched our cups a few times.” Now you both laughed at your actions.
“Hopefully they’ll be okay,” you spoke up, “They both seemed pretty out of it when I caught Scanlan. The little guy didn’t even have his head on straight, honestly.”
“I’m sure they’ll be fine. I would have liked to see Scanlan that drunk.”
“Yeah, well, it wasn’t as great as you would think. You didn’t miss out on anything.”
“Well that’s good I guess.”
“I’ll leave you to it. It would probably be best that we get some rest before the others become sober again but with massive hangovers,” you stood up from your seat.
“Yeah, Scanlan and Vex always complain about their damn headaches. Sleep well, L/n.”
“Sleep well,” you replied, leaving the room and closing the door behind you.
The two of you helped the others in the morning. Scanlan and Grog had no memories from the night before while the others had bits and pieces. It was odd for all of them to see you and Vax working together to take care of them without fighting.
From then on, you and Vax were civil with each other. You were almost like coworkers in a sense. You weren’t close but the majority of the time you didn’t actively hate the other.
In fact, you practically stopped fighting each other entirely. Instead, you moved on to aiding one another in battle, fighting side by side, and even protecting each other. You shared drinks over your victories too, leaving the group thankful and very confused. They had no idea what happened between the two of you but also didn’t think that it had anything to do with their last plan.
With time you and Vax even grew closer, becoming friendly. A certain mission Vox Machina took should have weakened the beginning of your friendship but in the end, only made it stronger.
Trapped in the cavern you and Vax were forced to wait out a rescue from your friends and colleagues. You two were stuck because part of the cave collapsed leaving you both stuck in the dark, alone, together.
Claustrophobia got the better of the both of you and you both slowly started to lose your cool. It began with blaming one another for the situation. You both still had enough sense in you to walk away from that conversation. Then you both brought up that none of the others would have made these stupid mistakes. Eventually, you both stopped because exhaustion was getting to you. Finally, it came down to blaming each other because you both disliked each other and couldn’t handle being around each other.
He screamed and you screamed and things were said.
“You're a fucking coward that steals from unknowing and innocent people.”
“Oh my lord, you’re still upset about your damn necklace. You're so pretentious.”
“Me! I’m pretentious? Have you not met Percy or looked in a fucking mirror?”
“Oh wow when’d you come up with that one? And you know what, at least Percy knows he’s got a stick up his ass. You act like your fucking perfect all the fucking time. Well, you're not! You aren’t fucking perfect.”
“Well, at least I’m not a low-life thief. At least I’m not you. Your whole entire get-up is built on lies and deceptions. You commit crimes like it’s fucking breathing. And I am so sorry I don’t like the fact that you steal from people, but how could I? Everything I’ve ever had has been stolen from me! Even this necklace,” you took it from your neck, “you had this, you took it, you stole it. I had to fight tooth and nail to get it back. But you wanted it so bad that you stole it from me. You took all I had left. So you know what, if you want it so bad you can fucking have it. They took all I had, so why don’t you take all I have left.” You threw it at his feet.
You breathed heavy, exhausted from all the screaming you’d done. Your back leaned against the wall behind you and you slid down to the floor. Vax looked taken aback while you were trying to control your breathing. The half-elf picked your necklace off the ground. He approached you slowly and carefully placed a hand on your shoulder.
“I’m sorry. I realize I’ve never apologized for taking your necklace. I don’t necessarily understand its importance to you, but it clearly is and I should never have done what I did.”
“I-,” you huffed out, trying to figure out what you wanted to say, “It’s not your fault entirely. I’m just projecting the larger picture onto you. I’m sorry for that and um, also you're forgiven.”
“Well, I’m glad. Maybe now we can finally get off on the right foot. Once we get out of here that is.”
“Yeah, It’s going to take the others a bit longer to get to us,” you admitted.
“So, want to share the troubles you were somewhat projecting onto me?” he asked, before quickly swiveling his head your way, “only if you want to of course.”
“Eh, this would be easier with alcohol.”
“Sadly, I’m lacking when it comes to those types of beverages, I only have water,” he tried to joke.
“That’s fine,” you said, reaching into your chest pocket and pulling out a metal flask, “I was just trying to lighten the mood anyway.”
You took a gulp of the liquor you had stored before handing it over to Vax. “You are full of surprises,” he chuckled before taking a swig. Vax handed the liquid courage back to you. You took one last sip before opening up.
“My shitty cousin cut me out of the inheritance,” you looked Vax dead in the eye, “and, I know, I know that makes me sound like a spoiled little brat, but that was like my whole life and I had only just turned seventeen. I was supposed to take over the family business and continue with the position my family had raised me to take care of and she just came in and snatched it from my hands on a technicality, a fucking technicality. The nerve on that woman? And I mean she was only 19 at the time but she was like an older sister to me. Especially when her family took me in after my parents died. I don’t know, she just uprooted my whole life, betrayed me, disowned me, kicked me out of my own home, and she didn’t even give me a cent because I threatened her.”
“Wow, seems like a dick move,” the alcohol had kicked in enough for you to know he was being genuine.
“Right? She stole everything from me.”
“Everything but your necklace,” Vax held it out for both of you to see.
“Yes,” you hit his arm playfully, “everything but my grandmother’s necklace.”
“It’s a very pretty necklace,” he told you as he examined it.
“My grandmother loved fine pieces of jewelry. She never cared about the price or the materials used as long as the piece was one of quality work,” you said with a slight frown on your face, “I never could sell it, too much sentimental value.”
“Well, it's a good thing it means so much to you. Otherwise, you would never have joined Vox Machina and in all honesty, we need someone like you.”
“What, pretentious, spoiled, and witty?” you asked jokingly.
“No, mature, honest, morally respectable, and witty.”
“I find it sweet that you find me morally respectable,” you said.
“Well, I find you sweet in general,” he said back, looking you in the eye, a small smile gracing his face. “Here,” he scooted back, bringing the necklace to your neck, “you should put this back on, wouldn’t want anyone taking it again.” Vax clasped the piece of jewelry around your neck.
“Thanks.”
“No problem,” he replied, returning to his original spot beside you. You sat like that for another three hours before the others found you.
They were all thankful that when they got there that one of you wasn’t standing over a dead body. They expected you to be at each other’s throats and even attempting to end the other. You two sitting peacefully, shoulder to shoulder was quite honestly shocking for them.
You and Vax were very different after that. Scanlan assumed that the boredom, frustration, and, apparently, sexual tension led you to bone. Pike believed that the two of you made up during the stressful and life-threatening situation because petty rivalries as grudges were stupid and noticeable in the face of mortality. Vex, Percy, and Keyleth felt you both were secretly harboring feelings for each other and didn’t actually hate each other. Lastly, Grog felt the two of you got the air cleared and let the anger out of your systems finally allowing for the two of you to become friends.
It surprised you both that Grog was the closest to actually figuring out what happened the day the cavern caved in. You even swore him to secrecy with a pinky promise whilst the group was drunk. The goliath sealed his lips performing the customary thin-lipped smile, the shut of a zipper, and the toss of a key.
You and Vax remained good friends that finally understood one another. In fact, the difficulties you both faced involving your families brought you closer together. The rest of Vox Machina remained shocked at your’s and Vax’s odd behavior. The small giggles between the two of you. The bumping of shoulders either as a joke or to signal something. The whispered secrets that no one else knew.
It wasn’t hard for the two of you to become anything more than friends.
Your entire group was split up in the woods while fighting werewolves. You and Vax had managed to stick at each other’s side. The two of you are always in some sort of physical contact so as not to lose the other. His hand grasped yours as you ran away in the dark of the night.
“Fuck,” Vax muttered under his breath as you two swiftly made your way through the forest. Trees blurred as you ran in the pale moonlight carelessly. The snatched the cloth of your cloak pulling you back and out of his grasp.
“Shit, shit, Vax,” you cried out, scared, terrified. The growls approached you from behind. You tugged at the loose fabric hoping it would tear. The two wolves crept up behind you as you pulled. You looked over your shoulder and back at what you were doing, twisting the fabric in your hands.
Twin snarls came from behind you, and the beady eyes of the werewolves stared directly at you. You no longer had time to pull at your cloak. You grabbed the part scrunched at your neck and pulled it over your head as quickly as you could to make it out so you could run again. The one on the right lunged for you, but a dagger quickly found itself lodged into the beast’s skull. The second one ran toward you as soon as you escaped your cloak. You wrapped the fabric that had kept you stuck around the beast, grappling it to the ground. It roared out, clamping its jaw in the air as you swiftly swung your own dagger into the base of the monster’s head.
You were pulled off the body that was now turning back into a human. Arms wrapped around you, tugging you into their arms.
“It’s okay, I’ve got you it’s okay,” Vax whispered softly into your hair.
You turned around engulfing the half-elf in a desperate hug. He returned the gesture of affection just as distressed as you. “Vax,” you sobbed quietly into his shoulder.
“I’m right here, love,” he stroked your hair with care. You nuzzled your face into his neck as you both sat under the light of a full moon.
You pulled away just enough to look him in the face, your hand splayed on his chest to keep your balance. His eyes looked at you with concern, but all you could do was place your other hand on his cheek unaware of how the light made it look like your tears were liquid silver. “Are you alright?” he asked, letting out a ragged breath, no longer sounding like his emotions were under control.
“I’m okay, I’m okay,” you assured him, “you saved me.”
“Well, darling,” his charm came back, masking only some of his worry, “I don’t deserve all the credit, you also saved yourself.”
“Ha, I suppose that is also true. I-“ you looked back up at him, “thank you.”
“Trust me, it’s nothing to thank me for,” he copied you, placing one hand on your cheek.
“No, thank you for this,” you gestured to the position you were in.
“Of course, I’ll always be here for you,” he said, his face dipping closer to yours.
“I know,” you placed your forehead against his, “I’ll always be there for you too.”
“I know,” Vax replied with his eyes closed, your breath dancing along his face.
It was slow, simple, and comforting when your lips met. The brush of your lips wasn’t fireworks at the moment, but a warm fire that reminded you both of a home you were deprived of. Vax could taste what remained of your tears on his tongue, which had gracefully entered your mouth for a few seconds before the two of you slowly drifted apart.
It was still nighttime and the woods were not safe. The two of you stood up together and went to find shelter. Finding a small eroded rock, Vax sat down and leaned against it while you laid on his chest covered by his cloak that he was sharing to stop the cold from reaching you.
Vox Machina was reunited by noon the next day. No one in the group knew what had happened with you that night. But everyone could tell something had changed between the two of you again.
And things did change between you and Vax. You snuck around, held hands in secret, and avoided the gazes of your friends. You went on small little dates without anyone else knowing. You shared bread, roamed the roads of towns, and walked hand in hand in the forests.
Escaping from prying eyes allowed the two of you to get quick, short moments together of brief contact and chaste kisses.
With time you both leaned into your relationship more, realizing that you wanted something real and known. You cupped his face when he was down. He wiped away your tears if you broke from the stress you were facing. You covered for each other. Protected one another from others showing both your caring and violent sides.
It began with small quick pecks on the cheek, palms, knuckles, nose, forehead, or the top of the head. Each of you did something to comfort the other. It was sweet and calming for both of you to both receive and provide such affection.
With more time it evolved to constant hand holding and actual kissing before leaving one another, or after a long day. The rest of Vox Machina would have been more surprised, but your relationship with Vax was just naturally evolving with both of you. Whatever happened next just seemed to make logical sense in your relationship.
Vax was moving on from his past and traumas and you were doing the same. You found comfort in what started as uncomfortable and even unwanted. Vax had learned restraint with some of his actions while you learned to be more impulsive and to not always wait and think things over.
You were good for each other, which was obvious to all of Vox Machina. While they never quite knew how your relationship was changing, they were always out of the loop of something. The most recent being the small and beautiful ‘I love you’s shared between you both. The growing smiles forming on your faces with each word of reassurance and promise.
Though none of Vox Machina knew of your most recent advancement of your two’s relationship, they knew how you both felt toward one another.
It was especially clear in both your actions. Your most recent bounty led you to a decent-sized town. The people were odd and quite a few were rude, but just as many were nice. What people did not enjoy was your group of mercenaries looking into their businesses and homes.
In fact, one merchant had pissed you off enough that you decided to let off some steam. Glancing down at it then you knew you held no regret for your actions. Covering the small object in cloth, you weaved your way through the crowds of people. Finding Vax and the others was easy enough.
You held out the cloth, unraveling it and revealing its contents. In your hand rested a small silver knife with intricate pattern work on the handle, reminding you of a forest. Vax looked from you to the object in your hand.
“I-It’s a lovely knife, my dear, but I’m afraid I’m not quite following,” Vax’s voice was sweet when he talked to you, but his confusion was also clear.
“I stole it,” you said simply with a small smile-ish smirk and a shrug of your shoulders.
“What?” The half-elf questioned your actions, not with anger but with concern and the same confusion.
“It looked cool, but it was terribly overpriced and the merchant was extremely rude, I mean extremely rude, so I stole it,” your answer was short and precise, but the sheer joy that radiated off of you was enthralling. You were proud of your accomplishment.
“Okay, and…” Vax continued, trying to lead the conversation in a way that you would provide more explanation.
“And it is a gift, so accept my gift,” you told Vax. His face softened as he looked down at the blade you were wanting to give him. The two of you truly had come so far since the start.
“Got it,” he said, grabbing the small knife from your hand, “thank you.”
“Of course, darling,” you said back then kissed his cheek and returned to the group. Vax was entirely whipped for you. You loved each other. Everyone knew it. It was love after a couple of dozen fights.

Temporary Partners
Vax’ildan x Fem!Reader
MDNI (it’s not smut but it strongly hints)
Tumblr media
It started out as any other job, the main difference was this was probably the wealthiest individual you’ve had as a target, now it wasn’t anyone of high importance just another prick with much gold stroking his ego on the daily. You were more than willing to go to an event such as a ball or gala to intermingle yourself into the crowd and snatch the precious item you were sent to retrieve, to you that was childs play.
It wasn’t difficult for you to snake your way inside the home of this man with the crowd of high class people piling in with there multiple “plus-ones” you found it a little too easy if you’re being honest.
“Nothing a little ‘makeup’ can do” the so called makeup being a disguise spell, the dress was real be it with a few added glam elements, a gem accent here a sparkle there and they were hooked. Not standing out but also not out of place. Perfect.
As one does you scan the room for a few reasons; 1. To get a layout of the building, how it flows, escape routes and such, where precious items may be held. 2. The people, who was here, who to interact with and who to stir clear from.
As you were doing such your eyes fell upon a rather unique group and after a moment you pieces together that it was the infamous Vox Machina lads, mainly the loud and socially awkward Goliath and overly flirtatious Gnome being the main giveaways, but one character stood out from this ragtag team. A half elf man who looked like he wanted to be anywhere else but here, the dark locks of hair slicked back and his sharp features were enough to even make you gawk if even just for a moment, but unfortunately you do have a job to do and now wasn’t the time to get caught by anyone, let alone these guys.
While stirring clear from them as much as you could you intermingled with the guests, making stories about this and that and how you were invited among other small talk that you could frankly live without. You excuse yourself from one of the groups you were talking to, making your way to the stair case to search for this heirloom. As comes wealth comes locked doors and that was your first guess on where to look, picking locks was typically nothing that you’d sweat about but it was going to be a little difficult to do it smoothly with the amount of traffic these halls had. Maybe you’d have to stay a bit later when people had more alcohol in their system. You sighed annoyed by the fact you couldn’t just be in and out like you wanted to. Oh well, might as well eat while you’re here, who turns down free food?
You waltz back down the stairs and over to the buffet table, your hunger driving you on autopilot as you fill your plate. As you were loading a slice of meat onto your plate you bumped into someone “oh! Terribly sorry-“ you look over and see a while haired fellow with glasses. “Oh no no madam, that was my fault. I should’ve been more observant, please allow me.” This gentleman finished plating the meats and surrounded side dishes onto your plate with your instructions on portions. “Quite the gentleman, and you are?” You held out your hand for him to take, without missing a beat he took your hand in his and bowed slightly. “Percival. Or Percy,” he introduced himself. You gave him some alias you had in your back pocket as he went about his way. As you watched him leave you saw him regroup with that Vox Machina, well he seems to be the most sane one of the group so you figured it would be fine. (far from it but ok pop off)
As the party continued through the night the crowd wasn’t quite as full but it was extremely lively. This was your chance to sneak away, the host being occupied with ladies fawning over him for one reason or another. You slip back upstairs and start making your way into some of the locked away doors. It didn’t take long to find the room you were looking for. You lock the door behind you and began your search, this damn pocket watch better be worth the hassle. You found it in an extravagant jewelry box, in the middle on full display. It was as if he was asking to get robbed. You replace the spot with a much lesser ordinary pocket watch to fuck with him a bit. You were grinning to yourself, knowing your job was nearly done.
“Aren’t you a sneaky little thing.” An unknown voice chirped quietly, causing you to dart your gaze over. Hand prepped to grab your dagger strapped under your hip. It was that half elf man you saw earlier. What was his name? “I- I didn’t hear you.” You put on a smile as if you weren’t doing anything wrong. “You gave me quite the fright! I don’t believe we’ve met.” The man walked towards you with a saunter, flirtatious even. “The name is Vax, and who are you beautiful?” My Gods he was attractive, you didn’t mind this private meeting, well you kind of did considering he fucking saw you steal the pocket watch. You gave the same Alias as before and he chuckled “Okay, what’s your real name?” He asked, your eyebrow raised. He was good, considering you didn’t hear him enter the quiet room in the first place. He was extremely good. “Y/n. How did-“
“A thief knows a thief.” He winks. “Unfortunately for you, I also need that pocket watch.” He held out his hand, asking for you to give it to him. What did he take you for? “Excuse me??” You ask, brows furrowed. “Like I’m just gonna hand this over to you. Dream on, pretty boy.” Vax kissed his teeth with a smirk. “You think I’m pretty do you?” He leans closer, putting each hand on either side of you onto the dresser behind you. Trapping you between his arms. “The feelings mutual. So how are we gonna sort this out hm?” He asks.
You lick your lips and grin. “If you’re as good as you think you are how about this. I give this to the man who hired me, get paid. I help you steal it back you can give it to whoever hired you. We both get paid and nobody is the wiser. Deal?” You ask, his smirk only grew. “Keep talking to me like that and you might get in trouble.” He purred. His attraction towards you wasn’t even attempted to be hidden. “Well we should probably get out of-“ you were cut off by the sound of the door opening, shit. Before you could react you felt a pair of warm lips on yours, the faint taste of wine and fruit on your tongue. Hands onto your hips and one behind your neck.
The host gasped and angrily shouted “What do you think you’re doing in here!! Get out! This is my private courtiers!” Vax acted surprised and you followed in suit. “O-oh! Mr. Vanderse! My apologies!! The lady got a wee bit impatient and the door was open, we meant no disrespect. We’ll be on our way.” He took your hand and led you out while you acted bashful and dodged his gaze. The host merely hugged as you two left and shut the door.
You touched your lips softly as you two walked out, that was a hell of a cover and it made sense for the environment. “Smart thinking back there.” You complimented and Vax laughed slightly. “Oh please, who wouldn’t want to do that with such a pretty face.” He looked back at you and winked. “Although I hate to admit it, he’s probably gonna notice it being missing so you must make haste.” He smiled. “Come with me, wouldn’t it be easier so you know where to go?” He shook his head. “When he comes to the realization he’s going to come looking for us, he can search me and find nothing, just hurry back and when you return he can search you as well. Don’t worry I’ll occupy him.” You were taking a big risk trusting someone you just met. But you figured you could wiggle your way out of it if need be.
You do just that, sneak out and hurry back to your employer, delivering it and getting your payment and making your return. As you sneak your way in, you see Vax and Mr. Vanderse in a conversation, the hose seeming anxious and frustrated. You and Vax make eye contact and you make your way over to him confidently. “Sorry Love, I just needed some fresh air. Oh!” You fake a bashful avoidance to the host and shyly greet him. “A-ah Mr. Vanderse. Hello again, I must apologize for earlier, seeing me in such a state- it’s very embarrassing.” You ‘apologize’ for the scene he walked in on from earlier. He cleared his throat. “All is forgiven but I’ve seemed to have lost something and I must search you, it was ok that room you were in.” You agree and you were searched by one of the servants, obviously finding nothing on your person. Vax casually wrapping his arm around your waist. “Can’t wait til I can touch you like that later my love.” He ‘whispered’ loud enough for anyone in close earshot to hear, you actually blush and playfully hit him in the chest “Darling!” You couldn’t help but like this ‘partner in crime’ scenario. The night went about as normally as it could now, you being close to Vax for the rest of the evening until it was about time to leave, he had went to his group and basically said he was going to finish the job and they could have fun and he’d meet them later at the inn.
You and him exited the party and you immediately start taking off the dress, his eyebrow raising. “Isn’t it a little early for this? It’s such a public place too.” He teased as you rolled your eyes and showed that you had clothes underneath the gown. It was shorts and a simple top but it did the job. You dispose of the now plain dress into a bin, it wasn’t yours and you didn’t care. “Think I’m that easy huh?” You ask the tall half elven man. “Well you did let me makeout with you” he chuckled. “I dare say you liked it.” You laugh a bit and shake your head “Oh please, if that’s the best you could do then I’m afraid you wouldn’t be able to keep up love.” You were confident in your love making skills and honestly you rarely found someone to be a good lay. You typically finished yourself off afterwards. But this man grabbed your hips and pulled you close. “You haven’t even seen the beginning of what I can do. Don’t get too cocky now.” He winked at you yet again and boy did it get you going. What was it about this individual having such a hold on you already.
“Let’s hurry up and finish this and maybe you can prove it to me?” You pulled away and swayed your hips as you walked ahead of him, knowing his eyes were undressing you. You didn’t mind one bit, you wanted him to fantasize about it. He made quick work about going in and out, you distracting the employer, asking about possible other jobs, making conversation. As you said your good nights to one another you exited the building and saw Vax hold the restolen pocket watch. “Easy.” He stated as you began to walk with him to his employers place, the whole ordeal didn’t take long and it went smoothly, even with the hiccups of the evening. Once all was said and done he looked at you and grabbed your chin, lifting your gaze up to him. “So, were you serious about me proving it or were you just telling me what I wanted to hear?” You smirked up at the man and closed the distance between you, kissing him deeply. “You talk too much.” You whispered and led him to your place to have a rather fun night. It was hot it was heavy and you finally felt satisfied with someone you fucked. This definitely wouldn’t be a one time thing.

Being a child member of Vox Machina and… | Vox Machina x child reader
Summary | Young reader is rescued by Vox Machina. After deciding to follow them in their travels they are somewhat taken under the wings of the group.
Genre | platonic, fluff
You were small when Vox Machina rescued you with a cluster of other children from the clutches of a vicious band of mercenaries that had decided to try their hand at child trafficking.
You were somewhat disappointed it wasn’t your parents who’d rescued you. A small part of you had hoped it would be them didn’t show, but now you had a chance at finding your family again.
Older children, teens really, took up arms, deciding to fill the new vacuum that would be left by the slaughtered mercenaries. However, they swore to do right by your saviors and tread a more righteous path, perhaps even free children less fortunate.
The younger were eager to return to their homes, and your saviors assured them there would be many to help them find their way in a near-by village. You were young, tiny. But unlike the other children, you had no place to return to once the dust had stilled and blood dried. No place you could name.
One of the roguish band seemed to notice you lagging behind the assortment of children trekking towards freedom. You were the smallest of the lot. Additionally, the unhealthy paleness of your skin suggested you’d been in captivity longer than the comparatively healthier looking younglings.
She offered you a spare cookie, so long as you promised, not let the others know. The wafer was dry and slightly stale, certainly not enough to satisfy your hunger, nonetheless you had something new to add to your very short list of favorite things in the whole world; cookies!
The band of rogues, or as they arrogantly called themselves Vox Machina, seemed nice enough in your opinion, a bit rough around the edges, funny. The biggest of the lot, from what you could tell, was a giant. They let a handful of kids use them as jungle gym as you all made your way. Conversely, the shortest walked alongside them, reminding the giant, buddy?, to be careful of the kids.
Then there was the purple short one and the person with antlers sprouting out of their head. They were funny to watch. The purple one swore he’d be able to help the antlered folk connect with kids, if they followed what they said exactly. Jumping ahead, the purple bard was now considered an easy tease, while the antlered one was particularly worshipped by the children of farmers after demonstrating her relationship with plants. (*Cough cough* peasants)
However, it was the other three you gravitated towards. The most level headed of the bunch, well as level-headed as one could be in this group of crazies. Ghost hair, pointy, and the kind one who’d given you the cookie. With the others corralling/entertaining the kids, they took up the lead, keeping a careful eye on the path ahead, weary of bandits.
You followed close at the heels of the kind one; you liked them the best. They didn’t seem to mind your presence, often checking for you when you began to fall behind. Ghost hair who walked by their side was distrustful, but the two waved off his concerns, poking at his mistrust of children.
You had never witnessed in your life such joy. Upon arriving at the nearest village, there were happy reunions as loved ones were reunited and hope was returned to those who received word of their family’s worry. The guards promised the remaining children they would be clothed and fed, then taken to their proper villages in due time. For the moment, the village had something to celebrate, and heroes to thank.
This gave you the perfect opportunity to disappear into the shadows. When the guards inquired where each of the unclaimed children were from, you were one who couldn’t put a name to the place, and unfortunately you couldn’t remember any landmarks of your home, just a river.
You didn’t know your surname, as your father had taken to calling you only by your affectionate nickname. Additionally, you didn’t know the names of parents. You were young. They were your mom and dad.
You refused to be hauled from village to village only to be placed in an orphanage when they couldn’t find your place. You wanted to find your parents; they had to miss you; you missed them.
You’d heard the purple one speaking, beastly spewing tales of the group's great travels across the lands. Vox Machina, a group of adventurers. Perhaps you could stowaway and use them to travel and find your family. (Thank the heavens you rolled a 19 + your stealth and everyone else rolled crap.)
Unfortunately after a half a day’s travel worth of walking your plan fell to shit when you sneezed.
“Vax, did you just sneeze out of your ass?” - Purple one
In a blink, Vox Machina took arms, ready to tear into the fool that’d decided to follow them. With your brilliant hiding spot beneath pointy’s, Vax’s cloak revealed you stood exposed with seven manners of weapons aimed at you.
You didn’t even flinch, instead waving, in the shy way children do. Your action managed to disengage all but one who’s weapon needed to be pushed down by the kind one.
“Hello darling.” - kind one Vex
After formal introductions were made, you felt comfortable making your plea.
There was an obvious split: Keyleth, Vex, Pike and Grog wanting to assist in your quest. Vex especially understood the hole that could be left by the absence of home. Conversely, Percy, Vax, and Scanlan wanted to return you to the village. Their line of work had no room for a child. Additionally, you would “cramp” their style.
Ultimately, Vax’s mind was changed after a private conversation with his sister. (You wished you had a sibling). Once Vax had been convinced, Percy begrudgingly followed only with the promise that if you caused them any trouble, you’d be turned over to the proper hands. Scanlan still swore your presence would “cramp” their style.
Now conditionally promised their protection, you decided to introduce yourself.
“They call me (y/n).” - You
Thus began your adventures with the group known as Vox Machina.
It wasn’t long before much of the group considered you a member of some status in their little group, though they’d never say.
Vex took it upon herself to teach you the basics of long ranged archery fighting. None of them allowed you to purposely engage in long ranged combat. Still, they armed you with a short bow and a slingshot.
When it was needed, you’d run healing potions to those who need them. Vax would, at some point, admit you were gifted with unnatural agility and speed. You affirm that you’d learned to be quick playing chase with your friend back home.
In terms of personality, you fell into a category with Percy. You tended to think highly of yourself and were quite intelligent. Scanlan Some would call you bossy, you preferred the term responsible. As Percy had conditioned, you couldn’t cause trouble, or they’d leave you behind. So you behaved doing your best to do as you were asked and staying out of trouble.
There was, of course, the naïve innocence that came with you. Everyone could only assume it was due to your time in captivity. There are times your inner child would make an appearance. You’d display your wonder in little jumps or squeals when something managed to excite you. Though you’d quickly regain a composure only comparable to that of a proper young lady.
If anyone it’s Vax, that brings out your childish habits, such a bad influence. He’s always poking at you, trying to convince you to assist him in his latest prank or con. Your cuteness makes you a great accomplice, when you do agree to assist. Partners in crime.
He lets you hide beneath the cloak when the sun is too bright, and snuggle in when the world is too much.
He reminds you of your friend back home.
Keyleth is eager to introduce you to the natural world and all it has to offer. But was disappointed to learn you have little interest in such things. When with your parents, you had heard once that druid magic was abominable. There’s only one magic that should be practiced.
Still, you’re very supportive of Keyleth. Always offering her a hand to hold when you notice her beginning to panic, politely listening to her ideas and rambles. You’re a good confidant.
You do enjoy the time spent with her, despite her antsy anxiety. There’s something about her that’s quieting, not disarming but quieting. Though you’d learned to look down on such tree huggers, you never forbid her from decorating your hair with flowers.
Grog and Pike, you quickly realized, are a friendship pair, the best of buddies, but that didn’t mean there wasn’t room for you in their pair.
Grog is basically an overgrown child himself. When you did unwind, was your giant playmate. Of the group, he was the only one to witness your hidden personality, the one even you yourself were not aware of, not the one you presented to please.
When the two of you would spar, he’d pretend your little punches were the stuff of legend, often letting you win just to see the lopsided smile on your face.
Furthermore, you both shared a love of meat raw or cooked. For one so small, you could certainly stomach your fair share. (He almost gave you ale once but was swiftly shut down by Percy).
As for Pike, she disappeared a lot, leaving much to be desired in terms of your friendship. Nonetheless, she had your back on multiple occasions, earning your admiration. Though you were small and young, she didn’t underestimate you, at times persuading the others to give your ideas a try.
While too much time around Pike would leave you with a headache and somewhat nauseous, presumably because of the long lectures about the Everlight and the righteous path (which bored you), you looked forward to her return whenever she was away.
Due to the risque nature of Scanlan Shorthault, most of Vox Machina did their best to prevent Scanlan from spending one-on-one time with you. They were concerned with what the bardic gnome might say, or teach you, while unsupervised.
Still, while you stayed awake on the dark nights, you couldn't help but listen to the soothing tunes he would strum while the others lay asleep.
Despite his rigidity, your second favorite member of the team was Percival. As mentioned, you two are relatively similar, both quiet, intelligent, and favoring dignified acts. You enjoy following him, attempting to replicate his mannerisms.
Initially, this had annoyed him, but you began to remind him of his younger siblings. Eventually he found himself falling into a certain pattern of behavior with you. “Don’t run too far (y/n),” “Don’t dawdle, (y/n), hold my hand.” Struggling to hide his panic anytime you were injured, checking on you while you slept.
He, of course, maintained his arms length attitude, knowing one day you’d leave the party and reunite with your proper family. Though he would never admit it, he had formed an attachment to you.
Knowing your love for cookies, Vex always has some on hand for when you’re looking down or do something worth rewarding.
Vex adores you. She’s made it her mission to return you to your rightful home. It led to some concern amongst her brother, who had to remind her on more than one occasion not to get too attached.
You care deeply for the strange group that’s taken you under your wing. But their care is conditional, temporary, you’re sure.
Now in Emon you spent much of your free time, usually the late nights, while the others got themselves plastered searching the signage for any inquiries of missing children and asking travelers in taverns about the river you remembered.
You hoped someone had some information that would spark your memory of home this time, as the group set out this evening. After all, this was the last tavern in Emon, hopefully things wouldn’t go sideways this evening.
But of course, your companions had to engage in a bar fight against an opposing band of adventures, all the while you sat peacefully at the bar enjoying some rough mutton. Their actions lead to the barkeep casting you all out to the curb and some questioning Vox’s abilities.
Fortunately, Scanlan discovered a help ad which directed you all to the doors of the palace. If only you’d known the direction, this act path would lead you toward. If only Vox Machina had known you better.

Considering my writing slump is over and Starcrossed Losers has its last two chapters coming up soon:
(Short fic analysis under the cut)
Show Me Mercy - Loki
This series will follow the events of the Loki series (I can fix it). Bowie Branwen is responsible for detecting dangerous variants and reporting them to the minutemen. When Mobius begs for her help one day, she reluctantly accepts, only to figure she has to keep a watchful eye out for the variant that she located and turned in. The more time she spends with him, the more she begins to realise that she might have had a life outside of the TVA. How else can you explain that everyone knows her name, or that Miss Minutes likes to ask the same three questions every single day to Bowie alone?
The Thing That Should Not Be - Eddie Munson
Follows the events of Stranger Things S3 and S4.
Ezra Davis is absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. She just graduated, has a decently paying job at the mall, a handful of friends, and this random 15-year old kid who pretends to scan for records every time she works, asks a weird question and then leaves without buying anything. But that’s completely normal, right?
You First - Din Djarin
Follows the entire events of the Mandalorian + Book of Boba Fett series.
A bounty hunter and a smuggler walk into a bar. Then, they fight over a bounty, which Aiden doesn’t even care much for, save for the fact she’ll get paid twice as much when retrieving the object. Upon meeting the hunter who was supposed to get this job, she finds out she just loves to work on his nerves. Din is trying his very best to get rid of her. Thankfully, Aiden is quick. And extremely adamant.
Eternally Missed - Vax’ildan
Follows the entire series of TLOVM (not Critical Role, am sorry /:( )
If ‘wrong place, wrong time’ was a person, it was Kaia Lovric. She travels the wrong path, steals from the wrong person, ends up in a castle at a wrong time, and runs into the completely wrong group. Due to the wrong interpretation, she is roped into a story she wasn’t even meant to be part of. But there are only so many wrong turns one can take before ending up with the right thing, right?

sex n’ romance with vox machina
[HEADCANNONS]
PAIRINGS — VOX MACHINA [𝘷𝘢𝘹, 𝘷𝘦𝘹, 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘺, 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘭𝘢𝘯] x F!READER
WARNINGS — NSFW, eighteen+ SMUT. penetrative sex, oral sex, outdoor sex, anal-play, face-fucking, tongue-fucking, clit-play, breast/nipple play.
Vax’ildan
𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒍𝒈𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒏 : you. a generous lover and a grateful receiver; he could relish in the taste of your drooling pussy for hours, if not days, and also savour the feel of your hot mouth on his shaft, the feel of your pretty throat squeezing around his long cock.
𝒉𝒆’𝒔 : an adrenaline junkie, loves fucking you outdoors. he’d totally wake you up in the middle of the night to slowly sneak away from where the gang is camping, to a far away tree, making you grip the trunk while he is pummelling your cunt. he’d lean against the tree, grunting and whimpering when you’d take him in your mouth. he’s also have you place one leg on his shoulder— using the tree as support— while he angles himself deeper inside you.
𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒔 : the sounds you make, the pleasurable look on your face, the way you clench around his length, the way you’re his. despite the dozens of men ogling at you wherever vox machina goes, at the end of the day, you choose him; over everybody else. vax’ildan loves you.
Vex’ahlia
𝑖𝑛𝑑𝑢𝑙𝑔𝑒𝑠 𝑖𝑛 : those bittersweet moments the two of you share. before a disaster is waiting to unravel, you hold each other in your arms, kiss like there’s literally no tomorrow. the feel of your soft skin against hers when you sleep, bare.
𝑠ℎ𝑒’𝑠 : losing her mind around you. she thanks all gods and stars that she’s met her soulmate who’s excruciatingly good in bed. vex has a high sex drive but likes to keep things under control, or at least she pretended to, until you showed up and now all she wants to feel is your body on hers. loses her sanity every time you nibble on her clit or leave hickeys on the underside of her breasts.
𝑠ℎ𝑒 𝑙𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑠 : the freedom that comes along with you. the respect you give her is refreshing, and she’s never been loved by anyone like you. neither has she loved anyone like you, the proof of which is delivered every night when she’s got her head trapped between your thighs, lapping away at your stream of juices like the hardworking woman she is. when you return the favour by sucking harshly on her clit, which is when her dominatrix visage starts to crumble.
Percival
𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒍𝒈𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒏 : sinful nights, lustful days. aftercare with you, when he gets to fuck his cum back into you (though that’s his harsher, hornier, possessed side). taking care of your love-bites (they look like an act of savagery, but honestly this man IS feral for you).
𝒉𝒆 : can’t display his affection for you, publicly; his noble status doesn’t permit ‘romeo’ behaviour. — is suffering because of his pride, because the minute he is left alone with you, he pounces onto you like you’re his prey and relishes in you the same way (that rhymed) (i was a poet and i did know it). just fucks you hard and rough on most days because my manz can’t catch a break from the end of the world, and is so worked up (poor babes), but when he makes love to you? fuck. rouge tints his pale face, blushing like there’s no tomorrow, because his crush (you, bunny) is riding his dick, while your naked breasts bounce next to his face.
𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒔 : the night time; it’s his favourite hour of the day, because he finally gets to do the things he’s been craving to do to you, all fucking day. watching you writhe in overstimulation when you can’t take the feel of his hot tongue teasing your engorged clit while his long, rough fingers fuck knuckle-deep into you.
Scanlan
𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒍𝒈𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒏 : no, no no. he 𝑹𝑬𝑳𝑰𝑺𝑯𝑬𝑺 in you. his sex drive is infamous, and you live to hold the rumours true. the taste of your pussy after a day’s work, lapping away at the creamy sweetness that he coaxes out of you is his favourite past time when he’s not drinking away. even if he was (drinking away), he’d pair you up with his favourite beer and die a happy man.
𝒉𝒆 : does not let you catch a break. would totally spill his drink onto your chest, watch the amber beads of cheap beer dribble down your ample chest, your cleavage just begging him to shove his face in and lick the drink away. is so, so good with aftercare. knows he pushes you past your limits, so it’s his love for you that brings out this gentleman-ly side.
𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒔 : shoving that tongue into you, leaving you a sloppy mess. you’d grimace at the way your juices drip down to your asshole, but scanlan? he’d smirk in a flushed state, rubbing your unused hole solely to tease you. fingering both your holes — two in the pussy, one in the ass (knuckle-deep, obviously). sucking your nipples to soreness.
Tumblr media
A/N — thank you so much for reading, sweets. this is my first time writing headcannons so it’s not conventional.
let me know if you’d like me to do this again or/and write for the remaining members [KEYLETH, GROG, PIKE] of vox machina!

What about a head cannon where the members of Vox Machina are sitting around when reader suddenly start to play with their hair?
Vox Machina x Reader
Reader plays with VM's Hair
Percy isn't quite sure how to respond when your fingers brush through his short hair, pushing it back out of his face. He tenses up for a moment, not used to something so tender. But when your fingertips drag across his scalp he relaxes, leaning back into your touch.
Vax is very happy the first time you touch his hair, twisting it around your fingers in an attempt to make it curl. The first time you braid it catches him off guard but he loves it, not taking his hair out of the braid until you want to brush it again (it's a curly mess).
Vex is a bit more hesitant at first. She likes to have her hair exactly where she puts it, so your gentle touch is almost unwelcome at first but she relents, because it's you. You gently brush her hair, humming a song your mother used to sing to you, and nobody dares disturb you. For once, Vex almost seems at peace.
Pike loved when you started to play with her hair. She loves the way your fingers drag across her scalp, almost as though you're trying to massage the tension away. She will always, always, make time for it after a mission.
Scanlan is surprisingly iffy about other people touching his hair. So when you do it for the first time, it takes a lot for him not to flinch away from you. After a while of you gently running your fingers through his hair on a morning, he settles into the new routine.
Keyleth is so happy when you start to play with her hair. She leans into your hand immediately, silently giving permission for you to do what you pleased. You twist it round your fingers, braid parts of it, brush it through, twist sections up into buns. It's a fun way for you to relax together.

Hear me out
Imagine Vox Machina with a crush that’s covered head to toe in armor. They never seen their face but that doesn’t mean their personality isn’t fantastic. Gentle soul, funny, excellent fighter, etc.
One day fighting a monstrosity of a creature the crush’s helmet breaks do to what would be a fatal attack. However the crush still stands as only their helmet pieces fall.
The one with the crush sees their face for the first time. They see their crush facing the creature with a piercing glare and the most intimidating snarl they seen.
Only one thought runs through that member’s head at the moment “oh fuck they’re hot”
Love at first face reveal 😆!
Tumblr media
Percy
Once he’s done picking up his jaw from the floor, he just looks for an excuse to talk more with you, putting a voice to a face he longed to gaze at
Grog
He’s never been more turned on and attracted to you! Can’t stop staring even as s big scary monster tries to ruin the moment
Pike
The gnome cleric is just your biggest cheerleader atp and while she may be distracted a bit during a fight, it’s a very much welcomed distraction
Vax’ildan
Baby boy is done and gone once he sees you!! Can’t peel his eyes off of you and it’s a new side of you that he loves getting used to and seeing
Scanlan
So in love with you right now! a battle angel that always saves his ass and looks good doing it
Vex’ahlia
Oh she knows she’s hit the jackpot with you, and even teases why you’ve worn the armor so long is to protect that petty face
Keyleth
It’s a solidified “oh. Oh! OH!” moment for her and even let’s her “you’re beautiful…” praise slip out, which you think is adorable

My Knight Trapped In Armor
Critical Role Vox Machina
Vax x Fem! Reader
Minors Do Not Interact
Tumblr media
You have been with the group since the beginning for this long journey. Currently, collecting all the relics is your main mission. You’ve have gotten ahold of the first of the vestige and Vax had the honor of putting it on…. He was happy about it until he figured out that it will never come off.
You have been with Vax for a long while. You, Vax, and Vex were practically raised together. Ever since they ran from home you have always been there. You saved them from there first big fight. You haven’t strayed since that. You have always been there and helped them recruit the now known Vox Machina.
Vax has always had a crush on you, just didn’t want to ruin the friendship you had. Vex sees you as a little sister, Vax didn’t want to make it weird. He didn’t take the leap of faith until after the falling out at Whitestone to tell you how he felt, of course, with the encouragement of his sister. You returned the feelings and been with him ever since. So, onto the story.
The crew decided to make camp for the night. They found a nice clearing right before night fall so, everything was set up and ready to go before dusk. Everyone sat around the camp fire having normal conversation. Vax sat close to you. His new armor poking you every now and then but, you ignore it because you like the contact with him. Of course, you knew he could never take this off because his deal with the Raven Queen. You don’t even think that he knows how much he can… take of without something happening or being *gulps* cut of. Magic armor is dangerous.
In the middle of a small exchange with Scanlan, you felt Vax’s hand rest on your thigh. You gave him a side eye and he responded with a slight motion with his head. He wanted to go for a walk before it was too dark. You knew his queues by now. So, being the cunning girl you are, you got Grog into the conversation which accidentally (on purpose) made an argument between them about something dumb that somehow everyone else ended up in. As soon as the heat was off of you, Vax took your hand and walked of in the direction he suggested with his head.
You walked for a good 10 minutes before Vax finally stopped in his tracks.
“There. I think we are far enough, Darling.”
He turned to face you finally. He leaned down and gave you a kiss. You just giggled and kissed back,
“I think I know why you brought us out here. It’s been a little while, huh?”
He pulled away slight to lock eyes with you. You could see the lust and love for you run through his head.
“Of course it has. Everything is been chaotic as hell and you have been so badass recently. Finally, I can deal with this pent up heat you cause me. Darling, I would love to have you if you’d let me.”
He brought your hand to his face and kisses it. You giggled once again.
“Of course, My Love. I would love to have you.”
Vax gave you a toothy grin. He pulled you a little farther to the nearest tree and took a seat against it you. You took the queue and sat in his lap. You kissed him. Your hands locking themselves in his dark hair. He kisses back and set his hands on your hips. The kiss continued to deepen. He snaked his tongue into your mouth.
One of his hands reached up and made it’s way into your hair. The kiss finally parted. He used the interlocked hand in your hair to pull your head slightly back. He leaned forward and bit onto your neck. He proceeded to bit and suck on the supple skin. You let out a small moan. You felt the smirk against your neck as he continued down.
When he got to you collarbone, he released your hair. In return, you gripped his and pulled slightly. He growled out,
“Hey, are you gonna be nice or do I have to get mean?”
You gulped,
“N-no, Vax, Sir.”
“That’s what I thought.”
He reached down and grabbed at the hem of you shirt. Your armor has be taken off since the campsite. You knew it would be safe there so, you’ve been without it. You pulled up you shirt over your head and set it on the ground next to you. Your chest was now in full display to him. (With the armor your wear, it naturally cups your breast so, no need for a bra.)
“What a good fucking girl.”
You just let out a small squeak at the statement. The squeak turned into a moan as Vax took a nipple into his mouth. With the help of one of his hands, he played with your breast, switching between them. He nipped, sucked, and pinched at your nipples. All you could do is grip his hair and push your chest into his mouth. You, caught up in the pleasure, subconsciously started grind onto him. He could feel the friction through his armor. He kept his lips around one of your nipples as his hands left to join on your hips.
He pulled you down onto him. The pleasure increased for both of you. He could feel you through his armor, every little movement and pulse your pussy did. The friction of the engravings on the armor hit every friction need that you usually would have. Vax’s lips came off your nipple with a wet pop. Your nipples were now red and starting to swell slightly from the abuse that endured.
Vax removed his hands to reach down to his pants, he felt for and opening, anything that he could use get his cock out. He could only sit there for a second and watch his beautiful girlfriend drunkenly grind on him. Screw it, he wasn’t about to stop her to look for a opening. He’ll look for next time. Right now, he is going to get the both of you off. He grabbed you by the hips and started to grind up into her.
You closed you eyes in pleasure and arched you back. Your gripped his hair tighter and let out a moan of his name. He grunted in response and speed up. He could feel it. She’s getting close, well, he was too. He leaned up and kissed her desperately. You moaned into the kiss and turned it into a sloppy wet kiss. He felt like he needed to step the grinding. He moved a hand to caress the back of her head as he leaned forward to lay her on the grass. The kiss continued as he grinned harder and faster into her. The Vestige he wore increased his speed significantly.
You let out a loud moan of his name. He swallowed the moan. You broke the kiss reluctantly. Vax moved instantly to bite your neck. The coil in your stomach tightened,
“V-vax. I’m close. So so close.”
She desperately clawed at his back, which, of course, was armored. He growled. You knew that he was too. You arched your back off the ground. He quickly moved his arms under you. He quickly attached to one of your swollen nipples. That was all you needed.
“V-Vax-“
You didn’t even finish your statement because the tightened coil snapped. Vax felt how you froze and the pulsation against the armor. He ground down a couple more time before finishing himself, in his armor. And you, your panties and shorts you wore. You both caught your breath as you held each other.
“I love you so much, Baby.”
“I love you so much, My Love.”
After a couple minutes, Vax sat up first and grabbed your shirt. You thanked him and put it on.
“At least it’s dark, no one is gonna see my shorts. I’ll clean them tomorrow when the sun is up again.”
Vax chuckled and helped his Beloved up off the now wet ground,
“Yeah, but, the next question is, I can’t take this off… How the hell are we gonna clean my pants?”
You just giggled,
“We’ll figure it out, My Knight Trapped In Armor.”
Vax just grinned and kissed up before walking back in the direction of camp. You used your abilities to illuminate the surrounding area since the sun already set. You loved this man to death. You know that you would figure out something to make this easier for the both of you to get used to but…. what just happened… Wasn’t half bad.
I hope you have enjoyed this read! If you have anymore requests, I have an request post available. With that, see ya next post!

Part 7 of deadweight, please?? It’s such a good series!
Tumblr media
Vax, Vex, Keyleth and Percy were quick to abandon the original plan in finding the vestige in the hopes of finding you and so far they weren’t so lucky.
Every dark shade that they’d believe to be you was a mere fluke in a realm where it felt like you were on some strange LSD acid trip 24/7. They didn’t know how you could split off from them when you were right next to them through the journey here.
Keyleth believed that it might’ve been the realm, taking offence to your position as the raven queens champion. It was a plausible reason seeing how everything reacted negatively towards you lately.
Vax, Vex and Percy however collectively agreed that their Druid party member just had a bad spell casting capabilities. She was making an attempt which is what counts.
“Do you think they’ll ever forgive us?” Keyleth asked the question that was truly on everyone’s mind but they all knew the answer to that too.
“No.” Vax answered bluntly, “they’d be pissed if our method of reconciliation with them was to sweep all the shit we’ve done to them under the rug.”
“That’ll be the equivalent of kicking a man while he’s down.” Percy pitched in, “We’d be disregarding their feelings and experiences if we did that.”
“So our only option in making it up to them is to acknowledge that we were cunts and promise to be better for the future.” Vex finished as they continued to delve deeper into the woods. “Wherever they are,” she continues, “I hope they’re alright.”
[with you]
“VAX, VEX, KEYLETH, PERCY! IM GOING TO KILL YOU! AND THEN KILL YOU AGAIN!” You screamed as you ran further into a dense, dead forest to escape from the murderous vegetation that had been trailing you. All you did was step on some weird looking flower! You apologised afterwards! What more could they fucking want!
When you didn’t hear the rampaging horde of angry plants did you dare to look back to see that they had seemingly lost sight of you and gave up the hunt in order to head back home. “Weird.” You said to yourself, sheathing your daggers but before you were about to continue trekking the foreign land for your party members.
a voice called out to you from deep within the forest, causing you to become in some sort of trance as though your body was no longer yours to control anymore as you could only watch yourself walk through the dead forest, through some sickly looking swamp of thick black goo like substance as though it were water.
“You’re friends aren’t coming to save you my dear,” the voice said. “They’re too preoccupied with the vestige to worry about your well being.” It then chuckled before continuing, “your need for companionship is quite pathetic. You feel alone whenever you in a room with the rest of your party. Alienated, ostracised, outcasted from the group of outcasts.”
“I, however, can provide you all the companionship you will ever need, all you need to do is come to me. Come to me. Come to me. Come to me.”
Your body did as this voice told you as you watched it reach a dead tree trunk that opened up with an ominous red glow. As soon as you stepped inside, the tree was quick to close up behind you, sealing you in with whatever monster laid inside.
“That’s not good.” Warned a horned mystery figure with fiery hair sat upon a rock. “I must tell their friends that their little warrior mate is in danger, grave danger should they hear out Saurndor terms and conditions.” With a blink of an eye, the figure had dissipated in thin air.

They’ve searched
And searched
And searched
But they had yet to still find evidence that you weren’t dead in a ditch somewhere but Percy, Vax, Vex and Keyleth believed that they were getting close, though how close was close was still up for debate.
“Ugh! They could be anywhere by now!” Vex cries as she and the others crossed a riven, annoyed at the lack of progress. How could they miss a armoured figure with black feathered shoulder pads in a realm of eye straining, migraine inducing colour?!
Either you were trying to find them also or…Vex didn’t want to think about the other option. They’ve lost you once, they were determined to never loose you again. They still had unresolved problems to put to rest.
“They couldn’t have possibly gone to Syngorn?” Percy asked, looking back they way they came as though waiting to see your silhouette encroach in on them but nothing. The gunslinger sighs in disappointment and dissatisfaction as he pinched the skin between his brows.
“Fat chance.” A unknown voice told them.
Percy, Vax, Vex and Keyleth turned to look who it was only to see a fiery haired being with horns sat not too far from them, notebook in hand.
Vax was quick to pull of his dagger, “who are you and what have you done with y/n?” He threatens but the horned male merely laughed as though he was threatened with a stick rather then a sharpened piece of forgery.
“I haven’t done anything to them, but Lord Saundor will should you fail to reach them in time.” He muses, still drawing in his little notebook.
“What is that meant to mean?” Percy said gutturally, holding his gun at the being who seemingly knew your whereabouts. “Who’s Saundor?”
“That’s for you to know and for you to find out.” The figure cheeked before pointing towards the dead forest that Keyleth, Vax, Vex and Percy seemed to somehow miss in their mission of searching for you.
“They’re currently under his trance. I should’ve told them to not listen to him but by the time I got to them, they were already walking right into his trap. Poor thing, whatever ails them must take a heavy toll on them.”
Vax, Vex, Percy and Keyleth looked to each other in shame and sorrow. Whatever this saurdon did to you, must’ve been using your most deeply desired against you, they had indirectly made you dispensable to him and now this was their chance to make up for everything by saving you.
“Lead us there and we’ll think about letting you live.” Vex said.
“VEX, VAX, KEYLETH, PERCY! IM GOING TO KILL YOU! AND THEN KILL YOU AGAIN!”
“VAX, VEX, KEYLETH, PERCY! IM GOING TO KILL YOU! AND THEN KILL YOU AGAIN!”
“VAX, VEX, PERCY, KEYLETH! IM GOING TO KILL YOU! AND THEN KILL YOU AGAIN!” You screamed as you ran into a forest area with weird looking plants trailing you with murderous intent.
“VEX, VAX, KEYLETH, PERCY! I WILL KILL YOU! AND THEN KILL YOU AGAIN!” You screamed as you ran deeper into a weird looking forest area with even weirder looking plants tailing after you with murderous intent.
“VEX, VAX, PERCY, KEYLETH IM GOING TO KILL YOU! AND THEN KILL YOU AGAIN!” You screamed as you ran as fast as your legs could carry you deeper into the woods as weird freaking plant fucks were tailing you

A vox machina oneshot
Vax x reader.
The reader has a card that allows them to swap places with the intended target depending on the intention behind it. They use it on vax and take his place as the raven queens champion just as she is about to take him away. They tell vax to go be with keyleth and live a full and happy life with her Unknown to the reader vax was in love with them the whole time. The last thing they say to him is a heart felt confession on their love for him before they dissapear. I know it's an angst one but if you want to make a fluffy ending it's up to you
Enjoy! 😘
They tried. Everyone tried. Every loophole, every possible way to weasel out of this deal with the goddess of death was exploited. All of them failed. They tried and they failed. At least they tried. The only regret Vax has is they wasted plenty of time on this unsolvable problem. He knew his time was running out. Even before he realised it. He knew that time would come where she’d pull his tether and he’d have to leave everyone being. She sent him out with a purpose and that’s now completed. Not even the greatest wish could change that. Especially not now. The deal is done. Vax accepts this. It took him a while but he does. It doesn’t make it any easier though. She gave him time to say goodbye. She didn’t have to. There is yet some mercy left in the cold dead heart of the Raven Queen, some compassion still beyond that broken mask. He got to say goodbye to you.
This can’t be the end. This is not the way. You refuse to accept this fate. For all the love in your heart, for the bleeding hearts of your friends. They need him. You need him. He cannot just slip into oblivion to serve the goddess of death for eternity because of some cruel mistake. It’s neither just nor fair. This fate is a cruel one. Fate is cruel. You know it all too well. Life deals you a hand of cards when you are born. Some are born lucky. Others are lucky to be born. Some are destined for greatness. Others are doomed from the start. For entities that pretend to be benevolent and kind, they are not far off from the tyrant claiming themself king, or the evil mage enslaving the many. It all comes down to that hand of cards. You got lucky. For all the bullshit in your life you got your hand on one of those cards and you just happen to be good at that ethereal game of sleight of hand. It’s not cheating if there’s no rules. You drew from the deck of fate and you got lucky. That luck came with a curse though because you’d always know what the gravity of that decision would mean.
You got your hands on a card that could change fate; your fate to be specific. You may have thought about it many times but by using that twist of fate you condemn another to yours. Could you live with yourself knowing that you took something from another for your own gain? Equally, would you sacrifice yourself for anyone down on their luck and willing to take their suffering instead? You know damn well why you didn’t use this cruel trinket. But now, it resurfaces again, it burns in your palm as you walk by Vex trying to hold herself together as she pats her brother on the shoulder with some witty remark. You nearly break when he pulls her into a hug and you see her tears spill. She wipes them away before he pulls back. Vax noticed either way. You notice all of them heartbroken. You’re heartbroken too. You don’t want him to go. He holds part of your heart after all. You’ve never told him so blatantly but it’s true no less.
You see Keyleth falling apart at the seams. Vax tries to console her but he can’t. She holds his heart. He holds hers and he’ll be taking it with him whether he intends to or not. It hurts him to know he’ll leave his friends, his family, his love so hurt with his departure. You see the effect Vax has had on their lives, all of them, on yours. You know how much he means to them and that card of fate starts to become more and more appealing. You have a chance to save someone you love. You can make a change in order for him to change the world. You can give him a chance of life by throwing away your own to the service of some god and you’d do it without a second thought. You will. You’ve already made up your mind. The only reason why you haven’t yet is because you struggle to find the right words to tell him. You don’t think you can face him with this. What would he think of you to know you could have changed a fate so easily and never did. Are you truly so selfish? Were you truly not ready to until it came down to your own pain? You can’t keep avoiding this anymore and so you slip away.
Vax notices you retreating ever so slowly. How could he not? He might be light on his feet and it takes one to know one but he’d always notice your presence or lack thereof. The air changes and so does that strange coiling feeling within him whenever you’re near. It’s quite pleasant. He’s known it for a while now but with his impending doom, he could not bring himself to give into it, to give into you knowing he’d only break you. He made that choice for you he supposes but equally so for himself. He can’t look you in the eye while he’s torn away from you. He can’t face your tears. The others, it’s already hell on Exandria facing them but were he to face you, he’d be falling apart. You’ve been strong so long. He wishes he could be as strong as you. He doesn’t have the heart for it but he too has begun to see the cracks in your armour. Something’s amiss and when he sees you slowly retreat to the back of the room, away from the conversation, away from the people until you slip outside entirely, he feels that tether pull taut and he cannot but follow.
Vax finds you out front. There’s something in your palm, a card he realises. Just the one. It’s got a golden sheen to it and you reach out to touch it. He sees your shoulders shaking and tense. You bite your lip. That’s when you let out a muffled sob. You’re not aware he’s there. You squeeze your eyes shut and tears spill. He takes a step closer to you.
“If you had the power to change this fate, would you?” So you had noticed his approach. He couldn’t care less. You’re hurt. Not physically but you’re hurt either way and it breaks his heart. It’s yours after all, even if you don’t know it. You quickly put that golden card back in your pocket. You wipe away your tears and let out a shaky breath.
“What do you mean?” He questions but the look you give him implies no humour and comes with a sense of urgency. “I don’t want to go. I’d much rather stay here with you, with them but I can’t. It was a worthy sacrifice and I’d make the choice a thousand times over.
“If-uh-“ You try to find the right words but can’t even look him in the eye. “If another could take that place and you could stay, would you stay?” He thinks for a second and then grows suspicious.
“At what cost?” You shake your head.
“I’m sorry. Forget I said anything. You shouldn’t be spending this valuable time out here with me talking about this stupid-“
“Hey, hey- time spent with you is never wasted. I want you here with me, for as long as I have, for as long as you’ll have me.” You feel his palm agains your cheek, raising your gaze to meet his. You see that pained but kind smile. It only solidifies your choice. You know what to do.
“Okay.” You squeak not able to keep your voice stable and Vax just simply pulls you into his embrace. That’s the last conversation you’d have with him until that fated moment, until the true goodbye.
The goddess had come to lay claim to her champion, to the life she’s to call hers and the servitude she’s owed. The goodbye is a harrowed one but it’s not his goodbye. You look at Keyleth holding onto Percy who does his best to console her, Vex attempting to stay strong and stoic despite the tears running down her face and noticeable the death grip she has on Pike’s hand. Scanlan’s even struggling and so is Grog. The Raven Queen holds out her hand and beckons. Vax says goodbye to you last. He holds onto your hand, brings it to his chest. There’s no words he speaks but his eyes say it all. You take a step towards him and turn so you’re interposing between himself and the goddess. The others go alert, contemplating the prospects of killing the goddess and freeing the resident rogue form this cruel pact if you make the first move. Vax holds onto your hand still as if to keep you from doing something stupid or reckless against a literal god. Little does he know.
“I invoke the blessing I have been given. I invoke the fate that was never mine and will share the burden of it. I trade my place for his as it is the right of the hand that was dealt to me. Fate wills it so, and so it shall be.” You remember the words well. Though you have never spoken them out loud. They are like a practiced speech. You’ve played them over in your mind; the script upon that  fated golden card and when it appears in your palm it glows that bright golden like the tethers of fate and memory the Raven Queen holds so dear. It certainly peaks her interest.
“What are you doing?” Vax asks looking between you and the goddess. You glance back over your shoulder.
“What I should have done the very moment this curse befell you. I’m sorry I could not do it before. I hope you can forgive me. You’ll be free.”
“You can’t do this!” Desperation and despair are the ways of the mortal worlds, of those consumed by time and whims of circumstance. They are the ways of you and him and everyone around you.
“It’s okay, Vax. It’s okay. I’ve made my choice. They need you more than they need me. I wish you a happy life. Even if I can’t be part of it.”
“I need you.” He sounds so small, so broken and that alone makes you almost regret. Almost. But you wouldn’t reverse it. Even if you could.
“Your heart belongs here. With Them. With your sister. With Keyleth. My heart belongs with you but you do not need it, not like they need you. It’s a worthy sacrifice.” You take a step closer towards the goddess but Vax does not let go of your hand. He holds on.
“That’s where you’re wrong. I love them. I love my sister, my friends, Keyleth. I love them. But I’m in love with you. I’m in love with you and I can’t let you do this.” Your heart stops right there in your chest. Your world comes apart. To have those words be spoken… You don’t even know what to do with them. You can’t breathe or speak or think for some moments. He loves you. He’s in love with you. Vax is in love with you and you’re about to leave him behind. You’ve made the right choice either way but it’s become a far more painful one now and you come to realise that’s exactly what he tried to protect you from by not mentioning before. You hate and love him for it.
“It’s already done.” That stupid card dematerialises in a golden dust. and invisible breeze lets the dust weave into a tether to wrap around your free arm. You feel it burn and pull painfully so. You pull against the strain, toe to toe with Vax and softly place your lips against his. A final parting gift, for whom you’re unsure. “My fate is sealed. May you live a good life, Vax’ildan. May it be a long and merry one filled with love.” And that’s when you step away, in that brief moment where he lowers his guard and is forced to let you go. The golden tether pulls you in and away from him. The Raven Queen beckons you and you follow with one last glance over your shoulder, one last look at him.
“I love you.” The final words he’ll ever hear from your lips. He’s too late to respond. You’re gone. The goddess of death is gone. His heart is gone and he’s left on Exandria broken and surrounded by his loved ones. He feels empty despite it. He doesn’t know what to do or say or think. It’s a whirlwind.
