guys cmon. be ffr please. akemi did Not love taigen. the only reason why she was desperate to search for him to the point of putting herself in danger is because she didn't want to get married to an abusive man (which she believed at the time that takayoshi was). when seki tried to dissuade her from running off, her reason was not "but i love taigen and wanna be with him 🥺" it was because she refused to be controlled and have her autonomy taken from her; she literally says "i won't be locked away in edo married to a stranger." and when seki still tries to argue that getting married to the heir of the shogun would be better than getting caught by brigands, she then says "that kind of man"—referring to takayoshi—"treats women like animals. they say he's a tyrant." and when seki chuckles and says "what man isn't?" her response is "you." she doesn't even talk about taigen. she is using him as much as he was using her. they both see—or, well, saw—each other as means to an end. for taigen he saw that marrying into the tokunobu clan would elevate his status and wealth. for akemi she wanted the right to choose who she married, and she wanted that person to be someone kind. that's it! neither of them loved each other. but since they were courting of course they acted sweet to each other, and they do still care for one another, especially due to their romantic history. but let's be real! akemi is a boss bitch who dropped taigen and forgot all about his ass as soon as she saw takayoshi was a nice guy. because duh? not only is takayoshi a better lover (it's implied their lovemaking lasted a long time) but he's also kinder towards her and presents her with an opportunity to claim power and freedom, which she would not have if she had married taigen, as she would have still been stuck under her father's thumb. so literally why should she settle for taigen's stupid ass! she may be a little naive at times but she's still incredibly intelligent. she would not do something stupid for the sake of "love." you know who would though? taigen.

If there is at least one thing I can credit FE for doing better than Tales in localization, it's not trying to actively go out of their way for an entire game to avoid subtext or direct text between two men that is romantic or implied romantic. Funny when it's so present that the attempt doesn't even work; infuriating that it was attempted to begin with.

I'm too lazy to illustrate it (plus I think I'd get too caught up in the process LMFAO) but when drawing/adding personal touches to Lif's design I am channeling Lio Fotia Promare for his armor (ESP the Mad Burnish armor) Lewis Mystery Skulls (less aesthetic similarities reflected but like, kinda similar broad chested body type similar vibes and important heart motifs) (heart motif isn't pictured in this Lewis image but if you've seen the animated music vids you get it) and literally just any 2D animated Disney villain who is Shaped and Dramatic (and has a huge fucking cape or coat -- tbh the specific ones I think about are Maleficent and Cruella just from the dramatic/big cape standpoint, purely aesthetic)

- the whole thing about people wanting to know what happened in the woods but the girls not talking about it - yes they could admit that they ate a couple people, especially Jackie since she technically died of natural causes, but the reason that they won't talk about it, that they find it so horrific, is as Shauna says: it wasn't out of survival. They probably could have lasted a bit longer without eating Jackie but they wanted to and then the later people they ate it turns into a game/cult ritual of hunting them down and building traps - and because as Shauna also says: they want to do it. And presumably they still want to do, they liked the "unpredictability" of the woods. That's what they find so horrifying about their situation - they wanted to eat Jackie and then they purposefully making a ritual out of it rather than just necessity of no food. If someone told you that they wanted to eat those people and it wasn't purely because they would have starved to death, you can't tell me you wouldn't have a single thought of that person is fucked up.

Honestly I will take the L if they do do something absolutely horrific in the woods but even then they could admit to the eating people and just leave that out to get people to leave them alone, but the fact they won't probably means it's linked to the cannibalism.

not me morbius posting in the year of our lord 2023 but i just watched eddy burback’s watching morbius five times video and it got me thinking about the potential milo’s motive had

the suggestion of milo being possessive over morbius that they then just kind of ignored could’ve been a really unique motive. yes, being resentful of able bodied people after being disabled his entire life works but what if they capitalised on morbius essentially claiming him (that again goes nowhere)? he renamed him, he saved his life. in milo’s mind, they could have ownership over each other. they share the same rare illness and became friends, they managed to live longer than they expected, there has to be reason they met, right? something higher than just coincidence, it was fate

that then gives a good explanation as to why he funds everything he wants and why/how he became rich; hes not smart enough to follow him in his career so he injects himself into his life the only way he can: with his money. play more to him being obsessed with morbius and wanting to be a vampire so they can be the same again; not to be healthy or better than humanity, only so they share this super rare and unique to them connection again and thats why he kills the nurse and the father figure doc and attacks marlene. they were threats to his place in morbius’ life and that couldn’t happen

get rid of the “we’re better than everyone, we can be gods” or whatever it was and have his entire motive being his obsession over morbius
