EMBRACING THE WEDDING SEASON WITH DECORATIVE WALL PLATES
“Wedding season chal rha hai to socha aapse poochh lu!”
“Kya?”
“Aap bhi kisi acchhe se Vicky Kaushal ko dhoond ke shaadi kyu nhi kar leti!”
Whistles, claps and manifestation!
Well, Katrina, quite literally, found her Vicky Kaushal and here, my brother found her Katrina as well! Wedding festivities brought in the home décor duties, and who else took the charge but yours truly. I wanted to create a warm space decorated with beautiful wall arts!
Recently, I have been immensely attracted to decorative wall plates. With simplistic features, they hold the power to make your house look the way you wish. Narrowing down to ceramics, I visited a few websites, and eventually came across The Quirk India. Offering a large diversity, from florals, clean abstracts to some heavy, authentic cultural aesthetics, the range is just baffling!
Due to the Hindu family background I hail from, there is always this strong impulse to paint the entire wedding flavor in hues of red. The vision of a heavenly bride, walking in the doors of her new home, passing a hallway lit in yellow light, adorning some refined pieces of red- traditional wall plates is like capturing the sight of a goddess descending on the planet.
Hence, commensurate with my earnest desire of incorporating traditional feels in my home during such an auspicious event, I straight away looked for a few historical art frames complimenting my needs. There was an extensive set of Mughal periodic art, traditional Pichwai art hailing from Rajasthan or even some Peacocks painted over an all red background to name a few. But my heart specifically settled on one. I found this 4 plates set, portraying the Royalty and heritage of my country with almost every element blooming in it. A frame that had it all- Peacocks, elephants, historical monuments and what not! The pattern work that surrounded all these features made it even more captivating. Not only did it have a pop of red in every frame but also some carefully blended complementary colors that made the whole experience fascinating.
Booked it in an instant! Besides the obvious royalty these decorative wall plates exhibit, there is a certain sense of homeliness they portray. A welcoming feeling that simply warms the heart to the core. Past the huge lampshade in our drawing room, these plates grace the wall, right above the brown sofa set, laid back in white covers, painted yellow in the light falling peacefully on them… Calls for a “WOW” and is indeed love at first sight for many!
