Honey Child's 2022. It started with my first published Australian magazine spread with @colournarymag. My first international recipe and writing for @madeinhackney. Then @roamingtrees and I started sharing our immersive storytelling collective, LalinRòka with the World. We met JB and did our first LR private function which led to my SpokesHoney position with @tamarvalleytruffles. I started writing a Children's book series (coming soon 😘). I also had my @abchobart segment on evenings become a regular weekly slot. I took a little trip to visit my bubble bestie @vintagetasmania where she conspired and got me in front of @adamliaw, which led to being asked to his show (airing soon)🤭. Tamas and I made our first @mirodigitalau film. @ponyblackco (and💕 Evie) came to my fashion rescue and bound us Sisterfriends forever. Her faith in my madness and our shared devotion to Goddessness had her reach the stars to aid my TV debut. Which led me to the shiny and awesome world of @emmadeancooks. She exploded my bubble in a pink glittery shower of culinary Sisterhood, ultimate opportunity and possibilities I never dared think were for me. @eatwell_magazine printed my words and shared me with the stratosphere. I began shooting 🍄Truffle vids that showcased Tassie agriculture, eating locally, and how truffles truly are for all of Us. Mrs J flew in so we could have the best Thanksgiving I've had as an Aussie. Hands down.Then I got to show my fondness for Kind David & Queen Varcha by catering his surprise party, where I got to spend time with THE @blackoliveaustralia🖤, a lifelong DMcG bestie. When I think of 2022 I am amazed, humbled, delighted, and agog with it all. The Harvest has kept my cheeks sore from laughter and wet from happy tears. Honey Child has had her sweetest year, yet!!! My good friend 🍾@vintagetasmania invited me up for 🌿🍎@agriculturedtasmania 2022. It was great! @adamliaw was the kick off speaker for a day of Food discussion panels. After Curly and I went over to meet him and were invited to be on 📺The Cook Up. I couldn't believe it. After 15 years of cooking and teaching around Australia, we were going on the @sbsfood network on the number #1 food show🫣😱🥹! What a great 🤩opportunity! This incredible team went above and beyond for us. They arranged comfy travel, really luxurious and safe accommodations, and made my first network TV experience one I'll never forget. From⭐ Kate the producer of Greatness, to 🌟Ash the main contact, to Steven💄 the Fierce who dolled me up, Cheech🎬 (sp?) who guided us through every step of the "live" filming, to 👨🏽‍🍳Dante who made me look like I've been cooking on set my whole life. It was a real education on being a part of a team united by a common🏅 goal. I'll never forget this experience it was awesome. Today is a day of reflection and intention setting. As I came out of meditation I had an epiphany. The quality of kinship I'm blessed with is truly miraculous. I am truly loved by incredible creatures divinely crafted and set on my path. Some of my rewards are with me right now. @vintagetasmania is one of these celestial Rewards. I firmly believe with the whole of my being that The Creator sends you people to help you through this life. This amazing woman has done absolutely nothing but stand for me, speak my name to Power & Industry, and when I forget my Way, she rights my steps. I have been blessed with extraordinary opportunities because of this Goddess. But more than that, she keeps my flame lit. She reminds me of what I've accomplished and of my worthiness to go to the next realm. She reminds me of my over preparedness. She reminds me of my possibilities. She sisters me. She reminds me of my hard worked for brilliance, technical aptitude, and prowess. She protects my too too tender heart. She reminds me of my beauty and my power. Closing 2021 on an extreme high! @vintagetasmania took @dilettantevino and me on a luxe afternoon to @bangorshed for a next level adventure. It was a gorgeous drive filled with great conversation and music. Just what I needed after the holiday catering rush, our first Christmas without our beloved Dad, a little boarder opening covid fright, late holiday package arrival, and an intense iso deep clean of the house. Today Bangor Vineyard really showed out. The gracious hosts spoiled us from the bubbles at hello, to the final tastes before we toured the property. The grounds are verdant and plotted out wisely. The animals well tended and very well cared for. They clearly honor the indigenous people and take their Stewardship seriously. They are also really excellent employers with most if not all of the staff living within 20 minutes and gave such great service it was staggeringly clear they felt pride in working at such a beautiful property. The lunch was excellent. Full flavored, generously portioned, and interesting. The menu catered tilted to an inclusive audience providing from snacks to sweets for mostly everyone. But the stand out surprise for me was the selection of wine. Many standouts were the Rose, the Pinot Gris, and shockingly the Chardonnay. I hadn't tasted a Chardonnay that delicious in at least 15 years. Refreshing. Clean. Oaky without being oppressively woody.. An enough acid to really delight. What a Juneteenth!! Team Honey had the extreme honor of feeding the Hospitality Wine Folks for @bottletops_21 in Tasmania's oldest pub, the Hope & Anchor. We served chicken leg & sausage gumbo and a Vegan smoked Black eye pea stew. We made enough bougie cornbread and fluffy rice to outfit the dishes and soothe the hard partying bellies. And just when things got rocking we hit them with Sweet potato pie and Boozy butterscotch custard with triple chocolate shards. The punch drunks loved every bite and were so generous with praise for the Team. It was a great way to spend my 7th @dark_mofo. The first pic is the 💜. In black & white are Ivy & Tom. These two spearheaded the event from bump in, to getting the food out to me perfectly, and as quick as I needed. Ivy is the best Expeditor and leader, it makes everything I need to do in front of the Feaster's effortless. Jacey & Miwa"The cutie pies"were front and center helping to kick out googobs of goodness and serve the accoutrements with smiles and ninja like accuracy. Special shout out to Jacey and all the kms running food. And last but never least @vintagetasmania. Curly not only is the reigning queen and expert on Wine & viticulture, excellent educator, fermentation specialist, she is also the UKs best imported Hostess. She kept everyone happy, feasting, drinking, all while keeping one foot in the kitchen insuring everything was smoothly running and at its best. I met this Goddess MOFO 2014 and we've been friends ever since. She takes me in every room she goes in and is the truest Ambassador and PR for Honey Child's Creole I could pray for. She drove in just to shine for me. These gorgeous humans make my madness happen, and look after me while working in the Crazy. I only have to catch one of their eyes and I can push a little harder, because they give 150% every event. Every time. I really can never thank them enough for their support, faith in my vision, or just their great love and kinship. This last #Womanshistorymonth💗 goes out to all the Women that have helped Honey Child be much much much more than I ever knew that I could be. From @blackculinary for keeping me tethered, enriched by, included in Black American Culinary, and real kinship and Sisterhood. @apublishedevent have taught me more about writing, digital performance, sharing vulnerability, and intimate generosity. They improved everything about me as an artist. They rallied with their friends and upgraded everything about HC from my logo, to building my site, to helping sell (and deliver) food they made their friends order. @helen_lehane gave me my first retail outlet and bought my first license. The power trio of Momma Fran, Tan, and Jodie held my first cooking classes at theirs, helped peel mountains of potatoes, rolled mtrs of pastry, printed labels, and called in help through their ranks in my Darkest times.@mandy.bautistaa and her incredible family (Ivy not pictured but deep in my heart 24/7) are 100% my army, muses, and cheerleaders, @darcmeadow has authored and is helping on digital dreams yet to come. @jeanettefindlay is my Example in everything from being an incredible Sistah, to a world class cook, and vocal champion and Ally. @roomforjillo has entrusted me to test her incredible recipes and is 24/7 Fairy CakeGoddess indoor, advice, and support. @vintagetasmania you cannot find a more supportive, loving, brilliant cheer Goddess. Male celebrities and sports people of the past aren’t faring well.  Tom Holland’s Lip Sync Battle shows exactly what we need in a male role model. Because of his performance, a space has opened up for the sort of man that’s familiar enough to be accepted by the more masculine people of the world, and is confident enough in himself to support the women around him. Hot on the heels of my fellow Tassie Tiger Grace Tame (@tamepunk), @dylanalcott was named 2022’s Australian of the Year. The unspeakably talented, erudite, passionate, funny, handsome man, should be who we look to when we hope for better men.
