In this AU, Alastor embraces modern technology to stay ahead of the game while Vox stays "vintage". They form a partnership to the point they are somewhat dependent on each other. They're still strong on their own but still, a terrifying duo when fighting together.
More about this AU:
Alastor's powers still use any form of radio frequency/wifi control, giving him access to any devices (both old & new). Using this ability to gain more info and sell it to any demon who fails to return a favor for him or Vox. Alastor still does his broadcasts of cannibal massacres, news/gossip, ASMR segments, music, and of course Vox's favorite cereal brand. Of course, there are drawbacks to being the radio demon and having deer features. Alastor would often get overstimulated by too much noise or information he was gathering. When that happens, Vox takes care of Al by giving him noise-canceling headphones and even mutes himself as they watch silent films together.
Meanwhile, Vox controls visual media/television, but depending on which television device he uses it tends to give him different abilities? Vox prefers the retro tv head because his power has some cartoon logic to it. Other sinners tend to underestimate his abilities, thinking he is the weakest of the duo. But in reality, Vox can transform into an electronic/ink-like monster that brainwashes people using tentacles like wires to connect their brains physically. He can upgrade his appearance but Vox likes taking advantage of any new sinners to trick them into signing a deal with him or Al since he looks "harmless.”
Their relationship can be seen like Jessica Rabbits & Mr. Rogers, in which Vox's appearance and mannerisms remind Alastor of simpler times. Despite the Radio Demon’s modern image, he still prefers old school, especially from the 1930s. If anyone insults Vox or tries to convince Alastor to ditch him, those demons end up in Alastor’s podcast describing in full detail what he is doing to them for all his listeners. While Vox transforms into a monster if anyone harms Alastor and makes sure to record it for his lover to watch later. He once made a vinyl record of Alastor’s worst enemies’ screams as an anniversary gift since Al is an audiophile.

I honestly can't remember if I've made this post already but I'll just do it again, since Czerny is a pretty popular musician there's most definitely Leithanians or classical music enjoyers in general in Rhodes Island that have to know he is. It'd be like rocking up to your local hospital and seeing Weird Al. I'd imagine a medical staff that's a fan of his casually checking up on him like "Your progress has been great! If you keep up with the medicine and treatment I'm sure it'll get better ^^" While also internally arguing on wether or not they should ask him to sign their vinyl records.

BIO
Jesse was born the younger brother of Jason Geller in Shreveport, Louisiana. He grew up admiring his brother, trying to emulate and follow his footsteps at every step as he grew up.
His academic record was nothing of note, but his scores on the ASVAB test had recruiters at his door, alongside his brother. He was a naturally good shot, excelling in trap shooting clubs in school and out-hunting even the most seasoned hunters in the area.
Jesse enlisted in the service as Jason did, and did his time overseas with two tours. When he got out after his brother, he joined him in creating the Red Claw Mercenary group as his second in command.
When Jeremiah Mitchell killed Jason, it was done in secret, and no one knew who committed the murder. Jesse had his suspicions that it was JJ, knowing that the latter did not tolerate their proclivity for taking missions from the Black Dragon.
Fun Facts
He once won a state trap shooting competition.
His .50 cal rifle is military issue, and is equipped with a BORS system.
He is very superstitious. He refuses to walk under ladders and has several routines he performs before big missions. He once saw a black cat cross the street in front of him and he canceled the contract.
He's an avid fisherman, and has a boat he takes out on the lake.
Has broken his nose 3 times. His right arm twice.
He continues to go by "Talon-2" despite his brother's (Talon-1) death.
Template once again borrowed from @bdfightclub thanks as always to @bihanspookies for enabling and encouraging me.

Okay folks I need help!
So I've posted about this twice now but I need some input. I finally got my pre-order of the HH S1 vinyl (it sounds amazing btw). I would love to get the casing signed at FanX on the 27th and thanks to the generosity of my friend I might actually be able to afford it. In attendance will be:
Amir Talai, Blake Roman, Krystina Alabado, Joel Perez, and Erika Henningsen.
On the one hand I thought about asking them to sign their character on the cover where applicable, but on the other I don't want their faces to be obscured? And Cherri, Val, and Vox aren't on the cover. Do I have everybody sign wherever they want? Do I ask them all to sign the sleeve? Do I ask everybody to sign inside the case?
I'm hoping to eventually collect all the big players from season one.

Today's Rabbit Hole Research:
I was trying to figure out who this musician I found a signed (!!) copy of their vinyl record at a thrift store down in Overland Park - his name was Doc Daughtery. So far, the only thing I know about Doc is that he was a local musician in Prue, OK, and that he plays country (evident by the album itself). But the far more interesting thing I found out, via the graphic design artist who did the cover art for the album - was that the album was produced by a man named "Al Clauser". Al Clauser is semi-famous for his band the Oklahoma Outlaws (I remember seeing some of their albums at the thrift store with the Doc stuff, so I suspect that the person who owned the Doc Daughtery album also owned the Oklahoma Outlaws stuff) as well as being "Uncle Zeke" on a Tulsa OK show, known as "Uncle Zeb's Cartoon Camp".
BUT THE FAR MORE INTERESTING THING ABOUT MR. CLAUSER IS THAT HE IS THE MAN WHO IS DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR RONALD REAGAN GOING TO HOLLYWOOD. From his Wikipedia page:
"WHO sportscaster Ronald Reagan asked Clauser if he could come along on the band bus, and Clauser said that would be fine. Reagan's first experience on a movie set was during the shooting of this film. In the 1970s and '80s, the office of Clauser's recording studio had an enormous photograph of Reagan with Reagan's thank-you note for his "start in the business" penned on it in ballpoint ink."
Fucking wild.

BIOGRAPHY --
.•°☆.⋆。⋆☆•˚。⋆。˚•☆˚。⋆.☆•°.⋆ sixteen candles (1984), dir. john hughes
Freya was nothing short of a surprise. Her parents, Diane and Paul, already had their hands full with Finn and Fletcher Knox. Having three under three was not going to be easy but Freya was here anyways.  She grew up on the shores of St. Pete Beach, spending her days running in the sand and jumping the waves. She'd flock after her brothers, organize her mother's store on the beach, and settle in her father's office as he taught classes. She'd remark that her childhood was pretty good. Her father loved her mother much like a romance movie. Kisses in the morning, flowers on his way home from work, dancing in the kitchen when they thought the kids went to bed. She compared them to a fairytale all the time. They taught Freya all she needed to know about love.
13 going on 30 (2004), dir. gary winick .•°☆.⋆。⋆☆•˚。⋆。˚•☆˚。⋆.☆•°.⋆
When Freya turned thirteen, her mother passed away in a car accident. It was quick, or at least that's what the police told her father when they showed up to their condo. It'd been raining, it was spring break, it was a red light. The words bled together, and the fabric that was there little family was ripped apart. She didn't remember what it was like to be completely honest. Her peaceful condo on the beach that she'd retreated to became dull, lifeless. Her father searched for his wife in every woman in town, Fletcher threw himself into his studies, and Finn threw himself into buying baggies on street corners. Freya threw herself into trying to keep her family together.
Her father paraded his girlfriends around their condo, but there was nothing like watching him smile at someone and realizing it was half the smile he used to give your mother. Freya called it the sort of heartbreak that the movies couldn't even begin to describe.
When she turned sixteen, her father met Johannah. She gave Freya her first job, and her first taste of the wedding planning industry. She was just as associate, helping Johannah out at the various wedding, and she fell in love with it. The love in the air, feeling the warmth and comfort, watching two people smile at eachother like they were the only two in the room. It reignited the idea that loved lived in every corner of the world, and she saw the sort of love her parents had when she looked hard enough.
.•°☆.⋆。⋆☆•˚。⋆。˚•☆˚。⋆.☆•°.⋆ 27 dresses (2008), dir. anne fletcher
When Freya was seventeen, Finn checked himself into rehab and Fletcher decided that his destiny led him outside of Florida. Johannah left shortly her father and Freya stayed behind to care for her dad. She worked her way up through Johannah's wedding planning business, eventually taking on the task of planning her own weddings and going to school nearby to get her degree in business. Finn bounced back and forth between rehab and home, and her father kept searching for his wife in flings.
She graduated from college, and continued to work for Johannah. She'd become a close confidant for Freya and was the first person to encourage Freya to leave, and find something new. Her mother would want that for her, Jo had pointed out. Jo had a friend in New York City who offered to hire Freya. And, well, Freya didn't want to be stuck in St. Petersburg forever so she told her father and her brothers when Fletcher was home for Christmas, and tried to ignore how fake her father's smile was at her.
Finn joked that the glue was moving. Freya wanted to be sick. Freya packed up her boxes, her cat Toad, and moved to New York City with promises to call often and to have her family visit her. all the best movies start this way, right?

"'Cause I'm losing what's left of my dignity, a small price I'll pay to see that you're happy. Forget all the disappointments you have faced, open up your worried world and let me in." 🚬

💥 - - - - - - - - - - - 💥 - - - - - - - - - - - 💥 - - - - - - - - - - - 💥
There's a buzzing stuck under Corin's skin, electric and charged. Somehow, he thinks while his blood rushes with glitter missiles, it never gets old to feel this whizzing rush after a performance. Sharp, tangy citrus clings to his hair - pomelo soda whose sparkling bubbles wet his hazel locks, excitement forces you to spill a whole juice can at the final vocal pitch of Puppy Love. Somehow, even though sour acid of tonic makes his eyes burn, he blinks evenly against the flashing spotlights. Mirth, sequins- there's leopard print beneath that makes his knees buckle, his nose twitch. Dressed in primary colors and geometric spangles, 'you look like a fruitloop' says a cocky voice, slight smokers rasp. For a hot minute he's in on a different stage, between nicotine, blueberry rum rinsed leather - standing like a gunslinger or gargoyle with razor lyrics.
More neon beams onto his sweaty face as he closes his eyes, simply bathing in whatever syrupy vapor decides to float his way. All sorts of gifts are thrown at him, flowers and clothing articles - the cheers of the crowd fade into a low hum, like fireflies or the static of a boombox. And he can't help but grin, alive and lungs full of candid fog that creeps put of the machine. Tounge stained with mandarin cough drops, Corin blows a playful kiss at his audience and waves. He smells the acetone of his neatly applied nail polish on his curled fist around the microphone. Lights drop like molten gold from the ceiling of the backdrop, cheap, popsicle wrapper tattoos line his arms - rhinestone stickers, he's pretty sure specks of a glowstick are jumbled with his freckles, like the briolette, kandi bracelets wrapped around his wrists.
"Thank you everyone, for coming tonight!" Corin shouts, beaming at the loud screaming he gets in return. A flamingo platform with a number - like watching surfing videos. Transparent ballyhoos hug and wrench him to remain longer, pleading for encores or just a little chat. It warms his heart that so many individuals love his gigs, how lionized and feted he felt upon stepping up that familiar vinyl. He skips down the steps, grinning softly when his managers and team shove a bottle of fresh water into his sweaty palms. He poured his soul into every single note, made sure to swallow melodies like cinnamon whiskey. There's a hand on his shoulder, a pat from his drummer and member compliments, air clinging heavy to tunes, reluctant to let them dwindle into oblivion. He peeks behind the curtains at the swaying sea of bodies still raw, full of energy, faces blurred into flushed cheeks and mascara striped tears. Corin snickers, perks his sticky lips, and dissappears behind the seashell curved amphitheater before his supervisors can even realize he's gone.
He has never snuck out as a teenager before, but Milo described the thrill of breaking patterns, busted knuckles, and scatterbrained limericks he wrote on license plates. He rummages through his messy suitcase and pulls out the patched, shearling aviator bomber. He steps over setlists, ginger ale cans, tinsel - nearly trips and breaks his nose. It feels tipsy to tip-toe across the dressing room, still high on cologne and adrenaline, helium miasma, sonic bubbles. He just needs to manage to slip past unseen, a little shadow in denim and disco, guided by nothing but the distant flicker of an exit sign.
💥 - - - - - - - - - - - 💥 - - - - - - - - - - - 💥 - - - - - - - - - - - 💥
It's rare their schedules mix, allign. Scuffed, road-worn converse tap along the cool pavement. He curses, pulls his jacket a bit tighter, and hisses through his teeth. Thankfully, Corin didn't have any unfortunate run-ins with fans that yanked at the chainlink fences behind the vents. He did see all the posters with out of pocket messages, camera clicks from paparazzi. Slowly, the moon winks at him behind the tattered clouds, twinkles of metal halides, traffic poles - he allows himself the freedom to pick up a penny. The spot they agreed to meet up at is not far away from his concert location, down the alley and up the main subway road. Tyres reek of blistering rubber, he hears them before he notices the black Trans Am pull up beside him - bronze firebird bastard.
He stops, crosses his arms, taps his foot impatiently. The driver of the old timer brings his vehicle to a low, gravelly bellow. Once he comes to a halt, rolling down his tinted window, the ebony haired male at the wheel lulls his head to the rim. "Get in." He instructs, scratchy, husky - eyes zipping to his rear view mirror. And he does, all too comfortable and familiar. The seats are cold, worn surfaces that have him scooting further inside until he settles snugly into the passanger spot. It smells of remote Septembers, tobacco, parrafin paint, and horror movie nights. All of a sudden, he is ten and in New Jersey, there's a boy with a bruise on his jaw and he is the only person who approaches the snaggle-toothed delinquent. Now he sits with the same man, looking at his inked limbs that he remembers patching up one too many times, gauze, bandaids.
"Did anyone see ya'?" And there's playfulness to the question, eager and bone crushing. He rolls his brown eyes, going to turn up the radio as Milo hurries up the roaring car. It swerves almost lazily. "I wouldn't be here if someone did, idiot." Corin flops his head against the rest and glances at his friend waggish, pure - of course the younger male refuses to give him the satisfaction of acknowledging his stare, drifting his icy orbs, illuminating diodes. There's no riposte, no jab or snarky comment. Even though he was fully expecting one back, it's surprisingly nice to bathe in silence that will never feel awkward. Jumping out of his skin, the spikes of the tallers cufflinks graze his bare knees through the rips, holes of his baggy jeans. A few creative vulgar phrases later and fidgeting with the glove box, he slams the compartment hard until it pops open. Puzzled, he observes the cluttered drawer, not bothering to catch the fallen zippo or dice keychain.
"Grab that shit for me, would ya'?" He doesn't get what first, but one tattooed finger points at a cardboard container. He reaches and takes it - Blockbuster Sparklers, he steals a bounty bar too. Comics, epipen and cellophane, altoid mints and cash. It's all so chaotic but neat at the same time, Corin scoffs at the british branded hinge-lid packs of burning cancer on top of a guitar chip pouch, Woodbine. "This?" He holds it up, dangling the white case to make sure he didn't mix it up with a cigarette receptacle. Milo nods curtly, abrubtly cutting a serrated corner to escape the bustling gridlock so they get out of the city hub faster. He shuffles a bit to regain his position and shoots an offended glare at the pale bassist. "Still can't believe you're legally allowed to drive." To prove the point, he veers his beloved vintage car more promptly down a busy boulevard.
"I will file a lawsuit, in case you forgot we're both kind of famous." Milo gives him a look, annoyed and snide. Corin huffs as he peels open his chocolate and bites a mouth full of creamy coconut. It's only ten minutes more until he parks by an abandoned warehouse, always the same, empty lot by the toyons, where the meter maids never check. It's impressive how well he knew the Los-Angeles streets, every lane, crescent. Ceasing their bickering for later, the lead vocalist and shredder both leave Milo's ride to tackle the vacant depot. Vandalized graffiti masonry, ivy shrouded walls that coil all the way up towards the flat roof. He fiddles with the keys and locks the car with a dramatic jingle, confident, arrogant even. Fishnet sleeves, biker jersey with random pins he most likely pocketed off of his devotees, Corin follows the flashy M sewed onto his lanky back - not being able to resist shoving him.
💥 - - - - - - - - - - - 💥 - - - - - - - - - - - 💥 - - - - - - - - - - - 💥
If there's one thing Corin never expected to do, it's to associate torrid smoke with home, to make his toes curl. It clings in the late night, summer breeze and roves, tangles with the scent of rotten heat. He takes a sip of his capri sun, plops a fourth haribo sour worm, and inches just a tad closer to the slates to watch all the town's flickering lustre. "Deneb is such a fuckin' diva." He hears Milo grumble, puffing out a cloud of toxins.
"Deneb?" He asks, chewing the pink and yellow gummy. His friend drones, taking a deep drag. He raises his pointer, chipped black. "That guy." Following his directions to see a cluster of stars that spiral like a bird, wings spread and twinkling. "A real show stopper." Apparently he was an astrologer too, not just a lavish strummer. Corin never payed attention to constellations much, nor did he openly research their names and shapes. This one however was exactly like Milo said, a peacock amongst the vast midnight blue. "Takes one to know one." He nudges his side light-heartedly, laughing, alive and full of holograms, singapore sling with too much pineapple. It glistens just as he gets a punch delivered to his shoulder, exactly with the clenched hand decorated in trash polka designs - some crimson, obsidian calligraphy and ravens.
"Shut the fuck up and hand me the firecrackers." He pops another candy into his mouth and hands him the dangerous toys. Milo rubs out his coffin nail onto the bricks, it sizzles and dissolves into a pile of rutilant ashes. Corin holds his one out and waits till the other lights it, gasoline and blaze, until it crackles wickedly against the thin skin of his hands like popping kerosene. He's twelve again, for the second time after his tiring show, in prep school - on the creaking laminate of their gym. A boy with a grumpy sneer, bleeding nose, another kid with granola bars and Alcott's novel clutched firmly. A few years later, those same fingers hold a bowl of leftover cheerios, fake IDs, switchblades and rosaries. But right now, even with all the hectic work their lifestyles include, it's just two people breathing something rich, voltaic.

Published Sept. 29, 2022Updated Sept. 30, 2022
It started in 1995 in a home in Los Angeles’ Hollywood Hills, where two roommates — a music producer and a D.J. — used to compete over who could find the best sample from their record collections.
One day, Paul Stewart, the D.J., conceded that his roommate, the producer Doug Rasheed, had bested him when Rasheed put on a vinyl copy of Stevie Wonder’s 1976 album “Songs in the Key of Life.”
The track that Rasheed played, “Pastime Paradise,” opened with a mournful synth loop that replicated the sound of a string section. The song that it inspired, “Gangsta’s Paradise,” would change both of their lives and catapult an up-and-coming West Coast rapper named Coolio to global stardom.
Coolio, born Artis Leon Ivey Jr., died on Wednesday in Los Angeles at age 59; the cause has not been disclosed. The rapper had a handful of hits before and after “Gangsta’s Paradise,” but nothing in his career would top the popularity and cultural influence of that track, which was featured in the 1995 movie “Dangerous Minds” and went on both to win a Grammy and inspire a Weird Al Yankovic parody.
In recent years, Coolio had commented on the legacy of the song and its long shadow over the rest of his career, calling it, in one interview, both a blessing and curse (“More of a blessing than a curse,” he noted).
“That record: It took him over the top,” Rasheed, the song’s composer and producer, said in an interview on Thursday. “It made him a household name worldwide.”
Coolio’s opening words, which are based on Psalm 23, became one of the most widely remembered verses in ’90s rap: “As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I take a look at my life and realize there’s nothin’ left.”
The singer L.V. (born Larry Sanders), who features on the song, had already started collaborating with Rasheed on the track, he said in an interview, when Coolio wrote those lyrics. Listening to the Wonder song in that Hollywood Hills home, it had been L.V.’s idea to turn “Pastime Paradise” into “Gangsta’s Paradise.”
L.V. recorded multiple vocal tracks that Rasheed combined to sound like a large choir singing a haunting refrain, as well as the chorus: “Been spending most their lives living in a gangsta’s paradise.”

The tale of how Coolio first heard the track differs depending on who is telling it. In L.V.’s version, L.V. brought the song, with his recorded vocals, to Coolio on a cassette tape, hoping to persuade him to collaborate on it after another rapper had turned him down. In Coolio’s account, according to a Rolling Stone oral history of the song from 2015, the rapper was visiting the Hollywood Hills home to pick up a check from Stewart, who was his manager, when he heard the track.
“I walked into the studio, and asked Doug, ‘Wow, whose track is that?’” Coolio told Rolling Stone. “Doug said, ‘Oh, it’s something I’m working on.’ I said, ‘Well, it’s mine!’”
Coolio recalled writing his verses in one session, rapping about chasing his dreams and the uncertainty of whether he would live to 24 years old. (He was in his early 30s at the time, but 24 rhymed better, he said in a 2015 radio interview.)
The reinterpreted song still needed to get a green light from Wonder’s camp. But, Rasheed recalled, Wonder was turned off by the profanity and violence expressed in the lyrics. The producer asked Coolio for a rewrite, and the rapper agreed. The other catch: Wonder’s music publishing company would receive three-quarters of the publishing proceeds.
“The terms were a little harsh, but without them approving it there’s no hit,” Stewart, who managed both Coolio and L.V. at the time, said in an interview on Thursday.
Stewart shopped the song around and found a very interested party in MCA Records, which was producing the soundtrack for “Dangerous Minds,” starring Michelle Pfeiffer as a former Marine who becomes a teacher at an underfunded Bay Area high school. (The movie received mixed reviews, with The Los Angeles Times film critic Kenneth Turan calling it “stereotypical, predictable and simplified to the point of meaninglessness.”)
The music video, directed by Antoine Fuqua and featuring a severe-looking Pfeiffer staring down Coolio, initially received a pass from MTV, Stewart recalled, until MCA arranged to advertise the video on the channel, generating interest from viewers.
MTV picked it up, and “it was the most phenomenal takeoff of a record that I’ve ever seen,” Stewart said. “Gangsta’s Paradise” spent three weeks atop Billboard’s Hot 100 and was named the chart’s No. 1 song at the end of the year. It won the Grammy for best rap solo performance in 1996.
Then came Weird Al.
The musical parody artist and his team approached Coolio to get his blessing to make their own version of the song — “Amish Paradise” — Rasheed said, but the rapper refused. Knowing that legally speaking, Weird Al didn’t need their green light, Rasheed gave them his approval, despite Coolio’s skepticism.
“I think he just didn’t want to be made light of,” Rasheed said. To Coolio, his collaborators explained, “Gangsta’s Paradise” spoke to the real hardships and fears around street life in a way that seemed to resonate with people from different walks of life.
“A lot of people say it saved them from whatever demons they were dealing with, that they listened to the song and it helped them carry on,” Coolio said in the Rolling Stone oral history.
The “Amish Paradise” music video from 1996 opened with Yankovic in a broad-brimmed hat and a thick beard rapping, “As I walk through the valley where I harvest my grain.” In place of Coolio’s references to being “raised by the state” and finding protection in “the hood team,” Yankovic rapped about “milkin’ cows” and partying “like it’s 1699.”
Rasheed said that over time, he saw Coolio soften to the parody, viewing it as more homage than mockery. And in later interviews, the rapper said that he had changed his perspective on Yankovic’s song.
“I let that go so long ago,” Coolio told Vice in 2014. “Let me say this: I apologized to Weird Al a long time ago and I was wrong.” He added, “I listened to it a couple years after that and it’s actually funny,” adding an expletive.
In an interview with Newsweek a few months later, Yankovic said he was relieved. “I’m not the kind of guy that has beef with people, because I go out of my way to make sure that people are fine with what I do,” he said. “That was the one little moment in my whole history where there was a problem,” he noted, saying it was “very sweet” of Coolio to have told Vice he had made amends.
While “Amish Paradise” gave Coolio’s song a boost, the track was a smash on its own. L.V. remembered Coolio and his crew touring the world — Japan, France, Australia — and feeling like they were drawing “Michael Jackson-level” crowds that recited the lyrics along with them. Earlier this year, Coolio celebrated the song reaching a billion streams on YouTube.
“He put some magic on that track,” Rasheed said. “His voice, his delivery his cadence — it was something really special.”

Top Signs It's Time to Replace Your Windows
Tumblr media
Windows play a crucial role in your home’s comfort, energy efficiency, and overall aesthetic appeal. However, like any other component of your house, they have a lifespan and will eventually need replacing. Knowing when to replace your windows can save you money on energy bills, improve your home's value, and enhance your living environment. Here are the top signs it's time to replace your windows.
1. Drafts and Air Leaks
One of the most noticeable signs that your windows need window installation Birmingham, AL is the presence of drafts.
Feeling Drafts: If you can feel cold air coming in through your windows, even when they are closed, it indicates that the seals are worn or damaged.
Increased Energy Bills: Drafty windows can lead to higher heating and cooling costs, as your HVAC system has to work harder to maintain a comfortable temperature. If your energy bills have increased significantly, it may be time for new windows.
2. Difficulty Operating Windows
If your windows are hard to open, close, or lock, it may be a sign they need replacement.
Sticking or Cracking: Windows that stick or are difficult to operate can indicate warping or deterioration of the frame or sash.
Broken Hardware: Damaged locks, hinges, or other operating mechanisms can compromise the security of your home. If repairs are frequent or ineffective, replacing the windows might be the best solution.
3. Condensation and Moisture Buildup
Excessive moisture on your windows is a clear indicator that they may need window installation Birmingham, AL.
Condensation Between Panes: If you notice condensation or fogging between the glass panes of double- or triple-pane windows, the seal has likely failed. This can lead to reduced energy efficiency and require full replacement.
Mold Growth: Moisture accumulation can lead to mold and mildew, which can be harmful to your health. If you see signs of mold around your windows, it’s time to consider replacement.
4. Visible Damage or Deterioration
Physical damage to your windows can compromise their performance and aesthetic appeal.
Rotting Frames: Wooden frames that show signs of rot, decay, or warping indicate that they need to be replaced. This can lead to structural issues if not addressed promptly.
Cracks and Chips: If you notice cracks or chips in the glass, it may be time to replace the window. Damage not only affects the window’s appearance but can also reduce its energy efficiency.
5. Increased Noise Pollution
If your home has become noisier, your windows may be the culprit.
Loud Noises: If outside noise seems more intrusive, it could indicate that your windows are not effectively blocking sound. Old, single-pane windows often lack adequate insulation against sound.
Soundproofing Needs: If you live in a busy area and find that your windows aren’t providing the quiet you desire, upgrading to modern, energy-efficient windows can help reduce noise.
6. Outdated Style and Aesthetics
Your windows should complement your home’s architecture and style.
Curb Appeal: If your windows look outdated or don’t match your home’s current style, replacing them can enhance your home’s curb appeal.
Interior Design: Upgrading your windows can also improve the interior look of your home. New windows come in a variety of styles and colors that can better suit your design preferences.
7. Higher Maintenance Costs
If you find yourself spending more time and money on window maintenance, it might be time for an upgrade.
Frequent Repairs: Constantly repairing old windows can become costly. If you're investing more in repairs than you would in new windows, it’s time to consider window installation Birmingham, AL.
Painting and Sealing: Wooden windows often require regular painting and sealing. If the upkeep is becoming burdensome, modern materials like vinyl or fiberglass may be a better option.
8. Poor Energy Efficiency
Older windows are often less efficient than modern options.
Energy Ratings: If your windows lack modern energy-efficient features, such as Low-E coatings or argon gas fills, they may not be keeping your home as comfortable as they should.
Age of Windows: If your windows are more than 15-20 years old, they may not meet current energy efficiency standards. Replacing them with modern, energy-efficient windows can significantly lower your energy costs.
9. Visible Signs of Warping or Bowing
Warped or bowed windows are not just an aesthetic issue; they can also impact performance.
Frame Distortion: If you notice that your window frames are no longer square or if the sashes are misaligned, this could indicate structural issues that warrant replacement.
Unstable Glass: Warping can cause the glass to be unstable, leading to potential breakage or reduced security.
10. Selling Your Home
If you’re planning to sell your home, replacing your windows can be a wise investment.
Increased Home Value: New windows can enhance your home’s resale value and attract potential buyers who are looking for energy-efficient features.
Curb Appeal: First impressions matter. New windows can significantly improve your home’s curb appeal, making it more appealing to prospective buyers.
Conclusion
Recognizing the signs that it’s time to replace your windows can save you money on energy bills, improve your home’s comfort, and enhance its overall value. If you identify any of these signs, it’s worth consulting with a professional to evaluate your options.
Brands like Vinyl Window Solutions offer a variety of modern, energy-efficient window styles that can meet the needs of any homeowner. By staying proactive and addressing window issues promptly, you can ensure that your home remains a comfortable and inviting space for years to come.

All I Need is a Pint a Day (Reprise)
Today is January 32nd (Feb 1) 2024.  As I was putting together this final post of 2024, I noticed that the 50th anniversary edition of Sir Paul McCartney’s Band on the Run will be available tomorrow Feb 2.  (It’s already Jan 33rd in Liverpool.)  The album is offered in vinyl and CD formats to suit your taste.
Tumblr media
Speaking of different formats to suit your taste, I finally hit the jackpot, or caskpot if you will.  I made it to the Town Hall Tap on the last day of January and had two cask beers – Kevin’s Ale, a mild EPA and Masala Mama, an American IPA – both cask conditioned.  They were also serving a non-cask Masala Mama…..Why?  Well, I guess it’s different strokes for different folks.
Tumblr media
Some folks wear their glasses on the tops of their heads.  I don’t. Different strokes for different folks.
Some folks are either not fans of cask conditioned beer, or just are not aware of it, and others, like me are suckers for the creamy goodness of a pint of fresh cask ale. And so on and so on and scooby-dooby-dooby. We got to live together.
The Kevin’s ale didn’t even make it on the signature beers sign, unless it was the cask version of the West Bank Pale Ale, but it was the superior offering; as close to Real Ale as ‘Damn’ is to swearing.
The only other place to get cask conditioned beer in the Twin Cities appears to be at the affiliated Town Hall Brewery in the 7-Corners area of the West Bank.  I commented to the bartender about this conundrum, and he agreed.  He said that he had worked at Brit’s Pub and people asked him all the time about why there was no cask beer there.  He said you need a separate refrigerated area and special equipment but that it was not that big of an investment to make.  Town Hall doesn’t even advertise itself as a British Pub, yet they have the goods, while Brit’s, The Local, Eagan Arms, etc. offer only a narrow selection of British beers, and none on cask.
Cheers to you Town Hall!  I know where I will be going for my “pint a day” from now on.
