Peacocks of Sri Lanka
If you are on a safari in any national park in Sri Lanka, you will hear the distinctive rustling sound almost like a drumroll all over the park that is created by the peacocks. These birds have many different sounds that they can make, which makes them unique among other animals on earth.

6 hour Road Trip | Colombo to Thanthirimale | Mannar - Trinco trip | #srilanka | Day 1 | #road #trip
Hello, Welcome to Life With Us
Last December, we traveled to Mannar and Trincomalee in Sri Lanka. It was a three days trip. We selected the 24,25 and 26 of December 2022 for our journey since it's Christmas eve.
We packed everything that we needed for our journey. The next day, the day of our trip, we left Colombo around 4 a.m. since we had to drive nearly six hours to reach our first destination, Thanthirimale. On our way to Thanthirimale first, we stopped at a restaurant after almost a two-hour drive from home since we felt hungry. Because we hadn't anything yet and since it was a rainy day. After having something, Again we started our journey. It was a beautiful feeling since we were driving in the rain. We saw paddy fields, mountains, and beautiful scenery through the water drops of the window of our car. While driving in the Puttalam district, fortunately, the rain went away. Then we stopped by a tank to have our breakfast. We brought sandwiches, cake, and coffee for the morning. It was a beautiful tank covered by the morning mist. Oh. What a scene! After having breakfast, we started our journey again. Tantirimale, located in Anuradapura district. It is an ancient temple. There is a lovely story back there. I'll tell that story in my next blog. Finally, after a six-hour drive from home, we reached our first destination, Tantirimale temple.
In our next blog, we share our experience of the Tantirimale temple.

Sri Lankans in Dubai: How to Apply for a Visa Hassle-Free
Tumblr media
Dubai, with its gleaming skyscrapers, golden sand dunes, and a rich blend of tradition and modernity, has become one of the most sought-after destinations for travelers worldwide. For Sri Lankans, Dubai represents more than just a travel destination. It’s a gateway to business, tourism, employment, and cultural exchange. As the city evolves into a global hub, the number of Sri Lankans looking to visit or work in Dubai continues to rise. However, before embarking on this journey, obtaining a visa is an essential step.
In this blog, we will break down the process of applying for a dubai visa from sri lanka, making it as hassle-free as possible. Whether you're planning a vacation, attending a business meeting, or seeking employment, this guide covers all the necessary steps, requirements, and tips to ensure a smooth application process.
1. Types of Dubai Visas Available for Sri Lankans
Before diving into the application process, it’s important to identify which visa type best suits your purpose. Dubai offers several visa options depending on the duration of stay and purpose:
Tourist Visa: Ideal for Sri Lankans who wish to visit Dubai for leisure or tourism. This visa is usually available for 30 days or 90 days, with single and multiple-entry options.
Transit Visa: If Dubai is a stopover in your journey to another destination, a transit visa may be required. This visa is available for 48 or 96 hours.
Work Visa: If you’ve secured employment in Dubai, you’ll need a work visa, which is processed by your employer.
Business Visa: For Sri Lankans attending meetings, conferences, or looking to explore business opportunities, a business visa allows entry for specific purposes.
Student Visa: Those pursuing academic programs in Dubai universities need a student visa, typically arranged by the educational institution.
2. How to Apply for a Dubai Tourist Visa from Sri Lanka
The most common type of visa applied for by Sri Lankans is the tourist visa. The application process is straightforward but requires careful attention to detail. Below is a step-by-step guide for a hassle-free application:
Step 1: Choose Your Mode of Application
Sri Lankan citizens can apply for a Dubai tourist visa through different channels:
UAE Embassy: This is the traditional route, where you can directly apply at the UAE Embassy in Sri Lanka.
Online Applications: You can apply through the UAE government’s official visa portals or via authorized travel agencies.
Airlines: Major airlines like Emirates and FlyDubai often facilitate visa applications for their passengers. If you book a flight with them, you can opt to apply for a visa through their platform.
Step 2: Required Documents
Ensure that you have the following documents ready:
A valid Sri Lankan passport: The passport should be valid for at least six months from the intended date of entry into Dubai.
Passport-sized photographs: These should meet UAE visa specifications (typically a white background, neutral facial expression, and recent).
Flight booking: Proof of a confirmed return or onward flight booking.
Hotel reservation or accommodation details: Proof of where you will stay during your trip.
Financial proof: Some visa categories require evidence of financial stability, such as bank statements showing sufficient funds for the trip.
Step 3: Submitting the Application
Once you have all the required documents, you can submit your visa application online or through the relevant channel. If applying online, ensure that your documents are uploaded in the correct format (PDF or JPEG, as required). Always double-check the information to avoid delays or rejections.
Step 4: Paying the Visa Fee
Visa fees vary based on the type and duration of the visa. The fees for a Dubai tourist visa typically range from $90 to $330 (USD). Payment can be made online or at the visa processing center.
Step 5: Processing Time
The processing time for a Dubai tourist visa is usually 3 to 5 working days, but it can vary depending on the method of application. It’s advisable to apply well in advance of your intended travel date to avoid last-minute complications.
3. How to Apply for a Dubai Work Visa from Sri Lanka
If you’ve secured a job in Dubai, your employer will generally handle most of the work visa application process. Here’s a breakdown of the procedure:
Step 1: Receive the Job Offer
Before applying for a work visa, ensure you have a valid job offer from a Dubai-based employer.
Step 2: Submit Required Documents
Your employer will request the following documents from you to process the visa:
A copy of your Sri Lankan passport (valid for at least 6 months)
Passport-sized photographs
Educational and professional certificates (depending on the job, these may need to be attested by relevant authorities)
Health check report: A medical examination may be required to ensure you meet Dubai’s health standards for foreign workers.
Step 3: Processing the Employment Entry Permit
Your employer will apply for an employment entry permit on your behalf. Once issued, this permit allows you to enter Dubai and start working legally.
Step 4: Residence Visa and Emirates ID
Once in Dubai, your employer will assist you in obtaining a residence visa and an Emirates ID, which allows you to stay and work in the UAE for an extended period.
4. Tips for a Hassle-Free Dubai Visa Application
Applying for a Dubai visa doesn’t have to be stressful if you follow these tips:
Apply Early: Start your application process at least 2-3 weeks before your intended departure date to account for any unexpected delays.
Check for Updates: Visa policies may change, so regularly check the UAE embassy website or consult with authorized agents for updates.
Ensure Document Accuracy: Double-check all information on your application forms and documents to avoid discrepancies.
Consult an Expert: If you’re unsure about the process, it’s advisable to use a trusted travel agent or consultant who can guide you through the application process.
Track Your Application: Once submitted, most online visa applications allow you to track the status, so you’ll know when your visa is approved.
5. Common Pitfalls to Avoid
To ensure a smooth application, steer clear of these common mistakes:
Incomplete Documents: Missing documents or incorrect submissions can lead to delays or rejection.
Last-Minute Applications: Applying too close to your travel date leaves little room for unexpected issues.
Expired Passport: Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates.
Relying on Unauthorized Agencies: Only use authorized travel agents or online platforms to avoid fraud or scams.
Conclusion
Obtaining a Dubai visa for Sri Lankan citizens can be a smooth process if you’re well-prepared and follow the necessary steps. Whether you’re traveling for business, leisure, or work, understanding the visa requirements, gathering the right documents, and applying early can save you time and stress. Dubai is a vibrant and dynamic city, and with a hassle-free visa experience, your journey from Sri Lanka to this global metropolis can be seamless and enjoyable.

How Sustainability in Travel and Tourism is Shaping the Future
Tumblr media
In recent years, the concept of sustainability in travel and tourism has gained significant traction, influencing the way we approach our travel experiences and the impact they have on the environment. With increasing awareness about the need for responsible tourism, the industry is adapting to promote eco-friendly practices that benefit both travelers and destinations.
Sustainable travel is not just a trend but a necessary evolution. It encompasses various practices such as reducing carbon footprints, supporting local communities, and preserving natural habitats. Travelers are now more inclined to choose eco-friendly accommodations, participate in conservation efforts, and seek out cultural experiences that respect and uplift local traditions. This shift is leading to more meaningful and enriching travel experiences, where the emphasis is on quality rather than quantity.
Tourism operators are also stepping up to the challenge by integrating sustainable practices into their operations. From minimizing waste and conserving water to using renewable energy sources, these efforts are crucial in mitigating the adverse effects of tourism on the planet. Educational programs and awareness campaigns are being launched to inform both tourists and locals about the importance of sustainability in travel. By fostering a culture of respect and responsibility, the tourism industry can significantly contribute to global sustainability goals.
Moreover, technological advancements are playing a pivotal role in promoting sustainable tourism. Innovations such as carbon offset programs, sustainable travel apps, and eco-friendly transport options are making it easier for travelers to make informed and responsible choices. These tools not only enhance the travel experience but also ensure that it remains sustainable for future generations.
In conclusion, the future of travel and tourism lies in sustainability. By embracing eco-friendly practices and prioritizing responsible tourism, we can ensure that our adventures continue to enrich our lives and the world around us. As a leading advocate for sustainable travel, Jetwing Travels is committed to promoting and implementing practices that support a greener and more sustainable future for all.
