For March Lance voted to do some tree hugging and grass touching in a constantly busy world of trying to pass exams and earn money and they had a picnic for an entire day. Keith wholeheartedly agreed, but also felt like it’s way too cheesy. Still, Lance didn’t even have to win him over with sushi. Sushi was just a nice surprise. When Lance reports back to Hunk how his Saturday went using the phrase "dancing underneath the moonlight", Hunk opts out of the details. Lance tries to explain it’s not an euphemism, but Hunk just politely reminds him he can keep speaking just. No. Details. (he does that a lot when Lance starts gushing about Keith)

“What am I singing for you lovely folks tonight?”

Everyone starts screaming song titles before Lance jumps up, “ Circus !” Lotor looks down at Lance before seconding the song choice.

“Am I hearing Circus ?” Keith asks. When everyone agrees to the song the music kicks up from the circus. Whatever objections Keith might have are gone as he starts off the song, making dramatic and sensual motions with his body.

There's only two types of people in the world

The ones that entertain, and the ones that observe

Shiro whistles and Keith makes his way to him. He drops to his knees and the snake comes out of him. He runs his free hands up Shiro’s thigh and up his chest. His head mimicks the motions of a snake being charmed as he comes up.

Everyone’s whistling and cheering while Shiro eats up every second of it. Keith grabs the wire of the mic and holds it up like a whip, probably trying to not get it caught on the coffee table as he makes his way to the couch but no one would be none the wiser. He makes his way over to Matt, his favorite homoerotic stage duo.

When I put on a show

I feel the adrenaline moving through my veins

Spotlight on me and I'm ready to break

I'm like a performer, the dance floor is my stage

Rachel moves out of Matt’s lap to give them space, and Keith winks a thank you. He then straddles Matt’s lap and Matt holds his hips in place while Keith bends backwards so his head hangs off the couch as he sings. Lance turns to the collection of empty cups and beer cans that now littered the coffee table. He’s just going to assume a handful of the trash belongs to Keith because there is no way he’d be doing this otherwise.

Lotor leans down and presses his back to Lance to whisper, “I’ve counted 2 drinks and 4 shots.”

Lance looks backward and nods, “No, definitely 5 or 6.” He whispers before turning his attention to his roommate.

When I crack that whip everybody gon' trip just like a circus

Keith whips the mic’s wire before twirling it into Hunk’s space. Hunk pretends to cover his eyes while turning to Shay and giving a thumbs-up. Keith gives his back to Hunk before bending backward to look Hunk in the eye as he sings. Keith is flexible, noted.

Don't stand there watching me, follow me, show me what you can do

Everybody let go, we can make a dance floor just like a circus

Keith makes his way to Veronica and Marco. Veronica pulls out a few singles, handing some to her brother. Keith sways his hips in front of the pair who slip the money into his waistband, going full magic mike.

There's only two types of guys out there

So, baby, I hope that you came prepared

I run a tight ship, so beware

As the second chorus begins, Keith makes his behind the couch to where Lotor and Lance had been watching. Lance stands up straight as everyone turns around to watch what happens next. Keith starts on Lotor who holds his drink up high to give Keith space. Lotor’s eyes go to Lance and shrugs before holding out a dollar Veronica had passed over to him.

Keith places a hand on Lotor’s chest and pushes him against the couch. practically growling the lyrics. He flips Lotor’s tie over his shoulder, and without breaking eye contact with Lotor, extends his hand to Lance.

Lance looks down at their hands. Was he being fought over by his roommate and one night stand?

Keith leans in dangerously close to Lance’s ear and pulls the mic away from them, “is it okay if I give you a dance?” He whispers before pulling away. Lance nods and takes his roommate's hand before being pulled towards the center of the room.

“Clear the fucking table!” Keith shouts into the mic. Shiro and Veronica rush to push off the cups and cans as Keith leads Lance to the center of the room. Lance plays along dancing as he’s brought to the center of the ring. Keith shoves Lance to sit on the table.

“Go, Lance!” He hears Rachel cheering. But Lance’s eyes are glued to Keith who’s eyes are hazed over and hungry. His hair is now a mess from whipping it around to the song.

Keith slips one leg between Lance’s and snakes his way in between. Lance's breath catches in his throat. Keith places his free hand on Lance’s shoulder and pushes him down so his back is on the table. It’s sticky from the cups and various liquor that has been spilled on it throughout the night. But that’s the least of his concerns

Spotlight on me and I'm ready to break

Keith brings one steel toe boot onto the table between Lance’s legs which makes him jump and get a laugh out of the group. Keith hops onto the table standing over Lance who while starstruck continues to play along. Dramatically fanning himself while looking at his friends. Veronica came prepared for this apparently as she was throwing money at them. Lance’s eyes go to Shiro, half expecting him to look ready to beat Lance to a pulp for being the lucky bastard getting Keith’s attention. But instead, Shiro is Keith’s biggest supporter, whooping and cheering him on. Either Shiro and Keith are seriously not getting back together or they have a very strange relationship.

Lance doesn’t have time to process as Keith is standing bent over him. He grabs Lance by his chin, tilting it so Lance looks up at him. He can’t help but feel flustered and a little guilty for enjoying the show as much as he is.

Keith drops to his knees straddling Lance’s laps as he pretends to ride him like a cowboy, even tipping an invisible hat towards their friends. Lance bites his lip to contain his reaction from the friction. Keith grabs Lance’s hands that cling awkwardly to his chest and hands him the mic, instructing him to keep it pointed to Keith. Lance does as he’s instructed.

Keith pulls his shirt off dramatically before tying his shirt around Lance's wrists. He’s too flustered to even realize what’s happening until Keith takes the mic back and he’s unable to pull his hands apart. In a swift motion, Keith pushes Lance’s wrists down over his head.

“Mama would die if she saw this!” He can hear Macro’s voice as it fades from his attention. His senses tunnel and focus on the shirtless, breathtaking man holding him down on the table. He’s surprised the coffee table could hold all their weight. He can feel his breathing get rapid as Keith leans over him, the only thing keeping their lips from crashing together is the microphone between them.

Keith sings the remaining of the song, but the lyrics become a cacophony of sounds as he watches his roommate move lower down his body, the bottom of the microphone dragging across his body. Keith acts out the motions of going down on Lance, using the microphone as a replacement but it’s enough to provide Lance a visual.

The only noises he can hear now are his rapid breaths as he tries to remember he’s in front of friends and family. Whose idea was this again? Oh yeah, his.

At the last chorus, Keith pulls Lance to sit by the shirt tied to his wrists. Keith dips head in his between Lance’s arms as he straddles him.

As the music fades, everyone is cheering and yelling. Keith slips out of Lance’s arms, pulling his shirt off where it was tied around Lance’s wrists. He then stands up before bowing to his friends and then turning to bow to Lance. He leaves the microphone in Lance’s lap before returning to Shiro’s side. He leans one arm off the other man’s shoulder before Shiro reaches up and gives Keith a quick kiss on the lips.

Yeah, Lance gives up on trying to figure those two out.

so, the formatting of this makes the instructions a little unclear, but i’ve chosen to interpret it (and provide answers) as follows:

1: fic with the most hits: Holding Your Own Weight (Teen Wolf, Sterek), at 44,615 hits. because of course it is, LOL. i have not reread this in years, i have no idea how it holds up, but it’s definitely the most popular thing i’ve ever written.

2: fic with the second most kudos: Well I Don’t Know Why I Came Here Tonight (Teen Wolf, Sterek), with 1,244 kudos. honestly, i’m not surprised it’s a TW fic (i may end up a little surprised if not all of these are TW fics, tbh, that fandom was and is so huge it skews all my results), but i am a bit surprised it’s this fic! this one’s from 2021, which was well after the TW heyday, so i was always surprised it got as much traction as it did.

3: fic with the third most comments: Like They Do In Babylon (Voltron, Sheith), with 91 comment threads. oh ho! a non-teen-wolf fic makes it onto the list!! (technically Holding Your Own Weight also has 91 comment threads, but we already used it, so whatever). this one’s interesting to me, because i felt like it really kinda flopped when i posted it if i’m honest? but i guess the people who did read it left comments on it, so that’s nice. i liked this one, i should write more dance AUs.

4: fic with the fourth most bookmarks: Well I Don’t Know Why I Came Here Tonight again, lol whoops. 248 bookmarks.

5: fic with the fifth most words: Spark, Flame, Burn (Teen Wolf, Sterek), but excitingly, this is my most diverse list yet - i’ve got four different fandoms represented in my five longest fics, so in this case it’s just coincidence that it’s a TW fic. and actually, once i finally finish my accursed post-posting edits, it’ll be Flowers in the Window (1D RPF) instead.

6: fic with the fewest words: Circulation, a very early Star Trek RPF fic, which is quite frankly terrible LOL idk what the hell i was doing. pour one out for zjo of 2010 who was just discovering the concept of fanfic, bless. 393 words.

Good answer to the space ghost villain question, you clearly know your stuff so my follow-up question is for your opinion on toonami

Even as someone who had a vague idea what this strange "Japanimation" was before it came along, I would have to say that Toonami was likely critical to Anime being normalized here in the States.

While initially it was essentially an afternoon action animation block, with Thundercats, the Real Adventures of Jonny Quest, and Voltron amongst some Space Ghost and Herculoids. Then a couple years IN 1998 down the road they started airing the Macross portion of Robotech. As an aside, I still say the missed a trick by not bringing on Saber Rider.

1998 would a catalyzing year for Toonami when it went from running old shows to what was new content for many people in the United States. 1998 would see them airing Ronin Warriors and Dragonball Z. Some of these had some of their episodes aired on other networks but none seemed to have had as wide as a viewer base as Cartoon Network. These did so well that DBZ ended with new episodes getting dubbed into English, which gave us the whole "Still On Namek" phenomenon, and Toonami would in turn expand it's Anime content with Outlaw Star, Tenchi Muyo, Gundam Wing, and so on.

I think it's not off base to say that the proper Anime boom would have been either delayed and non-existent if not for Toonami.

Although, I would also point out the broadening access to the internet that was happening concurrently was probably more instrumental in than Toonami. I found out about UC Gundam and all of that AU type stuff when trying to find out more about Gundam Wing mobile suits and stumbled first upon a Gundam Hamster Dance parody and then the old Mark Simmons and Keith Rhee Gundam Project fansite.
