𝐏𝐀𝐈𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆: pdh katelyn & fem!reader, ft. kate’s family

𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐘: your best friend is also the captain of the phoenix drop volleyball team. after another victory for your season, you and katelyn decide to celebrate by junking out on fast food and sleeping over at her house.

𝐀/𝐍: hi!!! i’m so so sorry i took so long to fulfill your request, it was a really good one!! it just took me a while to come up with some inspiration for it, and i didn’t want to half ass it :’) thanks for being patient and i hope you like it

𝐌𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐓

“mine!” katelyn calls, running up to the net and spiking the ball back down into the other team’s side.

there was a loud slam as the ball violently met the floor, scoring phoenix drop another point. the close and frustrating game was nearing the end of the fifth set, leaving everyone on your team exhausted and annoyed.

“good hit,” you pat her back a few times, “keep it up, just one more point.”

she nods briefly with teeth clenched as she gives you a hard clasp to the shoulder back, the force nearly tumbling you over.

the next rally ends just the same, as your teammate sets up the ball and you and katelyn run up to the net, faking out the other team.

“that’s yours, kate.” you tell her, just loud enough for her to hear.

step, step step, the both of you jump, but only katelyn makes contact with the ball as you both slam your hands down. the ball cracks down just on the line, scoring the final point of the game.

“yes!” you cheer, turning and high fiving your blue-haired teammate.

she turns to you with a lazy triumphant smile, wrapping her arms around you as your teammates pile on. their cheers make your eardrums ring as you feel exhaustion begin to overcome your adrenaline.

after acknowledging a good game to the other team, who roughly returned your high fives with silent glares, your team leaves behind the cheering crowd in the bleachers to the locker room.

“good job ladies! no early morning practice on monday, get some good rest this weekend!” your coach shouts through the door, before leaving to take care of other matters.

katelyn exhaustedly groans, hoisting herself up on one of the benches and gathering the girls’ attention before they turned away.

“good job guys. we were all super tired and annoyed tonight, but we still pulled through. just two more games and we’ll be in playoffs,” she claps twice, the team returning the gesture with a whooping cheer before branching off and quietly murmuring their own conversations to themselves. 

she plops down next to you, sighing and leaning forward to rest her elbows on her knees. her powdery blue hair was falling out of the confines of her ponytail, some strands sticking to her sweaty skin.

the two of you start taking off your equipment, unbracing your ankles and sliding your soaked knee pads off your legs. katelyn wrinkles her nose and grimaces, before cautiously bringing the cushion to her nose and lightly sniffing. she makes a gagging noise, throwing the material down into her gym bag

“time to wash those. they smell rancid.”

“i’m not sure what made you think they wouldn’t,” you laugh, sliding off your tight jersey for a loose school t-shirt.

she rolls her eyes as she does the same, sighing and groaning as she slings her bag over her shoulder.

“whatever,” she lightly shoved your leg with hers, before glancing down at her phone. “you’re still coming over tonight?”

“yeah, if that’s okay.”

she snorts at your confirmation, even thought you’ve sleepovers with each other pretty much every other weekend.

“hurry, dad and kacey are waiting on us and i’m hungry.”

you nod, quickly gathering your things and following her out of the stuffy girls locker room. stepping down from the bleachers you spot garroth, vylad, and teony who were the only friends who were able to make it tonight.

teony is the first one to make it to the two of you, smiling brightly and giggling as she hyperly pumps her fists in the air.

“you two were amazing out there! i’m so proud of you!!”

“yeah, you two are a power duo on the court,” garroth throws his arms over both of your shoulders, hugging you two tight. “good job, ladies.”

“i would’ve been scared if i was on the other team,” vylad playfully adds on, giving you a fist bump.

“thanks you guys, but it was actually all me,” katelyn says with over exaggerated confidence.

you gasp in a scandalized and offended manner, clutching your hand over your chest.

“excuse you! that is so not true.”

her mischievous giggles ring out as she doubles over, highly amused by her own joke.

“i’ll see you guys! don’t stay up too late, we have exams next week,” teony waves, making her way to the gym doors. “speaking of which, i need to study.”

“there goes the academic weapon,” garroth laughs before grasping onto his little brother’s shoulder and guiding him towards the exit as well. “mom’s waiting on us, so we’re gonna go, too.”

“goodnight!” vylad waves, leaving you and katelyn to wander out by yourselves.

you spot her dad’s car easily and the two of you clamber in the back. kacey cheekily looks back at katelyn from the passenger seat, to which she only reaches forward to pinch his cheek.

“you can have shotgun this time, you dork.”

he wrinkles his nose and swats his hand away, whining under his breath at her teasing. eric turns in his seat, voice still booming despite the late hour.

“i am so proud of you two! you were great out there! despite your teammates.” he mutters the last part, clearing his throat when katelyn gives him a look.

“dad. true, but still.”

he laughs before making his way out of the parking lot, turning down the street towards the center of phoenix drop.

“well, what do you two want to eat? winners choice.”

kacey turns to look at you, cupping his hands over his face and mouthing the words “kfc” with an expectant expression on his face.

“mmm, kfc does sound good right now.”

“kacey, we get kfc every time we go out!”

“it’s good, katelyn!”

she groans, leaning back in her seat.

“yeah, it is.” she concedes with a stubborn tone.

“okay, kfc it is!” eric happily announces, not even flinching at the three of you squabbling.

the food bag crinkles as you crumple down onto katelyn’s carpet. she follows behind you, sliding her laptop off her bed and on the floor in front of you.

she quickly opens netflix when her one direction screensaver pops up, narrowing her eyes at you in a dare for you to say anything. you merely snicker in response, any thoughts of teasing her leaving as she pulls up the pilot episode of once upon a time.

“ugh, love this show.” you say, pulling out your order from the bag and beginning to munch on your meal.

“i know right.” she smiles.

after you two finish your meals and take your turns showering, you’re soon passed out snugly under her covers. her laptop quietly plays the third episode as you lightly snore on her shoulder. her cheek rests on the top of your head, and the flickering of the soft screen light flickers on your closed eyelids.

i think i know who ken is but ill admit i dont know a lot about his character, but just judging off of his look and lovely little man kacey it’s absolutely amazing. vylad and blaze oddly fits kind of well considering i think vylad is a hippie and blaze is a somewhat hippie. also its just a cool pairing. and nana and kai is something little eleven year old me thought of since yk they’re both meif’wa but i still kind of love it. i love you and your little ships i love ships and you, dr.

Vylad x Kacey is a very wholesome ship to me,
