I think I've already said this once before but I really wish there was a feature in Wizard101 where important events, lore, and dialogue in the game were documented somewhere so we can view them whenever we want. like unless we video record the events while it happens, take pictures, or just go through the whole entire fucking plot with another wizard character there's no way to ever revisit those moments and that SUCKS??????? like wizard101 has some of the best lore ive ever seen and I don't wanna have to level up my wizard all the way to level 100 just to see that iconic grandfather spider scene or grind through azteca just to find that one epic fourth wall breaking moment 💀 i want to revisit all the incredible and funny and weird shit we've all gone through Immediately. Like damn remodel the library so that it actually keeps records and dated films of the things we've gone through so it can actually be useful instead of it being Just A Building (rants about this for so long that even Jesus smacks His lips)

Explain Like I'm 5: Grandfather Spider's Plans in Khrysalis and Mirage

Even though I love analyzing plans and chess masters in fiction, I find myself confused about what happened during Spider's interactions with Morganthe, the Arachna, and Scorpion. And thus, I'm confused about what exactly Spider was planning in Khrysalis and Mirage.

Could anyone please explain this to me?

(Abridged) Story: Born into a prominent Dragonspyrian family about three years before the summoning of the Dragon Titan. Her mother, Esmé, was visited by Grandmother Raven prior to her birth to alert her that her baby was uniquely powerful, though she provided little further information. As her last act of love for her daughter and the Spiral during the day of Dragonspyre's fall, Esmé threw the young Amber onto a Drake and sent the creature to Wizard City. She was found by Ambrose, who oversaw her upbringing via a series of foster homes until she was old enough to enroll in Ravenwood at age 15. Amber showed prowess in Necromancy prior to beginning her studies, and met with Professor Malistaire once prior to his exit, where he noted her skill. She excelled in her studies while faltering socially and quickly became Ambrose's errand-runner when other Ravenwood students failed to pacify the Wizard City streets. This is where she first learned to be a hero and abide by orders- and the rest is history.

She takes no pride in killing Malistaire, and being deemed a hero for doing so causes her deep ailing. Still, she takes solace in the knowledge that she has saved people and reconnected with her home world. When Morganthe appears as a threat, she and boyfriend (fellow Ravenwood student and Master Diviner) Ethan begin to quest together across the second arc to stop her. Being outsmarted in Azteca devastates her, and Ethan dies during the fall of Xibalba while attempting to evacuate citizens, rendering her useless with grief while the Council of Light dreams up a way to Khrysalis. She goes to Khrysalis with one goal- killing Morganthe, but its denizens (particularly Dyvim) teach her how to begin to love and reconnect with others again as she quests through the world.

The introduction to the Arcanum is good for Amber, a scholar at heart. Still, the growing rift between she and her Ravenwood mentors becomes clearer here, and she graduates to a new state of independence as the pedestal she's put Grandmother Raven on begins to crumble. Like with Dyvim, her relationships with Mellori, Bat, and more begin to save her- even as they start out rocky. She leaves Arc 3 not only as the Divine Paradox, but as a person wondering about who she is, what she wants, and if she'll ever be able to achieve it, as the Spiral will always need a savior- and she will always be that savior.

School(s) of Magic: Master Sorcerer/Myth Wizard, learning Shadowmancy. Occupation: The Savior of the Spiral, Azure Shining One of Song, Scion of Bartleby, Divine Paradox... Whirlyburly MVP, future unknown. Wand of Choice: Red licorice whip.

(Abridged) Story: Born in Marleybone to Mirage native Kareem Duskblood and his wife, Empyrean socialite Beatrice, Genevieve was raised as a proper young lady in the upper-crust social scene rather than a wizard. This all changed on the eve of her 13th birthday when the Duskbloods were visited by Merle Ambrose, headmaster of Ravenwood, who came bearing the news that he'd scried on his crystal ball that Genevieve was the fated Savior of the Spiral who possessed great magical ability. This excited her parents to no end, and they eagerly shipped her off to Wizard City. The spoiled Genevieve, however, wasn't as pleased- and tried everything to get sent home after being put in the Myth school. Despite her unwillingness to be there and her clashing with classmates, Genevieve proved to be uniquely talented when dropped onto the Wizard City streets and forced to act. To make sure she stayed true to her mission of tracking down Malistaire, she was paired with fellow classmate Nora Weaver, a Necromancer, for questing.

Nora and Genevieve butted heads all throughout the start of their mission, but reached an understanding after defeating Malistaire when Genevieve was unable to deliver the final blow. This experience forced her to go off to Wintertusk, alone, for some solitude and soul searching, where she meets Grandmother Raven and embraces a less posh side of herself. Upon landing in Celestia, she becomes deeply disillusioned with the Marlebonian fleet's operations, and begins to further work through her trauma associated with her home/upbringing. This ends up coinciding with the fall of Azteca, after which Genevieve once again attempts to quit, to no avail. When the girls discover Shadow magic in Khrysalis, Genevieve begins to behave more erratically/impulsively, fully shedding her proper upbringing and embracing her love of fighting. She gleefully slays Morganthe.

Upon learning she has been tricked by Grandfather Spider, Genevieve fully embraces her role as the Spiral's hero despite rising negative opinion of her throughout it due to her brashness and bloodlust. Visiting Mirage for the first time is deeply formative for her, as she is able to embrace her lineage in a way thoroughly frowned upon in Marleybone, growing into more of a wildcard (and much happier, much freer) along the way. She feels similarly at home in parts of Empyrea, and takes great pleasure in eventually becoming the Divine Paradox, demanding more respect from the Council of Light and the Arcanum in the process. At the end of this arc, she begins seeing the Bat, one of the few people able to earn her respect and her softer side.

FINALLY found the time to finish my memorial illustration for Dell Aldrich over the holidays. For those who might not know, she voiced the Narrator and Grandmother Raven in Wizard101, but sadly passed away in October of 2022. I really wanted this piece to capture those two roles, and how the nature of her voice helped portray this whimsical nature that makes Wizard101 so unique. 

I haven’t done a completely rendered illustration with multiple characters and a background in... years lol. But I'm actually really happy with how this turned out, despite how long it looks me to complete :’D I hope you all enjoy.
