Minnesota is redesigning its flag, and one of the finalists rubbed me the wrong way. My very first thought was that it looked like a toothpaste logo, and my immediate next thought was that it looked like a bank that went defunct in 2005.
Tumblr media
Well what do you know, Wachovia went defunct in 2008!
Tumblr media
This was completely subconscious, I had no idea what that logo looked like, I just googled the name after the fact because it's the only defunct bank I could recall off the top of my head (my hometown Wells Fargo used to be a Wachovia)

Peering through the windows of the old Wachovia Bank building at the corner of East 3rd Street and North Main Street in downtown Winston-Salem. It definitely needs a lot of work, but it also has a lot of potential. #wachoviabank #wachovia #winstonsalemhistory #winstonsalem #deserve2preserve (at Winston-Salem, North Carolina) https://www.instagram.com/p/CjjlHloABqG/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

This can save time/money, if you are abroad and your card is compromised. The issuer will accept the charges if you are calling from abroad. If you travel abroad, you may want to call your card issuer and ask for a number where you can call them collect. Having these #'s in a file can help you in the event your card becomes compromised. This is generally the lost/stolen department and most of the larger banks are open 24/7/365 for lost/stolen reporting. NEVER give your PIN to anyone, it can come back to get you, especially now that cardless PIN-based transactions are widely becoming more popular.įWIW, you may want to record the numbers on the back of each of your credit cards. Although, in the case of PIN-based ATM fraud, you generally must notify within 2 days, or your liability increases exponentially. "timely fashion is generally no later than 60 days from the date the first statement was sent that contained fraudulent charges". It matters only how the transactions were processed and how quickly you notified the institution. It has nothing to do with the # of times this happened to you. Limits a consumer's liability for unauthorized electronic fund transfers, such as those arising from loss or theft of an access device, to $50 if the consumer fails to notify the depository institution in a timely fashion, the amount may be $500 or unlimited. Section 205.6 Liability of consumer for unauthorized transfers It worked out ok for me this time, but get victimized twice and I bet it's a whole 'nother story.Įlectronic Funds Transfer Act, aka Federal Bank Regulation E This tells me that they can at any point say its my fault for any number of reasons such as using my card on the internet etc. It has a notation that your refund was less any personal liability I may have in the process of the fraud (as provided by the electronic fund transfer act). Some of the verbiage in the conclusion letter they send is sort of disconcerting.

Your Black World http://bit.ly/1dwTN6Q
It is no secret that slavery rests at the foundation of American capitalism and is often synonymous with the sugar, tobacco, and/or cotton plantations that fueled the Southern economy.  What many may not know is that slavery also rests at the foundation of many notable corporations.  From New York Life to Bank of America, several companies have benefitted from slavery.  Many of the companies even acknowledged their involvement in slavery and offered apologies in an attempt to reconcile their tainted history but, is an apology enough?
History has consistently shown that slavery has diminished the quality of life for African Americans and simultaneously enhanced the quality of life for White Americans.  From institutionalized racism to blocked social and economic opportunities, African Americans are often excluded of African Americans.
Apologies cannot compensate an entire race of people for all of the social and economic ills they face as a result of their enslavement. They cannot address the residual effects of slavery.  They cannot provide job opportunities to a race of people who are experiencing high unemployment rates.  Apologieswithout action from the very systems they helped to create.  Had it not been for slave labor, many corporations would not be where they are today and for these companies to acknowledge their involvement in slavery and then simply say ‘Oh, I’m sorry”, is to downplay their role in perpetuating the degradation are nothing more than a futile attempt to correct a wrong by pacifying the wronged.  Instead of apologies, these companies could give back to the African American community bydonating to HBCUs, investing in minority businesses, offering more minority scholarships, or launching initiatives to increase their number of minority employees.
New York Life New York Life found that its predecessor (Nautilus Insurance Company) sold slaveholder policies during the mid-1800s.
2. Tiffany and Co Tiffany and Co. was originally financed with profits from a Connecticut cotton mill. The mill operated from cotton picked by slaves.
3. Aetna Aetna insured the lives of slaves during the 1850’s and reimbursed slave owners when their slaves died.
4. Brooks Brothers The suit retailer started their company in the 1800s by selling clothes for slaves to slave traders.
5. Norfolk Southern Rail Road Two companies (Mobile & Girard and the Central of Georgia) became part of Norfolk Southern.  Mobile & Girard paid slave owners $180 to rent their slaves to the railroad for a year.  The Central of Georgia owned several slaves.
6. Bank of America  Bank of America found that two of its predecessor banks (Boatman Savings Institution and Southern Bank of St. Louis) had ties to slavery and another predecessor (Bank of Metropolis)accepted slaves as collateral on loans.
7. U.S.A. Today  U.S.A. Today reported that its parent company (E.W. Scripps and Gannett) was linked to the slave trade.
8. Wachovia Two institutions that became part of Wachovia (Georgia Railroad and Banking Company and the Bank of Charleston)owned or accepted slaves as collateral on mortgaged property or loans.
9. AIG (American International Group)  AIG purchased American General Financial which owns U.S. Life Insurance Company.  AIG found documentation that U.S. Life insured the lives of slaves.
10. JP Morgan Chase  JP Morgan Chase reported that between 1831 and 1865, two of its predecessor banks (Citizens Bank and Canal Bank in Louisiana) accepted approximately 13,000 slaves as loan collateral and seized approximately 1,250 slaves when plantation owners defaulted on their loans

They're talking about wealth and poverty on Twitter
Because Jayson Tatum, an NBA player who's apparently never read a real book in his life, is talking about a $1 million initiative to promote financial literacy among low income families,
And yeah, no.
As someone who was once too poor to go anywhere fun, even if it was free to get into, because I couldn't afford the parking garage or the gas,
As someone who had to choose between paying the car note and paying the insurance,
And who got my car impounded AND 200 hours of community service AND a year of probation because I couldn't pay the ticket Clayton County wrote me because I couldn't pay for my insurance,
(and got a massive concussion during that community service)
As someone who used to walk to work and ride a bike to work, even in the rain, cause no buses were running at that time and I absolutely couldn't afford a cab,
As someone who, during the Great Recession, used to beg T-Mobile and Wachovia to please reverse my late charges or overdraft fees,
And during that same recession, couldn't afford fresh fruit and paid my rent in halves every month, like,
Bitch, I had a free ticket to a film festival and couldn't afford the concessions or to go back home between the showings I wanted to attend because I couldn't afford the gas back and forth,
So i was posted up in the parking lot, in my car, waiting, feeling like a dumbass for being on the wrong end of structural inequality, like,
As someone who been through all THAT,
I'm qualified to tell you that poor people need money, bruh.
No seminar or book is going to change the material conditions of poor people in a capitalist, anti Black society and the idea that you can fix poverty via educating the people crushed by it is rage inducing.
Poor people are EXCELLENT money managers because they've had to properly allocate every dime to avoid disaster!
And when I was no longer poor, you know what I did?
Used that money to build savings and paid off debt because I am an excellent money manager, thanks to years of fucking poverty!
I know you think you ate that,
But the real focus needs to be family planning and birth control, so women can focus on themselves, obtaining therapy, education, and self actualization WITHOUT some man's baby slowing them down.
Poor people know how to manage money just fine, believe me,
Just give them some.
Fuck outta here, Lightskin

Like, I really want to do this "suit-ready pronoun pin" idea we have been talking about for our next Kickstarter/crowdfunding thing, I think it's a very, like, useful thing, but holy fuck I am just so uninspired by it and every time I look at the project I feel like I'm wearing a femme-cut suit and it's 3 PM on a Tuesday and I've got Call Night tonight so I'm gonna have to stay late at Wachovia and pretend I'm calling customers and asking them to refinance or sit down with the branch's financial advisor and holy fuck none of them want to talk to me and I truly hate myself and my stupid chunky highlights and the way suit liner feels on my skin is like touching a snail. Like I try to work on it but it actively repulses me when I try to do it.
And I just sat here thinking about Keppiebara pins. Like. I just laid out a bunch of stretch goals in my head. Cleaner bird mini-pins. Keppiebara chilling in a wooden tub. Mega pins of Keppiebaras with babies or with other animals. A glitter or glow-in-the-dark version. Keychains. Stickers.
I know I said I was gonna do the suit-ready pronoun pins next but like...

We're closing out the 3rd day in 2023, just three days into 2023 and we already have a prophetic eye on what is going to happen this year. 2023 is the year that GOD is going to break down the idols that have elevated themselves against a holy GOD.
Pay attention
Nothing to see here, and there are no coincidences in the Kingdom of GOD! Last night the world watched your above-average, healthy 24-year-old prime, fit athlete collapsing in a heart attack on live TV. People did not pay attention before, but GOD is going to allow people to see and get their attention.
Let me tell you about the prophetic benchmarks for 2023 already. Barbara Walters' death is the beginning of the cleansing and restoration of media. Watch reporters walk off the air, resign and repent. Watch which corporate empires collapse. News reporters will repent on the air and there will be at least one media empire that ceases to exist.
Pope Benedict's death, the Vatican will have a major shakeup this year with another shocking death, and it will cause many in the Catholic Church to question and break off to worship the one true GOD.
January 2, 2023, during a Week 17 game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football, Damar Hamlin made a tackle on wide receiver Tee Higgins who was charging into him. After the tackle, Hamlin got to his feet and then collapsed to the ground. The world watched as they performed CPR on the field. The past decade, the NFL has openly embraced satanism with halftime shows that can only be nicely called vulgar and had advertising promoting an anti-GOD agenda. 2023 is the year that the idol of the NFL is broken, and it returns to its roots. Owners and corporate structures that do not fall in line will be removed.
Watch Banking, JP Morgan, Chase, Bank of America and Wachovia get exposed with their connections that will be obvious and a shaking will occur in the financial realm as banking executives attempt to hide corrupt dealings.
This is only the third and and I can tell you it promises be a busy year. Praise GOD for his restoration. GOD is dismantling Ba'al and idol worship.
👇
Be prepared because this is going to be the year God is going to make some noise and shake things up.
Hence the term; "NOTHING CAN STOP WHAT IS COMING!!!"
This IS biblical... †🙏

Things customers have done in the six months ive worked as a takeout hostess for an all-you-can-eat sushi buffet:
Ordered "the sushi". Would not elaborate
Ordered "the chefs special roll." When told we had 30 of them, asked that they all be read out with ingredients over the phone so he could decide
Asked to make a takeout order. When asked what food they wanted, said "oh, I have to tell you what I want?" Answered affirmative. "Hmm. I guess I should have looked at a menu or something before calling. What do you serve?"
Tried to order spaghetti
Tried to order spare ribs
Tried to order hot wings
Walked in as a large party. When asked how many, they said "oh, we don't know if we'll eat in" and started questioning a waitress. Ignored all attempts to redirect to hostess/takeout staff until getting angry that they hadn't been sat yet
Came in with a full entree complaining that there "wasn't enough food." Elaborated and meant there were too many vegetables. Berated me for not being able to convince Wachovia to issue a refund by end of day on a Sunday
Complained that food was taking too long despite coming in 10 minutes earlier than quoted over the phone. When paying, held up the entire line because they had to activate the card they were using to pay
