Ab da ist der Rückweg zum Motel wieder frei gelegen und führt am See entlang zurück zum Ort. Jetzt wird es erst richtig stürmisch und der Regen nimmt an Stärke heftig zu. Wir sehen aus wie Tiefseetaucher, die gerade mit ihren Anzügen aus dem Wasser steigen.

Trotz des verregneten letzten Abschnitts, erreichen wir glücklich über das vollbrachte Wanderwerk unser Motel, in dem wir vor dem Start auch schon waren. Wir haben für die letzte 19 km Etappe, getrieben von der Witterung, nur 4:10h benötigt und sind kurz vor 14:00h schon im Motel. Zum Glück, denn die folgenden 2 Stunden kann man vor Regen überhaupt nichts mehr vom See erkennen.

Im Motel haben wir eine Gäste-Wäscherei mit einer perfekten professioneller Ausstattung. Alles auspacken, 3 Maschinen Wäsche, und dann mal wieder einen richtigen Kaffee. Wir haben dieses Mal eine 2 Zimmerwohnung im Obergeschoss mit Küche und Balkon mit Blick auf den See, der heute eher aussieht wie die Nordsee. Die größere Wohnung für die Tage nach dem Great Walk hatten wir in Voraussicht auf Organisatorisches so ausgesucht.

Um 18:00h sind alle Spuren des Kepler Tracks an Ausrüstung und Wäsche beseitigt und alles fast schon komplett wieder bereit für das nächste Wanderabenteuer, dass uns nach den nun folgenden 2 ganz ganz langsamen Ruhetagen erwartet.

Nur ganz kurz klart es nach Süden etwas auf. In Richtung Mount Luxmore und nach Norden, hin zum Milford Sound dagegen sieht es immer düsterer aus. Für uns ist alles perfekt aufgegangen.

Heute wollen wir nicht mehr kochen und gehen zu einem Italiener. Dort lernen wir ein ital./brasilianisch-stämmiges Ehepaar aus Perth/Australien kennen. Am anderen nächstgelegenen Tisch sitzt ein junges Paar aus Berlin, die mit einem Camper-Van unterwegs sind. So haben wir zum Tagesabschluss noch sehr freundliche und amüsante Unterhaltungen und sind dann gegen 22:00h im Appartement.

Ach ja, wir waren in den beiden Rücksäcken mit 27,6 kg gestartet und haben nach der Rückkehr nur noch 24,1 kg im Gepäck. Davon beträgt alleine der mitgenommene Eigenabfall schon fast 1 kg. Die 27,6 kg Startgepäck waren, bis auf den 3. Tag, relativ gut zu tragen. Natürlich entlastet jedes Gramm weniger Gepäck auf einer Strecke von 60 km ungemein. Wir werden für den Milford Sound versuchen das Gewicht auf 15kg für mich und 10kg für Hilde zu reduzieren.
