Tried the wonton noodles at a new ramen place nearby. Apparently it's their signature dish. Compared to the Chinese original, Japanese wantanmen are really plainly seasoned and there's not really any filling in the wontons to speak of. The wonton skins in the broth have a great silky texture, and I like this shop's chewy noodles, but wantanmen always leaves me yearning for real Hong Kong style wonton noodles, with charsiu pork and flavorful broth.

There is something about this shrimp wonton soup at one of the Asian places near me that is just magical. It’s like a miracle soup. So hot and delicious and comforting. “We’re optimistic that they’ll hear our argument and take on board the ecology of the lane,” says O’Callaghan. “We want them to put in a green crossing in the gaps between trees, for the bats, and we’d like the place to become a conservation area.”
