You know a world where your ability to carry something is determined by quantity rather than size or weight is very easy to accept in a video game, because of mechanical convenience, but would probably be so strange in a story in any other medium, and I think a few more books and shows could stand to get a little funkier with the fundamentals of their reality like that.

#just casually make a setting that functions different on a fundamental level #this is genuinely my favourite thing about minecraft fics is the absolutely alien setting #that gets treated very casually and with a 'thats just how the world works' mentality #people can exist in multiple worlds and the code that makes them them can be accessed and casually altered #and no one has any ethical problems with admins doing so #there is a clear and defined divide between players and mobs on all levels except emotional #but also players treat their own body as a toy the change and throw around because death means nothing #minecrafts a good one for it because the game has zero story its just a playground for creativity #but i think about final fantasy where entire skillsets are contained in some item or clothing and swapped between #or gta where it costs money to come back to life #theres plenty of media that explores the idea of lives or retries as a mechanic and a story element #but what about the fact that man made objects being and inherent part of the reality to where #a fundamental function such as peoples lives can be restored by paying money #not in a theres a god of greed sense but in a thats just how reality works #a lot of these things get placed on a godlike being when they do pop up and i think thats the boring route #let your setting just function different beyond magic being present #have the characters world and thus mindset be alien

god. yes. the one i'm working on for kinder devil. it's requiring me to keep SO many things straight (ha) while also revisiting old info for the reader and introducing new info for everyone and it's just... so much. i don't want to hate this fic but. it's not been fun. it WILL be fun, if i can get it written. it's just hard. and i don't like hard.

#rubbing my autistic hands together thinking of ways to make them compliment and contrast each other beyond what is presented in canon #loz #legend of zelda #phantom hourglass #link #linebeck #ok but. linebeck is like the best foil to link that i think exists in canon even more than ravio. unless i got them autism blinders on #if so lmk i'll still be thinking about link and linebeck being rlly good foils #okokok listen. a lot of their traits (most of links are implied but hear me out) contrast and can make up for the others #like yeah yeah linebeck's traits are typically portrayed as negative but they could have their uses if link's are taken to an extreme #like ive been thinkin abt linebeck w/ low empathy and link w/ high empathy and how that can work #link being much more willing to help others but linebeck being more capable of being more level-headed about it all #also their designs are like. kind of opposite to each other its great why not take it further huh its fun to think abt #im no character designer but like. link drawn with more circles and round shapes and soft angles vs #using more triangles and harsher angles and harder shapes for linebeck. do you see my vision here #like genuinely if you expand more on their traits and skillsets you've got a good duo that could compliment each other rlly well #this is absolutely delving into fanon but like. linebeck exists in ph a lot of the time to be used to show how cool n shit link is #the reverse doesnt really happen which sucks but it absolutely could #salty talks #im not good with the more technical parts of writing i'll admit so i may be a little off abt how character foils work #but i am thinking abt it here. as someone who writes and thinks about these two in tandem a lot

it always makes me laugh when someone seems shocked by the condition of all my leather. like my stepsister was surprised my boots are so soft but not beat up and im like... uh huh. that's cause i care for them once a month and i re-dye and seal the leather when it gets scuffed

#not to be all 'kids these days'#but i feel like a lots of folks around my age and younger dont understand that some items of clothing #require upkeep to stay nice #and that when you care for them properly they'll last ages #and like i have a tendency to wear my leather until it can no longer be repaired #so like i retired a pair of boots the other year cause id worn 4 large holes into the leather #and the cost to repair (replacing the leather itself is beyond my skillset) was more than new boots #so i replaced mine after that #anyway i was just gifted a new pair of leather shoes #and my stepsister saw me breaking them in and asked why i was doing it #and when i showed her my daily boots and how the way ive cared for them means that theyre in such good condition #she was surprised #sorry im rambling #i legit just spent an hour hitting a pair of shoes with a rubber mallet. im a little out of it #tree talks
