I’ve been spending a lot of time on the comic. Starting to question if anything is even worth it, tbh. But art - even in the face of death and suffering IS worth it…. right?

Frank Brangwyn :: Study for the Missouri State Capital murals, 1914. Silver gelatin print with pencil grid. | Paul Cava Fine Art
Tumblr media
The Paul Cava collection of Brangwyn photographs is the largest archive of it’s kind in private hands. The archive contains over 100 prints, many of which are of nude or semi nude models, squared-up in pencil or ink for transfer onto paper or canvas. It was not uncommon for artists to disassociate themselves from their photographic practices early in the last century and Brangwyn was typical in this respect. | Paul Cava Fine Art

🇬🇧 English Text Note: Very sorry for reposting this again, I tried the new post editor and it broke my theme. I’m reposting this with the old editor. A second update within the same month?! Shocking, I know! 🙃 I just finished this watercolour painting of a dragon for the DTIYS by the incredible @/putrid.hound on Instagram! The original image is a stylised dragon in two stark contrasting colours, bright red and black. To match, I chose a vibrant quinacridone scarlet and a dark, almost black shade of burnt umber. All of my painting was done using these two shades, with a little bit of Potter's Pink for some subtle texture in the background. I hope you'll like it! I had a bit of trouble balancing this intense red between all of my screens. 😅 As usual, take care, and stay safe, everyone. 🖤
~~~~~~~~~~ 🇫🇷 Texte en Français Un deuxième post en moins d'un mois ?! Surprenant, je sais ! 🙃 Je viens de terminer cette aquarelle d'un dragon pour le DTIYS de l'incroyable @/putrid.hound sur Instagram ! L'image originale est un dragon stylisé de deux couleurs très contrastées, un rouge vif et un noir profond. Pour m'en rapprocher, j'ai choisi deux couleurs, un rouge de quinacridone écarlate et une terre d'ombre brûlée très sombre, presque noire. Toute ma peinture a été réalisée avec ces deux couleurs, ainsi qu'un peu de rose de poterie dans l'arrière-plan pour un effet subtil de texture. J'espère que vous aimerez ! J'ai eu du mal à équilibrer ce rouge pétant entre mes divers écrans. 😅
They’ve found peace in each others arms millions of times. But this time, there’s nothing to fear around them. Their peace is safe. 🎨 Watercolor and a bit of digital for lighting edits!
Edward Hopper - Study for Nighthawks (1941-1942)
Tumblr media
Nighthawks by Edward Hopper 1942
Nighthawks by Edward Hopper is an oil painting created in 1942, that portrays four people in a diner at night in New York. The overall tone of the painting is dark, other than the focal point: those in the diner.
No other artist managed to capture the solitude within the modern city like Edward Hopper. The ‘artist of empty spaces’ offers a remindful look at life of Americans during Great Depression. His suggestive imagery shares the mood of individual’s isolation with books of Tennessee Williams, Theodore Dreiser, Robert Frost, Jerome Salinger, as well as with canvasses of Giorgio De Chirico and Paul Delvaux. Hopper depicted the spirit of the time very subtly, showing it in the poses of characters, in the vast empty spaces around them, and also in his unique color palette.
Second spread illustration is underway. Crispin knits! This is one creative hobby I've yet to pick up, but I do enough other fiber crafts that I'm sure I will some day. • #childrensbookillustration #childrensillustration #childrensauthorillustrator #authorillustrator #indieauthorillustrator #picturebook #illustration #bookillustrations #wip #workinprogress #watercolorist #watercolor #elysedeneigeart #crispinthecandycorndragon #candycorn #knitting #dragonoc #dragonbook #dragon #autumnchildrensbooks #elysedeneigebooks https://www.instagram.com/p/CnwugyQuhqS/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
