If I was Aziraphale, I would constantly feel on the edge of being crushed to death by survivor’s guilt over the fact that my best friend/love of my life had been kicked out of Heaven and I hadn’t. And it would probably make me put my foot in my mouth a lot, not to mention making it that much harder for me to admit (to myself or anyone else) that actually, Heaven treated the angels like shit and I was miserable.

Henry receives a call in between meetings and watches Alex getting ready, knowing it, definitely, won't help staying concentrated for the next one. It's a short call and Alex suddently has to go, but texts Henry apologies for the next 10 minutes with how he's late and misses him.

Henry, in fact, did not listen to a word of the following meeting that day but spent the evening in bed, David half asleep next to him, stalking every pic on the internet he could find of his boyfriend dressed like a god and giggling at the thought of "look, he's MY boyfriend!"

(Yes, he did show the pictures to David asking "doesn't your second dad look breathtaking?" and answering on his own "He bloody hell does!")

another thing i keep thinking about is how Kavinsky literally wanted nothing else but Ronan, certainly not with such all-encompassing, distilled ferocity, but was unable to tell him in a “normal”, at least semi-healthy way.

Ok so hangman with a super sweet 2nd grade teacher, the team meets her and they are just like ???

“Blink twice if you aren’t here of your own free well,” Phoenix tells you, her hands on yours, as she looks direct into your eyes, angling you away from Jake.

“We’ll take you away, promise,” Payback says, staring as intently at you as Phoenix is.

It makes you giggle, although you are quite sure they both are 90% serious. You knew Jake had a bit of a reputation at work - smart mouthed, too cocky for his own good, and it didn’t surprise you. It was the first layer of him you had seen the day you had met him, a happy accident, at the bar; but as the night wore on and you both started talking more, you realised that “Hangman” (which he had told you was his call sign) while part of Jake, but was the whole of Jake.

“I am here of my own free well,” you laugh, just as Jake pulls you away by your waist, tucking you into his side while glaring daggers at Phoenix and Payback while also managing to look smug at your declaration.

“Does talking to him feel the same as talking to one of your second graders?” Bob asks, and it makes the group roar with laughter, while in turn makes your lips curve upwards.

“Well at least I don’t look like one of her second graders,” Jake retorts, reaching a hand over to bonk Bob on the head. You catch his hand in time, fingers twining around Jake’s wrist and pulling his hand down before it can touch Bob.

“Be nice,” you tell him and he shrugs almost sheepishly at you.

“Guess it’s good you ended up dating a second grade teacher Hangman,” Rooster snickers, “she clearly knows how to handle you.”

“Oh that she does Bradshaw,” Jake collects himself, a lazy smirk running across his face as he pulls you closer to him, a hand on your hip, “that she does.”

It earns a gag from Fanboy and a hoot from Javy and you groan, hiding your face in Jake’s side.

TCF Villains are kinda weak? (Not really)

There has always been one thing that bugged me as I read the first TCF book; how weak the villains' characters are.

It's not a physical thing though, cause we all know they are POWERFUL. What I meant is that I feel there is a certain lack of depth to their characters. There is no relatedness when it comes to them. We can relate with the gang with their individual struggles, but when it comes to the antagonists? They're just annoying.

But that kept me thinking, what if they are annoying because Cale thinks they are. TCF's narrator is Cale, the story is written mostly through his eyes and thoughts. We are swayed towards a certain way because of his thought processes.

The villains are weak characters because that's how Cale sees them, just annoyances. Imagine being that chill and annoyed when faced with such powerful beings. But this does not come with arrogance. The way he sees it is more like he's downplaying how really terrifying things are like the traumatized kid he is, as if his thought process is like: "It's just another Tuesday".

I just think it's neat that TCF really does not shy about using unconventional storytelling methods and absolutely crushing it. Like, as a writer you will be told to write villains in this certain way then here comes TCF and just does it's own thing and thrives!

At the start I thought that the writing/character development of the villain characters are weak, but in fact, they are just weakly portrayed by the main character. They actually have so much depth to them. They charmingly have a mysterious depth to them that makes us curious about them, but not the the point that we can relate to them. It's like the book itself is saying "they are not the characters who you should connect with".

Now before anyone mentions Fredo, I do not think he ever was an antagonist. He's a morally grey character, neither totally on their side but neither opposing. He established a mutual need with Cale and is relatable on so many levels after we learn that he is on Cale's side. Cleopeh is another good example. He was so unrelatable and annoying when he was the enemy, but as soon as he went to Cale's side, his annoying traits became charming.

But then again, this is just me either overthinking, rationalizing and fangirling. But what do you guys think? Are their characters somewhat weak?
