Wear a helmet when you bike. It might save your life.

Helmets reduce the risk of head injury by 60 - 80%. If you hit a pothole and flip over the handlebars, which would you rather crack open? Your helmet, or your skull?

If you get in a crash and take an impact on your helmet, always replace it afterwards. The foam inside is designed to be single use.

maybe it's the being the daughter of a neurotrauma nurse in me but the fact that none one these mean ever wear helmets when they are riding their little bikes around the paddock or track makes me so angry.

currently recovering from a very mild concussion and i've got to say, one of the worst parts have been that initially i wasn't able to solve riddles or any sort of puzzle without a splitting headache. and a splitting headache is Bad News if you have a concussion, even a mild one, so i've been avoiding them :( i'm feeling better now though! and right back to puzzling!! hope you are well

Oh my gosh dude, please be gentle with your beautiful brain. I have never had one myself, but a very close friend did have several in succession and I know that it is an absolute nightmare to deal with.

Take this as an opportunity to rest your little mind and don't forget to wear sunglasses (I think that helps??). The puzzles and riddles will be right there when you recover 💙

This is terrifying. It takes a good amount of force to knock someone out. You wouldn't be able to generate that with sand, unless you're throwing it really really hard. There's no way Johnny's coming out of this without a concussion, if not serious brain damage and facial scarring.

Public Service Announcement! Wear your fucking helmet!

For real. Wear your helmet. I just had a moped accident today and I love my fucking helmet. I wasn't even that fast, I didn't crash into anything, I just tried to break harder than I really could and then made the mistake of trying to put my feet down which made me fall over. And my head would be at the very least cracked without my helmet. Like it is, the only damage to my head area is that my glasses are very slightly bent. I had a lot of luck and was wearing both my leather jacket and long jeans so the only damage to me is that my knees are a bit bloody and my big toe is a bit bruised. The moped is equally fine, just a bit scuffed. I had incredible luck in my stupidity. And a big part of that was because I was wearing my helmet.

So to summarize: wear your fucking helmet, kids! One day you will have a stupid reflex or just plain bad luck, no matter how careful you are, and your helmet will save you a lot of pain. Trust me.

yesterday i sat outside the icu while my friend took his last breaths on the ventilator and watched a nurse walk by carrying a newborn baby. today after i saw his body in the mortuary, a girl skipped past, holding her parents hands. a death and a birth. parents both grieving and laughing. the sun still shining and the birds still singing. life coming and going coming and going
