I'm so happy to have a chance to showcase my new backpack and actually get out and use it today. It leads me to say many things. So what do I look like when I'm out and about and in my usual hiking and Woodsman role? Well, that role is pretty much a lifestyle for me. This picture accurately sums up all of the characteristics you'll find with me. In fact, let's go into a little detail about my usual wardrobe choices. Just about any time in the spring, fall, and winter you'll find me wearing functional wool pants #weatherwool or something similar. Buffalo plaid has always been a favorite of mine and you'll find it scattered throughout my wardrobe. Hats, always wearing a hat. Whether it's a Duluth wool, #askovfinlayson North, my black Amish knit cap, or my newest favorite for the cool temps, an #organicclimbing cap. Then there's my Dollywood handmade hat that my wife got for me, or a lightweight Tilley hat with Brim in the summer. Practically all of these are usa-made products, tilley being made in Canada. Utility. Function. Traditional yet classic that never wears out. Super shout out to my brother @ruthworkssf for this absolutely sick backpack that he custom made for me with all the specs that I wanted. The quality far exceeded anything that I could have dreamed of. To think that a rugged bushcrafter type backpack such as this was crafted in San Francisco on the west coast! Speaks volumes about the variety of characters that we work with each day the potential of each of these Craftsman and builders! Thanks again to Brian and Monica @carsickdesigns for the awesome water bottle pouch that fits perfectly on my backpack belt. One of the top posts over on the frugalmalefashion subreddit right now asks “What are some small brands/companies that you love having great sales this weekend?”

Hopefully this post helps answer that question.

To be transparent, I’m not familiar with all of these companies. But after compiling a post of great sales from multi-billion-dollar companies, I’ve enjoyed the process of going through these more boutique sites, learning about their back stories and finding cool merchandise.

American Trench

American Trench started off bringing a “Made in USA” trench coat to market, and has since expanded into other garments, including some neat collaborations (see my earlier post about their shirts with Epaulet). A big thank you to my favorite hiking partner ever...Timber...oh, and @brtny82 for coming on our short little journey today and taking pics.This is the usual result of any picture that involves myself and Timber. Especially whenever we're trying to get him to look at the camera. He only wants to do one thing, kiss me. We found this nice fire ring with several rocks propped up and this one made the perfect recliner. Looking back to the beginning of September, I had a chance to kick off a bucket list destination which included all kinds of other Bucket list activities. I’m glad to see I was able to spend two days travel +9 days a pure bliss with the person I love the most. @brtny82 . My wife took this picture of me as we were near the location of a mythical monster! I love to give credit where credit is due. On my back is my North Street backpack. Every single thing I needed for the entire time that I was in Iceland, was in this backpack.
