Nighttime could be hellish.
It was probably why Wednesday adored it so much.
You loved it too. There was something divine about the nighttime. People feared the dark, but you saw it as an opportunity to rest your weary eyes and bones. The night gave way to being invisible, and there were some days when that was all you could bear to be.
But to Wednesday Addams, who loved the dark, you could never be invisible to her.
It was a blessing and a curse.
To be seen by Wednesday—it was something more than many people could ever hope for.
But to be seen when you wanted to be invisible? It was like being dragged without anything to hold onto.
Nighttime was hellish, and you wanted to disappear into the dark as your nightmares plagued you until you couldn't even tell what was the dream and what was the reality.
But Wednesday Addams saw you.
⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶⊷†⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶⊷
You've missed Enid's late-night studying session again. It's the second week in a row that Enid's gotten a text from you two minutes before the session started.
"I guess we can start," Enid told the group with a disappointed smile. "She's not coming today either."
"Fuck," Xavier sighed. "She's the only one who's good at art restoration. I was hoping she'd help me with my assignment."
Wednesday's face scrunched together mildly, and Xavier rolled his eyes. "Except for you, Wednesday. But you hate teaching me and I hate learning from you."
"I can't help it if you're stupid," Wednesday dully replied.
"Not all of us can do it perfectly after being told what to do—told only once might I add," Xavier raised his brow at her.
Wednesday shrugged, which only seemed to irk Xavier more and to prevent them from bickering further, Yoko turned to Enid and asked, "Why isn't she coming?"
Enid shrugged, her lips quirked to the side as they pressed together. "She texted to say she wasn't feeling well and couldn't make it."
"She does seem tired lately," Bianca commented, her expression in deep thought as she recalled the last two weeks when she saw you. "Also, really quiet. Well, quieter than she normally is."
There were murmurs of agreement around while Wednesday sat silently. Of course, she also noticed, but she was waiting for you to say something to her. You always told her whatever was plaguing you, even when Wednesday told you she didn't ask. Wednesday was used to hearing your mundane thoughts or solving your problems.
But there was nothing this time, and Wednesday couldn't figure it out. She tried to think back to see if anything had changed—if something had happened, but there was nothing.
Two weeks of leaving you be was enough, though, Wednesday decided as she packed her things into her bag.
"What! Wednesday, are you leaving too?" Enid groaned. "But I need help with botanical sciences!"
"Ask Bianca," Wednesday didn't even look up.
Enid looked at the siren, who had a deceitful, happy smile.
"I'd be happy to help you, Sinclair. Let's talk The Poe Cup negotiations first."
"Absolutely not!" Enid scoffed before turning back to Wednesday with pleading eyes. "Wednesday..." she whined.
"Ask Xavier," Wednesday didn't budge.
"But all he does is draw in class. There's no way he's doing well."
"I'll have you know I'm getting a C," Xavier looked affronted.
Enid merely stared at the sullen boy for a long moment before she turned back to Wednesday. "I'll just wait for you tomorrow after school."
Xavier was about to say something else when Wednesday briskly nodded, standing up and leaving the group behind without another word.
⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶⊷†⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶⊷
It was completely silent on the other side of your door, and from its looks, it was dark as no lights were shining underneath it.
Wednesday knocked in three successions.
There was no answer.
If it were anyone else, they would've believed you weren't there and left, but not Wednesday.
No, she knew you far too well.
This was a place where you could truly be invisible with no roommate.
Wednesday knocked insistently until she heard shuffling, an agitated huff, and footsteps approaching the door.
The door only opened marginally. You looked mildly surprised to see her, but Wednesday supposed you had too little energy to manage anything more.
There were dark circles under your eyes, and they looked puffy and slightly red around the edges from lack of sleep. Your skin was pallor, which suited someone like Wednesday, but she decided it was not on you. Your hair lacked its usual shine, and Wednesday's eyes narrowed as she finished scrutinizing you.
"What are you doing here?" You asked quietly.
"Are you going to just let me stand out here?"
"I'm not in the mood for company, Wednesday," you blinked slowly.
It was new.
You were usually happy for Wednesday's company whenever she stopped by, and you often visited her dorm.
"I have had enough of this," Wednesday glared at you through the gap in the door. "You will let me in."
"And if I don't?" You challenged back, and Wednesday almost wanted to applaud the snippy attitude you've mustered through the tiredness.
"Then I will wait out here and ensure you don't get a. Single. Wink. Of. Sleep." It was a threat that tugged at your nerves. You looked at Wednesday, and for a brief moment, she thought she won before you shut the door in her face.
Disbelief clouded over Wednesday's eyes.
Then, Wednesday began to knock incessantly over and over on your door. Her knuckles knock with a vengeance, and she'll be damned if you think she doesn't take absolute joy in torturing you.
It worked because you open the door wider this time, as you stare at Wednesday with a glare.
"What part of 'I'm not in the mood for company' was unclear, Wednesday?" Your voice was gruff, and Wednesday could tell that you were still trying to not snap at her despite how tired you were.
And that in itself was everything. It was like that all the time.
You were always trying to be considerate of whatever feelings you thought Wednesday might have while gently pushing her to admit which ones she was truly feeling.
Maybe that was why Wednesday could never leave you alone now.
You were a gateway to things Wednesday never wanted, and she genuinely thought you should pay for making her desire things she swore she'd never want.
"Say you don't want my company then," Wednesday said haughtily.
Wednesday knew you wouldn't—couldn't, even. You never would.
Just as you were her exception, she was yours.
You pursed your lip at her, starting to close the door swiftly, and Wednesday stuck her foot partially into your room, preventing you from shutting the door in her face again.
"Wednesday!" You called her name, concerned you might've hurt her when the door hit her foot, but the macabre girl used the opportunity to press her palm flat against your door and pushed it wide open.
She took a step forward menacingly, forcing you to take a step back. She took another step, and you took another one back. When she was inside your room fully, she used the back of her heel to shut your door.
The resounding click of it made you swallow.
"Wednesday," you clenched your jaw, fighting against something you weren't even really sure why. But you were terrified—of her, you don't think, but rather what she was capable of doing to your heart.
"I have been patient," Wednesday's voice is quiet, but her tone is sharp, expressing every bit of her lost tolerance. "I have waited for you silently."
Wednesday kept walking towards you, backing you up until your back bumped into your desk. She looked positively irritated. "I have even refrained from saying a single unkind thing despite them running through my mind at the sight of you moping at whatever has been keeping you up at night."
"How did you know—"
"Do you take me for an idiot?" Wednesday's eyes flashed dangerously at your insinuation. You shook your head.
"Then you must take me for a fool with endless patience," Wednesday glared at you. "I don't take kindly to the kind of games you're playing."
"I'm not playing anything—"
Wednesday cut you off again. "Then explain concisely what has been keeping you up and why you've been keeping it to yourself."
Silence filled the room as you didn't speak, but Wednesday had already waited this long. She could wait a little more.
Wednesday watched how you gripped the edge of your desk, your finger tapping underneath in rapid succession before you closed your arms over her chest.
The stance was defensive, but you looked more reluctant than wary.
"I'm having nightmares about you."
The admittance stunned Wednesday, and she didn't know how to take it. Initially, it felt like a compliment because nightmares were so fascinating and exhilarating to experience, and Wednesday hoped to have nightmares every night she slept based on that logic.
But you were not her.
Nightmares, illogically, were typically not desirable.
"Wednesday, I—" You swallowed. "I have feelings for you. You're the best and worst part of my days because I actually feel clinically insane everytime I see you, spend time with you and then have to face the fact that you're not mine and I'm not yours."
Wednesday's jaw clenched, and it was noticeable. She wanted to open her mouth and demand how you could feel the exact same way she did, but she kept her mouth shut, waiting for you to continue on.
"And I have nightmares about losing you," you confessed. "I have nightmares about losing you to Tyler or another deranged supernatural being. I have nightmares about losing you to Xavier or Enid or somebody like Tyler, minus the whole mass genocide. I have nightmares about losing you in every single imaginable way, only to wake up and realize you're not mine, and you can't lose what you don't have."
"I can't tell if the nightmare is when I'm asleep or when I'm awake." You put your hands to your face, laughing hollowly. Tears well up in the back of your eyes, burning as they were so dry from lack of sleep. "I think I'm going crazy."
Wednesday wanted to tell you that going crazy was supposed to be wonderful. But she, herself, has been experiencing the whirlwind of elation and torment you put her through and believed that going crazy wasn't as wonderful as she thought.
But Wednesday decided then and there that there was no way up from crazy. And while it's unfortunate that she's not the brand of crazy like Uncle Fester, she's been driven mad nonetheless. It's the only thing that could explain all of this and everything that's about to come.
Wednesday grabbed your wrist, moving your hand away from her face. No visions plague her, and all she knows is that this meant her decision wouldn't end in misfortune and it wouldn't drive her down a lonely path.
"Enid's not expecting me back tonight," Wednesday told you as she dragged you over to your bed. Her succinct tone leaves no room for you to ask any questions.
"Um, okay?" You said anyway, thrown off by her response and feeling exhaustion saw at your bones, dragging the invisible knife back and forth.
Wednesday guided you to get into bed, and you complied. Resignation settled over you as you rested your head on your pillow. It was cold again with you being away from it, but it brought no comfort.
You lay facing the wall, about to pull the blanket up to your chin, when you heard something drop against the floor. You turned your head and saw that Wednesday had set her backpack down, and now she was zipping off her sweater, hanging it on the pole of your bed frame, leaving her in her black long-sleeve.
Wednesday took her shoes off before using every bit of her vulnerability to steadily and carefully climb into bed with you. It was dark, with only a little light from the moonlight shining just barely into the room, and you could make out the barest hint of her features and knew she was staring intently at you, trying to ascertain if this was a boundary both of you could bear to cross.
Her touch was slow and hesitant, revealing this was something she's never done before, but the moment you were in her arms, you clicked into place like a puzzle piece.
Wednesday was cool against your body, but she was warming from your touch and shared heat trapped under the blanket. She smelt like rain and dry leaves, and you felt like you were going insane. You buried your face into her neck.
Wednesday wrapped her arms around you, holding you close, allowing the things she's been desiring for a while to come to fruition. She couldn't tell if this was making her saner or driving her closer to insanity.
It was deliriously pleasant.
"Who said you're not mine?" Wednesday muttered into the shell of your ear.
It's suddenly not enough, and Wednesday now knew the answer was that it was driving her closer to insanity.
Wednesday pulled back slightly, looking into your eyes that were so tired just moments ago. The dark circles remained, but you were wide awake, speckles of oblivion in your eyes.
Despite how everything else changed as you became sleep deprived, your lips still remained full and soft.
Wednesday moved to close the gap, sighing softly as her lips slanted against yours.
How could she feel like jagged glass, splintered and sharp, while you felt so soft, practically melting around her serrated edges?
Wednesday only pulled back marginally, cupping your jaw and the back of your neck. "Who told you that you don't already have me? I want names."
You couldn't even think straight with how her breath felt on your lips. You pushed forward again, pressing your lips against Wednesday's insistently.
Was it possible for reality to be better than a dream?
Your lips slotted over Wednesday's over and over and over. Wednesday tugged at your bottom lip, smoothing over it with her tongue before it dipped at the edge of your mouth where your tongue met hers.
It was dizzying, something that frequently happened to Wednesday when it was too warm. She usually hated the sensation of it, but, of course, as many things were exceptions when it came to you, this was one of them too.
"Your nightmares are inane."
You couldn't help but laugh against Wednesday's lip.
"I think I am actually insane," you grinned, and you saw a ghost of something similar on Wednesday's lips.
"Sleep," Wednesday ordered you, kissing you chastely initially but ending up biting your bottom lip tenderly. Her hands pull you closer, her lips resting on your forehead. "I'm here, so nothing will plague you."
The softness of Wednesday is unimaginable, and you're nearly skeptical.
"But—"
"No." Wednesday countered bluntly. "I'm telling you that I'm here and yours. You may come to regret it, knowing how...difficult I am. But you're stuck with me. Congratulations," Wednesday tilts her head slightly, brushing against yours, "or condolences."
But you could hear Wednesday's heartbeat, and it was dark, and you were so tired, but you were close enough to hear Wednesday's heartbeat.
Your lips tingle from Wednesday's kisses. You felt your eyelids grow heavy along with your body, and the way Wednesday shifted told you she was satisfied.
Nighttime could be hellish, but Wednesday Addams saw you—she always would. And all she had to do was put her lips over your nightmares.

Black Christmas 🎄
Pairing: Wednesday x You (any gender)
Summary: It's the Holiday season and this time you are spending it at Nevermore Academy since your folks aren't around this year. Wednesday and the rest of the crew are also at Nevermore this year so you decided to do something special for your Girlfriend, Wednesday Addams.
WordCount: 1.5k words
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You knock on a dorm door on Christmas night the stillness in the air made you reminisce of home. you lived outside the city but your quiet town wasn't too bad, The quiet nights with barely any cars driving through and the falling snow made you feel calm.
You hear the door begin to unlock and you see a bubbly blonde girl with colorful dyed hair opens the door. "Oh hey Y/N! I'm just now heading down to the Holiday party with Thing." You can see the stitched-up hand on Enid's shoulder waving at you with his index finger.
"Hey Thing." you say to him "Wednesday inside?" You ask the two
"Yea you know Ms. Gloomy, typing away at her typewriter," says Enid with her sarcastic but bubbly grin
"I can hear you" you can hear Wednesday exclaim from inside the room
"Good luck and don't miss out on the holiday party! We definitely need you and Wednesday to complete our dancing crew"
Thing begins to tap on Enid's as if he is asking if he was a part of the dance crew.
"Of course, Thing. I can't wait to tear it up with you" She says as they begin to walk down the hallways leading to the party below in Nevermore's halls.
You walk in to see the half-colorful and half-black room the two girls share. As Enid said there was Wednesday typing away at her typewriter. You get closer and look at the sheets of paper that were typed and put to the side of her desk or the papers that were thrown away in the waste bin.
"How's the story going?" You ask
The ding of the of typewriter hits the emptiness of the room and Wednesday takes the page out and crumbles it up and throws it on the floor.
"Not that great huh?" you say as you pick up the crumpled paper and check its contents. "Wow, you are writing a Christmas section of your book?"
"Viper's partner has invited her to a Christmas gathering. I cant seem to put into words of a Christmas celebration other than setting fire to a tree and dancing on the ashes as my mother and father would do." She exclaims while putting in a new sheet of paper in the typewriter.
After you and Wednesday decided to begin dating her writing shifted a bit from being a loner. She added two new characters that help her solve her cases. A ragtag sweet talker who had the strength of 40 men and Viper's partner that always has her back. Clearly, you could tell it was based on you and Enid, Wednesady would never admit it though.
As Wednesday begins to write up another attempt of doing this section of the story. You put your hand on hers and say "How about a break?" "Let's go to the party downstairs. It could be a lot of fun" you say to her but she seems reluctant to go downstairs and deal with all the bright lights and happy times.
"No. I rather work on this section. The sooner the better I don't have to worry about this Christmas fiasco" she said. You grab her chair and spin her around to look at you. "Wednesday it's Christmas. It's time to spend time with the people you love. Your family is in the Real Bermuda Triangle....Whatever that means. So you are here with me Enid and Thing."
Wednesday looks at you with open eyes, her pupils were as dark as the midnight sky. "How about this you come with me to give you your Christmas gift and if you are still not up to the Christmas spirit, then you can go back to wringing your story" you say.
Wednesday gets up from her chair with her platform black boots. "Deal" she replies and puts on her black jacket.
"By the way, You have to close your eyes" you explain
After 10 mins of leading Wednesday through hallways and stairs. You finally make it. "Ok just hold on a few seconds," you say as you begin to shift around moving things and putting things into place. You move behind her and slowly say "Ok....open them"
Wednesday slowly opens to see the Nightshade room has been turned into a dark morbid Christmas Addams wonderland. Wednesday was stunned but as you know no emotion shows on her face. "I tried to do my best with what I had. Was tricky getting the Christmas tree black, let's just say it's a huge fire hazard."
In the middle of the room, there is a black Christmas tree that has been littered with skull ornaments. scorpions, severed baby doll heads.
"This is absolute, dark, horrid, and downright distasteful.....I love it" said Wednesday with a slight smirk as she looked at the Christmas tree. Every Ornament seemed to be brought from a shop from in town. Then Wednesday notices an ornament that seems to be a picture of You, Wednesday, Enid, Thing, Eugene Xavier and Bianca/ She raised her hand to put it on the Christmas tree and the picture as she got closer "Ash... you sprinkled ash on it"
"Yea, since we can't burn it I burned a couple branches on the campus grounds and brought the ashes here. The Groundskeepers are not gonna be happy with the scorched earth." you said as you started to rummage through a bag that was on a chair nearby. a black skinny rectangle present with a silver bow and ribbon was taken out the bag.
"Hey" you say to Wednesday.
She turns around to see you holding out a present to her.
"What's this all about?" she asks
"Merry Christmas," you say with a bright smile on her face and hand it over to Wednesday
She opens them and begins to widen her eyes it's a picture of you and her and you got her a hardcover Notepad with a Raven standing on top of a skull with her initials on it.
"Just a little something to have me always with you and while you are gone something to write when you don't want to move over to the typewriter." you say.
Wednesday looks at the picture of you two, the day was very special for her. This was the day you both did a cemetery date on a full moon. It was interesting to watch the Wolf Pack wolf out and have a great time. You made ink black pasta which took you a couple mistakes until you got it right but it was worth it.
"Thank you," she said with her normal Wednesday tone. She looked around and put her picture of you two down then reached inside the book and found an ink fountain pen inside. She began to write inside the book. You tried to look over her shoulder but she was blocking it with her small stature.
She got up and held the book to her chest.
"You ok?" you ask
She turned around to face you and held up the book and opened up the first page to show you a page writing that says "You are the candle in my dark ice path in the night. I love you, Merry Christmas." You smile at the gesture, Wednesday pulls the book down to reveal her face and shows she was slightly blushing but still had her half-dead emotionless face.
"I love you too Wednesday....my" You say then try to remember what her father says to her mother. "Mi Caria"
She smiles and chuckles at your horrible pronunciation but you did your best. "Mon Cher" she says laying the book down on the chair and hugs you and looks up at you.
You take out your cell phone and begin to play some classical music to dance to from a nearby Bluetooth speaker. You hold up your hand and grab it and you dance and look into the eyes of each other. Wednesday lays her head on your chest as you dance and you smile since you never felt so vulnerable and loved from one person.
"I think i know how im going to end that section of the story now with Viper." Wednesday says to you as you two continue to dance.
"Oh how so...." you say looking down at her
Wednesday Addams the little dark starlight of Nevermore Academy looks into you with her black eyes as if she is pulling you in with magic.
"Like this" she says as she places her hands on the sides of your face and pulls you towards her and kisses you on the lips. She is usually super cold but this time her lips are warm as if she is melting away any ice between you two.
"Now that is my kind of ending" you smile and so does she. "Wanna go to the holiday party, I know Enid and Thing are waiting on us" as you gesture towards the top of the stairs to go back to the school.
Wednesday nods "But I have a Christmas present for you back in my room....Well, two now. So we have to get that first"
"Awesome! I can't wait to see what it is." You exclaim
"Let's just say one of them you are going to need to stretch." she says with a smirk
(Didn't think I would be able to write another Wednesday story. I just finished watching the show and wow loved it. For this one, everyone is aged up just because of the way it ends.
Its Christmas and i wanted to write another story. So here we are. It was a fun one to do after my Christmas events. So it was a good time. The funny thing about this story is it was going to be short then turned into this ahaha. But either way if you have any ideas for another story hit the Ask button below!
Thanks and love you all and be sure to leave a comment on the story to help me improve. I know I'm not the best writer but its fun.)

Barefoot in the kitchen, sacred new beginnings…
Chapter 19 out!
“It is on m–”
“This is not on you!” She groaned, irritated, and glared at him, “Daniel! This is not on you, think a little! You’re a great fucking driver, for God’s sake!”
Daniel, on the other hand, looked at her as if she had grown two heads.
“You know one victory among a poor performance is not exactly the id–”
“No, no, no, no”, she let out a humorless laugh, suddenly filled with urgency, postulating to her confused husband half-naked on the bed like a child in detention, “No, sir. You’re not gonna defend them, do you hear me? You’re gonna go there, and…”
Her mouth fell agape when she didn’t know exactly what he should do besides not giving up. But she kept the pose nonetheless, one hand on her waist and an authoritative finger in the air, while Daniel stared at her completely at loss.
“And?” He arched a brow at her.
“And”, she stressed the word to emphasize its importance, “You’re gonna go there and remind them who the fuck you are. Yes. That 's what”.

Pushing Towards You
Chapter 22: Rave'N
Tumblr media
There was Larissa. Sitting in her armchair, in her masculine form, panting. Since Rebeca's visit, that scene had become commonplace. She needed to become intimate with her own body before she could introduce it to Calista. Truth be told, her male body. Years had passed since the last time Larissa had transformed into her male self. She didn't feel comfortable, but the desire to have a child with Calista was greater.
Sighing, she looked at the clock; it was almost time for her meeting with Gaia. They would start planning Rave'N. Getting up from the chair, Larissa went to her quarters to clean up. It was getting more complex every day to do it alone; Larissa was not a teenager who got turned on for any reason, and time was passing for her and Calista.
As she washed, she wondered why she hadn't included Calista initially. The answer was simple: shame and fear. She was ashamed of Calista seeing her male form and afraid that this new form would be more attractive than the original. She spent years perfecting her masculine self, trying to modify every feature of her body that she didn't like, creating an entirely new person. It was still possible to recognize Larissa, but the insecurity was evident when she transformed.
Larissa looked in the mirror, undressed and still in her male form. Would Calista like it? She wondered. Would she like me more as a man? Sighing deeply, she returned to her original form, dressed, and returned to her room. She had just decided that it was time for Calista to meet her male self when there was a knock on the door. Gaia arrived for the meeting with Larissa.
------
Patiently, Calista waited for Larissa.
A few weeks had passed since she and Larissa learned to conceive a child together. Despite not putting pressure on her loved one, Calista felt frustrated for not participating in the initial project. She knew that Larissa was insecure about herself, and that wouldn't change even if she were in her male form. In this way, she avoided bringing up the subject to give the principal more space but lived in anticipation of the day things would change.
When the idea of having a child was suggested, Calista was not prepared to get pregnant again after years. She and Larissa had resumed their relationship not long ago; the city was new, the routine was new, and the work was new. With the number of changes Calista had gone through, pregnancy was not part of her plans. But now everything has changed. Now, she finds herself planning the arrival of this child. But before Calista could say anything to Larissa, she found a package of condoms in a shared drawer.
"Honey, I thought the intention was for me to get pregnant," Calista said, showing the newly found package.
Larissa was in the kitchen, preparing dinner, and had to turn around to see what Calista was talking about when she saw the package of condoms hanging in the air.
"That's the intention." She said. "But I don't want you to get pregnant while I'm in my male form."
Calista left the package on the counter and went to Larissa, hugging her from behind. She felt Larissa's body relaxing slightly on top of hers.
"Does this mean you're ready to include me?" Calista asked with a smile.
"Yes, darling. Let's do this." Larissa kissed Calista's forehead and turned her attention to the stove.
Calista remained there, hugging Larissa for a few more seconds before turning around and returning to the bedroom to put the condoms back in the drawer.
After dinner, Calista was sitting on the sofa with her legs on Larissa's lap, reading a book, when she noticed the director looking around the apartment, lost in thought.
"What are you looking for, Riss?" Calista asked.
"We need to buy a house," Larissa replied distractedly.
Calista frowned, marked the page she had stopped on, and left the book on the coffee table. Crawling onto Larissa's lap, she made herself comfortable and wrapped the hands around her neck.
"Tell me what's on your mind, love," Calista said, resting her head on Larissa's shoulder.
"The apartment is cozy. But it's not ours and not big enough for the two of us, Artemis and another child." Larissa pondered, hugging Calista around the waist.
Larissa wanted to buy a house in Jericho because it was well located for both her and Calista to go to work. For her, the house should have at least three bedrooms and a backyard; she insisted on a backyard. Artemis should have her room on school holidays or whenever she wants to sleep at home.
Larissa described in detail the type of house she would like to have. It seemed like she had been planning this all her life, even though she wasn't sure if she would ever start a family. Calista listened in amazement and could imagine their house just by listening to Larissa speak.
"You look sexy when you behave like a head of the family." Calista joked.
"You think?" Larissa smiled, straightening up.
Calista laughed and nodded, biting her lip. Slowly, she adjusted herself on Larissa's lap, placing one leg on each side of her hips, straddling her. Larissa's hands were already smoothing Calista's back underneath her t-shirt, and her mouth was already moving towards Calista's.
Larissa got up, carrying Calista in her arms without breaking the kiss, and took her to the bedroom. Calista lay down in the middle of the bed and leaned on her elbows to watch Larissa slowly take off her clothes in front of the bed. She wanted to shift in front of Calista so as not to be awkward when entering the room as a completely different person.
Calista watched in silence a naked Larissa who, in a sigh, gave way to a man who was also blond with blue eyes but considerably shorter. Larissa has always had a problem with her height, so it was natural that she wanted to change this feature. The male version had narrow hips and broad shoulders, discreetly muscular but tending towards a leaner profile. Larissa also had a problem with her weight.
The scar on his lips was still there. The thin and long fingers were also present, now without nail polish. The male version of Larissa was just as beautiful as her original form. Calista probably let that thought show because Larissa quickly started trying to cover herself with her hands, blushing slightly.
Calista walked on her knees to the edge of the bed and reached out to Larissa, pulling her close. Calista smoothed Larissa's body, running her hands over her chest and abdomen. Larissa instinctively let her arms fall to her sides and closed her eyes, feeling Calista's touch travel through her body. A shiver ran down her spine when Calista's lips touched her collarbone.
"You are beautiful, my love." Calista whispered repeatedly as she kissed Larissa's body, moving up her neck and ending at her mouth.
Calista kissed Larissa intensely, closing her fingers in the other woman's short platinum blonde hair. Larissa grunted into the kiss and pulled Calista by the waist. Calista could feel Larissa's erection in her lower parts now that the heights were compatible.
Slowly, Larissa undressed Calista without letting their mouths move apart. Before getting into bed, Larissa took a condom from the dresser drawer. She found that extremely strange; they never needed it. But now the purpose was different, so Larissa sighed and climbed onto the bed, crawling over to Calista, who kept her eyes on Larissa the whole time.
------
Calista woke up the next day next to Larissa in her original form. The woman was fast asleep. Shifting just one part of the body was tiring; doing it with the entire body and combining it with aerobic physical activity was exhausting. Before bed, Calista made a cup of hot chocolate for a panting and sweaty Larissa.
Sneaking out of bed, Calista picked up the remains of the previous night from the floor and headed sleepily to the bathroom to shower. She was a little more sore than usual. Shifting to a man increased Larissa's strength and body mass, as well as her sexual drive. Thus, Calista had to adapt to the new style.
Larissa was still sleeping when Calista got out of the shower, indicating that the energy expenditure was more significant than intended. Not hungry, Calista lay on the couch and flipped between television channels without paying attention, letting time pass and waiting until Larissa woke up.
It wasn't long until Larissa appeared in the room, still in her pajamas and messy hair—a very peculiar image for Calista. Larissa was always tidy. But not this time. She looked tired and unconcerned about her appearance but, at the same time, relaxed. She got under Calista, letting the other lie on top of her, kissed the crown of her head, and dozed off. Calista stayed there. She was lying on top of Larissa, watching something on television and listening to her low, calm breathing.
It took another forty minutes until Larissa was fully awake. It was still early for Calista, but by Larissa's standards, it was already late. It wasn't a work day, but she still liked getting up early. However, that day, she was lazy, and Calista wanted to take the opportunity to spend a peaceful and relaxing day with Larissa.
"Eat, my love. You need to replenish your energy." Calista prepared breakfast with more food than usual—eggs, bacon, bread, butter, hot chocolate - of course - and many other things.
"I thought you didn't like cooking." Larissa's eyes widened as she took her first bite of bacon and eggs. It was delicious, and she felt her body reinvigorate.
"Not liking to cook doesn't mean I don't know how." She smiled and received a smile and a nod in response as Larissa helped herself to hot chocolate. "How are you feeling?"
Larissa shrugged. "Exhausted. I didn't expect to have my energy drained like this."
"Have you ever done this before?" Calista asked casually but with a hint of jealousy.
"Shifting for sex?" Larissa's eyes widened. "At university, those who didn't stay away from me because I was an outcast approached me to do personal experiments with me. At first, I gave in, of course. Then, it became too depressing. It's been a while since I tried that."
Jealousy gave way to anger. Calista became extremely angry when she found out people were approaching Larissa to use her in some way. She couldn't understand or imagine how people didn't appreciate her like Calista did.
"Riss, we don't need to do it this way if it brings back bad memories or makes you feel out of place." Calista held Larissa's hand and looked into her eyes. "You can keep trying on your own. I can wait as long as it takes."
Larissa shook her head, took Calista's hand to her mouth, and kissed her knuckles. "You're not abusing me or using me, Lis. Don't worry. Last night was wonderful—just a little more exhausting than I imagined." She smiled.
"Do you think it worked?" Calista didn't understand shapeshifting, but Larissa and Artemis have said several times that they simply know because they are always aware of their bodies.
"I believe so." Larissa bent her head thoughtfully as if trying to access her body's deepest parts. "It was a new feeling. Maybe a few more tries before I need to test it."
"Test it?" Calista frowned, confused.
"Yes... Well." Larissa seemed slightly annoyed at the idea. "Rebeca sent me a message a few days ago and said that the best way to make sure the shift was complete was to do a spermogram. So that we don't live in anticipation of your pregnancy."
Calista laughed. "So, you're going to have to march into a lab and just jerk off into a cup?" She was clearly having fun with the idea.
Larissa pursed her lips. "Well, that's not a delicate way of putting it, but yes, that's exactly what I need to do."
"Oh, honey. I'm sorry you had to put yourself through this." Calista was having fun. She tried to hide her smirk. "But I can give you a hand if you want." She winked.
Larissa narrowed her eyes and squeezed her lips, trying to hide her smile due to Calista's sarcasm. "I think I can handle it, thank you. But I shall give you a call if I need to." She finally smiled.
------
Over the months, Larissa took turns spending the night with Calista in her male form and taking care of business alone during the day at the office. This way, she got a few free nights in her original form.
Organizing Rave'N was on the back burner on her agenda. Gaia was excited about the planning. She and Professor Mitchell would chaperone the dance that year, leaving Larissa free to enjoy the night. Thus, the principal's participation was only to authorize the purchase of supplies and materials according to the established budget.
"You are doing an excellent job, Gaia." Larissa was at her desk, signing some papers at the end of another meeting for the Rave'N organization.
"I appreciate the trust." Gaia smiled when she received the compliment.
"You should ask Miss Micthell to the ball." Larissa suggested returning the documents.
"Perhaps." Gaia looked thoughtful. "We're going to chaperone; I don't know if that would be appropriate."
"I don't see what the problem would be, but it's up to you," Larissa smiled.
Larissa could enjoy the ball for the first time since she was a student, so she would invite Calista to accompany her. Their last Rave'N as students did not end as expected, with the murder charge against Gomez Addams and a fight between her and Calista.
"I imagine you'll be coming with Calista, right?" Gaia was getting up from her seat to leave.
"I believe so. For some reason, I'm nervous about asking her to be my date." Larissa leaned back in her chair and raised her eyebrows.
"I think it's the memories of the past," Gaia suggested. "But don't worry. She agreed to marry you. Rave'N is nothing close to that." Winking, she left, closing the door behind her.
She has a point. Larissa thought. I'm going to talk to Calista tonight.
------
"Artemis texted me earlier." Calista was cuddling with Larissa on the sofa after dinner with a glass of wine in her hand. "She wants to go shopping on Saturday to buy her Rave'N dress."
That was Larissa's cue. She sought to talk about the ball without being too casual or clingy. For some reason, she could feel butterflies in her stomach whenever she thought about mentioning it.
"Talking about that..." Larissa looked down at Calista and scratched her scalp. I won't chaperone the ball this year, so I was wondering if you would like to go on a date. Our last Rave'N didn't end as planned." She was feeling eager. Why was she feeling eager? It was just a school ball, for God's sake!
A bright smile was forming on Calista's face. "Of course I would, Riss." She could already imagine both of them together, finally, at the Rave'N.
Larissa breathed a sigh of relief and only then realized she was holding her breath, waiting for Calista's response. She knew she would get a yes answer, but that didn't lessen her anxiety when asking the question. "I think I'm going to need a dress, too," she heard Calista say as she imagined what it would be like their night. "Artemis will like to help you choose it." She finally responded by returning to reality and smiling at Calista.
That was one of many topics on Larissa's mind. Another was making a silent noise in her mind. The next day, Larissa would go to a laboratory to check if the shifting worked. She didn't want to comment with Calista so that expectations wouldn't be generated, and she was eventually frustrated. But simultaneously, she felt terrible about hiding this moment from the most important person in her life.
"If it's not you, who will chaperone the ball this year?" Calista asked, breaking Larissa out of her thoughts.
"Gaia and Miss Mitchell." Larissa left the other topic aside and enjoyed the day with Calista.
"Gaia is well involved in Nevermore's affairs." Calista adjusted herself, lifting her head to look at Larissa.
"She is extremely competent and interested," Larissa commented. "For me, that's great. I don't intend to be a director for the rest of my life. Who knows, maybe she can take on that role later on."
"Do you intend to leave the directorship of the Academy?" This was news to Calista and surprised her on several levels. She knew how much Larissa loved school. "But you love that place."
"Indeed, my darling." Larissa agreed, looking into Calista's eyes. "I can go back to teaching. I'll have more free time for our family."
Calista didn't respond to it but wrapped her arms around Larissa and hugged her tight. Knowing that Larissa was willing to give up this position to dedicate herself to this new life gave Calista more certainty that the choice to get married and have a child was right.
"Thank you for that," Calista whispered in Larissa's ear, tickling her.
"For what, my love?" Larissa flinched briefly and closed her eyes as she felt the warm air in her ear.
"Giving up so much for us." She rested her head on Larissa's neck.
"I appreciate you allowing me to choose to do this," Larissa replied softly.
"The pleasure is mine." Calista giggled and gently kissed Larissa's lips.
Larissa reacted to the kiss, intensifying it and wrapping her arms around Calista's waist, pulling her close to her body. Calista happily consented to the tug.
"Bed. Now. No shifting today." Calista said between kisses.
"Yes, ma'am." Larissa laughed, jumping up and carrying Calista in her arms.
------
"You still haven't told me who you're going to the dance with," Calista asked Artemis as they walked through the aisles of a clothing store, looking for suitable dresses.
"Xavier," Artemis replied almost in a whisper, avoiding her mother's eyes. The girl was blushing heavily.
"No need to be shy!" Calista smiled, putting her arm around her daughter's waist. "He seems to be nice."
"It's not shyness." Artemis put her arm around her mother's shoulder. Now, they were walking side by side, synchronized. "It's nerves. I don't know. It's the first time someone has asked me to a dance. It's actually my first dance."
The girl's uneasiness was palpable. Before Nevermore, Artemis had no friends and, as such, was always absent from school gatherings. Calista wanted her daughter's first dance to be unforgettable, so she did her best to find the most beautiful dress. Furthermore, she wanted to know a little more about Xavier; after all, the boy's behavior would be decisive for a pleasant and memorable experience.
"So, tell me more about this boy, Xavier, what he's like?"
"He's fine." And the blush on Artemis's cheek was back. "He's quiet, he doesn't talk much, but he's curious. He likes to know what my life was like before school."
"What else?" Calista thought it was a good start for Xavier to be interested in Artemis.
"Hmm...let me see," Artemis pondered as she looked among the hangers and mannequins. He has psychic abilities, practices archery, and fencing, and is an artist. He is very good at painting and sketching. Enid often says he is a solitary artist."
"Artist? Interesting." Calista kept this information; an idea was already forming in her head. "But what about how he is with you? Besides being curious, how does he treat you?"
"He's always asking me how things are going and if I'm adapting. He offers me help with my studies. So, I think he treats me well, right?" Artemis looked for a response from Calista with a doubtful and anxious look.
"It's a good start," Calista reassured. "The important thing is that he respects who you are and that you feel good about him. And if you need anything, your mother and I will always be here."
"I know that. I appreciate it..." The girl stopped suddenly in front of a mannequin. Calista immediately knew this would be the perfect dress for a perfect night.
------
Larissa sat in an armchair in a small, dimly lit room with a small plastic pot in her right hand. A television was waiting to be turned on on the wall in front of her, and below it was a shelf with magazines to be leafed through. She had been led to this room minutes before by a male nurse with clear instructions on how to collect the sample for a spermogram. She was shifted into her masculine self, so it didn't even occur to the nurse that she was the school's principal for outcasts.
Alone in the small room of the clinical laboratory, Larissa returned to her natural shape, keeping only the complete male reproductive system shifted. It was a strange and slightly embarrassing feeling, but no one else knew she was there, so she grabbed the remote control, turned on the television, and flipped through the erotic channels until she found something that could help her. It would have been easier if Calista had been with her.
------
Finally, Rave'N night arrived. Calista had been anxious ever since Larissa asked her to the dance. Their last Rave'N had ended very badly, culminating in years of separation. But this time, everything was different. She and Larissa were back together, getting married, and even planning to have a child. Still, the memory of her adolescence caused her anxiety.
Even though Larissa didn't chaperone the dance, she and Calista decided to get ready in their rooms in Nevermore so they could be among the first to arrive. This way, Larissa could be available if Gaia and Samantha needed help. Deep down, she wishes they didn't need her because she would like to dedicate the night to Calista. However, as a principal, she must make herself ready to take action for setbacks.
Calista waited in Larissa's office while she waited for the other woman to finish getting ready. She was always faster than the future wife. That night, Calista, in fact, chose a dress, put on makeup, and did her hair. Larissa could simply shift into her party outfit, but keeping it shifted all night would take energy—energy that Larissa planned to spend otherwise. Therefore, Calista had to wait for Larissa almost 30 minutes after finishing getting ready. But the wait was worth it. Larissa looked beautiful in a blue dress that matched her eyes.
It was as if they were back in their teens, and this was their first Rave'N. Calista and Larissa arrived at the ballroom with a small group of students just as the dance began. Before they even looked for a table to sit down, Larissa went to Gaia and Samantha, praised the organization of the dance, and told them not to hesitate to call her if they needed it. Meanwhile, Calista awaited Larissa's return and looked around the hall, admiring the work done by Gaia and looking for Artemis.
The girl arrived arm in arm with Xavier. She was radiant. As soon as her eyes met his mother's, she poked the boy in the ribs and whispered something in his ear. The boy then nodded with a smile, and the two went towards Calista and Larissa.
"Hi, Mom. Hi, Director Weems." Artemis was visibly embarrassed and wanted to make that conversation as short as possible.
"Artemis! You look beautiful, darling." Larissa said with a smile. "And you look very elegant, Mr. Thorpe."
"Xavier, we haven't been properly introduced." Calista held out her hand. "Nice to meet you. I'm Calista, mother of Artemis."
"Hello, Mrs. Cos'Anto. It's my pleasure to meet you." The boy smiled at Calista.
"Artemis told me that you are an artist who paints pictures. Do you take orders?" This question surprised Artemis and Larissa, who looked at each other, looking for an explanation.
"Sure, why not?" The boy was restless about pleasing his prom date's mother.
"Great! So, we'll talk another time. You'll have fun." Calista smiled at an increasingly confused Artemis and dismissed them both.
"What are you up to, Lis?" Larissa asked, hugging Calista from behind and resting her cheek on the other's head.
"Me? Nothing! I'm just testing the boy's skills." Calista dodged the question, turned on her feet, faced Larissa, and passed her hand behind her neck. "Shall we dance, Miss Weems?"
Larissa decided not to press any further and smiled. "Let's dance, Mrs. Cos'Anto!"
After a traumatizing first, Rave'N, Calista, and Larissa were finally able to have fun even though they were no longer students, they danced all night, and Larissa forgot for a few hours about her responsibilities towards the Academy, even though many students greeted her warmly when they passed her. Before the night ended, Larissa thanked Gaia again for her efforts in organizing the event. Everything had gone very well. The students and teachers had fun, and there were no incidents like the previous year.
"Why don't you take advantage of the room's emptiness and ask Miss Mitchell for the last dance?" Larissa suggested before leaving.
"Would she accept?" Gaia asked, biting her lip in uncertainty.
"Something tells me yes." Larissa looked towards the corner of the room and saw Samantha looking at the two of them expectantly. Gaia followed Larissa's gaze and met Samantha's.
"Have a great end to the night, professors." Larissa smiled and went to join Calista, who was waiting for her at the room's exit.
Larissa and Calista walked through the halls of Nevermore hand in hand towards Larissa's quarters, talking about Rave'N.
"Thanks for the night, Riss," Calista said, sitting on the edge of the bed and removing her heels. "I am exhausted."
"Oh yeah? I was wondering if we could start our little project tonight." Larissa insinuated, starting to take off her dress.
"Project? Are you talking about having a baby?" A smile appeared at the corner of Calista's mouth as she understood what Larissa meant. "Don't you need to do the test first? To check if the shifting worked."
"It turns out I already did." Larissa let her dress fall to the floor, revealing her feminine body with only her sex entirely shifted. "The results came back today, and we are ready to try to have a baby."
"So, it looks like we won't be sleeping tonight." Calista stretched out her arms to welcome Larissa, kissing her passionately and taking her to bed.

WIP Wednesday (4/17/24)
Fandom: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reboot
Working Title: A Protege's Trust (link to the tag)
Pairing: Kyle 'Gaz' Garrick x Lisa 'Badger' Compton
Rating: E (eventually, but not in this snippet)
Synopsis:
CIA operative Lisa Compton is assigned to the 141 - it's her responsibility to help Laswell coordinate infill and exfill, gather crucial intel for the team and provide plausible cover stories when they get into tight spots. There's one problem: Sgt. Garrick is the most insufferable, unprofessional, bull-headed boy she's ever worked with. Gaz's an immaculate soldier, ready to jump at Price's order and launch himself into the fray with his mind focused on one thing: completing the mission. But when Laswell assigns the new CIA operative 'Badger' to their team, he can't stop flirting with her, thinking about her soft curves and sharp wit more often than focusing on the job at hand. Laswell won't approve her transfer to another team. Price is threatening to bench him. Badger and Gaz won't talk to - let alone look at- each other. Ghost thinks Badger's nickname should be 'Insufferable Yank.' Soap wants them to fuck it out already.
AKA: This'n's a good ol enemies to [???] to lovers with a sprinkling of other tropes for good measure. (Something something Price/Gaz being mirrored in Laswell/Compton? 👀) Credit to @pfhwrittes for collabing and feeding the brainworms. Short snippet because I don't have much written yet, but the plot's simmering there.

Station Chief Laswell stood quietly in the corner of the briefing room, surveying the group seated in the briefing room. Her fingers idly tapped along the edge of her folder, watching operatives mutter alongside soldiers, the chatter covering the struggling projector on the table.
Captain Price rocked on his feet on the other side of the screen. “All right, settle in.” His voice snuffed out the conversations, chairs scuffling and people settling in the following silence. One last bark of laughter echoed across the space. “Garrick–”
“Sorry Sir.”
Lisa huffed softly to herself as she caught Sergeant MacTavish punching Sergeant Garrick in the arm and the returned scowl.
At least one of the 141 seemed to want to take this seriously.

WIP Wednesday
Thank you @nerdieforpedro @undercoverpena @thelightsandtheroses @frenchiereading and @trulybetty for the tags!
I actually have something to share this week! It can be read as a standalone OR as a continuation of Turbulence OR as a deleted scene between Chapters 15 & 16 of Delta Landscaping. (I know, obnoxious, but in some way all of my fics are connected. It's just how my brain works 🫣). This will also be part of the April Showers Challenge too.
So without further ado...Weathered In...
“Hey, can you talk?” he chewed on his thumb. He happened to call her at a good time, she and Tim were wrapping up at a crime scene.
“Yeah…espérate…sorry, I'm back, left Tim with the paperwork so he’s going to be in a great mood when we’re done,” she chuckled, pausing when she heard the hustle and bustle of what sounded like an airport on the other end of the phone. “Qué pasa Paco? Where are you?”
Frankie smirked, there was never getting anything past his sister. There's a reason why she was one of the best detectives in Dallas. “I’m…uh…at the airport.”
I'm late to the game so open tags to anyone who wants to share!

Paybacks a Wednesday (Part I)
Pairing: Wednesday x Male Reader
Summary: You wake up in your room battered and bruised from being ambushed in town. Wednesday finds out who did it and its going to get revenge. You don't hurt what belongs to Wednesday
WordCount: 1.5k words
WARNINGS: Violence, Blood, Ambush,
Tumblr media
It's late afternoon and classes have already ended. Y/N is laying in Their bed in their large single dorm room, currently wearing bandages on their cheek, forehead, torso and hands. Then he hears some loud footsteps down the hallway.
"Oh lord..." He thinks to himself. You know who is exactly coming through that door.
Then bang! The dorm room swings open and who do they see? Their lovely raven of a girlfriend Wednesday Addams with her roommate Enid Sinclair and Thing following right behind her.
"Hey Guys...how's it going...?" Y/N says in a pained voice as he does his best to sit up..
"O M G...Y/N! When we heard we didn't think it was this bad.." says Enid holding a black bag to her chest.
Wednesday stomps straight to Y/N's bedside and sits on the edge of the bed. She grabs his face checks and his head and feels for anything broken then checks his torso. She hasn't said a word yet but after her examination, she sighs of relief.
"Enid...bag" Wednesday instructs she moves over to the other side of the bed and buts the black bag down. Thing hops off of Enid's shoulder and starts tapping and climbing on the bag instructing Wednesday that he is ready to help.
"Who did this to you?" She says as begins to take the bandages off Y/N face. "Thing grab the antiseptic, a cotton ball, the ointment and fresh bandages"
Thing does a thumbs up and hops in the bag bringing out everything she asked for.
"Its not that bad....I....Just fell down some stairs" Y/N say to her trying to stay strong
"Y/N stairs dont do that to you Y/N" says Enid with a worried look on her face.
"Are you going to tell me the truth or are you going to keep lying to me?" said Wednesday as her cold half-dead face looked at Y/N but for some reason, it was even colder than normal. She was your girlfriend and you can't lie to her.
Y/N let out a sigh,"It was some of the normie kids while I was going out shopping. I went to the Weathervane to get us some coffee and some pastries then they caught me outside on my way back to Nevermore. " he says as Wednesday removes his bandages revealing wounds and scars on his skin. "Being called an outcast doesn't hurt as much cause that's what we are but being called a *****....that kinda hurt" Wednesday reaches for the antiseptic and a cotton ball and pours a bit of antiseptic on it. She takes the cotton ball and lightly puts it over the wound on his forehead. He wince a bit in pain but it goes away after a moment.
"To think people would stoop so low to attack you in broad daylight. I just....Raaah" says Enid as her claws come out. Enid has cared for Y/N and Wednesday and has always been a fantastic friend to help him with his girlfriend. Even before Y/N started dating Wednesday she knew the two of them would be perfect.
"Enid calm down....Also your claws are showing." Enid looked down "Oops..u-uh" she stuttered and her nails became shorter. "Kitty claws come out sometimes" Enid chuckled nervously
Wednesday continued to care for Y/N's wounds. Thing walked up to to Y/N and began to pat on the bed asking if he was ok.
"Dont worry Thing, it will take more than just a couple punches and kicks to take me down" Y/N says confidently. Thing does a few gestures meaning that you were a strong man and brave. "Appreciate it Thing" They fist bump with a few other moves. Thing has always been a good guide in helping Y/N understand Wednesday and her subtle quirks that can be translated as emotions. Like when she stomps harder than usual she is mad, When she stares in a direction and doesn't blink for more than 16 seconds she's mad, and so on and so on.
Wednesday grabs an ointment that Thing took out. The Ointment was in a steel tin and doesn't look to be store-bought. Wednesday opens the tin to see a cream-like substance but has a foul smell. Y/N takes a whiff "Ugh what is that?" he says with a disgusted tone.
"Its an ointment that my grandmother created. It has aloe and some other herbs" Wednesday explained as she dipped two fingers in the substance.
Enid was making a disgusted face due to the smell. "Ugh I cant do this anymore. Im going to go get Y/N some food. Come On Thing" she said. Thing didn't hesitate and hopped onto Enid's shoulder. "We be back soon" she said as he left the two in the room.
As Wednesday was about to apply the ointment to Y/N head wound. She had a flash and then found herself at the Weathervane.
She sees Y/N walk into the Coffee shop and orders a couple drinks and food. Seems like he was happy and having a fantastic day. Y/N took out his phone and smiled at his lock screen which was Wednesday with her signature scowl reading a book by a dead tree. Y/N's order was up he grabbed the items he purchased. But Wednesday felt a bit happy that Y/N loved her, but something wasn't right, she looked around the Weathervane from booth to booth to see if anyone was plotting. She looked by the window and saw some boys dressed up in football varsity jackets. Wednesday couldn't hear what they were saying but they were pointing at Y/N. When Y/N turned around they went around the corner and waited for him to come out.
Y/N opened the door and walked down the street heading back to Nevermore but the boys came out the said and tailed him from a distance. After a few minutes, they made it to a street where there was no one on. This street leads out of the town and is usually where the Nevermore kids would call an uber up to the school. But Y/N never had a chance.
Fast like a lightning bolt, Y/N was hit with a rock straight to his head. He dropped all the items he had and fell to the ground on his knees. He held his head and looked down at his hands to see blood. Wednesday gasped seeing the sight. Then the boys showed up "Well looked who it is, another Nevermore Freak. Why do you guys keep showing up here? We know what you are! And you are ******" He said as his spit on Y/N. Y/N was so disoriented "Guys, come on we don't have to resort to this," he says as he raises up his hands. One of the boys takes a bat and smacks his hand with it. Y/N yells in pain, their hand was smashed from the blow. "Dont act like you are normal! YOU ARE A MONSTER!.....I don't know why I'm even talking to this trash.......Get him" The boys began to kick and punch and beat on Y/N.
Wednesday watched in horror and anger she wanted to make them pay. She looked at Y/N looking to reach for his phone that wasn't too far from the dropped coffee and pastries. All Y/N could see is Wednesday's face on the screen. Then a voice yelled down the street Wednesday turned around and saw Xavier running down the street. "GET AWAY FROM HIM" he yelled.
"Dustin we gotta go" one of the boys said "Say away from our town freak or I'm gonna finish the job." the other said as they ran.
"Hey Y/N, stay with me....hey...." as Xavier's voice started to fade out and Wednesday found herself back in the room with a wounded Y/N
"Hey Wednesday.... you ok?" Y/N asked
Wednesday was looking at Y/N and let a tear fall down her face. She wiped her tear with a free hand and rubbed the rest of the ointment on her finger on Y/N's forehead wound where the rock hit.
"Put the rest of that on you and get some rest" Wednesday said as she began to pack her things up but left some bandages for him.
"Where are you going?" Y/N asked
"I left some things that i need to collect from class. " She replied
Y/N knew something was right but the ointment seemed to have some properties and they felt a but woozy as he took a deep breath and laid back into his pillow.
"Be safe" he said
Wednesday turned to Y/N and moved closer to his face and kissed him on the lip so softly as if she applied to much pressure it would break. "I will...Mon Cher" she whispers as she sees Y/N is drifted off to sleep.
She left his dorm room and took out her phone and texted Xavier and Enid "Meet me in the NIghtShade room in 10 mins and get everyone else" She closes the phone and begins to walk down the stone hallways.
"No one hurts what is mine" Wednesday said with a dark tone that could shake the long dead out of their coffin.

A Court of Snow And Shadow || Coming Soon
Tentative stability has descended over Prythian – the first the land has seen in hundreds of years.  Despite the looming threats – Koschei slumbers across a distant sea, and Beron Vanserra bides his time in Autumn – for now, there is time for those of the Night Court to bask in the sunshine that is peace. But dangers lurk just beyond the shadows, hidden amongst old friends and old foes alike. Azriel knows what is like to be consumed in darkness – learned from a young age how to stare back into it.  How to sing until the darkness bowed to him and sang back.  While his friends and family bask in their sun and the day, the spymaster of the Night Court doesn’t just live within the night; he is consumed by it. He can handle the darkness in a new threat to Prythian that lies within the heart of another, still-healing, court – Winter. If he can handle being mated to the half-mad female he finds right smack in the center of all of it, well, that may be another story.

Pushing Towards You
Chapter 21: Visiting Week
Tumblr media
Calista needed to get back to her daily routine. After almost two weeks at home and experiencing opposite feelings with all the latest events, duty called her. Now, she was wearing a ring on her right hand after Larissa's marriage proposal at the New Year's party. Every time she looked at her hand, a smile appeared. Her coworkers caught her standing in the middle of a hallway several times, admiring her ring and remembering that night.
She also returned to her apartment. Although the days she spent with Larissa at Nevermore were pleasant, classes were about to start again, and she wanted to keep her personal life distinct from her future wife's work. With that, Larissa also returned to her routine, Nevermore during the day, Calista's house at night.
Both Calista and Larissa were expecting a visit from the shapeshifter who impregnated her partner using her shifter abilities. The two intend to go to Calista's apartment on the first weekend of the year to discuss how the child's conception process went. However, the partner did not attend the meeting because she felt uncomfortable. So, right after lunch on Saturday, the shapeshifter arrived at Calista's apartment alone.
She went by the name Rebeca. The two shapeshifters that Calista knew had the same characteristics: extremely tall, thin but robust, blonde and blue eyes. Rebeca was the opposite of that. The woman had black, wavy hair, dark eyes, and a short stature, but she was strong; Calista could see her strong arms sticking out of her shirt sleeve. Larissa's eyes roamed Rebeca's body, looking for something resembling hers. She also didn't know other shapeshifters.
Like Larissa, Rebeca was the first in her family to exhibit shifting skills. Still, unlike the experience of the principal of Nevermore, Rebeca received support from her family and, in this way, got closer to others with the same ability and learned from them. So, getting her wife pregnant wasn't a question of 'if,' just 'when' because she already knew how the process went.
Rebeca was American, but she knew shapeshifters all over the globe. They had a communication network between them, as they were considered outcasts among outcasts. Mutual support helped maintain the community and exchange experiences and knowledge. Larissa took a deep interest in this community of shapeshifters. In this way, Rebeca spent the first hours of the meeting explaining how the exchange of information took place and what the discussions promoted by the group were like.
Calista knew how vital the connection between the two shapeshifters was to Larissa. Having a shapeshifter daughter and probably a second child who would also be one, she would like her family to be able to find refuge among their peers. As much as Calista supported Artemis and Larissa, deep down, she didn't have the knowledge to help them with issues involving the barriers to their abilities.
Rebeca seemed happy to present this new perspective and was impressed with Larissa's knowledge of the species despite not being among them yet. The literature on shapeshifting was full of prejudices, and shapeshifters were sometimes seen as cheats and deceivers. Access to reliable information required an intense and endless search for books and articles. Calista knew that Larissa had always been highly dedicated to studying shapeshifters, but listening to Rebeca, she knew that the headmistress had earned the visitor's respect, and she couldn't be more proud.
Rebeca's wife was also a shapeshifter. They met during group meetings and learned together the strengths and weaknesses of the species. Thus, Rebeca was shocked when she discovered that Calista was a different outcast. Her experience taught her that it was easier for normies to accept and relate to shifters than outcasts themselves. Calista was one of a kind, and Larissa knew it.
For both Calista and Larissa, Nevermore was pivotal in their relationship. There, they met and became friends. Calista was the first and, for a long time, the only one who knew of Larissa's abilities. Being her roommate, Morticia eventually finds out and uses this knowledge for her benefit despite keeping it a secret. The other students were never interested in Larissa; they thought she was too bizarre and a shadow of Morticia, so she never had much difficulty hiding who she was.
Rebeca's education was all done at a normie school. However, being from an outcast family and participating in a community of shapeshifters, she never felt the need to study in outcast-only institutions. She knew Nevermore's fame the respect and importance of the school, but her youthful curiosity was never awakened, and her family did not see the need to isolate the girl from the rest of the world.
As the conversation progressed, Artemis occasionally became the main topic. Calista told Rebeca how similar the girl was to Larissa, even though they were not mother and daughter. Upon seeing a photograph of the girl, Rebeca was stunned, and her endless list of questions made Calista retell her entire story with Larissa and Gaia. The possibility of Artemis being a chimera and having inherited Larissa's powers when shifters occur spontaneously excited Rebeca. She needed to report this discovery to the community.
Larissa and Calista were not opposed to disclosing the information but were concerned about the girl's reaction. Furthermore, Dr. Maina had yet to announce the results of the genetic tests. Rebeca understood all the issues surrounding this matter and promised not to take this matter to the shifter community until appropriate. Artemis should also agree. Still, she asked permission to share the information with her wife, and Calista and Larissa understood this partnership very well and allowed it.
The conditions that led to Artemis' shapeshifter inheritance allowed Calista and Larissa to ask Rebeca how her daughter's conception occurred. It was evident that all paths would lead to this subject sooner or later, and by the time Rebeca's story began, the three already felt comfortable talking about personal matters. As Calista was not a shifter, the basic knowledge of the species needed to be shared.
Rebeca began her story by recalling that a shapeshifter occurs spontaneously and, therefore, can be descended from normies or other outcasts. The fact that Artemis inherited this ability from Larissa and yet they are not mother and daughter is, until that moment, the only event known to Rebeca, and, therefore, both she and Dr. Maina are interested in the case.
Shifter knows their abilities from a very early age. Sudden mood swings or hormonal changes make them susceptible to an unintentional shift. That's how most people find out. And from the moment it occurs, the perception of oneself increases. A shapeshifter feels every part of your body. The discomforts, the pains, the pleasures are intensely felt. Therefore, it is common for the most marginalized individuals to use drugs and alcohol to numb. Neurodepressant medications can also be used and give the sensation of sensory loss. Calista remembered that Artemis couldn't feel her entire head when she needed to be anesthetized after the Christmas accident.
Once they know their abilities, simply contact the target for the shift to occur. The newer the shapeshifter is, the less control they have, and life energy is quickly drained. Therefore, it is common for shifter children to sleep more, feel hungrier, and prefer high-energy foods. In the case of Larissa and Artemis, hot chocolate is the primary source of energy replenishment, as Calista recalled.
It is with genetic material that the shapeshifter learns to transform into another person. But, the change is only superficial at first. Teaching the body to function and behave properly is necessary, so practice and observation of the target are essential. As the shifter transforms into the same person several times, the similarities become greater until there comes a time when it is impossible to distinguish one from the other. From then on, it is possible to change only one part of the body when shift control is total, as the intended anatomy is known.
Improving skills comes from constantly changing shape and studying anatomy and physiology. There are shapeshifters whose primary form is unknown since a new identity was created with the mastery of their abilities. These are the most assertive individuals; the path is more effortless for them. But in theory, all shapeshifters can change their real identity and maintain it for long periods.
It was during these studies that Rebeca and her wife discovered that they would be able to conceive a child themselves. However, she needed to transform into a man entirely, spend enough time in that form, and behave in a masculine way long enough for her body to learn to function like a male body. And it was precisely this information that caught Larissa and Calista by surprise.
The anatomical change that Larissa performed was superficial. Only a tiny part of her body changed; the rest was still her natural form. For Larissa to acquire the ability to impregnate Calista, she needed to learn how a man's body worked and not just a small part. That was the big challenge. Neither Calista nor Larissa had been sexually involved with men, so the total anatomical and physiological change brought a certain discomfort to both of them.
When Rebeca and her wife learned that this was how conception would occur, neither of them objected. They had already had relationships with men before, so this was not an impediment. Rebeca's wife demanded that she transform into someone completely unknown, and with that, Rebeca learned to modify her appearance, creating a totally new identity based on her physical characteristics.
Creating a new self for Larissa wouldn't be a problem because that's how she mastered the art of modifying just her genitals. However, she had never used her male form long enough to have sexual experiences. It was the first time Calista had heard this information, and her curiosity to know Larissa's male form was sparked. After all, it would still be Larissa. She saved this information for a time when the two were alone and turned her attention to Rebeca.
It was not necessary to have sexual intercourse for the body to acquire these abilities, Rebeca pointed out assertively. Masturbation as a man would teach the body, but the process would be slower. The performance of the sexual act would be a shorter path to total transformation. Only after acquiring complete anatomical and physiological knowledge of a male individual would Larissa be able to impregnate Calista using her natural form.
"I know the information causes strangeness and discomfort," Rebeca said at the end of the conversation. "But you need to know the whole process and be aware of what you must do to conceive a child of your own."
"We're in this together," Calista said, grabbing Larissa's hand and looking her in the eyes. "And we'll do whatever it takes together."
Before leaving, Rebeca passed on the contact details of some members of the shapeshifter community to Larissa and was available to help her join the group if she so desired. The community was receptive, and with Larissa running a school for outcasts, it would be easy to fit in without needing to involve her history with Artemis and Calista.
Calista wanted Larissa to form closer ties with other shifters and knew this support would also be necessary for her children. Larissa had a challenging childhood, being rejected by her prejudiced family and having to learn about herself alone, without help, and with almost no friends. Therefore, she promised Rebeca that Larissa would keep in touch with the other shifters and thanked her for her willingness to travel to Jericho to help them.
For Larissa, all of that was too much information. She was ecstatic. Now, she knew how to use her skills to get Calista pregnant, even if it might cause her embarrassment. The people who saw her male form didn't realize it was Larissa. Not even Morticia knew it, as Larissa had created this new identity when she attended university.
It had been years since Larissa had transformed into her male self; she had already forgotten what her body looked like with masculine features. Therefore, she preferred to have her first experiences alone. Calista understood this need. Of course, she would like to participate in the whole process. Of course, she was curious to see Larissa's male form, but she knew her beloved's limitations, insecurity, and self-consciousness. Thus, she accepted Larissa got used to her masculine self again before she could show it.
After Rebeca's visit, Dr. Maina contacted Calista to inform her that the genetic test results were ready. He wanted to reunite with her, Larissa, Artemis, and Gaia again to publicize them. But Calista didn't wish for the new meeting to occur at the Hospital again. She was already fed up with this hospital environment. So, Larissa suggested they meet at her office in Nevermore, and Dr. Maina was happy to accept the invitation.
On a weekend afternoon, when the students were free to visit the city, Dr. Maina arrived at the Academy and was welcomed by Larissa and Calista at the school doors. The time was chosen precisely to avoid the geneticist meeting with the students, preventing speculation about his visit from being made and preserving the privacy of Artemis and Gaia. Furthermore, Larissa would like to show the Nevermore facilities to the Doctor since it was his first visit.
The doctor was impressed with the school's infrastructure. The biology laboratory was what caught his attention the most. Larissa was a proud principal of her school and showed every corner of the buildings, telling about their history and talking about the students' curriculum. The painting and music rooms were also to Dr. Maina's liking as he was a profound lover of the arts. But it was the library that brought a broad smile from the doctor. The books covered diverse knowledge of the life and culture of the outcasts. Of course, there were volumes on the life sciences and normies, but that would be the case in any other library. Nevermore had a vast collection when it came to outcasts, and this did not go unnoticed in the doctor's eyes.
At the end of the visit, Larissa and Dr. Maina were arranging a master class for the beginning of the next academic year and the selection of the best students in the science area for an internship in his laboratory. Calista considered it another demonstration of Larissa's love and dedication to the school. She accompanied the two during the visit and saw nothing less than a passionate Larissa presenting Nevermore as a proud mother of a son; the favorable outcome came naturally.
After the visit, the three met with Artemis and Gaia in Larissa's office for a conversation and afternoon tea in front of the fireplace. Unlike in the last meeting between them, Artemis was now calm and confident. Her physical appearance was not changed, and the girl looked serene. However, she was anxious to hear the results of the exams — Dr. Maina was not a man to beat around the bush, so as soon as they were seated and before they had even helped themselves to tea, he opened the envelope that contained the information that the other four wanted to hear.
The genetic test demonstrated what the doctor already suspected. Artemis was a chimera and possessed the genetic material of Calista, the sperm donor, and Larissa. The percentage of Larissa's genetic material was insufficient for the two to have any degree of kinship. Still, the transferred genes were predominant and determined that Artemis's physical characteristics and shapeshifting ability were identical to Larissa's. The doctor also confirmed, among his contacts, that the donor was indeed a normie, as he previously identified himself.
The answer to Artemis's genetic makeup lay in Calista. In all ten eggs collected by Dr. Maina, Larissa's genes were observed in the same chromosomal patterns. However, there was genetic variability on Calista's part during her gamete formation. Larissa's genes continued to be present in the same positions and quantities.
Thus, if they could conceive a child, it would have the same dominant characteristics presented by Artemis and Larissa. However, this new life would not be considered a chimera, as it would only have the genetic material of Calista and Larissa. Thus, there was a chance that some of Calista's genes would stand out over others of Larissa.
All of this information was familiar to them, so there was no surprise as the doctor detailed the results. The big question was how Larissa's genetics and Calista's imprinted eggs would influence the genetics of a possible future child. When asked about the process, the two said they were studying the possibilities, but neither wanted to mention Rebeca's visit.
Artemis was very excited about possibly having a brother or sister like her. For someone who spent much of her life feeling like she didn't have a place in the world, she now envisioned a life where she felt welcomed. Her mothers, although divorced, got along well. She and Larissa had created a bond of friendship and companionship beyond genetic similarities. And now there was the real chance of a sibling. The girl was over the moon.
With two critical visits in the first two weeks of the year, Calista can imagine the next few months would be busy. She and Larissa were now tasked with planning a wedding celebration and conceiving a child. For Calista, the wedding alone would be reason enough to make her nervous and anxious. Still, she saw a very confident and excited Larissa and knew she would have all the support she needed to deal with the coming changes.

Trying my hand at writing once more. Of course, I’ve been obsessing over Wednesday so why not try posting this story I’ve been thinking of?
A little backstory on my character (Dani) - she has healing abilities which is why (she was sent away to Nevermore under the protection of Principal Meyer (another OC I made up for the sake of this). Her abilities are keep a secret even from her classmates. She is cut off from her family, and of course she has a crush on Larissa too. Ultimately she has to keep her abilities secret just in case the normies ever found out. Honestly though, if you had the insane ability to heal by any means how fast do you think the government would try to bottle you? Personally, I don’t know if I’ll keep adding to this but I just wanted to get the idea out there.
Dani knew Larissa and Morticia were close but the gossip at the school was that the falling out began with Gomez Addams. The night of that fateful Rave’N Dance where Garrett Gates died, Dani had worn a maroon pantsuit and her hair curled, she’d felt so normal for once. At least as much as she could in a school for outcasts. But once it came to dancing and interacting with her peers she felt as if she had imposter syndrome. Was this personality really her? Is she really this personable? As she talks and mingles she finds herself sitting with Larissa. Her friend Teddy bring the two into the same conversation, the three of them laughing until Teddy leaves to dance with her date.
“I’m glad you’ve set aside your books for the evening.” Larissa comments, appreciating the soft waves on the brunette before her.
Dani blushes, crossing her legs and trying to keep her eyes anywhere but on Larissa.
“Principal Meyer threatened to take back my studio room if I didn’t get involved more.”
Larissa laughs, friendly and polite but there’s a tug to her smile that makes it seem forced. Dani’s heart falls, noticing the depths that Larissa’s gaze withdraws to.
“I’m sorry, I hope I’m not monopolizing your time.” Dani shrinks herself away, head downcast and fingers fidgeting as she stands. “Your date probably misses you.” Dani tries to leave quickly, slipping out of her chair only to be stopped by Larissa’s hand grabbing her’s.
“I’m sorry.” Larissa drops her hand as if she’s touching fire. “Actually I don’t have a date.” Larissa looks to the floor, embarrassed.
“Riddle me surprised.” Dani cringes inwardly. “Sorry that sounded very corny.”
Larissa smiles at Dani’s attempt at conversation. “You’re fine.”
“Well if it’s an consolation, he missed out.” Dani remarks, gesturing to the shimmer of Larissa’s dress. That earns her a short lived smile. The sight of Morticia Frump and Gomez Addams taking center stage on the dance floor draws everyone’s attention and a fiery glare from Larissa.
Dani admits Morticia is beautiful in her own way, but the sight of Larissa beside her shining like a star tarnishes anything Dani could see in Morticia. She weighs her words, thinking of a way to offer her some type of comfort. Although the sound of your crush admitting their feelings for someone else is never easy to take.
“I think Gomez has different tastes in women than you’d hoped.” Larissa glares at Dani while she watches Morticia and Gomez end their dance, slipping away. “But I also think he’s an idiot for passing up any chance with you.”
Larissa’s gaze softens as Dani speaks, but she doesn’t notice, not daring to look at Larissa as she spills her heart. Dani can’t fully comprehend what it means to be a shapeshifter, but she’s overheard the numerous times a person’s asked her to shift into someone else. By some chance, this is her opportunity to let Larissa know she’s being seen. She takes a deep breath, diving head first into what she’s about to say.
“He can’t see how wonderful you are because he’s looking for something else. As much as you want him to look for Larissa - he’s only looking for Morticia.” Larissa blinks away all emotions as her eyes water. “But there’s someone out there that appreciates you for everything you are. That won’t ask for you to change your appearance to suit them better.” Her eyes widen. “Someone who sees you for the marvel that you are, just as you are.” Dani bites her lip as Larissa seems to search her face. “You’re beautiful Larissa. Maybe you don’t feel like it because you want to be his definition of it - but to me you are.”
Dani falters as she meets Larissa’s eyes, her heart hammering as the realization dawns on her soft features. Dani clears her throat.
“I mean you’re bright, you’re lively - hell, you’ve tolerated me sitting and rambling -”
“Dani.” Larissa squeezes her hand.
“Larissa, you won’t believe what Josiah asked me.” Dani and Larissa separate as Teddy suddenly returns for a sip of her drink.
“Sorry, am I interrupting?”
Larissa and Dani scramble to explain their close proximity at Teddy’s sudden appearance. Dani standing up and muttering about a paper she’d forgotten to submit, much to Larissa’s disappointment.
Dani weaves through the crowded dance floor like water, leaving Larissa to barely tolerate Teddy’s conversation any longer than a moment.
God I finally get to talk to her longer than a minute and I just absolutely sell my soul to her! Just poured all that out to her. Now of course she knows how you feel about her and then what!? You just took off. Walked away.
Dani fights her inner voice, berating herself from within as she walks through the rainy courtyard to the opposite side to retreat to her room. At least there she’ll be spared from having to think of her lacking social skills.
“Dani!”
She stops on the steps of the courtyard, watching Larissa put up her umbrella to meet her. Dani’s chest tightens, her breath caught in her throat. Larissa smiles at her, Dani’s heart catching as she draws closer, ethereal in her shimmering dress. Her hair beautifully sculpted to sweep across her temple. She’s like a dream.
And then the body hits the ground. A resounding splat in the mud that deafens even the thunder.
Dani’s eyes widen as Larissa screams at the top of her lungs, drawing the attention of the Rave’N dance attendees. But Dani’s eyes are on the boy lying in the grass at Larissa’s feet.
Like a puppet on strings, Dani steps into the rain. Mud squelches under her feet, her heels sinking so deep that she walks out of them. As if in slow motion she approaches the boy, her fingertips burning with white light as she outstretches her hand to pull the boy back from the brink.
Her torso is yanked aside, falling sideways into the watered ground beneath her. Principal Meyer’s glare is furious, drawing Dani back to reality. She looks behind her Principal to Larissa, the senior watching Meyer and her with fear and concern.
Dani drops her gaze and Meyer relents, chaos and fear erupting like a sprung well. Principal Meyer dismisses the dance and the students but Dani and Larissa are taken to make their statements for the Normie Police.
Meyer and Dani lock eyes as their Principal leads them into the Police Station, a look that doesn’t go unnoticed by Larissa.
Dani can hardly think, this boy is dead, at a school dance no less. And now here she is with Larissa Weems of all people. She was so close, all she needed to do was meet her in the middle…
And yet, she was so close when the Gates boy died. She could have saved him…
Evangeline would argue otherwise though, no doubt she’d scold her for nearly revealing herself.
——— ——— ——— ———
“What was that the other night?” Larissa breathes, Dani briefly meets Larissa’s urgent gaze. The senior towering over her in the library alcove she’d just dragged her into.
A well manicured hand had slipped over her mouth as a long arm snaked over her arms, her back pressed into the strong frame of her assailant. She was walked back into the alcove, the hand still pressed over her mouth as her captor lodged her into the corner, using their body to pin her. Truthfully she didn’t think Larissa would do this in such a public space. Albeit the library is the least used space at the school, all of this technology reliance…
“Dani.” Larissa’s voice brings her out of her thoughts. “I have some questions and I don’t think Principal Meyer would be overly fond of you answering.” Dani glances at her hand still over her mouth and the curves of her chest pressing her into the corner still. Larissa nods with a cheeky smirk, stepping back an inch at a time, ensuring Dani won’t run. Once her feet touch the ground again she huffs, fixing her uniform.
Admittedly though if these were different circumstances she might have enjoyed this side of Larissa.
Larissa snaps her fingers, drawing her out of her admiration. “Focus. That night. Your hands were glowing.”
Dani remains silent, Larissa huffing irritably.
“What was it? Why were they glowing?”
“You’re confused -“
“You’re an awful liar.”
Dani stares into the bright blue pools boring into her average brown. Dani grips Larissa’s arm, the senior reciprocating the action as Dani peeks out of the alcove to ensure they’re alone. The aisle is empty but the sounds of books being reshelved aren’t far off.
Dani returns to the piercing gaze of Larissa Weems. Unrelenting, towering, engulfing and intoxicating. Although that last feeling could just be her’s alone. But still, she’s carried this secret so long. None but her family and Principal Meyer know the extent of it. She doesn’t have to reveal the whole truth of her abilities…
“I’m a healer.” She whispers, her words ghosting through Larissa’s brain before her eyes close, her lips turning upwards into a smirk.
“Outcasts aren’t healers.”
“Outcasts aren’t a set definition.”
“Very philosophical of you. Now would you like to tell me the truth? The real truth too, not some garbage answer you’ve dug up in a book.”
“Fine. Don’t believe me.” Dani slides out of her grip like water, stunning Larissa at how effortlessly she breaks free.
“Dani.” She grabs her arm, leading her forcefully out of the library. “The truth. Now.”
“I told you the truth.” Dani snaps, yanking her arm out of the towering girl’s grip. Larissa stands to her full height looking down on her.
“Now you’re only 1 of 5 people that know.”
Dani storms off, furious to have opened herself up to Larissa, leaving herself so exposed and at the mercy of one of her peers. An idiotic idea.
She storms off towards her studio space, hidden away behind a towering portrait of a phoenix near Principal Meyer’s office. She presses the heel of her shoe into a stone in the hall, the portrait swinging open to reveal a doorway to her studio.
It’s well lit at all times of the day, with towering windows overlooking the school’s grounds below. Her research on medicines and poisons is scattered all around the room on various boards, bookshelves laden with various medical journals and textbooks stand behind her like sentinels as she flops into her desk.
She clutches her head in her hands, wondering how in the world she’ll be able to explain this to Evangeline later. The portrait guarding her studio swings open, Dani springing to her feet to meet the intruder.
Dani can already tell by the footsteps that Larissa followed her. The older teen takes in the sight of her studio before she finally looks at her standing in the middle.
“Lovely space you have.”
“What are you doing here?”
“I needed proof. Consider me unconvinced.”
“Then you’ll never be convinced.” Dani returns to find where she left off in her research, tucking herself into her desk once more as Larissa joins her, looking over the papers scattered on her desk.
“I just want physical proof.” Larissa sits on the desk, watching the red blush bloom on Dani’s cheeks.
“I don’t condone people getting hurt and I won’t condone it just to give you any proof.”
Larissa pauses, picking up a stack of papers and thumbing through them.
“Then let me ask some questions.”
Dani meets Larissa’s inquisitive gaze. “Fine.”
“What can you heal?”
Dani treads lightly, unsure if she can trust her fully.
“Cuts.”
“Any details would be interesting.”
“Any cuts.” Dani’s fails to meet Larissa’s eyes.
“Breaks?”
A pause. “No.” Dani frowns, furrowing her brows.
“Sprains?”
Again a pause. “No.” Dani looks anywhere but at Larissa.
Larissa stares at Dani, reading her just as easily like any of the books on her shelves. “You really are a terrible liar.”
Dani grits her teeth as she debates, weighing her options. With a sigh she relents, Larissa tilting her head with a sudden smile.
Dani with her guarded exterior acting in self-preservation. Defensive from birth, told to do so by everyone who she’s ever cared for. Larissa can see it, understanding now.
“You’re secret is safe with me.” She whispers, losing herself in those chocolate eyes. Dani blinks, relief welling like a spring in her. Dani continues to watch her and Larissa analyzes her chalk boards filled with diagrams of flowers and plants, toxic and non.
“Would you like to know what I’m doing?” Dani asks, joining Larissa at her side, gesturing to the boards.
Larissa nods with a smile, eagerly watching the brunette move about.
Dani proceeds to discuss her research into cataloging herself. The number of poisons she’s ingested and healed herself of, the extents she’s gone to understand herself. They find themselves sitting on the rug at the foot of the chaise lounge Principal Meyer gifted her for the room, the pair reading and doing class work together.
Larissa thumbs through her book, searching for the page she’d read her information from so she may cite it correctly. She flips the page of the old textbook too fast, gasping as quietly as she can despite the sting of the paper slicing her skin.
Dani looks up from her paper she’s writing, looking at the hand Larissa is still staring at.
Dani’s finger tips glow with bright white light as she pauses.
“May I?”
Larissa nods, removing the handkerchief spotted with tiny drops of blood. Her finger bleeds from the cut without pressure.
Dani’s fingers are warm as she takes Larissa’s hand in her’s, running her fingers over the miniscule cut that disappears in one soft caress.
Dani smiles, Larissa watching in amazement as Dani’s fingers dull to her normal skin tone.
“I know you said my secret is safe with you but…please don’t tell Principal Meyer. At least not until I get the courage to do so.”
“Dani to what extent can you really heal someone?” Larissa breathes, marveling at the brunettes as she diverts her eyes.
“I’m not sure.” Dani admits, her face attention carpet beneath them. “That’s what I’ve been trying to figure out.” Dani gestures over her shoulder to the boards displaying her research.
The silence is almost deafening as Dani weighs the pros and cons.
“I came to Nevermore because I’d made a deal with my family.” Larissa leans closer, hanging on her every word. “My sister’s kidneys were failing. My abilities were the family secret that would pose a threat to my safety. If word ever got out of an outcast with the ability to heal by any means…” Dani trails off, watching Larissa’s reaction. The pair seem to think of the same thing. Normie and outcast relationships have always been tense, there are still some parts of the world that deal in torture, exile or even worse when they find an outcast. It doesn’t take much thought to realize how badly things could turn if Dani was ever found out. Imagine if she were, only to be overwhelmed by the sick, fought over by whatever governing body, experimented on…
Dani shrinks at the thought, her shoulders drooping. Larissa takes her hand, assuring her that she’s safe.
“I made the deal that if I could heal her I’d agree to be sent away. They could pretend I’d died, or ran away. Anything. I just wanted to help her. Sure the doctors might call her a marvel or a miracle but she’d be healthy.“
Larissa nods, squeezing Dani’s hand as she falters. The pair continue to hold hands as Dani recounts her tale, how her sister was healed over night and the fallout as the doctor’s were amazed.
“I miss them. But she’s doing so well. She’s married now.” Dani finishes.
“There’s no way you could visit? Not even secretly?”
“Maybe. In the future.” Dani sighs. “This was just 3 years ago and people still marvel at her recovery. You know how it goes. As good as my abilities are, there’s still the potential for things to go so wrong.” Dani curls into herself as they sit, homework abandoned. “It seems paranoid of course, but they could never live with themselves if something happened. Principal Meyer says there’s been rare accounts of so called ‘witches that healed’. They still ended up being burned at the stake.” Dani gestures to her work. “What do you think anyone would do if they seen what I can survive?”
“I understand Dani. I mean they’d probably try to bottle you if they could.” That earns a chuckle from Dani and a smile forms in the corners of Larissa’s lips, having eased then tensions momentarily.
Dani wraps her arms around herself, whether from the chill of the room or fear, Larissa can’t tell. But if it was the latter, she couldn’t deny the protectiveness planting itself in her heart.
“Dani.” The brunette looks at her with those dark, chocolate eyes looking as tired as a path of worn dirt. “I promise you. I will always look after you.”
