I know there is a lot more to look forward to, but Jacob and Sam's chemistry is just so special, and it makes me sad to think that we might not see them together as much in future seasons. Do you think they will really be able to keep Jacob as a lead, since Louis doesn't have as much of a role in later books? I know they are aware how exceptional Jacob is, and how special his chemistry with Sam is, so I hope they can keep him as a lead.
Oh, I think we will "keep" them :)
AMC (and Rolin Jones) know they struck gold with them, and especially in the later books there is a LOT to build on.
I think the show will build up the "core four" next season, there won't be just "one lead"... and as such, the story lines can be quite nicely interwoven. There are some things Louis is instrumental for, some things he can take over from other characters, and of course we have already seen how ingeniously they're spinning the different timelines and hints already?
I honestly wouldn't worry.
Louis will stay, and will stay a big part, just as Armand, Daniel and Lestat will. But of course he won't be able to "be" in the backstories of Lestat and Armand (though I have a feeling he will be more than in the book involved in the one for Daniel and Armand).
There is also a high chance that Daniel might stand in for David for TtotBT too, imho, so...
And the show just cannot build up a cast like in the books, it would be too much. Which in turn opens up a lot of possibilities for Louis?! (Also, I believe Anne considered Armand once to be more involved with the fight against Akasha/Amel iirc? I do think Rolin & co have read the Tulane sources, so maybe they're taking "twist inspiration" from there as well).
Again, I think we will have "four lead" characters, after season 3. Built around Loustat, as Rolin said.
It would work very well, imho.
(Especially, again, imho^^, if they get Merrick out of the way (which is also why I think Rolin will do the Merrick ending in s2), because not only can it explain a lot, or work in a cataclysmic way, it also frees Louis up. The Louis after is a different one. Far more powerful, eventually far more sure of himself. TtotBT would fit perfectly with that phase where they're not quite there yet, and then... 😈)
I don't see Louis going anywhere.
Which, in turn means, Jam Reiderson will not go anywhere either *laughs*

Apparently Halle Bailey has joined Rachel Zegler on the "we're so much better than the original" train. I just saw an article where she claims they changed it so that Ariel "doesn't leave the ocean for a boy". Did these people even watch the original? Ariel did not leave the ocean for a boy!
Yeah, I saw that, and the director released a statement that cosigned it...and here's the thing, people are blindly defending Halle and I get it because she had a lot of people supporting her before she even starting shooting for this movie. To an extent I understand- I do think she has more talent than the other actresses they've cast...but also, why does every single actress and live action Disney cast have to make the same exact point of discreating the values of the original creations that are providing a star vehicle for them in the same, tired way with baseless accusations? Halle is giving Ariel a lot more respect than Rachel gives Snow White or Lily gives Cinderella (though most of the love and respect Halle gives for the character is kind of just admiration for her reflection in Ariel as opposed to the actual character, but I'll take that over Rachel's view on Snow White any day), but it still honestly makes me uncomfortable and I don't understand how the Disney marketing team hasn't progressed with their messaging in over a decade. Can we please stop beating up women, fictional or otherwise, that are from an older time? Can we start exercising understanding and diversity of thought instead of condemning women with an "old is bad, new is good" ideology??? Can we stop intentionally misreading women's goals and desires and wants for their life so that we can cast them aside, only to replace them with soulless 2.0 next generation versions of something they already established? To say I'd be surprised that this is the direction it's continuing wouldn't be right, but I am disappointed.

Adding to that last anon, one of my favorite things about Enid and Wednesday is that I see them as being on more or less equal footing. Like, it would have been easy for the writers to write Enid as a pushover, or as a mean girl, like Amanda from Addams Family Values. But they didn't. Enid stands up for herself and tries to be understanding of Wednesday's quirks. It like Enid said. They shouldn't work, but they do.
Exactly!! Enid is such a fascinating character to me because of just that; she doesn't take Wednesday's shit laying down, but she also doesn't look down on her because she's weird. She just asks for Wednesday to give her a solid chance, and when Wednesday does, they're good, they're on the same page. They're buddies, no matter what, and I?? really love that???

I just saw an article on tvline that says that next season may be the last season of Young Sheldon. Nothing is official yet, but they are discussing it. What do you think about that? Personally, while I will miss the show, I think next season will be a good stopping point, since, based on the Big Bang backstory, that is when George's death and possible affair should happen, and should also be when Sheldon goes to the California Institute of Technology, which would separate him from his family.
Oh my god I had totally missed this message! 🙈 I'm terribleeeeee!!! Buuuut I guess it may be appropriate to reply the day the show returns after a hiatus (how long it has been? It felt like 3 months).
I am familiar with the article, and I agree with you - that's probably true we're closer to the end than we thought. At the beginning of this season I wouldn't have known how long they wanted to go on, but given the most recent events.. kids, things are falling apart. I've always thought that the show will end (or should end) with George's death or very close to it, and for all the reasons we know - they are close, at least in the time of the show. Sure, time is a VERY relative concept in YS (we all remember summer 1991 - it lasted half a season lol), but also the kids are growing up and Iain already is on the verge of getting his driving license or something. Btw, I am glad writing team is aware of this. I have more and more the good feeling they learned to plan way more in advance than they did with TBBT, which is good for this kind of story. They even talk of extending to s8 in case the writers strike happens and they need to cut s7 short. It means they know more or less what needs to happen up that. Am I happy to discuss ending already? Hell no. Over the years I have grown affectionate more and more of my Coopers and I will miss them so much. Not to mention, while it is its own show and it's spectacular, it's also the last bond we have to tbbt and especially shamy. I can't lie, those occasional updates from the future give me life. It's weird to think of a world we don't even get those.

There are some things that are undoubtedly racist and some things that aren’t. Calling someone racist because they theorized that a black character might not be as innocent as she may seem isn’t racist.
Oh wow my first ask! But you misunderstood me. I wasn’t calling wendyliddel racist and I even said that I didn’t think they were racist. I did specify that they need to keep in mind that fandoms do tend to make black characters look bad by spreading headcanons and theories that maybe they’re not all that nice usually to make their white counterparts look better. Voltron is one of the best examples of a fandom doing this, mainly with Allura. It got so bad that if someone liked her they were deemed problematic or even homophobic.
So far, there is no evidence that Lily is secretly evil. So far in the show she is shown to be kind, accepting of Louis, and encourages him to be with Lestat. Her comment about telling Lestat that she and Louis mostly talk instead of having sex comes off as cheeky rather than malicious; as if she’s saying, “don’t be worried he knows you’re gay and he’s fine with that” and her actions punctuate that she’s okay with his sexuality and wants Louis and Lestat to be together.
“He is your destiny, Louis.”
“It’s alright, love”.
Even when Lestat knocks her out she puts an encouraging hand on Louis’s shoulder the next day before leaving Lestat’s home. Lestat is my favorite character both in this show and in the books but Lestat in this adaptation is shown multiple times killing people for petty reasons. He states outright that he has his father’s temper and that he hates being ignored which is what Louis is doing to him when Lily is murdered. He’s also shown to be a liar, manipulative and obsessive over Louis. He says to Louis that she made a poor substitute. All the arrows point to the cause of her death being that he tried to use her to distract from Louis’s avoidance and killing her when it didn’t work or him killing her to further isolate Louis from his friends and family.
If she was secretly doing something behind the scenes that would validate her murder then it would have to be something worse than theft, betrayal and even killing since Lestat in this adaption doesn’t concern himself with evildoers.

Daniel. Maybe because he's the closest to self insert we could have with TVC, considering his arc starts in the 70th and that's when the first book came out. He's initially the easiest and very pleasant to relate to. He's snarky, shameless with his feelings and he's the first to turn the infamous scary Armand soft. He also has an interesting influence on Marius later. It makes him kinda unique. I like to pick at Armand and his contradictory nature, all his antics just make my brain tick, but Danny is just a warm presence there. Pandora is worth mentioning, I loved her pov the most, I wish Anne would have written more from women's perspective. I don't like Santino and the first Children of Darkness from Blood and Gold, they are just boring to read about, although it's funny how Marius is bewilded first by Christianity and then this twisted version of it.
Devil's Minion is golden, I agree with the general fandom opinion on that. It's so golden I don't need any expansion on it, I think it's self-sufficient. Lestat with Armand are hilarious and *give me more any time*. Marius and Danny are so peculiar, I want to know details, too. Lestat with Marius, Lestat with Danny, not like a long term relationship, but something to explore once. I admit I'm all in for threesomes, I find they work even better with some characters. Marius with Lestat and Armand gnawing at each others faces off and competing for attention; Lestat, Armand and Louis. All in later timeline though. I've also just finished Prince Lestat and Marius and Teskhamen have potential.
All the sightseeing, s1 felt a bit confining. I really hope they'll do all the views if they've chosen the Armand chasing Daniel route. What's with the particular scenes...hmmm. Tower, Lesmand's fighting in general, I hope to see Gabrielle, theatre - in the 1700th and later, Lelio chapters, Marius's turning, Mojo, Armand's little obsessions with the tech, Maharet and Mekare origins, the great family, Khayman, at the Lestat's concert in particular, Lestat and Louis's kiss there. If they didn't change Armand's origins I would say his trip to Kyiv after he was turned, but I'm curious to see what they'll make of it anyway. I hope the show gives more attention to girls tbh, the original really lacks it.

So a recent post by @wendyliddel (hope you don’t mind me tagging you here) just reminded me of something i noticed when rewatching episode 6 last night.
There’s a super brief shot that may indicate when Louis found out about Bruce.
Remember when Louis and Claudia are ‘talking’ while Louis and Lestat are having sex? Claudia says “they can’t all be like him” meaning Lestat and then “...or like him” meaning Bruce and then this happens.
Tumblr media
(side-note - god, I love Bailey’s face-acting)
Followed by this.
Tumblr media
That got me thinking about when Louis said he could see brief flashes of the tenor’s thoughts in episode 2. So there are the diaries but maybe this was the first time Louis heard about it?
Either way, it’s a nice eerie touch.

Do you think the show will address the Aids epidemic of the 80s? I mean, if Daniel was doing drugs and visiting gay bars in the 70s, he likely would have had a front row seat to the epidemic in the 80s. And I do seem to remember them briefly showing an article that he wrote about it.
I think so yes!
Both Daniel's "Practicum" page as his LinkedIn have texts/books referencing it!
So they did plan/are planning on addressing this.

I think I've seen 3 or 4 live action adaptations of Snow White and, frankly none of them have impressed me, and nothing about the upcoming version has me excited. Compare this to Cinderella, which has had many many adaptations. Some of them great. Some of them not so great. I don't understand why they have such a hard time adapting Snow White.
I completely agree- Cinderella, generally, seems to take to better translations than Snow White depictions which, in my opinion, is why the 1937 film is so special. I think with Cinderella, with as specific as it is, there are certain themes that could be interpreted in a more broad way (abuse, the under dog, rags to riches) and that's why it fares better. Snow White, on the other hand, is never really understood by the people who remake it. Like, watching interviews of Kristen Stewart and Lily Collins talk about the character, nothing they're saying is rooted in the fairytale princess and you could interchange any princess or female lead into what they're saying and it'd be passable. That's the frustrating thing, too, in all the people supporting Rachel Zegler's misreading of the character. They say things like "Snow White WAS weak, and that's okay! It's time to change" or they go back to the original story and all paint her as stupid for the three attempts on her life and they literally all parrot the same "she was a reactive character that things happened to and she never moved the story forward in a meaningful way!" And those things aren't true, especially in the Disney movie, but even in the original story. People just don't know how to read fairytales anymore and all these defenders, and Rachel herself, are picking up a story that never connected with them and revisiting it after decades spent without it with the same really basic and flawed take. That's why it's imperative that people who actually enjoy the stories they're telling are the ones doing so. Do you know how many countless Snow White collectors and researchers and museum curators actually do understand and could've served this production way better? But, back to your original statement, I think people struggle with remaking Snow White because they're operating under the false assumption that her character is a blank slate that they have to build from scratch and that isn't the case and is why Snow White, herself, is nowhere to be found outside of the original animated Disney classic. Also, the classics- Snow White, Cinderella, and Aurora- are the most difficult to cast because of how natural they are as characters. They don't have a shtick to fall back on or one word to describe them- they're nuanced. You can't reduce them to the 'zany' girl, or the brainy one or the nerdy one or the feisty one. There's so much to them and I think people have gotten used to the characterizations that are reliant on one attribute, whether it's a single defining characteristic or interest, and using that to levy their interpretation.

Replying to Replies (part 3)
Regarding the news that Disney will be deleting content from its streaming library:
Tumblr media
My pessimistic approach is a defense mechanism and I hope I’m wrong!
So Weird still has no soundtrack, physical copies, and rarely gets acknowledged, so its inclusion on D+ was a miracle. There’s always the possibility it will be safe from the initial wave of deletions (though maybe removed sometime later like HBO recently did with Dexter’s Laboratory?). 🤔
Under the related Kate-Karen meme:
Tumblr media
One glimmer of hope is that Disney owns Hulu, ESPN, ABC, Freeform, FX, National Geographic, A&E, 20th Century, Fox Sports, some international properties, and quite a few others. Programming from those entities will likely be removed as well. I don’t think the budget cuts have to be Disney-exclusive, just Disney-owned.
To use the Dexter example again, Cartoon Network is owned by Warner Bros. and streamed on HBO Max. On the other hand So Weird was created under the Disney name, in its studios, and streams on its app.
Following an ask about Rebecca and Kamilah:
Tumblr media
In a way Rebecca had to be Molly’s friend first so she could meet Fi. Without her connection to Molly and following PKB’s career, it might have been harder to show how she hadn’t aged and that had to be set up for the original s3 when Fi would need her help.
Tumblr media
(page 3 of the original s3 plans)
The closest we get to another mention of her is in Avatar.
Tumblr media
Jordan calls her “That girl you keep looking for,” but Molly is so put off by Jordan’s behavior she doesn’t react too much. (Though it certainly gets Jack’s attention.)
Tumblr media
I would have loved that for Kamilah! Aunt Effy could have sent a postcard for the bus bulletin board or Molly could have had a phone call at the start of a scene in s2. “That was Mrs. Simmonds. She said Kamilah’s going to be discharged on Tuesday.” But alas.
--
Thanks for all the love, @wendyliddel!

How close do you think that Young Sheldon will stick to the established backstory? Georgie is turning 18 next month, and Sheldon previously said that Georgie married his first wife at 19, so I think there is a good chance Georgie will get married next season, either to Mandy or someone else. We are also closing in on when Sheldon (allegedly) caught his father having an affair, and George's subsequent death. One thing is for sure, these will be a busy couple of seasons.
In terms of sticking to established backstory, I think we probably have to distinguish between Georgie's story and the overall destiny of the Coopers and the way it affected Sheldon. While I am a little afraid still for Mandy, the baby and their story overall, I am starting to think they eventually discard what we know about Georgie so far. It's easier for the children part: when we met him in TBBT, they just know so little about what they wanted to do with this story. And now that I think about it, the mention of Georgie marrying his first wife at 19 happened very earlier in season 1 - even before Georgie's episode in TBBT. On the other hand, at this point of the story Georgie getting married pretty much makes sense. Btw, it's much more likely Mandy to me than someone else. It's a bit more complicated with George, Mary, death and cheating. Opposite to Georgie's life, these events are well established in canon and it's very unlikely they won't deal with them. Of course, I agree that things won't be the way we pictured all these years. But canon is too strong here, and they have honestly been laying the foundations for it ever since the beggining… it will happen.

@wendyliddel was wondering where the collection of Father Paul saying "here's the thing" is... here you go!
I notice he says "that's the thing" a bit more, so I included them both!
Ok but fr, some of these make great reaction gifs.... like "Murderer." "Well, I suppose so, but that's the thing, I had no guilt."

To add to what that one anon said about Spuffy fans defending the bathroom scene, I actually recall someone being like "They fought and had rough sex, so how was he supposed to know she really didn't want to?" (This was long time ago, so I'm paraphrasing, but that was the gist.) Like, maybe he should have known because she said no? Because she was fighting him off? Because she was crying? And I generally don't hold vampires to human standards, but the show tries to tell us that even soulless Spike is capable of good, unlike Angelus, who is pure evil. So anyone trying to defend that scene needs to check their rape culture at the door.
@ last anon. truly rape culture in a show and it’s fandom that prided itself on #girlpower is so depressing.

Regarding the question of if Jamie knows that Dani visits her: this is not canon by any means, but Amelia Eve, who plays Jamie says that she believes Jamie does not know, because Dani knows that Jamie would take over the lady of the lake duties from her if she could, and Dani doesn't want that, so she doesn't let Jamie know she is there. Again, this is by no means official, but Amelia said this in a buzzfeed article, and I thought it was interesting.
yeah, I agree with her there.
she tried desperately to take Dani’s place, and as Jamie herself said “Dani would never”
but I like to think that maybe in dreams, they can share a treasured memory together. and Jamie wakes up thinking that it was a pleasant dream of the woman she loved, not knowing that Dani was right there alongside her.

I think your Prue/Cole content is interesting. I didn't personally ship them, but I did think they had chemistry. I remember particularly noticing it in the episode when they went back to the old west. And didn't the actors date in real life?
I don’t know about the real life stuff, and I never shipped them, but I’ve just noticed in this rewatch that there’s some chemistry between the characters. I’m sure there are some people out there who ship them, though!
