When he called for ghosts, he certainly hadn't expected her.

But there Yu Ziyuan stood—or, well, floated, more accurately—back straight and robes bloody and eyes blazing with an all-too familiar fury that, for once, Wei Wuxian understood completely.

"Auntie Yu," he said, inclining his head slightly. "I take it you have unfinished business." The soul-calming ceremonies should have made her spirit's presence here impossible, but then he supposed she'd been the Lady of the Jiang Clan to the very end after all, hadn't she? "Care to kill some Wens with me?"

Not that things were easy between them, of course. Yu Ziyuan had died angry enough to remain in this life as a ferocious ghost, and death had not improved her temperament. There were times, as they traveled, with no Wens handy to slake her undying fury, that Yu Ziyuan's ghost fell into old habits and turned her ire upon him. He had borne her recriminations for a while, until she made the mistake of accusing him of ignoring her last order and abandoning her son.

With a cold fury of his own, Wei Wuxian brought chenqing to his lips and cut her off with a harsh, discordant shriek, whirling around to glare into her eyes. They widened in shock as Yu Ziyuan realized her lips were not merely sealed but gone, a smooth expanse of skin covering the lower half of her face like a mask. "Enough," he commanded, nearly shaking with rage. "I gave Jiang Cheng every protection I had to give, and more than you know. I will avenge Lotus Pier, you and Uncle Fengmian and sixth shidi and all of them. Help me or don't, but mind your tongue, Auntie Yu, or I will mind it for you."

It was vicious and brazen and breathtakingly unfilial, but something inside Wei Wuxian had shattered when the Burial Mounds took him, and he found that he did not care. The filial thing to do, after all, would have been to set her spirit to rest when she first appeared, not drag her along to carve a bloody swathe through the Wen outposts. But she had answered his call like all the other ghosts—she of all of them should understand by now just what sort of creature Wei Wuxian had become. Yu Ziyuan nodded once, and Wei Wuxian played a run of low, coaxing notes, returning her to herself once more.

"I should break your legs for the impertinence," she said coolly.

Wei Wuxian just laughed. It felt mean and a little wild, like the sound had to claw its way out of his throat. "Ah, Auntie Yu, I'm afraid Wen Chao beat you to it. I'll save his for you when we find him."

It had been years since Yu Ziyuan had smiled at him, despite all his charm and futile efforts to meet her expectations. Fitting, perhaps, that when she finally did, there would be blood between her teeth.

This adorable boy was the main inspiration for all of Max Kane's antics in 'Lead Me Down To The Ocean' - literally no imagination was needed when I was coming up with shenanigans for Maxie to get involved in during his time on Islay 😂 For instance, Sam has a habit of running into rivers/lochs/muddy puddles despite hating baths. He also has a propensity to start fights with other dogs who are much larger than him (Sam's main rival is a 6-year-old Labrador called Archie)...

I could talk at length about so many details in that fic seeing as it depicts one of my favourite places on Earth, but Max's scenes were easily the most fun to write (partly because it gave me an excuse to rewatch videos of Sam being silly) 🥰

This was such an interesting concept to write about and its been a while since I've written anything on here so I hope it's not terrible! Apologies if my depictions of sleepwalking and sleep talking aren't that accurate 💕

Poor baby was so worried you’d accidentally hurt yourself 

The first time he saw it happen, he woke up in the middle of the night absolutely parched for a glass of water 

And there you were standing in the corner of the room

When I tell you his heart almost leaped out of his throat-

“Uhh, baby?” 

He’s remembered the times you’ve mentioned your sleepwalking before, but he’s never actually witnessed it until now

At this point, he’s scared of what to do 

He’s heard of the “never wake a sleepwalker” rule and he wasn’t about to break that 

So instead, he’d tentatively sit closer to the foot of the bed and monitor you for a bit

He’ll watch to make sure you don’t fall or hurt yourself and then he’ll gently lead you back to bed 

After laying you back down, he’ll stay up for a while and make sure you don’t get back up

In the morning he’ll tell you about it and take note of anything that might have triggered it 

“Sweet girl, you scared me half to death last night” 

First time he ever heard you sleep talk, this man thought you were talking shit to him 💀

He’ll be laying next to you like “the fuck did you just say to me” only to realize you’re still asleep 

Not gonna lie, I think he finds your sleep-talking entertaining 

Sometimes he’ll respond to your random comments just to see if you’ll react 

And if you happen to say some lowkey cryptid things, he’s gonna wake you up just to put your ass back to bed 😭

First time he ever saw you sleepwalk, this man almost killed you thinking you were a villain or intruder 

The loudness of his quirk was more than enough to wake you up, scaring both you and him shitless thinking you were both under attack 

Katsuki hates to admit that he worries about you when you sleepwalk 

He thinks you’ll hurt yourself and he won’t be there to help you 

So some nights, he’ll stay up just to watch over you

And if he sees you starting to sleepwalk, he’ll guide you back to bed 

“C’mon dumbass, back to bed we go”

I like to think that Katsuki would take the liberty of studying your sleepwalking and sleep-talking habits 

Much like Deku, he observes what triggers it and how to care for you 

Cus the last thing he wants is for his darlin’ to get hurt in the middle of the night

He deadass thought you were possessed first time he saw it happen

He woke up in the middle of the night once and saw you walking around the bedroom 

And you were mumbling about the most obscure things 

I’m serious when I say he was literal seconds away from calling the local priest or something bc he was scared shitless

For a while, he just sat there and kept his eye on you to make sure you didn’t start floating or contorting 

You made him watch the Exorcist once and now he's scarred (no pun intended)

He will ask you about it in the morning bc he was still convinced you had a demon in you or something

When you explain to him about your tendencies to sleepwalk and talk, he was relieved you weren’t possessed 

“I see. I thought a villain possessed you.”

After you tell him about it, he’ll ask if there's anything he could do to help 

He doesn’t want you to accidentally get hurt or anything so sometimes he’ll stay up a little after you’ve fallen asleep to make sure you’re okay

Or if he catches you sleep talking, he’ll listen to you out of curiosity 

He wants to know what goes in your head when you fall asleep lmfao

Overall, he’s going to do everything he can to make sure you're safe in your sleep

Don West and Lan Jingyi, Misunderstandings 😆

Space AU for Lan Jingyi, regular-ass Lost in Space canon divergence for Don West. I wanna give Jingyi and Don the same start as Don and Dr Smith got except Jingyi genuinely doesn't mean to leave him in the lurch, they just get separated when the storm starts and Jingyi fires the flare to try to find Don again but then gets picked up by the Robinsons and is like "NO WAIT MY COMPANION IS STILL OUT THERE" but for whatever reason they can't find him, so Don gets found by the Watanabes and thinks Jingyi is a rotten betrayer. The misunderstanding lasts longer than it needs to when they reunite because Jingyi cannot help but respond snippily to provocation and Don is incredibly provoking.
