Look at what came in the mail: my advanced copy of The Wheel of the Year! This beauty written by Fiona Cook and published by @andrewsmcmeelbooks comes out in November, and it is full of illustrated, nature-based meditations, crafts, and rituals honoring the seasons. ✨ One of my favorite things about the design of the book is that each chapter/spoke of the wheel has a different background color to match the feeling of the season, creating a beautiful and subtle rainbow effect. I also really love the endpaper pattern so I had to share it here as well! I’ll be showing more sneak peeks as we get closer to the publication date. 🌻 you can preorder wherever you like to get your books!

In the shadows of the forest, the spirits of the dead gather to watch as we honor the ancient rites of Beltane. It's a time of rebirth and renewal, where we celebrate the return of the sun and the awakening of the earth from its winter slumber.

But amidst the beauty of this sacred time, the darkness lingers. For the spirits are not always benevolent, and the magic of the night can bring both blessing and curse.

So as we gather around the Beltane fire, let us remember to honor the spirits of the land, the ancestors who came before us, and the gods who watch over us all. Let us offer our gratitude and our respect, and let us be mindful of the power we wield.

The pear crisp I made that will be tonight's dessert. Happy autumn equinox, everybody! Pear Crisp For the Filling: 6 cups peeled and diced fresh pears (about 6-7 medium pears) 1/4 t. salt 1/4 t. nutmeg 1 1/2 t. cinnamon 1 t. vanilla For the Topping: 1/2 cup flour 1/4 t. salt 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup rolled oats 1 stick of butter, cut into pieces 1/3 cup finely-chopped pecans Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease an 8-inch square baking dish. Place the pears in a bowl. Add the salt, nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla and toss to coat. Spread evenly into your prepared dish. In another bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugars, and oats. Cut in the butter until a crumbly mixture forms. Add in the pecans and stir to distribute them evenly. Sprinkle the topping over your prepared pears. Bake for 45 minutes or until the top becomes golden brown and crispy and the pears are soft.
