Watching F.D. Signifier's video on the social dynamics and media representation of interracial relationships really broke my brain open on how much i was prioritizing the interracial relationships in media i like or was very influential to me as more progressive, and more comfortable to me because of their proximity to whiteness. It's absolutely not the final word on the subject, but I personally found it very helpful

#i'm still thinking a lot about it a day after watching it which. tbh is kinda uncommon for video essays #also it did just leave me very called out wrt tgp and b99 and spiderverse lmao. IN A GOOD WAY.#like idk obviously there's a huge baseline problem in fandom spaces with racism that's been discussed on here for years #and i feel like there's some amount of energy towards 'hey actually ship the canon black/white pairing and don't erase it' that #i obviously don't think is BAD. but it has started to color my view of mass media in the raw to view that as the ideal endpoint #which is already biased towards a proximity to whiteness that i hadn't quite realized was there #much to think about #video essay rec
